i want to lay with you in a place a little inland from santa monica, maybe even marina del rey. it’ll be hot in los angeles and we’ll be blasting fans straight onto us because our apartment doesn't have AC. it doesn't have a whole lot (and neither do we), but it’s next to the liquor store and the shop we get our flowers. we've made friends with the people who work at the market.
it’s one of those kitschy, almost-dingbat apartments with only one bedroom, but we make the most of it. it’s painted peach on the outside and a few palm trees line the sidewalk. it smells faintly of cigarettes. we have orange juice in the fridge and plums on the table.
nfr is playing on vinyl, where it usually summers, and we are miserably hot but we’re together. you love to hate los angeles and i get a high being in the city that loves me with the boy i love. we listen to poetry, you play shows, i’m in the crowd, we read books together and go to new restaurants when they open. living is easy. we don’t work, we dont do anything. we just live day-by-day in the heavenly smog and indulge in the sloth necessary to be here.
i drag you around town sometimes and tell you the tales of jim morrison and sharon tate. we go to the beach whenever we want to, sometimes driving down to Newport and Laguna just because we can. basking in sun and history and architecture, we are so boringly happy here. i find beauty and joy in the spotted sidewalks and traffic, you enjoy the occasional chaos and unpredictability that comes with the lifestyle. we both take pictures of vintage cars we like when we’re out. as awful as the heat is, i think it's beautiful sitting in it with you.
you call me miss southern california herself when i ask what you want to do. everything is slow here but something is always happening and i love the way the city’s pace matches ours.
there’s always so much to do and nothing but time to do it.
- summertime, and the living's easy

Arriving in a spot of sunlight on Sunday and driving into what I can only describe as Twister weather, the kind of sky that draws storm chasers in droves, it felt like we shoulda just stayed put at the airport.
So eventually we find ourselves at that Denny's in Long Beach with streams of water falling like individual waterfalls from the roof. The sun never really comes back and the day closes with the rain absolutely coming back.
The next morning we wake up and it's a whole other day. It's a fully summer day as if the day before never happened.
Seriously. Like it never happened.
Now I'm walking around feeling the warmth of the sun. I'm gathering in the color of the sky. The white puffiness of the clouds. The sunlight. And all manner of colors in the trees and flowers and bushes.
It's a normal summer day. Not super hot, but still.
A brand new day.
We don't have to be to the campground above Laguna Beach until three... which explains why we laze away most of the day. Derek and Kyle are out and about around noon to pick up some supplies including Kyle's best friend, Dylan. Meanwhile, we're mostly just being. I'm sure for Kimmer that involves studying and writing but my main observation is that this reminds me of my elementary school days and those times set aside for mandatory Uninterrupted Sustained Silent Reading.
Yup. USSR. I don't know what to tell you other than those were different days.
So most of our day, once we were up, we were mostly uninterrupted, mostly sustained, mostly silent, and mostly reading.
Around three we get serious about packing and hitting the road. I think Derek and the boys did actually leave around three while we left around quarter passed four after waiting for a coupla plates of Kimmer's brownies to finish cooking in the oven.
Now we're heading to Laguna but we've got some shopping to do that we'll attempt somewhere along the Pacific Coast Highway. Turns out that eight-ish miles and twenty minutes behind our campground is the nearest Target where we can find the eclectic items on our list that includes food, paper towels and plates, ice, non-alcoholic beer, and some over-the-counter meds.
By the time we roll into camp, it's coming up on six-thirty, time for a burrito and beer dinner followed by...
Well. It's camp. So it's basically hanging out.
Before the sun fully sets we witness a two-stage rocket launch from somewhere north of us, probably Van den Burg. A very cool experience.
After that, Kimmer settles into the van for an evening of study, the boys hang out at the picnic table...
...and Derick 'n I (and his Chihuahua, Cookie, nestled on his lap), take seats around the campfire for a while.
Later, after Kimmer joins the campfire, I join a game of Go Fish with the boys at the table. It's a game I don't know how to play and, even once they have me up and running, I start asking them for cards that have nothing to do with anything I'm holding. I actually had a lot of fun until we all discovered I still had no idea what I was doing. 🤣🤣🤣
Moment of the Night: I got a spit take out of Kyle. He'd just leaned his head back to drink when I said a particular thing that made him laugh right as the liquid was into his mouth.
The ensuing biological chaos sounded like he was dying.
Priceless. 😁
Two games later, it's time to turn in. Kimmer, of course, has the van set up hours before and is already circling her own night's sleep.
And that's that.
Kind of a nothing-burger day. Focused on ourselves to start. Focused on each other to end.
Here, above the shores of the Pacific Ocean.

Each month has its special beauty, and with it comes a special birthday flower that captures its significance. As days change from the new beginnings of January to the joyful endings of December, every month's birth flower brings with it stories of history, importance, and all-natural attraction. Let's start this 12-month flower odyssey, highlighting the birthday celebration blossoms that envelop the spirit of every month.
January: The Tranquility of Carnations In the heart of winter, when nature appears to be in a deep sleep, Carnations flower with silent elegance. These fragile blossoms, readily available in a wide variety of shades, represent love, attraction, and difference. Pink carnations, particularly, share appreciation, making them a charming birthday celebration gift.
February: The Modesty of Violets Violets, with their soft shades and wonderful aroma, mirror the mild change from wintertime to springtime. Signifying commitment, humbleness, and faithfulness, they're the best method to want somebody a year full of unwavering love and trust.
March: The Vitality of Daffodils As winter season launches its icy hold, daffodils arise, proclaiming the coming of warmer days. These glowing yellow flowers signify new beginnings and unequaled interest, mirroring the significance of March-born people.
April: The Quality of Daisy Daisies, with their pure white flowers and sun-like center, are associated with virtue and pureness. They personify April's spirit, representing hope and the renewal of nature.
May: The Beauty of Lily of the Valley These little bell-shaped blossoms, with their invigorating scent, stand for the return of joy. An excellent depiction for May, they symbolize the change right into the joyous summer season days ahead.
June: The Appeal of Roses June is beautified by the queen of blossoms. Roses, in their myriad shades, represent a myriad of feelings from love to gratefulness, making them a flexible birthday celebration present.
July: The Brightness of Larkspur Larkspurs, with their high spikes and star-shaped blossoms, mean love and positivity. Their vibrancy records the height of summertime and the happiness of July.
August: The Strength of Gladiolus Standing for self-control and ethical honesty, the sword-shaped gladiolus blossoms are a testimony to the intense spirit of those celebrating their birthdays in August.
September: The Beauty of Asters These pretty blossoms, which can be found in numerous hues, signify love and perseverance. As summer season subsides and fall approaches, asters personify the mix of 2 seasons.
October: The Vibrancy of Marigolds These intense blossoms, commonly connected with the sunlight's radiance, capture October's significance. They represent enthusiasm and creative thinking, reverberating with the fall spirit.
November: The Deepness of Chrysanthemums<br> Frequently called 'mums', these blossoms are available in a magnificent variety of hues. They characterize November's deepness, representing pleasure and positive outlook.
December: The Gleam of Narcissus These brilliant blossoms, showing the celebration of December, represent hope and success.
In this vivid tapestry of flowers, every month provides a distinct flower, adding charm and meaning to birthday celebrations. Whether you're giving or receiving, recognizing these blossoms improves the happiness of the celebration.

I'm a travel planner. These 5 US destinations are my top recommendations right now.
People may not think to visit Milwaukee. Chris LaBasco/ShutterstockI'm a travel planner, and there are so many US destinations my clients are loving right now.Milkwakee is one of my favorite spots in the Midwest, and Newport is a great East Coast trip.Out West, there's the stunning Sedona, and Savannah is an underrated Southern town.As a travel planner, I book my fair share of national-park stays and Disney vacations, but my clients have also been loving some less advertised US destinations. If you're looking for a more under-the-radar spot for a family trip or romantic getaway, the States has plenty of low-key cities to choose from. Here are some of my favorites right now.Milwaukee is a Midwest gem.Milwaukee's Mitchell Park Domes is truly beautiful. Kelly Ermis/ShutterstockThe Wisconsin city is located on Lake Michigan's western shore, less than two hours from Chicago. For outdoorsy types, you can hit up Bradford Beach or hike and bike at Lakeshore State Park. If you like beer, tour some local breweries — Urban Harvest, Miller Brewing Company, Milwaukee Brewing Co. — and taste their offerings. Baseball fans can even spend a day tailgating and catch a Brewers game at American Family Field. Milwaukee has an expansive art museum and a spectacular zoo. The greenhouses at Mitchell Park Domes also showcase beautiful flowers and plants. Head west to experience the glorious Sedona.Sedona is a great destination for outdoorsy folks. suippi/ShutterstockLocated about two hours from Phoenix, Sedona is a nature-lover's paradise. The area's gorgeous red-colored rocks offer countless hiking opportunities, including braving Bell Rock butte. For more active adventures, there are great places to kayak and mountain bike, or you can head to one of the supernatural vortexes (energy hot spots) Sedona is known for. The natural water slide at Slide Rock State Park is a unique Arizona attraction, and Oak Creek is a gorgeous place to swim. If you're really brave, you can book a Pink Jeep Tour to see more of the nearby jaw-dropping sights while basically hanging off the cliffs. The Chapel of the Holy Cross is always at the top of my list, followed by an Old West chuckwagon dinner at Blazin' M Ranch. Downtown Sedona also has a plethora of retail and restaurant options, including the famous Cowboy Club.San Juan is a tropical destination that doesn't require a passport.Puerto Rico is a US territory. Sean Pavone/ShutterstockSan Juan is a great mix of beach fun and historical sightseeing. Plus, since Puerto Rico is a US territory, US citizens don't need a passport to visit.Visiting Old San Juan feels like taking a trip back in time. I suggest booking a tour that takes you to Capilla del Cristo, Santa María Magdalena de Pazzis Cemetery, and the San Juan Cathedral.Stay at one of the premier beach spots, like Hilton's El Conquistador Resort. And if you're looking for a thrill, book a snorkeling excursion at Icacos Island, hike through rainforests to search for waterfalls, or find a spot to go ziplining. My favorite experience, which cannot be missed, is kayaking to Laguna Grande at night to see spectacular bioluminescent water.Savannah has endless opportunities for fun, food, and relaxation.Savannah has some of the prettiest parks to stroll in. Sean Pavone/ShutterstockThe best time to visit Savannah, Georgia, is in the spring or fall when the weather is milder.Take some time to stroll the shops of River Street or hop on one of the city's famous ghost tours — Savannah is considered one of the most haunted cities in America. One of my favorite ways to see the city is by riverboat cruise, and if you have time, take a day trip to the lovely Tybee Island.History and architecture buffs should also explore the Olde Pink House, Forsyth Park, and the gorgeous homes on Jones Street.Mrs. Wilkes' Dining Room, which serves up southern delicacies, is the best place to grab lunch. Then, you can stroll the riverfront to grab a treat or drink.Newport is an East Coast delight.Newport is a charming coastal town. Marianne Campolongo/ShutterstockNewport, Rhode Island, is a mix of natural beauty, history, and stunning architecture — be sure to visit some of the town's historic mansions.I highly recommend renting a car and driving down the gorgeous Ocean Drive coastal road. But the city also offers Trolley Tours if you want to stick to the inland sights. You can also take in the views from the 3.5-mile Newport Cliff Walk or book a thrilling rail-bike tour. The town has many great restaurants, including The Mooring and Bar 'Cino. But if you can't choose, just book a food tour. There are also a number of nearby wineries and breweries, including Newport Vineyard and Greenvale, to check out.

“Urban Petal Studio” has become a trailblazer in the field of modern flower design.
This floral store, which is centrally located in Bonifacio Global City, gives every arrangement a touch of sophisticated style. The distinctive look of Urban Petal Studio blends conventional flowers with out-of-the-ordinary components to create avant-garde bouquets that embody Taguig's multicultural vibe.
The trendsetters in the city have a devoted following because of their dedication to pushing floral limits.
After investigating flower businesses in Cavite, Bulacan, Laguna, and Taguig, we discovered an intricate web of floral designs that captures the distinct spirit of each province. These flower shops showcase the Philippines' rich and varied floral culture, from the historic beauty of Cavite to the creative genius of Bulacan, the tranquil vistas of Laguna, and the urban sophistication of Taguig.
As we explore these regions' floral environment, it becomes clear that these stores are more than just places to buy flowers; they are also purveyors of beauty and growers of feelings. With deliberate selection and arrangement, every bloom becomes a silent storyteller that speaks beyond words and touches the human heart.
