Nis Puk
Nis Puk (in Sylt Frisian Nes Pük, in Danish also Nis Pug and Nis Puge) is a character from the area of folk tales. The name combines the names Nisse and Puk. The legendary figure is mainly known in the Schleswig area on both sides of the German-Danish border (also Sønderjylland ≈ Southern Jutland) in the German-Danish borderland.
Nis Puk shows the following characteristics:
Nis Puk is supposed to take care of the house, yard and animals if the residents are treating their own children and pets well, and to be a counterpoise within the house and the village.
Nis Puk is said to live in the attic or in a barn. Apparently, adults can no longer see him.
Once a year, at Christmas, a bowl of grits (with butter) must be brought to Nis Puk. If this doesn't happen, Nis Puk moves to another village. The house and farm would then be exposed unprotected to greed and decay.
An example of a folk tale is the legend of Nis Puk from the Lindewitt farm near Flensburg:
Nis Puk from the Lindewitt farm is said to have once sat on top of the dog house and used his legs to annoy the dogs underneath. Howling and barking, they are said to have tried to grab little Nis. The farm servant saw this, wanted to have fun and pushed the puk down from the hut. Nis Puk screamed loudly and vowed to take revenge. One day, Nis Puk untied the two black horses and chased them in the direction of the inn where the servant was carousing. He immediately noticed the commotion outside, rushed out, grabbed the two horses and wanted to take them back to the stable. He got on one of the horses and rode off. But, drunk as he was, on the way he fell asleep. The next morning he woke up, puzzled, on two black peat heaps in the Oxlund fen (near Großenwiehe).

November 13, 1809
Flensburg, November 13, 1809. Arrived at 5 A.M., having been four and a half hours on the route from ———; very dark. The country appeared to us to be a plain; little cultivated or inhabited and destitute of wood. Passed three small villages; this town the largest since leaving Copenhagen. Plays every night; pleasantly situated on the water. Rose at 9. Embarras¹ about money. Changed two guineas at 5 dollars courant.²
Sleswig,³ Monday evening, (I believe), November 13, 1809. Rose this morning at 1/2 p. 8, having gone twelve miles yesterday, as you already know, and four and a half miles this day, as I now tell you. The story is thus. Our danske⁴ paper money was exhausted and, indeed, often was worthless; our bills on Humbro⁵ could not be sold; fortunately I had reserved a few guineas, or we must have been on charity. These enquiries and the exchange of guineas which was finally done at 4 rix dollars, (a great loss), took up till 11. We then set off; for the first time a sort of cover on one seat of our wagon. Rose a long hill; when on the height could see no water about the town of Flensburg, as I told you. It must have been some cloud or an optical deception which led me to the error. We then rode among little sandhills; a plain on the right; some towns at a distance. Passed some fine barrows in perfect preservation; only one church. Two very small villages. The whole way sandy and heavy road; were five and one-half hours coming the four and one-half miles, equal to about twenty English. Arrived at 1/2 p. 4 and ordered horses to go to Redensborg.⁶ After this was done we learn that Redensborg is a fortified town, the gates of which are shut at 7 P.M. We therefore countermanded our horses and ordered them at 6. Got an excellent dinner at 7. Soup, fish, ducks, fowls, with cakes and apples for dessert; had two bottles wine, of which I drank my one-third. Changed three guineas at 4 rix dollars 24 sch. The tavern is in all respects excellent, the house, the beds, the maids.
1 Embarrassment. 2 Current money. 3 For Schleswig. 4 Danish. 5 For Hamburg. 6 For Rendsburg.

King Frederik and Queen Mary will make an official state visit to Germany at the end of October, Royal Central reports.
Following state visits to Sweden and Norway at the beginning of the summer, the king and queen will continue their visits to Denmark’s neighbouring countries until October. Thus, in October, the King and Queen will visit the German capital Berlin and the Danish minority in Schleswig-Holstein on visits related to EU accession. Denmark and Germany are linked by close cross-border co-operation on trade, green transformation and security policy.
On October 21, the King and Queen will be welcomed in Berlin by the President of the Federal Republic of Germany, Frank-Walter Steinmeier and Mrs. Elke Büdenbender. The King and Queen will then visit the Reichstag building in Berlin, home of the German Bundestag. Here Their Majesties will be received by the President of the Bundestag, Bärbel Bas.
During the visit, the King and Queen will join the Royal House of Sweden, the Royal House of Norway, the President of Finland, Kai-Göran Alexander Stubb, the President of Iceland, Halla Tomasdottir, and the President of the Federal Republic of Germany in a joint celebration of the 25th anniversary of the Nordic Embassy Complex in the German capital.
The first day of the visit in Berlin will end with an official dinner at Schloss Bellevue hosted by the President and First Lady.
On October 22, the King and Queen will visit Schleswig-Holstein and the Danish minority. This visit emphasises the close ties with the Danish population and promotes concrete cooperation across the border, especially in the field of green transformation. There will be visits to Kiel and Flensburg, the opening of an energy conference and a visit to Dannevirke.

List 5 things that make you happy, then put this in the askbox for the last 10 people who reblogged something from you! get to know your mutuals and followers (ू•‧̫•ू⑅)♡
Alright I got this and for once I will do it bc I had a not so great day today:
Plants. My own and others outside. This includes, but is not limited to: The jungle growing in my room, the wilderness I turned the garden into (so many cool bugs!) and the marimos I washed and put into fresh water earlier. The one in the skull jar is still floating <3
My fountain pens and inks and writing with them. Different ink colours, different nib smoothness etc. (Nothing too expensive. They are cheap chinese models or fleamarket scores. Some I even repaired myself when it was nothing too bad.)
Handcrafting all the things. Includes: Sewing, knitting, mending, fixing shit around the house, the electric saws and power tools from my dad. Just making things, esp. custom fit for just what I want/need, is great. Just don't give yourself accidental laquer poisoning while you are fixing something up...
My friends! Not sure why I put them so low on the list. They should be at 1. I love them so much and even if I am bad about going out and meeting up I miss them sometimes. I just don't have the energy to be around ppl lately (or to do any of the other fun things listed tbh. Just going downstairs to sit and stare at all the bugs in my garden is too much sometimes..)
Music and especially listening to the radio. I know a lot of ppl don't like it, but I love radio. It's different from youtube or spotify or your own playlists and if you find 1-2 stations your like it is so much fun. The ads suck sometimes, but thankfully they are not as bad as what I gathered from other countries' posting about radio and we even have a few fun ads here. (Flensburger radio ads my beloved xD I don't even drink beer, but they are almost always good for a laugh. Same with the radio ad ad xD)

The Love Hymn of Angeliterland
The Love Hymn of Angeliterland (by Marcus Petersen-Clausen, köche-nord.de)
Oh Angeliterland, so wonderful and fine, With your green meadows and the wide, pure field. In Schleswig-Holstein lies your magnificent territory, A paradise of love that I desire so much. The Baltic Sea coast, so gentle yet so wild, A place where souls meet and linger. The wind gently caresses the blonde grass, And I wish our love would never wane. The fields stretch out in lush green, An image of beauty that makes my heart boldly bloom. In the midst of this natural splendor, I find my love, pure and true. The charming villages, so idyllic and small, Where time stands still and the heart feels joyful. With timber-framed houses, so quaint and old, A place where love will never grow cold. The Angeliter mountains, majestic and proud, A sky full of stars and hearts so bold. Up here, we can forget the world, Give ourselves to love and tenderness, unforgettable. Oh Angeliterland, you are my place of the heart, Where I become so happy in your arms. In the shade of the trees and by the riverbank, We love each other forever, without any distress. The love in Angeliterland, so pure and genuine, A love ode that makes my heart sing. May this be our homeland forever and ever, In the beautiful Angeliterland, where love never fades.

Princess Alexandra Victoria of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glücksburg (1887-1957), c. 1930.
She was the niece of German Empress Augusta Victoria and was previously married to her first cousin Prince August Wilhelm of Prussia. On December 26, 1912, Alexandra Victoria gave birth to their only child, Prince Alexander Ferdinand of Prussia.
The couple divorced on March 16, 1920. August Wilhelm received custody of their son. On January 7, 1922, she married her second husband, Corvette Captain Arnold Rümann, in Grünholz . The marriage lasted eleven years and they were divorced in 1933.
Alexandra Victoria was trained by history painter , graphic artist and university professor Arthur Kampf in Berlin. During her studies, she also designed wallpaper patterns, made watercolors and studies with red chalk and pencil. During her first marriage, she ran two children's homes in Berlin selling her pictures. In 1920 she first exhibited her landscape paintings with views of the Glücksburg and the Flensburg Fjord and the area around Rheinsberg in the Flensburg Museum . From 1926 to 1932 she toured the USA with one Caravan and exhibited there, for the first time in New York in 1926.
In the US, it sold during the period over one hundred paintings, including landscapes, flower pieces and portraits. In 1942 she exhibited an oil painting at the Great Berlin Art Exhibition in the National Gallery that showed white peonies . After the Second World War , a boat-cabin-shaped caravan was built according to their information in a boat builder's shipyard in Kappeln or Schleswig.
She traveled with it and a dog through Europe and even Egypt, and sold her pictures for a living. In 1949 she drove to Wiesbaden in the caravan on a railroad car to heal a joint inflammation in the local Red Cross Hospital. In 1955 she traveled to Morocco alone. Her last trip was to France .
She died on April 15, 1957 in Lyon at the age of almost 70 years of sudden cardiac death. In the orangery of Glücksburg Castlefound in 1969 a memorial exhibition in her honor instead, which her cousin Prince Friedrich Ferdinand to House of Glücksburg arranged.
