I feel like running for the hills. . [This photo is from 1 year ago]
.
I’m choosing to not escape into the wilderness right now. I am staying put here in my house because this is the responsible thing to do.
.
Part of flattening the curve is not traveling. Not getting in a car and going on a roadtrip. Not doing anything (outside of being an ICU nurse) that puts me at risk of injury or illness.
.
Our healthcare system can’t handle anything else except dealing with this pandemic right now.
.
Going on a road trip is risky because of car accidents. .
Rock climbing, highlining, and other adventure sports put you at risk for injury. .
This virus has a 14 day incubation period, meaning that you can feel well, go on a trip and get sick AF out in the wilderness. .
You can spread the virus if you have it and don’t know it. You will have to get gas, food etc, wherever you’re going… Consider the things you will touch when you do this…
For mental health perhaps a local day hike or walk around your neighborhood is more appropriate right now .
Mother nature is resting, she is healing.
I’m choosing to stay home, put myself in timeout. Not using unnecessary gas or create more emissions. Forcing myself to introspect. Learning to be okay with staying home. Focusing on grounding to the max.
.
Consider these things when you start to pack your bags and run for the hills during this unprecedented time. .
.

This is what 900+ yards of thread, 10 yards of non-fusible lightweight interfacing, who knows how much jewelry wire, 31 yards of elastic, and 15 yards of fabric look like when it’s sewn into reusable, filtered masks. I was able to make 80 in this batch, and I’ve got 115 more cut out. I’m just waiting for a delivery of interfacing and wire to start making more. This batch is being washed and then they’ll be bagged for delivery to medical personnel. #covıd19 #flattenthecurve #flatteningthecurve #sewing #sewingproject #imsotired #writersofinstagram #igwriters #writerslife #crafty #craftyaf #craftyasfuck https://www.instagram.com/p/B-axb9SAixJ/?igshid=gogcfm4hym5u

so my boyfriend’s little sister is about three years old and she’s currently in some sort of super fancy pre-school. on the few occasions i’ve visited, the school looks pretty normal but you can tell it’s legit the teachers treat the kids the way they want them to act, i.e. they don’t baby them by holding their things, they make them put away their backpacks and coats when they come in, they tell them to use full sentences if they want something, etc.
you would think that the whole COVID-19 situation would cause pre-schools to stop running and let three-year olds live their best lives at home like most elementary and secondary schools––but nah, this pre-school is pulling University-level stuff and making the children Zoom for their class:
what on earth are three-year olds even talking about that is so high-quality that the show must go on and they must continue their conversations via Zoom????

It was great to get out of the house for a good jaunt. I needed to pick up some ingredients for kimchi and a couple of other things so I had to leave the house anyways. It really feels like spring is here, it’s nice having some sunshine after the mess that was the winter. It really makes me look forward to going hiking soon. There’s nothing nicer sometimes than just getting out into nature and enjoying the peace and quiet. I’m hoping other people get to get out and stretch their legs too and find that what we have here on the east coast isn’t that bad, there’s lots of beautiful trails around. I’m just happy to say we seem to be flattening the curve here and people are being civil with the whole quarantine thing. Maybe we will be back up and somewhat running by summer. I hope so, I don’t want to spend my birthday locked down still - August is a long way away... #quarantine #springhassprung #winterisgone #socialdistancing #funny #hiking #afternoonadventures #groceryrun #sunny #flatteningthecurve https://www.instagram.com/p/B_UrUthnu47/?igshid=1c9yriva9dhuy

Happy are the harmonious thought for today: “The Body Keeps Score” tells a story of traumatized war victims in Africa who sat numb and catatonic until someone started humming. The author watched in amazement as these women came alive when they joined in the song. Soon they were on their feet dancing and swaying to the rhythm–joy etched where fear and shame once covered. Like a symphony conductor, God-our Father-tunes the heart to healing. What once was a cacophony of sorrow and stress become joy and peace. I’ve seen this with my own children and their PTSD. Music heals the heart. As you pursue the peace of normalcy, the grief will still be present. Allow the Father to tune the discord into harmony. It may start with a tiny hum and small foot tap. But one day, hope will grow and happiness will sing a sweet, sweet song. . #dailyverse #dailybibleverse #cozytumblr #cozy tumblr #dailydevotional #stayhome #stayhealthy #bettertogether #youareimportant #bible #bibleverse #bibleverses #bibleversedaily #bibleversechallenge #hopefortoday #hopeingod #hope #peace #peacemaker #wewillovercome #shelterinplace #quiet #quietthechaos #quarantine #quarantinelife #coronavirus

SARS-CoV-2
What is COVID-19?
COVID-19 also known as SARS-CoV-2 is a strain of the nobel coronavirus, it is an infectious disease that targets the respiratory system of a human being and it can spread from person to person. The first case of COVID-19 was distinguished in Wuhan, China when a investigation of the outbreak. The World Health Organization (WHO), the outbreak was declared to be a Public Health Emergency of Internation Concern in the 30th of January of 2020.
How does Covid-19 spread?
The new strain of noble coronavirus can be spread through person to perosn with or withouth contact. First the World Health Organization or WHO thought that the new strain of novel coronavirus or also known as COVID-19 is spread through airborne trasmission, but later on it was announced in the public that it is passed through Droplet Transmission. Imagine sitting in your queue in the supermarket and someone sneezes of cough, the droplets from the cough or the sneeze may not directly land at you but the droplets can spread up to 3 feet from where he or she sneezes or coughs. If his or her hands are used to cover the nose or the mouth and he or she touches the safety rails, the doorknob, and other things or places that is accessible to be touched by your and others hand.
What are the symtomps of COVID-19
The COVID-19 virus affects different people in different ways. COVID-19 is a respiratory disease and most infected people will develop mild to moderate symptoms and recover without requiring special treatment. People who have underlying medical conditions and those over 60 years old have a higher risk of developing severe disease and death.
Common symptoms include:
fever
tiredness
dry cough.
Other symptoms include:
shortness of breath
aches and pains
sore throat
and very few people will report diarrhoea, nausea or a runny nose.
People with mild symptoms who are otherwise healthy should self-isolate and contact their medical provider or a COVID-19 information line for advice on testing and referral.
How to prevent having COVID-19?
*STAY AT HOME*(Be part of the solution, if you dont need or have anything important to do outside just stay at home and follow the guidelines that will be given)
But if you really need to go outside here are some tips on what to do.
1. Practice proper Handwashing and do it frequently.
youtube
If water and soap is available it is much advisable to wash your hands rather that just the use of alcohol. Because water and soap can kill the virus that maybe in your hands more effectively. (But when there is no available water and soap use 70% alcohol-based rub.)
2. Avoid touching your face.
Our hands touched many surfaces that we dont know if it’s contaminated or not, fight the urge of touching your face. Because when our hands is contaminated with different kind of virus and we touched our eyes, nose or mouth it can be the portal of entry of the virus to enter your body and make you sick.
3. Maintain Social Distance
You must heard or read this a lot in this time, so why do we really need to keep or practice social distancing. When someone sneeze or cough the little droplets spray from the nose or mouth can directly land on your or you can inhale it. So it is advisable to have atleast 3 ft distance from everyone not just the one who are sick but to anyone for the safety of everyone.
4. Practice Proper Respiratory Hygiene
It is most advisable now to use a Tissue when sneezing or coughing and disposing the used tissue right after you used it in a proper and enclosed trashcan or bin.
*UPDATE of COVID-19 in the Philippines as of APRIL 9, 2020*
As of April 9, 2020 the cases of COVID-19 are still rising up, everyday the confirmed cases are ranging from 100-500. Yes they say we are in the lowest cases of the new virus but it’s because our country is still not prioritizing in having a Mass Testing.
So what can you do while in the quarantine?
We are all not sure how long the ECQ of Enhanced Community Quarantine will last but as of now it is extended until 11:59 pm of April 30, 2020. But what can we do in our home.
Rather than streaming or binge watching new tv-series or K-Dramas in your room it is important to have knowledge about COVID-19 and being updated to what is happening and what are the new guidelines give to us.
Here are some things that we can do:
1. Sharing Knowledge through Social Media
But be careful not to believe everything you read on the internet, be smart and find reliable sources and STOP THE SPREADING OF FAKE NEWS.
2. Maintaning Proper Hygiene
Yes maybe we are not going outside so we think that we dont need to take a bath, the answer is NO. Stay in cleaning your body and practicing Proper and Healthy Hygiene in order to avoid acquiring other illness.
3. If you know you have the means to help others financially, DO IT.
There are plenty of ways to help and donate in this time it is not all about donating financially you can also donate basic needs and essentials to those who are less fortunate.
We are all fighting the something we cant see, but we can see how it affects our country and how many have died to it. We are all scared and thinking what will happen and when will it completely end. All we can do now is to help each other, educate ourselves about the current situations. Yes there are real life HEROES and they walk amongus, they are our FRONTLINERS who are risking their own life for the greater good of others, so dont forget to thank them during and AFTER this Pandemic.

Dr. Horacio Arruda flattening the curve
For those who don't know he's director of public health of Quebec. Since the pandemic started, he and prime minister François Legault are doing press conference everyday, where he gets into antics like this. But all in all, he does a really good job.

It’s called “Andamos”, which means “let’s walk”. This is a time to metaphorically walk together, responsibly: we MUST socially distance ourselves. I just read a terribly sad article in the @washingtonpost about the current situation in northern Italy, whereby the obituaries in local newspapers are filling up the pages. We need to react quickly and overtly, and to support one another: stay home, order stuff online, wash your hands regularly, disinfect, cover your mouth when you cough or sneeze. And please be kind. None of us WANT to live like this, but we have to, in order to #FlattenTheCurve and not overwhelm our healthcare systems all at once. We don’t want doctors to have to choose who does and who doesn’t get a life-saving respirator or meds, simply because there’s not enough to go around. “Overreacting” is the way to go. If we do so effectively, then nothing will happen, and then people will complain about the “over-reactors”. Fine... That’s when we will know that our actions worked. Let’s hope that happens. Together (in separate places), with love, understanding, and responsible behaviour, we will get through this! Love you!! 🧡❤️💜💙 #ClaireDesjardins #Covid19 #Covid_19 #Coronavirus #FlatteningTheCurve #CV https://www.instagram.com/p/B91kcnnJyhH/?igshid=571wcybf993v
