Cynder: *in the mess hall having lunch however...she brings the rootbeer out she been hiding it. She looks around to see if everyone is around* "hmm...I don't see Spyro or everyone else...."*she slowly begins to open it however the closer she gets to opening it the more skylanders and cadets appear in the mess hall and the closer they get to her.* "...I don't like the way Spyro is looking at me..." *Opens it a bit more and food fight is suddenly next to her.*

Food fight: "hey cynder!...what is that you have under your wing?"

Cynder: !! "Oh it's nothing food fight! Go back to causing you know...food fights." *Nervous chuckle*

Food fight: "okay!" *Leaps onto a table but is still eyeing cynder like a hawk and he just landed on flashwing's salad*

Flashwing: "hey! I'm eating here!- is that soda cynder?" *staring at cynder with food fight and Spyro.*

Cynder: "oh! Uh...no it's uh...apple juice that is in a can!"

Spyro: *suddenly next to her* "I smell rootbeer...."

Cue the entire academy suddenly staring at cynder.

Food fight and flashwing: *next to her acting like angels suddenly* "please can we have some?" *Puppy eyes* "PLEEEEAAASE?"

Cynder: *accidentally drops the can* "uhhh...." *Slowly backs away from Spyro, flashwing and food fight who are surrounding her.*

Everyone: "ROOTBEER!!!" "Starts chasing her*

Cynder: *runs* "ALL I WANTED WAS ROOTBEER!!!-"

As my first post, here are the two main characters of the story! (Note: Dreaming_Esper is my primary art account in Twitter, hence the watermark)

Tesla is a dragon if the Air element, and is the daughter of Whirlwind and Cynder! Though she is skittish and uncertain of her abilities, she'll do her best to help others!

Geo is an Earth elemental dragon, and the son of Spyro and Flashwing. He is cautious by comparison, but a good fighter and brave in the face of danger.

Together, Geo and Tesla are learning all they can at Skylanders Academy to become the best Skylanders they can be!

Notice: The Skylanders Academy TV show is not at all canon to this storyline.

My (kinda disjointed) thoughts on some Skylanders ships (part 1)

Trying something new today! It's gonna be hard to write an opinion on Skylander ships, considering the fact that most of them are crackships and half the characters have really basic personalities, but I'll try my best. I'm starting with the dragon Skylanders, but I'll eventually cover other Skylander pairings in the future.

Spyro x Cynder: 9/10. Pretty basic, all things considered. It's the ship people choose because they were hardcore Legend of Spyro fans and shipped Spynder back then. I do think they have a good dynamic; Cynder's evil past is ripe with angst and hurt/comfort potential, and Spyro being the one to save her naturally makes him a perfect candidate to provide the "comfort" part. At the same time though, I understand the appeal of having them remain platonic since as of 2023, Skylanders is the only Spyro media to have both appear without any hint of romance between them.

Spyro x Sunburn: 6/10. It's mostly an ironic ship I thought of as a joke during the early days back when I only did incorrect quotes exclusively about the dragon Skylanders. I don't think Sunburn and Spyro would really have a whole lot of interesting interactions.

Spyro x Whirlwind: 1/10. I don't see the appeal. To me, they're just friends or coworkers. Nothing more than that. The only reason anyone ships this is that they hate Cynder or Spynder, but they also don't want to ship Spyro with the humanoid girls or Sonic Boom because "interspecies romance yucky"

Whirlwind x Cynder: 9/10. The opposite of Spywind. These two have a great dynamic, Whirlwind being ostracized for her mixed heritage, while Cynder's distrusted for her past as a servant of Malefor. The two could find a lot of comfort in each other due to their shared experiences. The only reason it's not a complete 10/10 is because I prefer pairing the two with other characters.

Whirlwind x Sunburn: 8/10. It's aight. I guess the way their backstories contrast is interesting, Whirlwind used to be hated for being a dragon hybrid while Sunburn was coveted for the same reason.

Whirlwind x Camo: 7/10. No strong opinions.

Sunburn x Camo: 8/10. I can see why it has appeal. Two pranksters goofin' off together is always nice.

Whirlwind x Sunburn x Camo: 9/10. Whirlwind and her two supportive bfs, who are also dating each other. I think overall I prefer polyshipping these three over their separate ships, but the reasons why are based entirely on fanon I made up regarding the three.

Whirlwind x Zap: 5/10 ...Eh? Nothing wrong with it, but I don't really see the appeal either. It's better than Spywind because the entire basis for the ship isn't just "a hetero dragon ship for Spyro that isn't Cynder"

Side note: Damn, Whirlwind has a lot of ships. Why is that?

Drobot x Camo: 8/10. I think it's really funny. Drobot the serious, intelligent, and logical-minded, while Camo is a jokester who makes fruit explode for shits and giggles. The contrast between serious and silly always makes for a fun dynamic, and I think if the two ever got meaningful interactions, Camo would be the guy who'd get Drobot to loosen up.

Bash x Flashwing: 8/10. This pairing actually has ground to stand on since it's one of the only ships that have actual potential for being canon. Bash falling in love with Flashwing is literally half of her backstory, and it's a standout trait for Bash and Skylanders in general. It's rare for Skylanders characters to actually have romantic feelings for anyone, much less each other, which is what makes this ship so appealing, it's potential for exploring this idea. Sadly, canon has not seen that potential. There's been no actual exploration of the pairing in Skylanders media, not even the comics or Skylanders Academy, which literally exist to flesh out the goddamn Skylanders. The closest we get is apparently from a book called "Skylanders Universe: The Complete Collection, page 39" which states Flashwing canonically likes Bash back, though she won't admit it out loud (don't quote me on this, I got it from the wiki). That's it. That's all we get. If the pairing actually got explored in official Skylanders material, then it'd be a 9 or a 10.

Ch 3 Burning Love

Authors note: Cy granted me permission to use their artwork for the cover of my story so ha! A famous person on Tumblr is my new best friend! Anyway here's the next chapter or something.

"And then I said, 'the Aristocrats!" And then everyone laughed at Pop Fizz joked.

Peril turned to her newfound companions with gratitude in her eyes. "Thank you all for showing me around the academy after the chapter break. This place is grander... and quieter than I had imagined. I'm curious, am I the sole dragon here?"

Commander Cullen's golden hair glinted in the light as he spoke, "Actually, no. There's Cynder, a black dragon who's striving to master her darker inclinations." Peril's face shifted to one of concern, a reaction familiar to Cullen, reminiscent of when he mentioned his preference for dating humans or Elf girls. "Did I say something amiss?"

Peril's response carried a note of gravity, "It's just that there's a prevalent trope in media, portraying black dragons as inherently malevolent. It's rather prejudiced. Back in my realm, we had an entire race of black dragons unjustly branded as wicked, and then there was Darkstalker, an actual malevolent black dragon, who was ultimately bested by consuming a strawberry."

"A...strawberry?"

"Yup."

"Was he allergic?"

"Nope, he just became small."

Cullen made a fake cough. "Moving on, we also used to have a teammate named Spyro as well but he went on his own adventure to find where he came from."

"Hopefully he doesn't find his long lost mother but then she gets killed in THE FREAKING EPILOGUE OF THE FIRST BOOK!"

Eruptor whispered to stealth Elf. "Is she going to be ok? Seems like she has a lot of baggage?"

Stealth Elf responded in hushed tones, "Considering Spyro being the last of his kind and Cynder's father being the formidable Malefor, I'd say Peril's struggles are rather mid teir, if we don't factor in her impressive body count."

In the distance, Flashwing simulated coughs, vying for attention. "She's not the only dragon, you know. I've been in this series, though I never had any lines."

Eruptor's response was swift and direct, "Activision couldn't market you, so please, be on your way." With that, Flashwing vanished, leaving the group to continue their conversation

- Scene Change -

The grand chamber was dominated by the presence of Kaos, a figure of dark power and malevolent ambition. His angular features contorted into a sinister grin as he entered, the echoes of his footsteps reverberating off the cold stone walls. Smithers, his loyal assistant, trailed dutifully behind, his eyes cast downward in deference.

Kaos's voice cut through the air like a blade, the tone laced with a wicked glee as he began to speak of his plans. "Well, Glumshanks 2, it seems that in your realm, mortality is but a fleeting inconvenience. Dead one chapter, pop back up the next. While not quite the resiliency of the original, I suppose it will have to suffice. Now, let us discuss how we shall ascend to dominion over the Skylands!"

"Very well, sir. But do remember, you have a dinner engagement with Malefor later this evening. You'll be having tacos."

"Mal-what now?"

"Malefore, he's an evil dragon sir, voiced by Mark Hamil?"

"You mean Luke Skywalker!? Why would I ever join with a jedi?"

"Actually he also voiced the Joker from Batman."

"Even more reason not to join him! You can't trust clowns Glum 2." Kaos began to cry as he remembered a birthday without his mother where he hired a clown as it laughed at him and threw a pie in his face. "They sense weakness and strike with no fear...Cancel all plans with that overgrown lizard, we have more important matters to discuss than eating tacos."

"Right away sir."

"Ever since Spyro went searching for his long lost dragons things have been quiet boring but not anymore for I have found Spyro parents and if I can turn Spyro black and make him evil!"

"That might be racist sir."

"Fair point, if I can turn him dark!"

"Still racist."

A pause hung in the air as Kaos contemplated his words. "If Spyro's hue truly influences his emotions, then it stands to reason that his parents operate under similar principles. I must find a way to reach them and alter their colours, thus forging them into my loyal minions! How does that sound?"

"Very asute sir."

Kaos let out an evil laugh as he continued to lay out his sinister plans, the chamber seemed to darken further, as if the very walls themselves recoiled from the malevolence that hung in the air. The future of the Skylands hung in the balance, poised on the precipice of chaos and conquest.

I wanna say that my iteration of Crash and Spyros bond is Overinfatuated Fan/Flattered, but unnerved Celebrity, that forms into a Hero friendship!!

While Spyro did view him as Bisexual awakening, it is platonic, with Spyros admiration coming even more from the fact that Crash saw his worth as a Hero, and he does start acting normal !! He learns someday he'll be on Crashes level, and that Crash was once just as naive as him-

And FUN DOUBLE FACT !!! Since in my version Crash is a Celebrity to heroes (primarily in the Dragon world), Cortex is a Celebrity (ex) amongst Villains, hailed as being one of the greatest Villains, just overly ambitious, now a laughing stock and an example of being too overzealous

Also Coco would join the Academy and befriend Cynder, Flashwing, Hex and the other girls cause I want a girl group !! Elf runs a Club to encourage more girls to train as Skylanders :33

Food fight is still rustling a seagull in the backseat and he also sits in a babyseat,cynder is napping,wind up has sand stuck in his gears,hex is holding trigger happy inside the vehicle sense he is acting like a dog and is almost outside the car and has his tounge out, flashwing is taking pictures of herself and got sunburned.* "Alright guys how about we get something to eat?"

Food fight: *punches the seagull in the face* "yeah sounds like a good idea."

Hex: "trigger happy if you don't get your head back inside the vehicle right now your not getting ice cream!"

Roller brawl: *she goes to a fast food place* "hello we would like...eight burgers,a salad with no ardichoke's,7 drinks,ice cream and-"

Fast food employee: "sorry ma'am we ran out of all of those."

Roller brawl: "well what do you have left?"

Fast food employee: "fries and nuggets."

Roller brawl: "...." *Looks at the group and shrugs* "nevermind." *She leaves.*

Food fight: *chocking the seagull* "what kinda place only has fries and chicken nuggets?"

The annual Skylanders Academy Fundraiser had came around and featured many different things from a variety of food stalls to games to even events and all the whole point of this fair was to raise money so the academy can get new books, training equipment, etc. The mastermind behind the fair was none other than Spotlight. She first pitched the idea to Master Eon when she was a cadet twenty plus years ago and has been the event organizer ever since. Spot’s focus was current on the performance event. She was waiting for the next contestant to show up: Flashwing.

“Oh where is she? Flameslinger is about to finish his archery skill performance and she’s up next!” She looked up from her clipboard to see if the gem dragoness was around.

Were there Skylanders that you wanted to get but didn't because they were too rare, expensive or released too late ? Or Skylanders who'd like to try and play with once but not to own them ?

Actually, no not really. I only collect Skylanders I have interest in, their rarity never really is a thing for me unless it’s one I really, really want. I was able to get Echo, Blackout and Spotlight day of thank jebus, and I got the Knightmare and Knight Light DLC packs at a regular price (thank you amazon XnX’ ). Husbando got me Polar Whirlwind, I was able to snag Jade Flashwing and Scratch (dunno if Scratch is rare anymore, at one point she was), pretty much the ones I personally really wanted I was able to get. Thank lawd the times I went Skylander hunting, I had a job that allowed me to spend that much 8,D

I do wish they’d do like, a run of limited time unique skylanders (like alt colors etc.) while we all wait for the next game. Like, what if they did a Skylanders Academy Spyro figurine, heck would KILL for a Cynder one, or just some other toys to bide us over. I miss Skylander hunting, it was so much fun ;3;

Flashwing TLOS design! I’m picking Skylanders for the juiciest bits of canon and no one can stop me. She’s based off a Snowy Egret and I wanted her to ride the line between “very beautiful” and “uncanny valley”. She’s an Earth/Wind cross, and can make crystals. She’s a rather silly and vain thing, but more than makes up for it with skill and heart.
