Montera Solarventi sv14
In Everhaven, players could tame wild creatures and ride them as mounts. For the starter region, we would’ve started out with a few mounts: the Wyvern, the Landta Ray, the Perennial Pony, the Twicetail, and the Auto-Knight.
All artwork featured is by @/nicholaskole
More mounts were planned, and were even sculpted and animated. The Stone Shark, Sunwinder and Moon Bat didn’t make the cut.
Everhaven was canceled weeks before release by a blockchain company named Forte who acquired the dev studio Phoenix Labs last year and scrapped other WIP projects at the studio back in May 2024. Spread the word about this game to your friends and on social media, sign the petition, send Forte passive messages about wanting Everhaven back!

A little story to come out of the pre-writing process for the third part of "The Nameless Fanfic". This is set after "Verdict" (Story 2, ch. 5). A ship and her captain have a conversation about the events of the day. This is mostly drama.
Chosen Burdens
My quarters were as feed-blind as any crew member's. I could just stay here, have my breakdown in private, fall asleep exhausted and wake the next day to keep bailing the water we'd taken on.
But if the SSC's verdict came back the way I feared it would, I would regret that for the rest of my life.
I stuffed a blanket in an away bag and went up to the bridge. Brisote was there, as ke would, but when ke saw me, ke just nodded, locked kes station and left us alone.
I walked up to the cool glass of the viewport and leaned my forehead against it, hoping it was a comfort rather than an infringement. I did not know what to say. I did not come here to seek solace--Dandelion had had a far worse day than I, and as her captain, it was my duty to be there for her, not the other way around--but I feared that my voice would break the moment I started talking.
Which was, of course, why she spoke first.
"You should get some sleep, Captain. We've a long way to go tomorrow."
"Yes. We do." So my voice was there, after all. Good. "And this time I will take greater care not to put water on an oil fire."
"Is this about the SSC report? Or about the Friend?"
"Both."
The fact that she accurately identified the cases left a bitter taste in my mouth. Deservedly so.
"Would you like us to go through the incidents in question?"
I shook my head, and laid my hand upon the metal wall.
"Not unless hearing the detailed analysis would be of some use to you, and not an additional burden. As you rightly said, we've a long way to go tomorrow. I simply wanted to let you know that, upon reflection, I've come to the conclusion that I've made an already difficult situation much worse today. And as you took the brunt of the harm, I wanted to tell you that I will do better."
The words scratched uncomfortably at my heart. After today, I felt no confidence in being able to do better. But I was her captain; it was my duty, and it was all I could endeavor to do. If the sunwinds favored us, perhaps I even would.
"Upon reviewing the day's logs, I find I do not agree. The situation was already difficult, yes, but your actions have generally had a beneficial effect on its outcome. You have woven your roots to drain well, I feel."
I turned my back to the wall and looked up at her, feeling my lips twist into a bitter smile. Dandelion was never one to hold back with her criticism if she felt it was deserved, so I knew she was speaking the truth. But she and I often disagreed on such matters, and right now I felt like my roots held water tightly enough to sink us both.
"Now I must ask if you want to compare maps. And - as your captain - you are to answer for yourself only, relinquishing your duty of care to your crew. Mine takes priority."
"Oh? Then I will remind my captain that ke also has a duty to consider kes officers' analysis, even if ke does not like what ke hears."
The familiar dry humor made me want to chuckle even as my throat seized again. I swallowed the lump and said, "I would not have you talk me into a false sense of security as a final mercy."
I knew immediately that I had said the wrong thing, because she flinched. It is difficult to explain to someone not born on Arborea Cosmica how I knew that - I had no feed connection with her, after all, just her voice and the slight vibration of the hull where I touched it with fingers and back. But I felt it anyway.
So much for not adding any more rotting water to an oil fire today! Taproot and stars! I should have had that breakdown in private, after all.
When she answered, her voice had an eerie calm to it.
"You are not dying. If I were to lie for the sake of soothing you, it would make your judgments worse for the future. A lie would not serve you, nor would it serve your crew."
"Would it not?" I asked. "I fear that if the SSC decides to decommission you, you would find it somehow beneficial to try and unburden my conscience. Perhaps to ensure I could keep taking care of the crew, for a time at least. But should the worst come to pass, I will want the decision to weigh as it should. Promise you will say nothing for the sole purpose of taking it from me, and I will listen."
"Oh, my friend," she said so quietly it was almost a whisper. "Even if there were no oaths between us, I would not take your chosen burdens away from you. Not unless there were a clear and present danger from letting you keep them. And this I promise you: there is no such danger here. I stand by what I said: we have woven our roots to drain well, and you are to take credit for that, not blame. Regardless of what happens next."
The fondness in her voice was too much.
I felt myself slide down the wall, fingers digging into the floor, feeling sick with myself. Was this why I had come to the bridge, specifically? So I could not tell her to cut her eyes and ears? What rot.
"Give me a moment," I choked out the only thing I could think of. "And then we can go through our maps."
As she had promised, my friend did not try to take the weight from my shoulders. She waited by my side until I could take it up again, and then we took our pails and continued with getting the rotting water out of our roots. Good drainage or not, there was still more than enough for the both of us.

Okay, story 3 draft complete. :) Originally I thought there was no point in breaking them up (see end), but the structure here works out pretty well as an autonomous thing, and also this story is very somber and weird in tone - it will be good to have it separately anyway.
So now I need my standard week or so to get my bearings, edit and name this one (beyond the working title "System Collapse: ART Edition", which would be unnecessarily confusing), and then part 4 - and maybe a little standalone.
But meanwhile, without further ado...
Chapter 15: Jump
For Dandelion to be a fully effective firewall, I had to route my connections entirely through her, which was easier if I were actually inside her hull. So that was why, even though our initial feed workspace still had four of us in it (Iris was accompanying ART up until the wormhole, like I had during the very first test jump), I was physically on the Tenacious' bridge, watching her crew prepare for launch.
"Perihelion to Tenacious," Seth's voice said on the radio. "Towing clamps are secured, and we are ready for the test jump. Over."
Reed glanced at Phoibe, who gave kem a thumbs up, then said "We copy, Perihelion, towing clamps confirmed secured."
Ke looked up, and Dandelion said, "Secondary reactor control released to Perihelion, systems nominal." (Even in her minimal configuration, with most of her modules disconnected, Dandelion was bigger than ART, so in the end the engineers just decided it would be easier to give ART partial control of her engines to tow them both.)
"Tenacious and crew ready for test jump. Sunwinds sharp, Perihelion--Tenacious out." Captain Reed said.
Dandelion's performance reliability gave a little wobble, and Iris and I sent her simultaneous queries. It's nothing, she said. But of all the phrases to become traditional...
She tapered off. Iris was about to send a follow-up query, but ART said, Approaching wormhole, and Iris switched to that. I could feel her awe bleeding through into the shared workspace.
Whoa, she whispered. It's like a really, really deep well. I didn't know it looked like that to you, Peri.
She sent us her processing of ART's camera feed. To normal human sight, the wormhole wasn't visible until it opened--humans had to put up glowing markers around it to show each other where it was. But to ART and to Dandelion, it always looked like a gaping black tunnel, a silver film glistening somewhere deep within. The darkness rippled very slightly, and Iris felt dizzy just looking at it.
Interesting. Gurathin called it a well in his experiment, too, ART said.
Mmhm, Dandelion said. There is a very old legend about stars being easier to see in daytime from the bottom of a well. Sadly, that is as untrue in the jump as it is on a planet. But no matter how deep the well, or how difficult the currents, there is always a way out.
ART stopped near the wormhole, pulling in data from around itself and probing the wormhole lightly. Then it said, It is time to disconnect, Iris.
Iris sent ART a string of incomprehensible pings, which it returned.
See you on the other side, Peri.
I will be requesting additional information long before that.
And I'll be there to give it. Good luck.
Iris disconnected.
"All crew, prepare for wormhole transit," Seth said. "Three. Two. One. Entry."
And ART was gone.
If I hadn't seen it happen to Gurathin, my threat assessment would have gone completely haywire. As it was, it jumped only 30 percent. But still. Watching ART dissolve most of what made it ART in order to turn all of that into something as amorphous and liquid as the wormhole medium itself, something that extended a million grasping tendrils into the roaring currents, was terrifying.
(Yeah. Good thing Dandelion had filters. Experiencing that raw would have ground my brain into SecUnit pulp.)
"ART," I said on all channels. "Status report."
"Present and calculating trajectory," ART answered.
I could see it--whatever it was right now--pulling all the data together, like it was weaving a cable out of fragmented metal filaments. The cable was definitely leading somewhere.
"Calculations coming in," Brisote said. "Looking good so far."
ART requested additional data, which Matteo and Iris provided. It shored up its cable and gave it a small tug. The cable held.
Dandelion, sitting between us, tensed, like she was a human holding her breath.
"Trajectory calculations complete. Course laid in. Wormhole drive engaged," ART said. "Navigators, please confirm course."
Matteo and Brisote gave the same corrections, and ART introduced them, then said: "Drive engaged. Best speed."
We started moving, and Dandelion finally let out that breath she'd been holding. So did I.
There still wasn't enough of ART to do much more than slowly pull the tendrils it had let out back from the flow. It left the bulk of them in place for now, to sense its way as it went, but mostly it followed the trajectory, not going even a tenth of a degree off course. ("Sunbleached ship," Brisote muttered, impressed.) ART had marked the cable with knots in places where it thought the tendrils would retract and reconnect, and the warning system it designed worked--its crew took over for it in critical moments like Dandelion's did for hers, and they knew where the rapids were in advance.
Dandelion and I sat there mostly silent, watching. Both of us had our own workspaces ready, but so far we were only dumping data there, not analysing it. Finally, she said to me: Approaching exit point. Be ready.
"We are on approach to Stribor 2. Final course corrections requested."
Matteo provided their latest calculations, and ART said: "Corrections laid in. Initiating jump engine shutdown. Memory..."
And Dandelion slammed her firewall down between us, because the moment ART pulled enough tendrils into itself, it lunged. The strike crashed through the unfinished shield, then broke against Dandelion's defenses. ART was coming back into itself, reorienting--and the first thing it had wanted was me.
"Steady, Perihelion." Dandelion said in her beacon-voice. "You are still within the jump. Hold steady."
ART was transmitting via feed, and Dandelion caught it, filtered it for magnitude, and passed the data to me. My skin crawled.
There is a parasite controlling my body. Devouring my programming, piece by piece. ART sent. My crew is gone, and it is because I have been careless. The parasite will devour me and my husk will be used to kill more people. They will use my databanks to find everyone I know. Feed them to the parasite that will have eaten me and my crew.
It was looking for a way out, desperately, and not finding one. It was standing there, in the darkness that was the worst day of its life, and there was no way out.
"Perihelion, hold course!" Seth said tensely.
Beside me, I could see Dandelion unfurling her outputs, readying to take her reactors back. Brisote was already feeding her the necessary string of numbers.
"ART," I said. "ART, you're not there anymore. You already found me, ART, and we got your crew back. They're here, we're here, and we've got you. You've already found your way forward. Keep going, ART."
ART sent out a ping with my feed ID, and I returned one with its own ID. ART processed the handshake simultaneously with the memory, then sent some tendrils back out. They flicked over the cable, not finding purchase, and ART said: "Course correction requested, Matteo. I can't see."
"Course correction calculated!" Matteo called back, and added a string of numbers.
ART still couldn't see. But it laid in the course correction blind and kept moving anyway, pulling in more and more of its tendrils, rebuilding more and more of its structure up until something clicked, space outside our viewports became normal, and ART said, "Normal space re-entry complete. I am back."
Captain Seth said, relief palpable in his voice: "Welcome back, Perihelion. And congratulations."
The human crews erupted into cheering, hugging and high-fiving. (Iceblink nearly tried to hug me, but stopped herself in time, and instead sent me an incomprehensible o/\o sign in the feed instead. I sent the same sign back, and she grinned, looking slightly away from me like most of my humans did. Then she linked into ART's newly unrolled feed and feed-hugged ART instead.)
In our feed, ART said, sounding displeased with itself: I still tried to grab SecUnit. I will need to improve.
I could see Dandelion analyzing the attack in her workspace, thoughtful. Then she said, Reflex is reflex, Perihelion, and nothing to be ashamed of. In any case, the storm drained well and there was no harm done. We'll work to improve the shield further now. And judging from this data, I think some records on Trellin may be very helpful in that regard.
ART pulled Seth into our workspace.
I have our next research object. We are going to Trellin in order to improve my architecture.
Good thing we have a lot of grant time remaining, Seth said dryly. That's a very long trip to try and hide from the higher-ups. What's on Trellin?
Archival data on early human-node ship integrations, too large in volume to effectively transfer long-distance, Dandelion said. But we were planning to make a return trip soon anyway. Perihelion and crew are more than welcome to join us, Captain Seth.
We'll gladly take you up on that offer, Dr. Tenacious. Thank you for all of your help thus far.
My pleasure. It's always good to see a new ship get their wings.
ART said on our private channel, Approximate time to next deployment calculated. In 21 standard cycles, we are leaving for Trellin. It thought for a moment, then added. This was the longest calculation in my existence.
I didn't think anyone except ART could have finished that calculation at all. But it did, and now we were going to Trellin.
Wait. If going home was Dandelion's next mission, then... I quickly pulled up Mensah's planned long-term timelines, and yes. This had to be the joint mission she was planning with the Tenacious after the initial agreements came into force.
ART. I think Mensah's coming with us? With them, I mean. On board the Tenacious. I think Preservation is sending her to Trellin.
Please make the suggestion that she travel with us instead. ART said in a tone that meant 'I am about to become an absolute menace'. That way Turi will finally have to learn to recycle their laundry on a regular basis.

My (kinda disjointed) thoughts on some Skylanders ships (part 1)
Trying something new today! It's gonna be hard to write an opinion on Skylander ships, considering the fact that most of them are crackships and half the characters have really basic personalities, but I'll try my best. I'm starting with the dragon Skylanders, but I'll eventually cover other Skylander pairings in the future.
Spyro x Cynder: 9/10. Pretty basic, all things considered. It's the ship people choose because they were hardcore Legend of Spyro fans and shipped Spynder back then. I do think they have a good dynamic; Cynder's evil past is ripe with angst and hurt/comfort potential, and Spyro being the one to save her naturally makes him a perfect candidate to provide the "comfort" part. At the same time though, I understand the appeal of having them remain platonic since as of 2023, Skylanders is the only Spyro media to have both appear without any hint of romance between them.
Spyro x Sunburn: 6/10. It's mostly an ironic ship I thought of as a joke during the early days back when I only did incorrect quotes exclusively about the dragon Skylanders. I don't think Sunburn and Spyro would really have a whole lot of interesting interactions.
Spyro x Whirlwind: 1/10. I don't see the appeal. To me, they're just friends or coworkers. Nothing more than that. The only reason anyone ships this is that they hate Cynder or Spynder, but they also don't want to ship Spyro with the humanoid girls or Sonic Boom because "interspecies romance yucky"
Whirlwind x Cynder: 9/10. The opposite of Spywind. These two have a great dynamic, Whirlwind being ostracized for her mixed heritage, while Cynder's distrusted for her past as a servant of Malefor. The two could find a lot of comfort in each other due to their shared experiences. The only reason it's not a complete 10/10 is because I prefer pairing the two with other characters.
Whirlwind x Sunburn: 8/10. It's aight. I guess the way their backstories contrast is interesting, Whirlwind used to be hated for being a dragon hybrid while Sunburn was coveted for the same reason.
Whirlwind x Camo: 7/10. No strong opinions.
Sunburn x Camo: 8/10. I can see why it has appeal. Two pranksters goofin' off together is always nice.
Whirlwind x Sunburn x Camo: 9/10. Whirlwind and her two supportive bfs, who are also dating each other. I think overall I prefer polyshipping these three over their separate ships, but the reasons why are based entirely on fanon I made up regarding the three.
Whirlwind x Zap: 5/10 ...Eh? Nothing wrong with it, but I don't really see the appeal either. It's better than Spywind because the entire basis for the ship isn't just "a hetero dragon ship for Spyro that isn't Cynder"
Side note: Damn, Whirlwind has a lot of ships. Why is that?
Drobot x Camo: 8/10. I think it's really funny. Drobot the serious, intelligent, and logical-minded, while Camo is a jokester who makes fruit explode for shits and giggles. The contrast between serious and silly always makes for a fun dynamic, and I think if the two ever got meaningful interactions, Camo would be the guy who'd get Drobot to loosen up.
Bash x Flashwing: 8/10. This pairing actually has ground to stand on since it's one of the only ships that have actual potential for being canon. Bash falling in love with Flashwing is literally half of her backstory, and it's a standout trait for Bash and Skylanders in general. It's rare for Skylanders characters to actually have romantic feelings for anyone, much less each other, which is what makes this ship so appealing, it's potential for exploring this idea. Sadly, canon has not seen that potential. There's been no actual exploration of the pairing in Skylanders media, not even the comics or Skylanders Academy, which literally exist to flesh out the goddamn Skylanders. The closest we get is apparently from a book called "Skylanders Universe: The Complete Collection, page 39" which states Flashwing canonically likes Bash back, though she won't admit it out loud (don't quote me on this, I got it from the wiki). That's it. That's all we get. If the pairing actually got explored in official Skylanders material, then it'd be a 9 or a 10.
