Sometimes I think it would be really terrifying if Reverse Flash ever got over his obsession with Barry and stayed evil. Tales from the dark multiverse only gave a glimpse of that reality and it is still terrifying to think of. He can reshape and rewrite every single event in DC universe on a whim. The New Gods would watch as the earth is constantly being subjected to radicle changes with awe and disbelief. The entire timeline would be Reverse Flash’s own little sandbox until someone like the Spectre intervenes. But who knows? Maybe Reverse Flash would be able to kill DC’s spirit of vengeance with the power of the negative speed force? Maybe he prevents the creation of the Spectre entirely? He could control anything and everything on a whim.

What.
I did not know this was even a thing in the comics?? Aka someone help me understand this pls.
I know speedsters and their lightning rods age hella-lot slower than normal humans, and speedsters don’t age within the Speedforce (except for that time Bart aged to an adult after Crisis within the SF).
I know after his death as the Flash (killed by Inertia/Rogues), the Legion yanks him out of the SF and there’s a short stint of him with his “Kid Flash” mantle. Then when Flashpoint struck, he disintegrated into the SF. Due to Rebirth happening while he was in the SF and thus the timeline changed, everyone just forgot about him lmao because he was “trapped”.
During the Flash War run of Rebirth, Hunter Zolomon tricks Wally into breaking the Force Barrier, which allows Bart to come out of the SF as “Impulse”. Though he’s once again reverted to a teenager and participates in the YJ 2019 run as Impulse.
So… between all this when does he learn this age manipulation? Is it just from his Speedforce knowledge due to spending so much time trapped in it? I doubt Bart learned it from Eobard, who’s the only other speedster that can manipulate age (but that’s due to Eobard’s connection with the Negative Speedforce). Is it simply due to the fact that they’re related? Or both??
Is this why he comes back as a teen?
PS: I’ve only read his death (Fastest Man Alive: Lightning in a Bottle), and the YJ 2019 series where he finds Conner. The rest is from research bc I’m too lazy to read all of it, and don’t know the order/name of the runs.
Look how cute he is when he returns:
You know when Bart figures out how to manipulate his aging with his connection to the Speed Force like Eobard can he is going to use that to his full advantage. Particularly for getting free food or a child's discount in restaurants. His only problem is getting someone he knows to actually go along with the deception because he needs an adult to take him in the first place and Kon just refuses to because it's weird to him and Wally is too busy, but Hartley will 100% of the time and they play it up the cringiest way possible larping as the most obnoxious father and son duo for the sole reason that it annoys Wally.

The flashes have:
• weird found family that is a mix of a found family and blood family and most of them actually truly get along and care about each other even if some of them are little sassy.
• have powers where the upper echelon of their brood, with the most power are verging on multiverse and time gods and the ones just starting out still range on the side of most destructive meta humans on earth, if they are still human at all.
• their most interesting villains are crime syndicate with a amazing dental and medical plan who usually have something approaching morals.
I think they make other heroes only a little jelly beans cause they have all these boons and they are still interesting as characters to watch.
like it's actually so crazy if you think about it. in 1938 the DC universe time began. but the way time works in DC it's easier to think of time as the addition of every second. it's static not accumulative. 1 second 1 second 1 second 1 second and on to eternity. A life is made up of seconds coming together 1 2 3 4 5 6. But this didn't happen not for 18 years. Until 1956 when Barry Allen was struck by lightning in both canon and out of universe. Things started moving Forward
(The Flash: Rebirth)
And he made the speed force. He keeps the present in the present and the rest of time away by generating the kinetic force that makes the lightning that gives the Flashes their speed.
Barry canonically moves Time forward by existing but he can also force it. He did so twice once fighting reverse flash/zoom and once fighting the turtle. When fighting Turtle, Barry connected himself to every living being except Turtle and pulled them all into the future by a few seconds to thwart his Turtley plans.
And Wally well I have a theory that Wally stores the memories the moments added together that make a life. In 1986 Barry reset the universe and everyone's minds got Fucked. Before Final Crisis when they bring back Wally from the speedforce it causes Bruce and Hal to remember Barry and incorrectly assume he's the one coming back. In 2011 when Flashpoint happened Barry did it Without Wally. Wally who was in the speedforce and got stuck again and once again everyone's backstories reset and their memories were fucked. In 2016 when Wally breaks out he returns memories to people. With Infinite Frontier this is the first universe reset where Wally's speed force is actively contributing to what happens and not only do people retain their current memories they start getting All their old memories back.
Reverse Flash represented paradoxes in time. But in the most recent run Barry phases through him giving him some speed force. And Eobard gets reset to how he should have been. Becoming connected to Barry fixes his Present. That kinetic wall between the present and time.
Bart I have no idea what they're doing with him they should be remembering that he's the best Fighter of the flashes. That he's vicious and blitzes enemies like Godspeed. Also how Bart is the most scatter brained and seemingly can not slow down unlike his grandpa and cousin. Yet he also is the only one of the entire family to be able to retain what he's learned forever. And has I think the greatest feats of cosmic awareness basically teaching himself about the meta of the DC universes reboots. Bart I think should represent the inevitability of the future coming. No matter how many changes you think you can make a future will always be there. Something to be said for him being a character created during Zero Hour year too I'm sure of it.

Savitar and Reverb for the character ask game, just to be a bit cheeky here if you're okay with it :))
YESSS 🥳 I love the chance to talk about Savitar more, thank you thank you
Savitar
How I feel about this character: I really like him, but uh…in canon, he’s just fine. He’s much cooler in fanfics, canon dropped the ball on him. He should’ve been more Comics Future Flash, less Comics Savitar/Zoom 2.0
All the people I ship romantically with this character: Reverb 💞
(Also Iris and Cisco, but like...not in an actual relationship lol more in a toxic one-sided kind of way. The dynamic intrigues me)
My non-romantic OTP for this character: Barry (you might've noticed I don’t tend to ship doppelgängers 😅 but I do love their platonic dynamics, I feel like that says a lot about them!)
Killer Frost would be here if Savitar ever treated her as an equal 💀 unfortunately, he didn’t (it baffles me how some fics act like he canonically did?? She was very much his underling, that’s no secret)
My unpopular opinion about this character: he was terrible in s3 apart from the episodes where he was unmasked. Everything else was a waste of time
One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: Get rid of the scar, have him impersonate Barry throughout s3. Sporadically, and without alerting Barry, but in such a way that he slowly erodes Barry’s relationships and makes him think he’s crazy. You can even still have the Flashpoint meta nonsense going on in the background...but here, it’s a distraction, and it’s working. And then, either to us or to Barry, reveal Savitar unmasked by like...episode 10 or 15 or something. Maybe just to us in episode 10, and to Barry in like...episode 17 or 20
Then cut out the amnesia plot or make Savitar central to that episode. And just like that, he’s more of a threatening presence without trying to make him a Zoom knock-off.
I have another potential fix-it involving him, Iris, and Barry, but...I’m plotting that currently, so I’ll keep my lips sealed about it for now 😉
Reverb
How I feel about this character: He’s awesome! An awesome foil to Cisco 💞 and super underrated
All the people I ship romantically with this character: Savitar
My non-romantic OTP for this character: Killer Frost, I feel like they had a really cool underexplored dynamic that I would’ve liked to see more of
My unpopular opinion about this character: I wish we’d seen more of him tbh 😭 maybe in Cisco's nightmares in s3?
One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: To expand on the above: we know from s2 that Cisco struggled with one day becoming Reverb and worked through it. Which is great, but...when Caitlin started fr turning into Killer Frost, it would’ve been neat if Cisco once again struggled with turning into Reverb and had nightmares about it. And maybe he could’ve fr turned (perhaps with some prodding by Savitar, who loves Cisco deep down and wants him by his side), and we could've gotten an E1 Saverb (or Savifrostverb, if Savitar felt like treating KF as an equal) team-up 👀
Alternatively, as in this fic (thank you @kitkatt0430/@starstruckpurpledragon, you’re a gem in this fandom), Savitar could’ve pulled Reverb out of his timeline and teamed up with him that way. I just really wish I could've seen a Saverb team-up, it would’ve been SO COOL 😭
character ask game!
#when i say i would love to talk about savitar whenever#i need y’all to know that i’m so serious#he’s my unhinged blorbo who was done dirty by canon 💞#never be shy to send me an ask about him#character ask game#savitar#reverb#saverb#anti savifrost#the flash

Can we all take a moment to appreciate just how much Barry knows about his powers. Like, it's crucial for someone with the type of power levels he has to understand, not abuse, and have control of his powers, and I feel like that's not given enough attention.
Take this, for example, when Wally loses control of his powers in Heroes-in-Crisis. He was so overcome by the grief of loosing his kids, his family, of feeling alone, that he just couldn’t hold on any longer and in a moment of weakness he let go of the control he had on the speedforce, resulting in him accidently killing Arsenal, Blue Jay, Commander Steel, Hot Spot, Lagoon Boy, Gunfire, Red Devil, Gnarrk, Nemesis, Protector, Solstice, Tattooed Man, and Poison Ivy. All of them not only were heroes who (for some) were once Wally's teammates, but they were his friends.
He just couldn't keep control of the power he was gifted, and it resulted in him killing those he loved. And that's something that needs to be acknowledged and understood.
And this isn't some newbie speedster whos just learning the ropes of their powers. Wally even says it himself, he's been doing this since he was a 𝘬𝘪𝘥, and he still lost control.
I feel like most people don't understand that being a speedster isn't just about being fast or being the lovable goofball who's smart but stupid at the same time, but about being in control and being accepting.
I get people who read the comics mostly do or have a vague understanding, but those who just know of the flash through the movies or shows or just from general knowledge just don't seem to understand how crucial it is for speedsters to know how to use their powers.
Like when Barry made Flashpoint to save his parents. He abused his power, and it resulted in everything he loved crumbling around him and never being exactly the same.
A phrase I really like from The Flash Cw show that explains this is, "See this coffee cup right here? Think of it as the space-time-continuum. Whenever you go back in time, it breaks. Now... you can reset the timeline, you can try to fix it, but no matter how hard you try... it's never gonna be exactly how it was. " when Jay explained to Barry why he couldn't just change the timeline for his personal benefit.
Speedsters aren't gods, their people, who, for whatever reason, were given extraordinary abilities. Abilities that at times do seem to rival that of the gods. And some speedsters realize that and decide to take advantage.
A prime example is Eobard Thawne when he was unable to let go of his vendetta, and decided to destroy Barry's life by changing the past and the future. Aka, killing Barry's mom, Nora.
This led to Barry's father, Henry, to be falsely accused and sentenced for the crime, leaving Barry without his parents.
There are plenty of other times where Eobard used his powers to change the timeline like Barry did, and make himself the hero and Barry be the villain, or even times where he made the world think 𝘩𝘦 was Barry, and so on. The same can be said for the other speedster rogues like God Speed and Zoom and so on that abuse the speedforce for their own personal gain, and that's a prime testament to how important it is for speedsters to not abuse their powers.
I mean, they can literally rewrite history.
Not to mention, Barry literally outran death itself. Like, wtf. Thats not something you just 𝘥𝘰.
Speedster's are even wanted by God's, which says a lot.
So, yeah. Let's just appreciate how much Barry knows about his powers and how he decides not to just erase whatever tf he wants about the timeline.
