Thomas Bolyn Smothers III (February 2, 1937 – December 26, 2023) Comedian, composer and musician, best known as half of the musical comedy duo the Smothers Brothers, alongside his younger brother Dick.

The Smothers Brothers initially wanted to be folk musicians. Tom did not feel that he was good enough to be a professional musician, but he was funny enough to do comedy. The two began adding comedy bits to their act.

Tom's first foray into the medium of television was as a regular on The Steve Allen Show in 1961. He followed that role with a single episode of Burke's Law.

The Smothers Brothers next appeared on the CBS sitcom The Smothers Brothers Show from 1965 to 1966.

Tom Smothers negotiated creative control over their next CBS show, a variety show entitled The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour in 1967.

Other TV series he appeared in were Love American Style, Fitz and Bones, Fantasy Island, The Love Boat, Hotel, Benson, Dream On, Suddenly Susan, Maggie and Norm. (Wikipedia)

It’s crazy how everyone knows how neglectful Cassius is to Keefe yet no one does anything about it. Yes the Elves are peaceful people. That’s fine but…how do you just turn a blind eye at the clear signs of neglect? Keefe is struggling internal and external. Why would you try to have him with his father and not any other guardian. Better yet why do they have him alone? He’s always alone. The only time he was around people is when he was Elwin. Yes Keefe has his flaws but not one person was willing to take him in, so he could stay away from Cassius? Matter a fact, nobody says anything about it either. Nobody corrects Cassius or snaps at him. They just allow him to do his shanigians as if what he is doing and saying is fine. I don’t care if they don’t want to step on any toes. Sophie should NOT be the only one stepping up to Cassius about him behavior. That’s insane to me.

hey so not to be super negative or anything but oh my GODDDDDD i hate tv/movie adaptations of books so bad. why does it actually seem like they genuinely have a competition on which can be the most disloyal/disingenuous to the source material? how much character assassination they can get away with? how many tiny little details they can change for absolutely no reason? maybe i’m just being insufferably and disgustingly loyal to my books, but i just honest to god cannot understand why these platforms pick up these stories if they want to write something completely different. THAT’S WHAT FANFIC IS FOR. (to clarify: this is NOT a diss on fanfic in the slightest, i adore fanfiction and it has truly been a formative part of my life and one that i treasure dearly. all i’m saying is that maybe some of these people working on these adaptations would find a more suitable home there, seeing as their ideas are often more akin to an au fic than the actual source material.)

and what pisses me off so bad is that these platforms purchase the rights to these stories, make some half-assed wattpad fic of them, and then cancel them almost immediately because they don’t perform well — shocker. (cough cough NETFLIX). but since they did that, (and please correct me if i’m wrong, because i genuinely want to know), it becomes virtually impossible for any other platform to pick it up! so not only did they half-ass it and completely change them, but they essentially ruined the chances of it ever being done correctly. so often, i see so many things — whether they be major plot points or tiny details — changed when there was genuinely zero reason to. like sincerely, i just want to know WHY?!

!!SPOILER ALERT FOR THE FOLLOWING BOOK/TV SERIES!!: shadow and bone, six of crows, a good girl’s guide to murder, (will most likely continue to add on because i’m a little neurotic).

࣪𖤐.ᐟ inserted soc plotline into shadow and bone — completely reversing, flip flopping, and making up new plot material just to add it in

࣪𖤐.ᐟ GAVE THE DARKLING A NORMAL, PUBLIC NAME?! AND REVEALED HIS FIRST NAME ALMOST IMMEDIATELY?!

࣪𖤐.ᐟ completely fucked over one most of my favorite nikolai scenes — where he confronts the king about his abuse towards genya

࣪𖤐.ᐟ this one i guess i can somewhat understand (albeit begrudgingly), but removing literally almost the entirety of my favorite book in the series, siege and storm

AGGGTM:

࣪𖤐.ᐟ made nat da silva andie’s best friend?! which is quite literally the most inane and stupid thing they could have done with her, literally erased her entire character — why not just make a fucking new one atp?

࣪𖤐.ᐟ where is stanley forbes. i guess they could just add him in in season 2, but it removes so much of the intensity behind the twists of ggbb. takes all the wind out of its sails, iykwim.

࣪𖤐.ᐟ pip calling victor by his first name only, removing that close dynamic which felt super weird

࣪𖤐.ᐟ where the hell did “chicken” come from?! i must have missed something in the show, but actually what reason was there to change her nickname from “pickle” to “chicken”? i’m actually so confused by that.

࣪𖤐.ᐟ WHY. IS THERE A RANDOM RAVE CAVE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FOREST. WHO BUILT THAT. WHO BUILT A FULLY FUNCTIONING PARTY/RAVE CENTER IN A RANDOM CAVE/CATACOMB IN THE FOREST. why was that added?? i’m SO confused about that genuinely. why was that necessary? the calamity parties in general were just so weird in the show because why was it so secretive and insane? in the book, they literally just walk into this dude’s house where the party and no one gives one singular fuck because it’s literally just a high school party. an intense one for sure, but it’s just a party. remember jamie walking into one in ggbb and no one gaf because it was not this super intense, secretive thing that it was made to be in the show.

࣪𖤐.ᐟ everyone just like…spoon feeding pip the answers along the way. why did they all fold under like zero pressure? it felt so anticlimactic and like she wasn’t actually figuring anything out for herself. it was honestly so disappointing because it felt like pip wasn’t even given the chance to be the character she was written as.

࣪𖤐.ᐟ ant for some reason just being some random dude lauren is obsessed with? i think that will take a significant amount of the bite and betrayal out of his later actions, which is kind of disappointing, and again — WHY change something like that?! seems more like an inconvenience to have to come up with a whole new plot line for him, as well as introductions.

࣪𖤐.ᐟ the woman that elliot ward kept hidden in his attic for five years KNOWING who she was, WANTING to escape. elliot may be a shit person, but the only reason he kept that girl for all those years is because he believed she was andie and SHE DID TOO. she was severely mentally ill and had taken who knows what kind of drugs. it goes against everything we know about his character to have him hold some random woman hostage in his attic for essentially no reason for half a decade. it makes no sense. so again, WHY CHANGE IT?!

࣪𖤐.ᐟ in general, the over dramatization of literally everything (except for the most important parts) for tv audiences :/ i’m honestly getting super tired so i’m struggling to think of how to explain this better BUT i will return come the morning sun and do my best.

anyways, if you made it this far — thank you for reading my ramblings, i wrote this so that my mother could enjoy watching the AGGGTM adaptation with me without me bugging out every 10 seconds about the inconsistencies LMFAO. hope you enjoyed.

My robot game!!

Scrapped was originally something I made for some art history kinda class (not the game history class, but we did look at games and other media in it. But was the same teacher as the game history. She’s a prick)

The final project was to make just. Anything based on one of the topics we discussed in class. So I decided to make a loose game concept based around general overconsumption, and the weird need in capitalism to constantly buy the newest products that normally lose their quality and break faster an faster.

So for the first concept sketches made, two versions of the same robot were made, the boxy lookin thing that’s got an assortment of mixed parts. Then the sleek round robot, with all the uniform parts you’d expect to see on every other version of its model. Think Wall-e and Eve The "box robots", B0N-1X // B0N-X1 [Bonix // Bonxi]

The idea was that the player would be offered two paths of either scrambling around for loose scrap they’d find in the environment or would get by breaking down the glunk bots (small npc bots), and trading the scrap in for cash in order to buy whichever upgrades needed when a part broke.

Or to take the path where the player can level up their skills and learn to just fix themselves when damaged, being able to level up through fixing up the same glunk bots that you could destroy for a quick coin.

(I ended up just making an essay for that history class, cause as I said the teacher was a prick and I just wanted a decent grade then making another game I actively enjoyed and worked hard on just to get another C on. Still bitter about that)

The only other character in that original group of sketches was Veldrin, who was just “the shopkeeper robot who teaches the player how to fix things” for the longest time. (Wanted to make big ol burly robot with the animated dad moustache) I also gave him a cat cause it’s kinda fun to have this big gruff ol guy and to give them the tinniest lil pet. As said, the cats name is Rob, and Veldri n named the shop after her (Robo n Robs Bits n Bobs). Hes honestly the character I’ve developed the most out of everyone.

that's most of the beginning stuff I made for this game. I've since developed more characters and story behind them. Gave Bonix a proper reason to their character, and why you're able to upgrade them as easily as you can as the player.

Largely because of how my classes were structured last year, a good chunk of recent development was focused on the environment of the game and more with world building. [most of my classes were environment illustration, this year is character design though, so we'll see what happens.]

took my time to reaspond to this, but it lined up with being posted for robot week! and I call that a win.

headcanon that as sophie ages, she gets more and more off-put by how she still looks twenty at some age past 40. the only wrinkles she has are smile lines and a barely-there crease between her eyebrows that never leaves. no gray hairs. it doesn’t feel like there’s any physical evidence of how much stress aged her too fast.

(maybe she dyes more grays into her hair to feel better about her reflection, the more time passes by. maybe, on bad days, she contours wrinkles into her skin with makeup. maybe the bad days get more frequent as she ages outside the human lifespan. maybe.)

i dont know how to explain it but i always feel as though my body is in a constant state of anxiety. i cant calm my heart, its always beating too fast and i can never get rid of that pit in my stomach, the millions of thoughts in my head but when im reading? when im reading and i can get lost in the story, it all goes away, i can finally focus and i can just imagine the world and the characters and feel the emotions of the book instead of my own worries. reading is so wonderful, its my safe place :)

Sometimes I look in the corner of a cartoon and/or comic and notice how cool the background art really is. So, I did an art style challenge with a character and background that included interior and plant life. And what better scene than Fitz in the preservatorium!

Flat vs lighting for this one. In this series they don't used many shadows were as in the movie they do, including rim lighting!

Exploring the different (digital) painting techniques for backgrounds was so interesting and I learned a lot! Textures, colors, shapes, and layout were all things I had to keep in mind. Background art is art, and gorgeous art at that. Give it a try!
