Yo, I switched to Firefox
I was able to carry over my data, passwords, bookmakers, history, all that shit
I'm still gonna use Gmail, and Google photos, cause Firefox don't got one of those yet
But I'm doing decent it seems
What was the addon for getting past paywall/sign up walls on sites?
And anyone else got any other add-ons to recommend? It'd be much appreciated

If you guys use the Adblocker Ultimate Firefox addon, the pop up only appears for a split second before disappearing. I was wondering why I didnt get the same pop up everyone else was getting and now I know 😭😭😭

i'm begging you guys to start pirating shit from streaming platforms. there are so many websites where you can stream that shit for free, here's a quick HOW TO:
1) Search for: watch TITLE OF WORK free online
Tumblr media
2) Scroll to the bottom of results. Click any of the "Complaint" links
Tumblr media
3) You will be taken to a long list of links that were removed for copyright infringement. Use the 'find' function to search for the name of the show/movie you were originally searching for. You will get something like this (specifics removed because if you love an illegal streaming site you don't post its url on social media)
Tumblr media
4) each of these links is to a website where you can stream shit for free. go to the individual websites and search for your show/movie. you might have to copy-paste a few before you find exactly what you're looking, but the whole process only takes a minute. the speed/quality is usually the same as on netflix/whatever, and they even have subtitles! (make sure to use an adblocker though, these sites are funded by annoying popups)
In conclusion, if you do this often enough you will start recognizing the most dependable websites, and you can just bookmark those instead. (note: this is completely separate from torrenting, which is also a beautiful thing but requires different software and a vpn)
you can also download the media in question (look for a "download" button built into the video window, or use a browser extension such as Video DownloadHelper.)

Get your add-ons on mobile NOW
Mozilla recently announced that, in a ground-shaking move, Firefox on Android would support virtually all add-ons. What a great christmas gift ! Firefox will be the 1st mobile browser to fully support modern add-ons ✨
But you said now you lowly liar :(
Yes ! In fact you don't have to wait at all !!! If you download Firefox Beta (119) or Firefox Nighyly (120), then you can enjoy your favourite extensions ! Just click on the add-ons menu, then Find More. Search for your favourite ones, and don't forget to filter by Everything (default to Recommended)
Tumblr media
Enjoy a vastly enhanced browsing experience on mobile on world's best browser !

You can use a custom CSS addon (i.e. User CSS for Chrome, CustomCSS Injector for Firefox) to make whatever pattern you want in the Youtube video progress bar. Very nifty for pride flags :3 (copy/paste in alt text)

Small note, it doesn't block the sites in the image display that you sometimes get in the "all" section of the results, but it works like a charm for the actual "images" tab.
Thank you!
Tumblr media
does anyone know if i can like block sites from appearing in my google images searches??? i keep getting those awful ai generated things with a hand coming out of a man's neck and just straight up not what i was looking for, because this was in a search for "curly hair in medieval paintings". it happens every time i search for anything vaguely art-reference-like and it's so fucking annoying and it clutters my search results so much. i don't wanna add specific commands to the query every time too, what i need is like a browser extension or something

People entering comic fandoms but not reading comics because they're too expensive is mildly baffling to me. Do you pay for a subscription service everytime a show youre interested in comes out? Do you buy every movie you watch?

not sure if anyone else is equally as obsessed with trying to get site layouts to look like their "old" versions as i am but does anyone possibly have a way to get tumblr to look "old?" like, with the lines on the side of posts for the reblogs and the little triangle on the side that makes it look like a speech bubble and stuff, because ive seen extremely recent screenshots that have them like that but ive had no luck in finding an extension to make it look like that. ive seen old posts which indicate that xkit used to have a feature that made it look like that, but it doesnt seem to have that feature anymore. if anyone knows of anything please lmk bc ive been trying to get all the websites i frequent to look old (i use firefox btw if that helps anything)

anonymous  asked:
what addons do you use for firefox? i've just downloaded it to switch from chrome (derogatory)
somecunttookmyurl  answered:
firefox (affectionate)
UBlock Origin obviously. out-the-box works just fine but has a bunch of extra privacy/tracking/spam filters you can enable
Decentraleyes protects you against tracking through “free” curated content delivery and works alongside UBlock (or any of the other common adblocking addons)
I Don’t Care About Cookies good for EU users where GDPR made it so every site ever in the universe asks you to accept cookies and privacy terms seventeen times a day. will just auto-accept for you. never see an annoying popup again! but only use in conjunction with…
Cookie Auto Delete does what it says on the tin. will automatically flush cookies, cache, and data when you close a tab. those cookies you just auto accepted? they’re gone now. whitelist any sites you wanna stay logged in on and let the rest fucking perish
Don’t Track Me Google removes that annoying link conversion when you copy google results. you know when it changes from “site.com” to “encrypted.google.com/randomnonsensefor200charactersblahblahblah”? yeah. this stops that happening. fuck off, google.
Don’t Accept image/webp blocks sites from using the most useless file extension known to mankind so you can save as .jpg or .gif as god intended. fuck webp. seriously. what even is that.
Bypass Paywalls Clean exactly what you think it is
HTTPS Everywhere automatically adds ecrypted security to any site that supports https (you can do this manually by adding the s yourself to any url but… who can be fuckin bothere amirite? this does it for you)
New XKit …duh
Google Search Filter allows you to remove domains from your searches forever. pinterest? gone. weheartit? nuked. also works on duckduckgo. never type “-pinterest” into a search again.
Simple Tab Groups allows you to group tabs together and shove them out of sight, which is nice if you’re researching something and don’t want 50 bajillion jstor tabs clogging up your normal browsing session

Rebloghing because we're seeing a mass influx of new users.
I’m seeing a sudden and concerning increase in the number of accounts here being hacked and deleted. Folks, y’all need to check out how secure your browser is, scan your computer for fuckery (Avira and Malwarebytes are your friend!), and remember to change your passwords more often than once a year.
My first account was hacked and deleted several years ago. I didn’t bother getting it restored and went on a nearly three year hiatus. After making a new account (this one) I made a point of changing my password at least ever four months and never shorter than 20 characters. Often random sentences from books and switching out letter for numbers and symbols. I use Firefox with several add-ons, and scan tf outta my computer DAILY because I’m paranoid (and with good reason).
My add-ons, for those interested. These were recommended by @hater-of-terfs
AdBlocker for Youtube
DuckDuckGo Privacy Essentials
Epilepsy Blocker (not recommended by them, but one I suggest for others who have seizure disorders)
Malwarebytes Browser Guard
New XKit (not recommended by them but instead by @new-xkit-extension)
Privacy Badger
Privacy Possum
Shinigami Eyes (recommended by a lot of people)
Track Me Not
uBlock Origin
WhatCampaign
YouTube Audio (because sometimes the videos are dangerous for me)
I also run my browser incognito, but @hater-of-terfs is better at explaining it than me.
You are responsible for your own security. Prevention is better than repairing damage (much like a vaccine is better than getting the disease and hoping for the best).
Folks are bored and fucking around because they can as entertainment, like bored pets seeking something to do. Don’t give them the chance to make you their next target.

ooohh my god this pisses me off so much i absolutely hate these sanctions towards m country like ok whatever they banned twitter insta facebook spotify and so on i dont really use them anyway but. all the software i need for uni. its also banned. and THIS is pissing me off
i cannot download/buy matlab, they dont give subscriptions to jetbrains products, like they HAVE my uni in the list of unis which they give student subscriptions to but they simply dont deal with my country anymore, now i need orca input library for tomorrow and i basically cannot donwload it bc i live in the wrong counry. even none of the vpns are working bc apparently theyre also banned. not even mentioning that i literally cannot pay for any of them bc they dont accept money from my counry
thank GOD they didnt ban microsoft site and visual studio is still accessible i literally have no idea what would i do without it
