she's singing in another room and my dog is asleep at my feet. my grandma asked me why i haven't found a man yet and i laughed. oh, you know. i like my house clean.

my girlfriend is also my man is also "my partner" if i'm in a professional setting. yesterday we went to a ren faire and a man mimed at me - you're together? and at my delighted nod, his baffled, you're gay? made me laugh. a woman with rainbow hair said i love the two of you together. you're both so beautiful it's absurd.

my dad introduced my partner as my "..... friend. or whatever" the other day. he knows we're dating. in the same way, i was never able to get my sister's husband to stop saying that's gay like it's 2008. he still uses the word fa***t, and my sister's defense of him has always been well, he's just kidding.

my lover and i dance to old music in a tiny kitchen. we judge new music together and take food critique very seriously. we watch love is blind before we fall asleep and agree that if they had a queer season, it would be bloody but also make for excellent tv. of fucking course queer people would know someone for only 2 weeks and agree to get married. what are you saying.

at a bar with friends, a man puts his hand on my wrist. got a boyfriend? and yes, i do have a boyfriend, she's amazing. i am texting her while i wander around a gas station named after geese. i am visiting a swing state for a wedding. in the candy aisle i overhear: she's actually like a lesbian it's disgusting. two teenage girls with packaged sandwiches in their hands, giggling. no literally, like. i'm not, like. okay with her being there while we're all, like, naked and changing.

my girlfriend and i tailgate, drink gin and cider out of cups. from the frat group beside us, a man corrects himself with one of his friends: bro, i mean, nonbinary entity, and it makes everyone around him laugh, myself included. he razzes his friend the same way i would have killed for at 19 years old - like nothing happened, he continues: you apply sunscreen like an alien. he does a little sassy (and fairly accurate) dance interpretation of the motion. his friend is laughing so hard they're crying.

i am lucky, i live in a safe neighborhood in a safe state. my masc passenger princess comes up from DC. i drive her for an hour to where all the leaves are a violent arrangement of color. we walk along the trails, letting autumn into our blood. in this part of the state, there's a lot of pickup trucks and trump signs. when we chastely kiss before getting into the car, i accidentally make eye contact with a woman holding her child's wrist. she looks disgusted. she looks fucking pissed.

two hours later my girl and i are eating dinner on a patio, soaking in the last warmth of new england sun before the chill of winter sets in. we are giggling and trying to talk through plastic vampire teeth. at another table, i see a young woman sit up straighter. i watch her watch us. she blushes and takes her partner's hand from across the table. shy, like the taste of evening has just become something deeper.

it's worth it for this moment, i think. my lover is still humming the same song she's been singing for four days straight and i don't want to kill her for it. her guitar is beside my bed. her toothbrush is in my bathroom. in a few moments i will make us lunch. we are lucky enough to have found each other. it is lucky enough to be in love.

Dylan Scott - Livin' My Best Life (Still)

So today on the MSR (Midnight Star Review), I would like to talk about the latest album release from Country Music Singer Dylan Scott. The new CD is titled "Livin' my best life" was released on Friday August 5th, 2022 and the deluxe edition with the title "Still" added was released on March 29th, 2024. There are 26 tracks on the new 2 disc CD. But as usual, we will talk a little bit about the artist before we dive into his new project.

Dylan Scott has scored 4 number ones on my weekly list MSR (Midnight Star Report) which combines both CMT (Country Music Television), the Billboard Country Music Airplay Charts, & even myself. Some of Dylan's biggest hits include songs like "My girl", "Hooked", & "Crazy over me". But he is still new to us, and he does have 16 tracks on this new album. Let's talk about some of the tracks that stuck out in my opinion from the new project next.

His current singles "New truck" has already gone number one along with another song from the album "Nobody". Other songs that you should listen to include "Can't have mine (Find you a girl)" which has also gone number one, "Static", & "Boy I was back then". The title track is also one to listen to "Livin' my best life", "Tough", & "Good times go by too fast". The stand track in my opinion is "In our blood" which features Jimmie Allen, & another single he released a little bit was "Nothing to do town".

But now since there is 2 discs on this album. Other highlights of the album also include "This town's been too good to us", "What he'll never have" which is a standout in my opinion, & "Boys back home" with Dylan Marlowe. "What I'd want mine to say", "Heartbeat of America" which is another standout track, and now about some of disc 2 highlights. "Lay down with you", "Killin' some time", which is another standout track, & "Hell out of me". And there is also 2 remix version of 2 tracks from this project. That's a wrap for the track list. And on the MSR (Midnight Star Report), I would give this album a 5 out of 5 stars. There is a lot of songs for this project which means there would probably be something on this album for anyone. And Dylan co wrote 13 out of the 26 tracks. And he also had help from some of our favorite names in Country Music. Those include Hardy (Michael Hardy), Morgan Wallen, Brian Kelley, Tyler Hubbard of FGL (Florida Georgia Line), Thomas Rhett, & Mitchell Tenpenny. Thanks for taking the time to read this review. TVL teaser is hilarious to me. I think everyone expected rockstar Lestat to come out full glam looking the best he’s ever looked, but that man is having the vampire equivalent of a mid life crisis. what's so clever about Clara Bow is that when she references her own name at the end, she's not talking about the present but the future, quoting the inevitable way people are going to one day talk about her, imagining it will only be in regards to the woma(e)n who surpass her. because there will be someone who surpasses her, eventually. that's the cycle of fame, isn't it? we're simultaneously captivated by the alluring trick of the past while looking for the next big thing. we compare current stars to the lights that shined before them, "you look like taylor swift." but we're also constantly waiting for someone new and greater to take the crown and captivate us anew, "you've got edge she never did." And half the song is about acknowledging that being revered is hell on earth for the people who are in it, because you're always trapped between what came before and what will come after. you're only safe insofar as you remain shiny. But the real beauty of the song is that it never succumbs to this dichotomy, but embraces it. It's Taylor acknowledging she wouldn't be who she is were it not for the women who came before her, who shared the same dreams, and recognizing her place in the chain of the women who will come after. The future's bright, dazzling.

thinking about the fact that the only place in the base game you could find the specific white flower with 5 petals in Shaman Village is Malenia boss arena… aka the Haligtree roots.

(that flower also looks like jasmine, which is what “Marika” means in Japanese - 茉莉花)

you can find the same 5-petal flower in Shadow Keep architecture too (Messmer splattering the flower bearing his Mother’s name and her golden ring symbol everywhere in his castle 😭 I bet it’s him who told Malenia about Marika being named after a flower)

Also the lily in the boss arena is Calla lily, not the one Miquella or Trina like, so I always assume it’s Malenia’s favourite, and if she’s growing them along with jasmine…

Such a small environmental design detail, but it’s so in line with my theory that the Marika’s Soreseal found in the Haligtree was meant to help seal away Malenia’s rot (like the eye Messmer got), it just didn’t work.

yet Malenia kept it always, and grew the flowers her mother was named after in her new home. something to remember her by…

Extra edit: Trina was growing jasmine along with her purple lilies as well.

There's something tragic about Miquella, on his path to abandon everything that made him Marika's child, left the flower bearing his Mother's name - the flower he probably planted together with his sister at the Haligtree roots - with his discarded love.
