The idea of Dale not feeding himself for possibly days on end is terrifying when you consider that might result in him not feeding the actual newborn baby he's in charge of for similar amounts of time.

Dale is absolutely not in charge of feeding Dev. Devs primary caretakers have been au-pairs.

Dales eating disorder is just about the only trauma he's made sure Not to pass on. Even if he denies it he is aware that his eating habits are fucked, he just cant bring himself to do anything about it. If there's one thing Dale always makes sure of its that Dev at least has access to food.

#Dales problem is that he finds the act of eating straight up revolting. He hates it. everything he tastes reminds him of the basement #He lives off of like the worlds blandest granola bars. If he didnt have the Au-pairs force feeding him snacks he would be dead I think #The thing about Dale to me is that he genuinely wants to make sure Dev has a better childhood than he did #Unfortunately 'not trapped in a lemon basement for 7 years' is an extremely low bar #The other problem is that Dale is straight up not good at empathy.#He knows that hes a bad father.that he cant love his son properly. So his solution to that is being as uninvolved with Devs life as possibl #He genuinely thinks its best for dev to be raised by robots #He was separated from his own dad for so long. And then his dad was so distant that-#-I genuinely dont think he realizes how important a parent love is supposed to be for a kid

Anytime I replay DAI and I get to that first conversation with Vivienne back at Haven, I take a long inhale Everytime she asks what I think about doing with the mages.

Like I know my Inky has not thought about this too much. She just knows her clan, but I think about it constantly and no answer I am offered is good enough to assuage my long rant that I yell at the computer for like 8 straight minutes before I choose the Mages Should Be Free line and get the inevitable Vivienne Greatly Disapproves

I love Vivienne a lot, I do, even with the differing political views, but Jesus Christ girlie pop never ask me that question again because I will go off Every Single Time

something I’ll never understand is when people say they prefer Toki’s voice in season 1 like no that could never be me…I love his high-pitched tone, the comical cadence of his speech…I love him getting progressively becoming more and more incomprehensible and stupid-sounding…s2 and onwards Toki you will always be peak to me

#rambling #I know it’s a shared opinion too (preferring s1 toki)#which often conflates with preferring s1 Toki’s personality overall #and I’m just????#I don’t mean to be rude but that’s like #falling in love with a pizza because you love the crust #what about like….EVERYTHING ELSE….#I think there’s a conversation to be had wrt flanderization but I think the child regressing was a pretty good solution for it #i think the combination of toki being further traumatized and growing more and more childish is absolutely a thing in show #but I also think that by s1 they were still working out the characters’ kinks and such #in toki’s case specifically I feel like they were figuring him out which is why he’s so different from later seasons #that said he’s def a very incomplete version to me #so I can’t really understand finding that itineration best #also people whine about aotd toki a lot but tbf him acting like a child was during the church scene and not really after #I think it gets blown out of proportion cuz…well…Toki did not say a lot during aotd overall #and neither did skwis #but yea idk mtl showcases the comedic moments of the cast #I don’t think it’s impossible for them to display maturity when required (as demonstrated by aotd)#anyway ily toki i wouldn’t change you toki #my beloved Norwegian dog

I haven't been back for long but two things are really weird to me right now:

I can't ever find the source of reblogs where before you could see it. I find it really weird, it's like I never know who's talking. Sometimes I can't even find source of posts without looking for it as well.

Lack of interactions bother me. You used to be able to reblog replies or to have at least more public discussions and now it seems impossible, and XKit is not helping at all. If people leave replies on the post itself and you can't have a simple way to reblog, that means you have to go back to a post to follow the conversation along, which most people would never do. You do it if you're tagged, which means one to one conversations are encouraged but not fandom wide discussions

So it's harder to see who's talking and it's harder to talk.

Maybe most of you are on Discord and prefer it there because of this? IDK.

Btw, I usually post messages unless I'm asked not to but if there's some new etiquette and I shouldn't, tell me. I'm very confused by this new Tumblr.

#slowly coming to accept the fact that I will be stuck in this job for a while yet #I can't find another job. I've tried.#and certainly not one that pays as well while remaining flexible and not requiring me to become accountant on top of regular admin #(I hate accounting)#this job is miserable but in such a lowkey way #it's stressful but I know how to deal with it #and despite grim predictions I don't see it going under rapidly #(if it does fold I'm positive there will be some warning given the nature of the services we provide)#the bad news is my work bestie is really pushing to get out and it will be lonely without her #my goal right now is to buckle down and tackle my debt for the next six months at least #once I take care of paying off my furnace and a few other small debts I will be able to 1) set aside more for savings #and 2) take a job with lower pay if necessary #woe woe woe etc #(I know one solution would be to be brave and get a job with some responsibilities I'm not comfortable with. I can learn. I can adapt.)#(I just don't want to lol)#(my secondary goal next year outside of surviving is to pick up some extra skills)#(beef up my resume in little useful ways)#(that or have someone recognize my literary genius and agree to publish something I've written for tons of money)#(obviously that ambition is untenable at best)
