Australia Revised Financial Requirements for International Students
Australia, known for its high-quality education and diverse cultural experiences, is a sought-after destination for international students. However, to ensure that students can comfortably manage their expenses while pursuing their studies, the Australian government periodically updates its financial requirements. In this article, we will discuss the latest changes to the financial requirements for international students seeking to study in Australia, effective from October 1, 2023.
Financial Requirement for Student Visas
Students must have to student visa of Australia to study in Australia. One of the essential criteria for obtaining this visa is demonstrating that you have enough financial resources to cover your travel, tuition fees, and living expenses during your stay. These financial eligibility criteria ensure that students do not face financial hardship while pursuing their education in Australia.
The Need for Change
The financial eligibility criteria for student visas had remained unchanged since 2019. This was primarily due to the challenges posed by the global COVID-19 pandemic, which created uncertainties in international travel and financial planning. Before 2019, these criteria used to be adjusted annually to account for the changing economic landscape. However, recognizing the need to adapt to the evolving cost of living, the Australian government has decided to update these requirements.
New Financial Requirement
Starting from October 1, 2023, international students applying for a student visa in Australia must demonstrate that they have a minimum of AU$24,505 in savings. This money is intended to cover living expenses for a year. It's important to note that this amount represents the bare minimum required by the visa, and actual living costs in different parts of Australia may exceed this threshold.
Changes for Applicants with Family Members
If you plan to bring your spouse or other family members with you while studying in Australia, there are specific financial requirements applicable to them as well. If your student visa application is submitted on or after October 1, 2023, you will need to meet these new financial criteria for your family members. However, if you apply before this date, the new financial conditions will not apply to you.
Preparing for Your Studies
Before embarking on your educational journey to Australia, it's crucial to plan your living expenses carefully. Being well-informed about the average living costs in Australia is essential for effective preparation. To help with this, you can utilize the Study Australia Cost of Living Calculator, which is available on the official Study Australia website. This tool will assist you in estimating your day-to-day expenses in various regions of the country, ensuring that you are financially prepared for your time as an international student in Australia.
Conclusion
Australia's commitment to providing a world-class education to international students remains unwavering. To ensure that students can focus on their studies without financial worries, the government has updated the financial eligibility criteria for student visas, effective from October 1, 2023. By understanding and meeting these requirements, as well as accurately estimating living expenses, international students can enjoy a fulfilling and financially secure educational experience in Australia.

Fic where after realizing his feeling charles looks up edwardian courting tactics because he CANNOT chance edwin misunderstanding him after rejecting him the first time. he does his research and after countless books and internet dives, he's reached a solution: he will propose marriage
#vio.txt#yes there were many fun rules of social interaction that have been romanticized by historial dramas#but this is far funnier#and usually thats how a courtship began with upper class couples since much of the time marriage and courtship were a financial ritual#but i think charles would see this and go. my bestie is emotionally repressed. he is edwardian.#conclusion: all edwardians are emotionally repressed and require direct action. bit weird but ill do it for him <3#dead boy detectives#dead boy detective agency#dbda#payneland#edwin payne#charles rowland#'two blokes can get married nowadays. i can ask for your hand in marriage properly n all isnt that brill'

idk how to put this more smartly but theres a weird trend among online leftists who have circled right back around to this quasi-religious hatred of all material need and its just. sorry but needing money to stay alive isn't... greed. you're not selling out by doing an ad read esp if it's something you're doing as a job. even if the job is artistic in nature
anticapitalism is the main tenet here for sure but at the same time it helps to.., idk. not act like we spiritually need to start forfeiting all mortal goods bc it's the one path towards nirvana or something. every once in a while i notice people reinventing asceticism in the name of praxis and it's very Sigma Grindset but with a lefty hat
#rambles#this is a months old tweet thread im reposting here bc i keep thinking abt it#i reread the maupin callout last night and he was a fucking weirdo about this exact thing too: ''socialism requires material suffering''#which he then used as an excuse to financially abuse his cult members

Does a podcast ever release a take you disagree with so strongly it makes you question everything you heard on it up to that point
#this is so niche and only interesting to other people who spend 10 hours a day listening to podcasts so i'm putting it in the tags#but s1ep3 of invisibilia about the blind guy who learned to echolocate so well he could ride a bike was fucking wild#the take was like. okay okay backing up a bit we all agree disability is socially constructed in some ways right?#ie people treat blind people in certain ways that reinforce an inability to function in society get jobs etc#they have certain expectations of people who are blind that can be limiting. right. so we all agree on that#but that was not the end of the take! the take was that because disability is socially constructed the solution is#to expect the same level of independence from blind people as you do from seeing people#and that also was not the end of the take because the way this man tried to accomplish that was forcing blind children to climb trees#this guy had achieved a high level of independence but in the process of learning to echolocate had knocked out multiple teeth#he was like 'the biggest barrier to blind people's ability to function in society is their parents' love for them'#because parents prevent blind children from exploring getting close to roads etc#and anyway i think that although parents may infantilize blind children more than necessary there is a strong financial incentive to#make sure they do not get hit by a car or break a bone#the solution of just getting blind people to act exactly like seeing people also seems odd#what's wrong with requiring help from others? why have we decided independence is the only way to function in society?#should all disabled people just be willing to injure themselves in order to get as close as possible to independence#in order to hold down a job which we have decided is the only way to earn the right to live#is there only one correct way to live a life?#it truly baffled me. i was sorting that mail going 👀👀🤔#anyway. this has been your podcast take of the day

Everyday I see looms for sale on facebook marketplace and everyday I yearn so so deeply, but I have no weaving experience beyond some very basic tablet bracelet kids stuff. Is there a good "beginners" loom that I might look out for if one pops up in my area?
a rigid heddle loom is a wonderful introduction to weaving that will allow you to get familiar with the basics of setting up a loom, woven structure, finishing, etc. while being more affordable than a multishaft table or floor loom as well as involving less moving parts. it depends on where you live, but generally the most common rigid heddle loom you'll find on secondhand sites is by ashford, a company from nz/aotearoa. any manufacturer is fine, just make sure the listing comes with all parts, ie. the heddle, warping peg, shuttles, etc. there are tons of free resources online from the manufacturers sites as well as youtube tutorials and books that can teach you every step of the process of using a rigid heddle loom
#you could use a rigid heddle loom your whole life and still have things to make with it#but the knowledge gained via working with one is highly transferable to other kinds of weaving#and imo a great loom to learn if you enjoy the weaving process and build confidence with the craft#it requires less of a financial commitment and less of a learning curve than a multishaft loom

We deeply regret to announce that due to GPSR, we can no longer offer sales to the EU for the foreseeable future.
While our silicone is certified skin safe and our pigments are EU (and US) cosmetics approved, we are too small of an operation to afford official compliance testing or the retaining of an EU-based representative as required by GPSR. It is also unsafe for us to post our physical address online, as the TWH workshop is located on our personal property.
Until such time that we can figure out how to work within the new regulations, we have made the difficult decision to suspend sales to the EU. We are so sorry to our friends and fans in these affected countries.
As of today, you should no longer be able to check out from our website from any EU country. If any orders do go through, we will have to cancel them.
Thank you for your understanding.
#we hope it's not forever#safety is our number one priority and we are confident we would meet or exceed requirements#but the financial and regulatory burden is too much for our 1.5 person operation#we'll keep looking into things#fantasy toys#spicy silicone#monster fucker#silicone toys#indietc#adulttoys#dongblr#thewickedhunt

I just had to share this email I got so all y'all can appreciate the absolute state of welfare services in Australia with me:
The NILs Loan Scheme is a government funded, no interest loan scheme for people on low incomes, but this leaves me wondering exactly who tf can qualify for their loans. Because it seems like if you have any symptoms of poverty it's a no.
I applied because I need the clutch replaced in my van, which I live in. It's lucky that I actually CAN afford the cost myself (due to living in a van & not participating in Australia's increasingly ridiculous housing market). I thankfully can afford such an expense these days & was just looking for a responsible financial buffer, just in case. But if this had happened to me a few years ago when I first became homeless and was far less financially stable, then my next living situation wouldn't be "affordable housing" it would be a fucking tent.
Anyway, the backwards ass state of a GOVERNMENT FUNDED welfare scheme refusing to assist those who need welfare the most because they don't want to encourage homelessness or whatever the dumb fuck? Just really rustled my jimmies tbh. Just screams "yet another govt welfare scheme that's actually just about handing out money to fake charities & not helping the poor". Good Shephard just got on the "do not donate to these grifters" list along with the Salvos😒
#I got a root canal & a heap of skin cancer to pay for on top of this clutch replacement right#& I got it#but there's going to be $100 left in my bank account with this all said & done#& I could use ZIP or AfterPay or whatever if need be#but I figured a no-interest no-fee no-nothing loan would be the gold standard of responsible financial decision-making#& lol turns out the eligibility requirements for a NILs loan are HIGHER than a Buy Now Pay Later (w exorbitant fees) type of loan#how tf can you call that a loan scheme for people on low incomes?#when you gotta be at least middle class to qualify?#the fucking state of Australian welfare agencies istg#& I ain't even shocked atp because this is the response I've always gotten from welfare agencies#they always have some (often very stupid) excuse as to why they can't do what they say they do#I hear so often “oh there's plenty of support for the poor & homeless they just choose to be that way”#but this is the support just fyi#this is why poverty & homelessness still exist in Australia#bc all the agencies & organisations & departments & corporations that are “on the job” are only on the job of securing their own pay checks#with as little expenditure on the poor as they can get away with#auspol#poverty

We talk a lot about tumblr politics but reddit politics is also fascinating. On the front page of the website there's regularly posts from r/antiwork from 14 year olds who think their mom asking them to do the dishes is bourgeois oppression, and posts from r/fluentinfinance from 14 year olds who wonder why poor people are too lazy to ask their dad for a better job
#ramblings#nonsims#r/fluentinfinance is unequivocally the worse one because it's populated by people who think that you can budget your way out of poverty#Like girlie no this economic system requires there's an underclass#These are systemic issues that cannot be solved by individual good spending habits#If everyone in the lower classes just magically became a financial genius there'd still be an underclass#at least antiwork has some understanding of systemic issues even if simplistic
