Fixing newsletter readability on Inoreader
A quick fix to the Money Stuff newsletter readability on Inoreader through custom CSS.
I have been using Inoreader as my main feed reader for quite a while now after having tried feedly for a few years. I even upgraded to their Premium plan for the power user and additional newsletter limits. I subscribe to a few newsletters as it is easier to get all the content in one place. There had been one rendering issue that I had been facing with Matt Levine’s Money Stuff newsletter ever…

FreshRSS - A Feed Reader of My Own
FreshRSS – A Feed Reader of My Own
I was exploring ways to add an RSS feedreader to my WordPress site and installed PressForward. I was looking for a replacement for my Inoreader subscription. PressForward is a great tool, but a little more than I needed. I could see the benefits for organizations with multiple people that curate, comment on, and publish articles. After exploring more, I found FreshRSS – “A free, self-hostable…

Vox x Fem!Reader
Tumblr media
=_MINORS DNI_=
Request: Hey! I was wondering if you could do a Vox x feedreader, where he’s in his room with all those TVs, doing his broadcast or something? And the reader comes in and gives him a BJ (smut pls) I changed some things. I hope it's okay. Enjoy you, sinners. ;)
When you were alive, you weren't particularly religious; that's not to say you didn't believe in the concept of heaven or hell, just that you didn't care where you ended up. Your family was religious and cared more about scaring the word of the lord into you than your personal beliefs. In your head, you assumed that it was your anti-religious beliefs that would earn you a one-way ticket to hell. You didn't expect the reason to actually be the fact that you hacked yourself into a secret government database and ended up in prison, only to die in a prison riot that you played a part in. You become a number one target when you can hack the guard's security cameras.
Long story short, you died and woke up in hell. Then you hacked your way into working for one of the most powerful Overlords in hell, specifically by glitching out every one of his broadcasts until he noticed you.
Vox was going to kill you when he found out you were the one fucking up his tech, but you managed to convince him that combining your skills would serve him much better than slaughtering you and wasting your talent. He put your skills to good use; Vox could finally take breaks from constantly patrolling the cameras around Pentagram City and focus much more on improving his already well-renowned tech. It took a lot of sucking up and managing to break into some of whatever radio shops that were left in the city and breaking all the old-timey tech that things finally shifted between your relationship with the Overlord. Destroying those radios caused you to immediately jump on the Radio Demon's shit list, which as a normal Sinner was not ideal.
However, it jumped you up immensely on Vox's Employee of the Month board. In fact, you were almost sure you were his favorite employee ever.
He finally trusted you enough to show you the central hub where he ran his broadcasts, and you moved from ordinary everyday Sinner under contract to Vox's right-hand woman...who was...still under contract...semantics.
From that moment on, you were constantly by his side throughout every single one of his broadcasts. While Velvette might be the backbone of the Vees, you were Vox's hype woman, keeping him out of trouble while encouraging his most chaotic ideas. That's how the two of you remained for a consistent seven years until the Radio Demon hijacked Vox's broadcasts, showing all of Hell he's made his triumphant return.
"I can't fucking believe this, I've spent years building my empire, YEARS, and he thinks he can just take it from me like that? Does he even know who I am?" You watched your boss prepare for his late-night broadcast session, flipping switches and plugging wires into his head while ranting about that deer-faced fuck
"He's not worth it, Sir," You speak softly and notice his shoulders relax at your tender tone. "You've been running Pentagram City for years. At this point, your viewers aren't just going to turn you away for a guy who sounds like he swallowed a microphone instead of a dick." Vox snorted with delighted laughter as he sat down in his studio chair. His claws drumming on his metal table pinging around the studio, you stepped closer and noticed he was still trailing Aslastor's every movement on camera. "May I speak freely?"
He thought briefly before turning his screen to face you, "Well, spit it out then."
"Your 'hatred' for Alastor is boarding on obsessive; it's creepy and- don't give me that look." You huffed, crossing your arms, "You permitted me. Plus, you haven't even heard my suggestion yet."
"And why exactly would I let you suggest anything after your attitude?"
"It'll help you relax," your hands spread across his shoulder pads down his chest, and you could hear his processors running a little louder in embarrassment. "I have lived to serve you since the day you hired me. Let me help you." You purred softly next to his screen, nuzzling against the cool metal; you saw how his claws dug into the table before him, creating claw marks.
"I suppose if you're offering." He leaned back in his chair, wires still connected to the back of his screen; you hummed, moving in front of him. Subtly, very subtly, you pressed the start broadcast button with your fingers. He watched with spiraling eyes as you kissed the side of his screen before kneeling between his legs. You saw sparks of embarrassment erupt from his screen, "wait, what relaxation are we talking about here- fuck!" He cursed, voice glitching in a way he usually used to command attention from his viewers and Val. Your hands gently trailed over his belt buckle as you leaned against his thigh,
"Not yet," You teased softly, "Maybe if you're good." You whisper with a wink, kissing his inner thigh, "Don't you wanna relax?"
"Yes." He commanded you hurriedly before composing himself, "Be a good girl for me, baby. Help me relax."
"Yes, sir." You hummed, unbuckling his belt, and with a click of his metal clasp, his belt was pulled from his pants. You felt cold claws trace your cheek as you looked back up at him through your extended lashes. His screen was glowing a mesmerizing purple hue; he looked briefly awkward,
"Vox, say my name."
"Yes, Vox." You licked your lip, rubbing your thighs together; your fingers pulled and tugged at his pants in a way of asking permission. He gave a single head nod as his slacks were pulled down to his ankles. You heard him suck in through his teeth as you landed forward towards his boxers, admiring the significant hardness in his pants. "Look at you; you're so big already..." You felt drool pooling in your mouth, and he made another strangled electronic sound. "I can't wait to feel you in my mouth." He seemed to gather some confidence back as he gripped your hair, causing you to whine,
"If you're so eager. Then suck." His eyes flashed a plethora of pretty colors, and you felt your willpower drop, hypnosis, your heart skipped a beat as your underwear flooded with your slick. He grinned wickedly as your mouth opened wide, tongue lolling out of your mouth as you took him out of his underwear. His dick was unlike anything you've ever seen. It was long and curved, sticking straight into the air, showing his eagerness for your mouth; blue and red wire-like veins seemed to pulse with need. You leaned forward, nipping gently at his now bare thighs as he hissed in through his teeth before swallowing his length in your mouth. Vox groaned, a static sound; as soon as your hot mouth swallowed him, sparks from the monitors singed your skin. You smiled, knowing that his sounds and your actions were being broadcast for all of hell to see and hear, and he was none the wiser.
You felt his claws dig into your hair, pulling you forward, forcing you to take him deeper down your throat. You groaned around him and began to suck as deep as you could take him down your throat. "Fuck baby, fuck." He hissed as you looked up at him through half-lidded lashes, opening your mouth wider and running your tongue on the wire veins underneath his dick. He shuddered and choked back a moan as you pulled back. You began to kitten lick along the sensitive tip, swallowing the blue precum that was forming at the slit. He shuddered, the screen glitching a few times as it flashed different frames and colors. "Don't stop now; you're just getting better." He grinned crookedly, petting your hair like a pet; you gave him a look. He snickered, urging you forward back onto his dick,
"I'm going to make you cum so hard, your blue screen." You purred, licking your lips, gathering spit in your mouth before taking him as deep as your throat would allow. He was heavy in your mouth and throat, filling it even though he wasn't thick. His tip hit the back of your throat as you choked around him. He moaned heatedly, eyes squeezing shut as he jolted as you suctioned your lips around him. He was close, and you could tell his hips began to twitch as he attempted to fuck your throat. You took that as a sign to place your hand on his balls, squeezing them and caressing them through your hands; you were rewarded with an even louder moan and a shout of your name. "That's it, baby, I'm so close, harder. fuck you're such a good girl." That seemed to do it as you moaned around his cock, the vibrations sending shockwaves through him as he shot his load down your throat, which you swallowed eagerly.
He tasted like you swallowed a packet of blue raspberry pop rocks.
You pulled off of him, licking your lips, and noticed his entire body was slack, face completely blue, sparks shooting out the back of his head. You giggled, turning to the screens and seeing yourself on camera; you hummed, hiking up your skirt and giving a little bow to the audience before ending the broadcast. You and Vox's phones were blaring with messages nonstop; you picked up Vox's while he was rebooting. You opened it quickly, remembering his passcode from when he told you to monitor Val's activities with the tracker he placed on the Moth. There were notifications from social media and Vox tech itself, which you promptly swiped away so Vox couldn't see them immediately when he rebooted. About a hundred texts from Velvette and Valentino in the Vees shared group chat.
Velvette was screaming about all the social media images she'd have to wipe to protect Vox's image and how much of an idiot he was for not double-checking that he wasn't on air. While Val was giving a rating while sending a play-by-play and ranking your technique, begging Vox to let him use you in his next shoot. You giggled, leaning down to snap a picture of you with a still rebooting Vox and sending it to the other Vees before throwing the phone away. If things go well, he'll fuck you on air next; worst case scenario, you'll double die, known as one of the best dick suckers in hell, probably only second to Angeldust.

Howdy, how did you like set up your rss feed thingie? all cool if you don’t reply just curious, i’ll search it up later but your list looked really organised
hii i use feedbro for this but i'm p sure other feedreaders are about the same !!
when you click the extension icon on your browser you can open the feed reader from there and see this orange button on the upper right corner on the screen and it should say add a new feed when you hover over it
Tumblr media
clicking that brings up this menu where you can add the rss feeds of whatever you want. ao3, webtoons, and mangago all have their own rss feeds but for mangadex i use this generator. just add the feed url, click load, change the title to whatever you want and then save it! i don't really touch anything else beyond that so i wouldn't know anything about those lol
Tumblr media
to organize your feeds you can add folders with this button and from the sidebar just click and drag your feeds around and into folders just like that ^^ i alphabetize mine but that's just me lol
Tumblr media
then from there you can see stuff update :>
Tumblr media
hope that helps!

feedreader.com, I appreciate the bare-bones UI but it's had issues with several comic feeds that I know of and possibly more I'm missing. In the case of at least one of them (Aurora), I know for certain that the feed works for nearly everyone else, so it seems to be an issue on my end.
oh hi feedreader thank you for giving me the last six months of false knees comics today I definitely didn't need to see any of those at any point in the last six months

Last Monday of the Week 2024-11-25
Getting Colder
Listening: I have been listening to a lot of Perennial for some reason.
Extremely yelling music. I like it when a musician sounds like they're on the verge of breaking out in tears which happens sometimes with Perennial.
Reading: Catching up on my enormous RSS backlog, which includes a very interesting aggregated feed run by Blackle Mori, Sortition. This is a website where, if you produce an RSS feed somewhere, you can add it, and at random your recent posts will be put into One Big Feed that anyone can subscribe to. It's a nice way to get a broad mix of people Doing Real Blogging On The Web into your feedreader.
I know a lot of the people in here from other places, fediverse, tumblr, twitter, IRC, even a few Weaguers, and it's a nice vertical slice of a particular corner of the blogosphere. Lots of furries.
Watching: Watched What We Do In The Shadows for the first time. Pointing at the screen going "I know that gif!"
It's a great comedy and it strikes me that comedy movies do seem to have quietly died, maybe because they now put a little comedy in all the mainstream movies? Unclear.
Playing: World of Goo 2 which I continue to do a little at a time. It's a really cute game. It feels floppier than I remember, but that might just be because it launches in at a much higher base difficulty than the original game, I think? It certainly feels that way, the efficient solutions feel much more marginal here, and they're challenging you with much taller, much more awkward structures much earlier in the game.
Also some Forza 5 which is because the Track Day event is on and I wanted some of the porsches. This week's Trial is ruinous, because it's a bunch of really technical twisty circuits with the "Super GT" class of vehicles, which are all big long high speed rear-wheel drive coupes, and if you try to mod your way out of this you tend to drop your top speed too much without gaining enough handling to make up for it. It doesn't help that with less-skilled team drivers they're very likely to cause terrible pileups in corners.
Making: Spent a while printing and pricing out upgrades for my printer and came to the conclusion that a much better refurb printer would cost less, and also that because of the absurd deal I got on my printer literally just the motors are worth more than upgrading it.
I am gradually getting Pissed Off at my big PC speakers which are really annoying and boomy and too loud and I fell down the rabbit hole of the Speaker Builder types and it's unfortunately exactly my shit. I love obsessing over frequency dynamics. There are some really weird little speaker drivers out there in the world and 3D printing allows you to fabricate incredibly complicated enclosures for them, so I am doing the legwork of figuring out how to model some of these.
Tools and Equipment: OpenSUSE AutoYasT is a system for automatically setting up and even changing the configuration of existing OpenSUSE and SLE systems. I'm doing a bunch of orchestration stuff at work and I needed a way to quickly set up a bunch of servers without doing it manually, and this is a handy way to approach it. You can even execute ERB templating rules within the rules file to do specific-to-device config.
You can deliver the instructions in a lot of ways, but I just patched them into the install CD with mksusecd. I'll talk about Distrobox next week.

Ich nutze also weiterhin keinen RSS Feedreader ;)

Agreeing with a lot of this, but fair warning:
It's generally better to minimise the number of addons you have. This reduces your attack surface.
Some of these addons can be replicated by others.
ClearURLs can be replicated in uBlock Origin using the Actually Legitimate URL Shortener Tool filter and the AdGuard Tracking Protection filter.
I used to use NoScript back in the day, but too many sites break under it. I've heard from power uBO users that dynamic filters in uBO replicate most (although not all of) NoScripts functionality.
The creator of uBO is pretty opposed to using overlapping blockers like Privacy Badger. I uninstalled it awhile ago.
Firefox now has built-in, local translation, rather than relying of Google.
The impression I have is that Decentraleyes has been functionally replaced by Firefox's native total cookie protection.
I'm pretty sure that Firefox has an automated text-to-speech thing, because I keep getting a message that I don't have the correct library installed for it to work. But for that reason, I have no idea whether it actually works lol.
For paywalls on NYTimes, I just use the Web Archives addon. Most of the time, Archive.org has it and if not Archive.is will. It's a few extra clicks, but reduces my addon count.
People love Bitwarden, but I just use KeePassXC. There's also an extension for Firefox, although I never got around to setting it up. I'm not on enough computers for it to matter.
I would suggest just using separate programs rather than extensions:
Rather than reading an ePub in your browser, read it in foliate. Same with PDFs honestly. I might open them to glance in my browser, but I'm reading them on Zotero.
For RSS feeds, I just Livemarks to make finding the feeds easy, but I'll ingest them somewhere else. Although honestly separate feedreading apps are pretty shit these days and I'm inching closer and closer to getting inoreader.
I love DarkReader. Strong recommend.
Since I'm a piss poor coder, I've never gotten into userscripts, but if that's you're jam, go for them.
I'd suggest seeing what addons PrivacyGuides recommends and looking through the recommended addons on Mozilla's website.
So You've Finally Switched to Firefox: a Brief Guide to a Some Very Useful Add-Ons.
This post is inspired by two things, the first being the announcement by Google that the long delayed Manifest V3 which will kill robust adblocking will finally roll out in June 2024, and the second, a post written by @sexhaver in response to a question as to what adblockers and extensions they use. It's a very good post with some A+ information, worth checking out.
I love Firefox, I love the degree of customization it offers me as a user. I love how it just works. I love the built in security features like DNS over HTTPS, and I love just how many excellent add-ons are available. It is a better browser than Chrome in every respect, and of the many Chromium based browsers out there, only Vivaldi comes close.
There are probably many people out there who are considering switching over to Firefox but are maybe putting it off because they've got Chrome set up the way they like it with the extensions they want, and doing all that again for Firefox seems like a chore. The Firefox Add-on directory is less expansive than the Chrome Web Store (which in recent years has become overrun with garbage extensions that range from useless to active malware), but there is still a lot of stuff to sift through. That's where this short guide comes in.
I'm presently running 33 add-ons for Firefox and have a number of others installed but disabled. I've used many others. These are my picks, the ones that I consider essential, useful, or in some cases just fun.
Adblocking/Privacy/Security:
uBlock Origin: The single best adblocker available. If you're a power user there are custom lists and scripts you can find to augment it.
Privacy Badger: Not strictly necessary if you're also running uBlock, but it does catch a few trackers uBlock doesn't and replaces potentially useful trackers like comment boxes with click-to-activate placeholders.
Decentraleyes: A supplementary tool meant to run alongside uBlock, prevents certain sites from breaking when tracker requests are denied by serving local bundled files as replacement.
NoScript: The nuclear option for blocking trackers, ads, and even individual elements. Operates from a "trust no one" standpoint, you will need to manually enable elements yourself. Not recommended for casual users, but a fantastic tool for the power user.
Webmail Ad Blocker: The first of many webmail related add-ons from Jason Saward I will be recommending. Removes all advertising from webmail services like Gmail or Yahoo Mail.
Popup Blocker (Strict): Strictly blocks ALL pop up/new tab/new window requests from all website by default unless you manually allow it.
SponsorBlock: Not a fan of listening to your favourite YouTuber read advertisements for shitty products like Raycons or BetterHelp? This skips them automatically.
AdNauseam: I don't use this one but some people prefer it. Rather than straight up blocking ads and trackers, it obfuscates data by injecting noise into the tracker surveillance infrastructure. It clicks EVERY ad, making your data profile incomprehensible.
User-Agent Switcher: Allows you to spoof websites attempting to gather information by altering your browser profile. Want to browse mobile sites on desktop? This allows you to do it.
Bitwarden: Bitwarden has been my choice of password manager since LastPass sold out and made their free tier useless. If you're not using a password manager, why not? All of my passwords look like this: $NHhaduC*q3VhuhD&scICLKjvM4rZK5^c7ID%q5HVJ3@gny I don't know a single one of them and I use a passphrase as a master password supplemented by two-factor-authentication. Everything is filled in automatically. It is the only way to live.
Proton Pass: An open source free password manager from the creators of Proton Mail. I've been considering moving over to it from Bitwarden myself.
Webmail/Google Drive:
Checker Plus for Gmail: Provides desktop notifications for Gmail accounts, supports managing multiple accounts, allows you to check your mail, read, mark as read or delete e-mails at a glance in a pop-up window. An absolutely fabulous add-on from Jason Saward.
Checker Plus for Google Drive: Does for your Google Drive what Checker Plus for Gmail does for your Gmail.
Checker Plus for Google Calendar: The same as the above two only this time for your Google Calendar.
Firefox Relay: An add-on that allows you to generate aliases that forward to your real e-mail address.
Accessibility:
Dark Reader: Gives every page on the internet a customizable Dark Mode for easier reading and eye protection.
Read Aloud: A text to speech add-on that reads pages with the press of a button.
Zoom Page WE: Provides the ability to zoom in on pages in multiple ways: text zoom, full page zoom, auto-fit etc.
Mobile Dyslexic: Not one I use, but I know people who swear by it. Replaces all fonts with a dyslexia friendly type face.
Utility:
ClearURLs: Automatically removes tracking data from URLs.
History Cleaner: Automatically deletes browser history older than a set number of days.
Feedbro RSS Feed Reader: A full standalone reader in your browser, take control of your feed and start using RSS feeds again.
Video Download Helper: A great tool for downloading video files from websites.
Snap Link Plus: Fan of Wikipedia binge holes? Snap Link allows the user to drag select multiple hyperlinks and open all of them in new tabs.
Copy PlainText: Copy any text without formatting.
EPUBReader: Read .epub files from within a browser window.
Tab Stash: A no mess, no fuss way to organize groups of tabs as bookmarks. I use it as a temporary bookmark tool, saving sessions or groups of tabs into "to read" folders.
Tampermonkey/Violentmonkey: Managers for installing and running custom user scripts. Find user scripts on OpenUserJS or Greasy Fork, there's an entire galaxy out there of ingenious and weird custom user scripts out there, go discover it.
Browsing & Searching:
Speed Dial 2: A new tab add-on that gives you easy access to your favourite sites.
Unpaywall: Whenever you come across a scholarly article behind a paywall, this add-on will search through all the free databases for an accessible and non-paywalled version of the text.
Web Archives: Come across a dead page? This add-on gives you a quick way to search for cached versions of the page on the Wayback Machine, Google Cache, Archive.is and others.
Bypass Paywalls: Automatically bypasses the paywalls of major websites like those for the New York Times, New Yorker, the Financial Times, Wired, etc.
Simple Translate: Simple one-click translation of web pages powered by Google Translate.
Search by Image: Reverse search any image via several different search engines: Google Image, TinEye, Yandex, Bing, etc.
Website Specific:
PocketTube: Do you subscribe to too many YouTube channels? Would you like a way to organize them? This is your answer.
Enhancer for Youtube: Provides a suite of options that make using YouTube more pleasant: volume boost, theatre mode, forced quality settings, playback speed and mouse wheel volume control.
Augmented Steam: Improves the experience of using Steam in a browser, see price histories of games, take notes on your wishlist, make wish listed games and new DLC for games you own appear more visible, etc.
Return YouTube Dislikes: Does exactly what it says on the package.
BlueBlocker: Hate seeing the absolute dimmest individuals on the planet have their replies catapulted to the top of the feed because they're desperate to suck off daddy Elon sloppy style? This is for you, it automatically blocks all Blue Checks on Twitter. I've used it to block a cumulative 34,000 Blue Checks.
Batchcamp: Allows for batch downloading on Bandcamp.
XKit Rewritten: If you're on Tumblr and you're not using whichever version of XKit is currently available, I honestly don't know what to say to you. This newest version isn't as fully featured as the old XKit of the golden age, but it's been rewritten from the ground up for speed and utility.
Social Fixer for Facebook: I once accidentally visited Facebook without this add-on enabled and was immediately greeted by the worst mind annihilating content slop I had ever had the misfortune to come across. Videos titled "he wanted her to get lip fillers and she said no so he had bees sting her lips" and AI photos of broccoli Jesus with 6000 comments all saying "wow". Once I turned it on it was just stuff my dad had posted and updates from the Radio War Nerd group.

Well I think that's everything. You don't have to install everything here, or even half of it, but there you go, it's a start.

Tumblr media
Screenshot feedly mit KI-Frage
"Is this article about immigration?"
Ich so "Hä? Ne."
