the way this works!

so the deal with vending machine commissions is that they're lower in price because they're on a smaller canvas size (7x9in as opposed to 10x15in) and because they have a specific visual theme/creative limitations!

email me at machiavellerie@gmail.com with something like 'vending machine commission' in the subject, tell me the elements you want, and also the characters! I'll email you back confirming it all, and then send you an invoice! (this email here is not my paypal email, so do not send money ahead of time, I will be using invoices)

if you want to tell me about the mood you have in mind, I'd love to hear it! yearning, playful, flirty, etc. additionally, if you have OCs, visual references are a huge help, even just face claims of actors.

I will check in once while I work on these, just so that you can see the direction it's heading in and give you an ETA on when it'll be done! unlike regular commissions, which are a lot more collaborative and have weekly check-ins, these are specific in nature, they're meant to invoke a specific type of illustration visual :)

a note on the poses: these are basically bases for me to reference. smaller adjustments to the poses will be made based on the characters, the tone of the interaction, etc. feel free to request your characters kissing, by the way! but also please only do this if the pose you picked has made it anatomically possible, the neck can only twist so much. you may not request a pose that isn't in the folder.

A letter from your fave: Scum's Valentine's Day Fun

A couple of years ago, I opened up my inbox, spur of the moment, so anyone could send in an ask sharing their ideal date or way they would love to spend Valentine's Day with their favorite suitor. Once I received a couple of asks on them, I wrote letters from those suitors based on the scenarios I was presented with! The letters were a letter from Vincent, and another from Arthur.

I'd like to open requests for Valentine's letters again, for Ikevamp and Ikepri! From Today (January 8th) to Feburary 8th, please feel free to send in asks detailing either your ideal way to spend Valentine's day with your fave, or even a letter you'd wish to write to your fave for the holiday and receive one back!

You can see what characters I feel more confident with here, but for this situation I don't mind attempting the 'will not write' characters as long as they're in the ENG versions of these games. omg ive never met someone who lives in the southern hemisphere and ive always wanted to ask and i hope this doesn't come off as insensitive but what does the holiday season look like is it still pine trees and snowflakes cause your weather is different (i tried to be as vague as possible im so sorry if you don't celebrate holidays 😭)

Well- I guess whatever weather is happening in the Northern Hemisphere, the Opposite is happening in the Southern

Right now it's about 2:30pm on a Friday and the weather is 35°Celsius or 95°Fahrenheit ✨️ And there's a heatwave/wet season going on so it's Super Duper humid ehe

As for Holidays I suppose people decorate for Christmas, it's definitely not super common? Most I do is pop up a Christmas tree but I know others do their whole house and even hang up lights too - I guess it depends on Christmas spirit haha

Christmas Time is Summer Time Basically - For Australia, Our Summer holiday happens at the end/beginning of the year - School Begins at the Beginning of the year, not the middle

Halloween in Spring (Not Many People Partake Through)

I Live in a Subtropic State by the Coast so I've never seen Snow or Snowfall before - We also don't have a large stretch of "Vacation" in the middle of the year

Easter in Autumn (But where I Live at Least, the leaves don't turn orange)

he hasn't forgotten the gift you gave him a month ago.

it was just a small pouch of handmade chocolates, yet he was moved by the honesty of the present. he hadn't understood valentine's day, and he still doesn't, but from what he's heard from hu tao and zhongli, a month after february 14th comes white day, where he'll give you a gift himself.

at least, that was what the two of them suggested.

and he intended to follow that advice. remembering the warm, unusual but pleasant feeling that had arose through his body when you had handed him the sweets, smiling softly... he wanted to give you that feeling too. he wanted to make you as happy as you had made him, in that moment.

and xiao isn't a great cook, not by any means, but he tries his best to learn. with the help of several friends and the wangshu inn boss, verr goldet, he manages to make... a presentable gift. when he gives it a small taste test, it seems to be edible, at least, and still somewhat retains its intended heart shape. it's a little oddly colored, wobbly in some parts, but he's satisfied with it.

and so the day finally comes. he's prepared a speech, or more like a couple sentences, to say to you, if you're willing to hear it.

"love. i have something for you."

"oh, xiao! and you really don't have to-"

"you gave me a gift, so i have to return the favor." his face his flushed red from where he's hiding it with his gloved hand desperately, his other hand holding out the small wrapped pouch that he had spent hours on trying to tie on the perfect beaded ribbon. "h-here. take it."

you gingerly held the bag, as if it might disappear, then stared up at the red-faced man with eyes full of wonder. "this... this is for me?"

"d-don't get any wrong ideas. it was only because adepti... adepti honor the holidays of you mortals."

you laugh, a delightful sound that only causes the male to redden deeper.

"right."

there's a fact that's not known to many - and it's that commissioner kamisato ayato actually is quite fond of sweets.

it's something you learn with time as you gradually note how every time you visit the kamisato estate, ayato always has some form of chocolate, mochi, even candy, the kind that inazuman kids eat, in a little round dish on his desk.

so when feburary rolls around, you decide to gift ayato something. you're not exactly sure what, but it's going to be sweet. and what better fitting than some valentine's day chocolate? it takes a bit of work, though to be fair, you do know your way about the kitchen slightly better than the average person. not much of an advantage, but an advantage nonetheless.

and when the 14th comes and you present your finished treats to the azul-haired man himself, his reaction surprises you. with sparkling eyes, he gently takes the pouch from you, before glancing at you, then back at the gift.

"for me? really?"

"yep! hopefully you'll like it." you grin sheepishly. "this was my first time making this sort of thing, so if it doesn't taste great, just tell me. i can always try and make another batch, if that's what you want."

"don't worry, i'll like it."

and since then, for the past month, he's been thinking about that moment. he wants to pay you back, but not just that. he wants to let you know that he did appreciate it. all of it.

hence, he's come up with a solution - to gift you chocolates himself.

he's lucky that white day is quite the popular holiday in inazuma, otherwise he wouldn't have the excuse to pull it off. he contacts you beforehand, and you respond your agreement to meet up, completely oblivious.

"this. this is for you, sweet." he smiles softly while he says the name, placing the small gift in your outstretched palms. he takes note of every expression that flits across your face - confusion, then surprise, finishing off with a happy yet flustered gaze. he knew you too well, well enough to read your face like a book.

"me?" even as you ask it, you take the pouch and hold it tightly in your hands, eyes wide with the suddenness of it all.

"who else? of course i meant you, the most beautiful and kind person in the whole of teyvat."

itto... is an interesting case.

you're fond of him, that much is true. and you're good friends with him also - the two of you are close. yet why does he always... try to impress you?

at first its almost unnoticeable. he reports to you about his wins and mutters his losses at the end of each day, where you're nodding along, already half asleep.

but after you give him some homemade chocolates for valentine's, that behavior had spiked. whenever you saw him, which was often, he would only recount to you about how he had beaten this one child and how he won this and that and how kuki had made him return whatever he had taken as his victory spoils... it wasn't annoying, per say, but you did wish to know why he was doing all of this.

itto just wants to impress you, is all.

he's been wanting to pay you back after you gifted him those chocolates on valentine's, but he just hasn't found the right thing! - until now. itto isn't a man who really follow schedules, a calendar, or reason, but he does somehow know that white day is coming up, a holiday that was sort of like reverse valentine's. and that meant he could finally pay that debt.

"hey hey! you free this afternoon?" itto inquires of you in the morning, while you just stare at him, groggy-eyed and still off floating somewhere in sleep mode.

"huh? yeah... i'm free." you yawn, an action that makes itto inexplicably happy.

"then let's meet at the back of shimura's after he closes up, okay? you got that? don't forget!" with that, he runs off, sending you a little wave on the way out, a silly grin stretching across his face.

when the sun finally reaches its peak in the sky, itto is restless. it's a feeling he doesn't experience often, partly because how his life works and partly because of his behavior. he's usually carefree in just about anything, so really, this is a first.

and you do show up. just the thought itself brings a smile onto the white-haired man's face as he coughs into his hand before bringing out the bouquet of wildflowers that he picked for you off the shores and islands of inazuma, along with more than a several brightly colored sweet treats.

"this is a thank you!" itto grinned, shoving the things into your arms, crimson eyes sparkling.

"i-i can't accept this much-!"

"no wayyyy! psh, c'mon. do it for me?" the oni makes a pouty face, staring at you with his pitiful expression.

"fine. ...thank you." in the sunlit area, you're surprised yet flushed expression is as sweet as the candy he's just given you.

"haha, happy white day!"

There are 365 days in a year for the Leagues, but only 363 of them are factored into their calendar. There are eleven months to a year, each one 33 days. At the beginning of each season, one holiday or festival occurs, which is not counted as part of the year, or of any month.

Each year is divided into two seasons, cuil (the flooding season) and ceine (the scorching season.) these seasons have two smaller divisions: ceine takes up september-february: hraf-ceine, which would be september-november, and sress-ceine, which is december-feburary.

cuil is made up of rraas-cuil, (march-may) and clach-cuil, (june-august).

The year begins during the first month of hraf-ciene, but the year is only considered to have fully developed after the first fire of the season.

A year is called a ciarall, and is a full cycle from the beginning of hraf-ceine to the end of clach-cuil.

Years are collected in groups of eight. Every eight years is called an Epoch, and eight Epochs are an Age.

So far, there have been 5 ages:

the age of dawning, (formation of the skulk and the pod)

the age of the second sun (formation of the coalition)

the age of joined paws (the coalition's alliance with thorned paw and seasonal holidays. the invention of their modern calendar, specifically with the two off-days)

the age of bloodshed (the coalition begins to migrate, the other leagues attack them to try and take their territory, they are defeated by hamilcat barcat and his son, hannibal barcat)

the age of dayspring (the modern era. peace with the skulk and pod users in a new age of prosperity. the leagues' numbers skyrocket.)

I think what we as classic whovians need to do is we need to take a page from the trekkie book. we need to throw more parties. we'd be normaler and have more fun around big anniversaries if we had more random holidays a la first contact day, captain picard day, threshold day etc etc.

The benefit of the now is that all I have to do is get through the holidays. Most things are stuff ive already set up. Packages will be delivered eomewhere this week. Foods been planned. Music beens chosen. My speech has already been written. I should practice it more but besides that... stuffs coming around.

And then itll be January. Nothing planned. And then itll be feburary and there too is nothing planned. And I could just dissapear slowly inbetween the days. Solve every problem with it. And nobody would notice.

2023 newt/hermann exchange (interest check + brief poll)

hi Newt/Hermann nation!! it's November at last, so as per the annual tradition i'm gearing up to run the newmann secret santa/winter gift exchange once again! I got an ask about it earlier this fall and it seems like there's enough interest that I can go ahead and start sign-ups soon. (as a reminder on what the gift exchanges are, here's the info post from last year--stay tuned for another one this year, lol)

i DID want to run a brief poll to get opinions on the length of the exchange. more on this below the cut!

in the previous years i've run the secret santa exchange I typically have the matches ready and out by late november/early december, with the 'due date' being around new year's in january (barring extensions, last minute pinch hitters, and belated gifts of course!). in a newmann discord chat recently I had a few people suggest expanding the loose deadline to be around valentine's day in feburary instead so it can be a nice long winter holidays exchange. this would give people at least two months to work on gifts rather than just December! and this way the deadline won't be in the middle of in a very busy season (ie, holidays, parties, family obligations, final exams if you're in school, and so on). of course you would still be welcome to gift by new year's if you would like :)

i'll keep the poll up for a week but will most likely open exchange sign-ups earlier than that if one option is winning by a landslide. full disclosure, I'm leaning towards the extended deadline, but I wanted to make sure other people don't have large newmann/pacrim fandom events planned for jan/feb that I would be overlapping with!

whether you vote or not, I would also greatly appreciate if you could drop a reply or a like on this post if you are planning on signing up so I can get a rough idea of how many people might be participating this year! it helps me budget time for doing the matches/contacting everyone
