People who say Jess' writing was peak during MCD are just nostalgic, they're the gen wunners of the fandom ifykyk.

BECAUSE it clearly peaked when she was writing the angst fest that is fcu for mys!aphmau, it genuinely is heart wrenching to me to watch the hussy note episode, and when she wrote mid!Ava, sure Ava's just another self insert but I like the detail that instead of making this character that's explicitly supposed to be human, not be called Aphmau. It's a brilliant way of separating that universe from mcd/mys's universe.

So what is the F.C.U?

basically, its the SCP Facility but for Freak Fortress! think of this ig as an AU? but i wouldn’t really… idk what you would call it-

So it’s an SCP copy?

Yea! kinda! i mean they themselves know of SCP through one of the anomalies they contain (It’s like a mirror-) and they think of themselves as their TF2 related little brother!

Yes of course! interaction and additions are very welcome! obviously i will make stuff myself, but i’d love to see what you guys come up with!

here’s like two or so things to form a template:

Must be TF2 related in SOME way or Freak Fortress related, it can even be a TF2/FF2 OC, doesn’t matter!

Can be inanimate! there’s a couple things in there they deem Freaks that are inanimate, like a box or a mirror (they’re really stupid)

Currently they have up to 450 things contained, so make your number through 1-450 until there’s no space, then we can expand

If you create sumn for the F.C.U make sure to tag me or add the tag #F.C.U Anomaly so i could maybe document it! (you will be credited dw, im not evil)

So I'm an Aphmau fan, yes hello - I watched MCD, Mod Mod World, Mystreet, the works alright.

I'm getting back into it, slowly but surely, and I'm working on a rewrite of Falcon Claw University via group roleplay! (If anyone is interested, DMs are open, it's 16+ on discord)

But.. do we actually know what anyone studied? Is it ever mentioned? I cannot find ANYTHING on the topic anywhere online, including the character wikis.

Did Jesson do an entire university season and just never mention what the characters study (major in)? Really?

Does anyone have any head canons? Cause personally I'm struggling - and I'd just love to hear them tbh!

I just rewatched FCU and had so much fun. I think it’s one of the most slept on series/seasons that Jess made.

I like the drama and tension with Aphmau and the rumors, Aaron trying to escape his abusive/overbearing father, the whole love drama in general is interesting and decently handled. I love how we get more insight into Aaron’s background and personality as a whole. Poor boy is so repressed the whole season and just an awkward social wreck.

The new characters and dynamics are so fun too!! I like Terra(idk how to spell her name) Diana, Ken, Jenny, Betty, and Cathy. I like Garroth’s lingering crush on Aphmau and him struggling to control his super strength. Also, Zane and Nana working as baristas together is such a cute detail/plot line I love it.

The only thing is I wish we got a bit more insight into Aphmau, Cathy, and especially Jenny. Cathy’s whole yandere thing didn’t really work that well for me. Also, I feel like the story vilified Jenny a bit too much? Sure, she didn’t really know Aaron too well as a person, and was trying to ignore how the “relationship” wasn’t working out. But like, sometimes you just have crushes on people without super specific reasons. Besides, Aaron did say yes to her asking him out, and didn’t have the guts to break things off until much later. I also don’t like how her jealousy gets played off as being toxic, of course she wants to spend more time with him after establishing their relationship. Anyways I just really see myself in her so maybe I’m projecting too hard hahaha

TLDR: FCU is underrated!

FCU has some of the best writing in MyStreet, mainly in its way of handling relationships. Most obvious Katelyn and Luca and I’m not saying this out of bias. It explains why Luca isn’t around in later seasons (assuming they broke up) without villainizing either character. It’s pretty clear to see why they don’t stay together in later seasons(Lucas slight hyperness not working with Katelyn’s cooler demeanor, Katelyn not trusting Luca to meet her family) and for whatever reason they broke up it’s clear neither of them are antagonistic characters. Then there’s showing the toxicity between Jenny and Aaron. Jenny is shown to be a good person through the show and only becomes antagonistic after Aaron and Jenny are together but once attention is brought to an issue she realizes her mistakes

TL;DR

FCU is the best show for exploring why relationships may have issues with quite a bit of nuance

Okay so Romeo, in MCD he's a decendant of Irene like levin is, but in mystreet and PDH he's aphs cousin.

I don't know if he's from Zacks side or Sylvannas side yet, I'm leaning towards Zacks.

During high school he was a but of a social floater, he got along with everyone well enough that people didn't bother him.

He didn't really interact with aph alot in high-school until the last year mostly because during highschool he was moved around foster homes alot, he knew of her and knew they were family but he had it drilled in his head back then that his family didn't want him at all.

When he got to FCU he accidently became friendly with Blaze and Aaron, during this time Aaron and Blaze were young dad central so romeo babysat for them when they had to do stuff for Uni and he didn't have anything else to do.

Romeo had a small crush on Aaron for a week or so before realising aph was kinda in love with him, Aaron, it wasn't an actual crush Romeo gets him emotions and feelings for people confused sometimes.

He hangs around with the pups alot including Blaze and Maria.

I mentioned is a older post but he is a transman, he's pansexual and polyamorous.

From high school to mystreet he's done jobs here and there, from a bakery to a boring office worker, he mostly worked in high school to get his van.

Okay so his van, its a 1970 ford Econoline camper van, he wouldn't use it as a camper van tho, he's mostly use it to haul everyone everywhere.

In mystreet he lives with the pups plus blaze, blazes kid and Maria.

During the final year at FCU blaze and him started dating and then not long after maria moved in with him and the pups she also started dating him.

Anyway that's all I have atm that I can name of the top of my head, if you have any questions just ask!!

Hello everypony, welcome back to Bubbles rants about cube shaped people who's stories may or may not ever be finished, today's topic..

The portrayal of homeschooling in Aphmau's PDH. Reviewed by, a shut in homeschooled teen girl.

Aphmau

PDH!APH IS LEGIT ONE OF THE BEST PORTRAYALS OF HOMESCHOOLING I'VE SEEN.

like she doesn't fall into the 'I was homeschooled, so I'm good at everything' or the 'social freako who was locked inside their house for a reason' stereotypes. She's a normal somewhat awkward, occasionally cringe, teen girl.

Speaking of cringe, I find most (not all) cringe moments very very relatable to irl experiences I've had. Especially the way you don't necessarily realize how words sound when they first come out. (Yes this is about the 'let's make a new one!' Babysitting scene.)

And the whole 'she finds nearly everyone she meets somewhat cute' thing (Katelyn, garroth, laurance, Aaron etc) is the most accurate thing ever, like for non-homeschooled shut ins, imagine how whenever there's a new kid at school and everyone suddenly has a crush on them, but everyone is the new kid to you.

The whole back and fourth she had with Teony on how homeschooling isn't that fun and all she did was play video games? Amazingly accurate to every conversation I've ever had about homeschooling.

Another quick tid bit is that I enjoy the habit Aph has of talking to herself, because sometimes when you have nobody to talk to, you start talking to yourself, but when you do have people to talk to again, the habit of talking to the invisible person doesn't disappear.

I find that Jess having been homeschooled for a year herself due to 9/11, makes her writing and handling of PDH!APH hit home for me.

Aaron.

^ the social freako who was locked in their house for a reason, and I was homeschooled so I'm good at everything. While he is technically a stereotype, he isn't technically homeschooled, he just went to military school.

BUUUTT, he is a good example on how sometimes when you grow up isolated, you stay isolated.

While I relate to Aph more nowadays, what's implied to be how Aaron was pre-senior year does remind me loads of the person I used to be. All lonely and off in a corner.

He really does highlight how some people get their daily social interaction by being aggressive to others. It's harsh, but it's true.

I enjoy how in FCU he is seen actively *trying* to make friends, his struggles are eerily realistic that I quite enjoy. I also like how he portrays how sometimes socially isolated people can be jerks, just like how they can be not jerks.

Conclusions.

Both Aaron and Aph can be seen as two of many ways people can take loneliness. 'Accepting' the loneliness and shutting out any chances of social interaction, and trying to cope with the loneliness by pretending everything is smooth sailing. sometimes you're even a strange hybrid of the two. Moral is, severe isolation sucks.

Anyways this is also one of those times where writing for your and your spouses kinda self inserts come really in handy! Like I said in Aph's final tidbit, Jess' writing really shines whenever she writes stuff she knows.

As an ending bit and a slight disclaimer, this is mainly from my experience of being homeschooled for the past nine years, other people might have different experiences.
