August is Fat Liberation Month, something I did not know existed until this year and am so glad that it does. I've read some of these books, and the rest are ones I want to read.

not be That Insufferable Fat Person but I've been seeing more and more art of this like "Human Moomin" design in the tags and while he IS adorable and I love him and respect the energy I also genuinely am VERY bothered by the fact that He Is Not Fat Enough. He's """"""chubby"""""" in the art, if you can even call it that, but like,,,,, Moomin is a (honestly sort of tall) VERY ROUND character.
why is it when you make him into a human you shrink him and get rid of his stomach? and his round face?? Why did you give that boy a jawline. Pls can anyone hear me

I think Venture Bros is the only time I have seen a fat character who is "out of shape" start working out and remain fat when they get buff.

Is... is that what we're calling it? Kind of an odd way to look at it if you ask me
The article itself is actually p insightful but I just can't get over that wording, lmao

Being weird about fat characters isnt progressive, stop immediately calling them soft, mom like, saying they look like they'd give good hugs??? Devoid of any attention to their actual personality traits, this is dehumanizing and infantilizing

This was such a lovely read. I love both Lauren and Alex to the moon and back. They met each other on some of their worst days and helped build each other back up through banter and flirting and simply getting to know who the other was. I really appreciated that we had the representation of Lauren being burnt out from a job that she loved and the dread of trying to figure out what’s next. I also really appreciated the ADHD rep we got in Alex. It was just so nice to see them dealing with their issues together and finding solutions that worked for them. I think this is one of those books that will stick with me for a while. It’s getting a solid five stars and it might be my favorite of the series so far.

I think vampires would like a chubby love interest. This being starved of warmth, of nourishment, looking near death and pale. And she sees a plus sized person donating at blood drives monthly and she goes hungry for him in so many ways.

The fact people try to say Bob from Tekken is bad fat representation because he's "goofy" as if all the other Tekken characters aren't goofy themselves, like can you really say that Lee or Paul Phoenix are more serious characters? No, because all the characters are supposed to be outlandishly wacky and it's not just Bob being the token funny fat character when almost every character is silly
Like. He's fat, he's got a pretty face and good fashion sense, his personality doesn't revolve around food, and he's strong and healthy AND he's very happy being fat (to the point where he literally gets depressed when he's skinny). And when I think about it most people who complain aren't really in any fat positivity circles so I feel like it's just people being uncomfortable when there's a fat character in the game trying to hide it as concern
Anyways I love Bob forever he's my third main behind Dragunov and Steve and I hope he's in Tekken 8 :]

[ID: A picture of two centaurs in conversation, one smaller centaur posed mid-leap with arms outstretched towards his companion and the other a much larger centaur seated and listening with his eyes closed and smiling. The background is a blue gradient.
Both centaurs have African features and are wearing largely white clothing with blue or green accents. /End ID]
Purchased a commission from @kaijubrainsart of my characters Aziz and Dakari from my Prince of Gold story.

In the last few days I’ve been watching a bunch of older Disney movies to distract myself from the horrors and it is shocking to me how it’s a consistent trope where the fat characters are intended for comic relief. The sultan from Aladdin, Dawson from The Great Mouse Detective, Snoops from The Rescuers…I could go on and on.
I’m sure this has been written about before, but it angers me. I’m not losing sleep over a movie trope, but no wonder I developed an eating disorder early on. Everyone around me happened to be stick thin, and I was very round. And even though it’s not explicitly stated that fat characters are intended to be the butt of every joke, the consistency throughout these movies makes it loud and clear.
Why is that?? Why can’t fat characters be normal or cool characters? Why can’t they be characters who kids would want to emulate? Why did fatness = not to be taken seriously?
Who started this??

Some "jokes" I could never see about plus sized characters for the rest of my life and it'd still be too soon: - the inevitable side comment when they eat something healthy - Stealing food. - they always ate the last snack. - When the possibility of them having a crush on someone is mentioned, the crush is always visibly repulsed at the suggestion. - They are the only member of the group that is physically unfit. I assure you, a good portion of thin people would be out of breath as well if they don't work out regularly. - they are always smelly and have bad hygiene.
I highly doubt it was funny the first time these jokes were made, and they certainly weren't funny every time since then. Do authors not know overweight people in real life?
