They say that the most basic human need is to feel a sense of belonging, to feel welcomed. Eddie’s yet to find that acceptance at Ivy Tech Community College in Fort Wayne, about 25 miles southeast of his hometown. He’d hoped that getting away from Hawkins and joining a program for automotive technology would give him a good shot at meeting some like-minded people but so far, it’s been nothing short of a bust. 

Not only is he yet to touch a car because he’s had to focus on meaningless general education classes first, he’s made one friend. One single friend in the form of a lab partner, and he’s not actually sure if they’re even friends so much as they are two people forced into talking on a regular basis. But Eddie counts it, because it’s all he’s got for now. 

Without his high school reputation and the safety of a familiar environment, college is an ominous beast with sharp teeth. Each day feels like stepping into a pasture with no shepherd, but he’s determined not to fail. Three attempts at graduating high school is enough failure for a lifetime. So yes, he counts his lab partner. 

Besides, if they aren’t really friends yet, Eddie would like to be. Steve’s a good dude— not quite his normal type in company, sure, but he’s studying to become a nurse, he’s smart in a quick-witted non-traditional sort of way, and Eddie can’t imagine anyone being on the receiving end of that smile and not going a little wobbly in the knees. 

Alright, so maybe Eddie wants a little more than friendship but he’s only greedy when the end goal seems possible. And determined as Eddie may be, he can’t imagine that he’s Steve type. Some days are harder than others though, like the days when they’re crammed next to each other in the library at tiny tables, or the days when they hang back in the lab to work through their latest experiment. 

Today though? Today is downright painful. 

Today, he’s in Steve’s fucking apartment. Steve’s tiny, off-campus apartment that he shares with someone named Robin who Eddie can only assume is his girlfriend. There are pictures of the two of them all over the place, distracting Eddie from the lab report they’re supposed to be working on. Words jump off the page in front of him as he sits cross legged on the floor with his back against the couch Steve’s sitting on. It doesn’t help that Steve’s sitting so close, his foot occasionally grazing Eddie’s side, his thigh close enough for Eddie to rest his head against. 

Twice now, Steve’s leaned down over Eddie’s shoulders to get a closer look at the data chart, turning to face him close enough that their noses nearly touch. Eddie’s just about stopped breathing both times because his hair tickles Eddie’s ear and he smells so good. 

Molecular weight. Boiling point. Propanol. 

He tries his damndest to focus on his section, opting to take on the procedures and data analysis while Steve works on the lengthy conclusion section, but he just— 

He can’t. Maybe he can’t be friends with Steve after all. Not when he’s sitting in his apartment, surrounded by happy pictures of Steve with his girlfriend, feeling his disappointment grow stronger and stronger. Through his haze, he barely recognizes Steve asking him a question. 

“Hello? Eddie? Earth to Eddie Munson?” Steve nudges him gently in the shoulder with his knee. “We have to rank the order that the pure substances traveled through the column from fastest to slowest, and you’ve got the data.” 

Eddie shakes his head, trying his best to hide his disappointment that Steve can’t be a friend because of his own stupid crush and that Steve can’t be more because well, he’s clearly spoken for and why wouldn’t he be? Who wouldn’t just fall ass over ankles for Steve? 

Apparently, he already has. 

“Uh, hey man, you good? Seriously, you’re kinda freaking me out.” Steve drops his papers on the coffee table and slides off the couch to kneel in front of Eddie. He reaches out and gently tips his chin up, probably checking for some kind of medical issue. 

Stupid nursing program, Eddie thinks. But he just looks up, lets himself be guided by Steve soft, practiced hand and makes eye contact. Hazel, he thinks. I’ve never been close enough to notice that. 

But he still hasn’t spoken and can see that Steve is truly starting to panic so he swallows and finds his tongue again. 

“I’m fine, I’m good, promise. Just uh, just lost in thought. That’s a thing that I do a lot, you’ve seen my notebooks,” he tries to laugh it off but Steve doesn’t drop his hand. He simply slides it to the side, resting carefully on Eddie’s cheek. Eddie’s sure that Steve can feel it growing warmer beneath his touch. 

“What about?” Steve asks, inquisitive. Eddie must be going insane because he swears he sees Steve’s eyes flicker between his gaze and his lips. 

Eddie smiles, mostly fake but there’s something about Steve’s touch that does give him a reason to. 

“Didn’t know you had a girlfriend, that’s all. Got a little lost looking at all the pictures, she seems awesome.”

Not that he’s thought too deeply about how Steve would react, but hysterical laughter wouldn’t have been one of them if he had. But that’s what he sees: Steve falling to the side, his face turning red, his hand slipping from Eddie’s cheek to his chest, and his elbow leaning on the coffee table as his entire body shakes with laughter. 

What the fuck is going on here? Eddie wonders.

“That’s—” Steve tries to speak but takes several tries to get audible words out. “God, she knew that was gonna happen, I owe Robin $20.” 

Eddie sits, stuck in place, his eyes wide and brows knitted tightly above his nose. “Robin? What was gonna happen? $20?” 

“Oh my God, Eddie, I’m— no. Robin is the girl in these pictures, and she’s my best friend. She bet me $20 that the pictures were gonna throw you off and I thought I’d been obvious enough by now that you wouldn’t go down that route. But no, we’re definitely not dating. I’m uh, I’m not exactly her type.” Steve grins and slowly sits back upright, this time cross-legged to mirror Eddie’s position, their knees touching this time. 

“How the fuck could you not be someone’s type?” Eddie lets slip, his mouth moving faster than his brain. No surprise there. 

Before he can take it back, Steve just quirks one eyebrow up. “Well, unless I wake tomorrow a woman… not gonna happen. Did you miss that picture?” 

Eddie follows Steve’s finger that’s pointing to the largest picture hung on the wall, one of them at a Pride event. Robin sits on Steve’s shoulders, wearing a flag of varying shades of reds, oranges, and purples like a cape around her neck. Steve’s smiling from ear to ear, otherwise dressed as he does every day save for the pink, purple, and blue stripes painted on his cheek. 

It’s the largest picture in the room, and somehow, Eddie’s missed it completely.

“So yeah, not really her type. Is that why you’ve been so quiet? And completely ignoring all of my attempts to make a move?” 

“A move? On what?” Eddie asks, incredulous. 

Steve shrugs and leans forward, resting his palms on Eddie’s knees. “You, dumbass. Why else would we study here instead of the library?” 

“Gonna level with you here, I didn’t even think about it. I figured you were just tired of me almost getting us kicked out for being too loud or something! That was not obvious, Steve.” Eddie’s heart pounds in his chest, hope clawing its way through a graveyard of isolation. 

Steve just huffs a small laugh through his nose and bites his lower lip. “Let me be clearer, then. I like you. And maybe we can see if we’ve got as much chemistry as propanol and… whatever the fuck else was on that list, I don’t remember.” 

It’s Eddie’s turn to laugh, wild and free as he throws his head back against the couch. When he looks back at Steve, his laughter lulls to a soft smile. “Jesus Christ, that was so bad and I can’t believe it’s about to work on me.” 

“Yeah?” Steve grins, leaning closer, almost closing the distance. 

Eddie nods, breathless. “Yeah.”

Terrible chemistry puns and pick up lines aside, kissing Steve does feel like a chemical reaction, one that deserves its own lab report. 

His lips are soft, a little chapped to match Eddie’s, but he moves with intention and care, two things Eddie isn’t familiar with. He’s kissed before but not like this, not like his partner is trying to pour affection into him with every movement. Over time, he’ll grow to learn that that’s just how Steve is, all-in on everything he finds worth his time and energy. 

Their lab report goes forgotten in favor of learning more about one another until Robin comes home hours later, thankfully after they’ve washed up and settled in on the couch in a much less precarious position. 

“Aw, man,” she bemoans, dropping her bag next to the door with a loud thud. “I really thought the pictures were gonna cockblock you.” 

Eddie elbows Steve in the side. “Pay up, Stevie. Be a man of your word. I don’t date men with poor integrity.” 

“You two are gonna be the worse fucking tag team, goddamn it,” he mutters under his breath as he lifts his hips up to fish around for his wallet, tossing a $20 on the coffee table. “I don’t think it should count because it was fine once I explained!” 

Robin grins, walking over to the couch and grabbing the bill off the table before making herself comfortable in the free corner next to Eddie. 

“Eddie, I’ve heard a lot about you and I think we’re gonna be really good friends.” 

He finds himself sandwiched between Steve and Robin for the rest of the night, comfortable and welcomed, as though he’s belonged there the whole time. The evening doesn’t end with Eddie making a friend out of Steve, but how can he complain when he finds so much more?

On your world, you were the child of Diana Prince and Steve Trevor, a demi-demi god so to speak. Your mother sent you out with your sword and shield to protect the Earth from the arrival of Zod.

Didn’t take long for the Barrys to seek you out, you were more than happy to join them.

You met Kara when you helped the Barrys and Bruce free her.

You were the first kind hand to touch hers. Her hand immediately wrapped around yours. “You’re safe” you tried to reassure her.

You aided this makeshift Justice League, as Barry Prime called it, in the battle against Zod. In fact, it was you that saved Kara from Zod’s arm blade. You were struck in the shoulder but it allowed Kara an opening to kill Zod and send the Kryptonian army fleeing, saving the earth.

“I though i lost you” Kara whispered as she held you

“Not yet” you answered back with a smirk.

Kara was stuck like glue to you from that point on, even after Barry Prime went back to fix his timeline

You, Kara, Barry 2, and Bruce, meanwhile, began forming your own version of the Justice League, scouring the globe for other hidden meta humans. It’s still a work in progress but hey that’s being a team.

You and Kara train daily, both in the Batcave and in your personal quarters ;)

It took a long time for Kara to begin showing any emotion or affection. You didn’t blame her, it was hard for her, growing up in a Serbian prison cell that had no care for her.

You took your time with her, showing her little signs of love, gentle caresses of her hand, shoulder touches, little gifts for her. The little things that slowly brought her out of her shell.

Now that she’s free to show love, she can’t stop showing it to you. She jumps on your back, kisses your lips and neck whenever she can. She holds your hand any chance she can.

Kara loves going on dates with you when you’re not both busy saving the world.

Bruce, while he may look disapprovingly on you, he actually approves.

Kara helps Barry hone his speed skill and slowly but surely become his universe’s fastest man alive.

Kara loves sleeping as the little spoon. Makes her feel safe to have your arms wrapped around her.

Energy? Kara can go for rounds in training. And many rounds in your room.

Bruce bought you and Kara an apartment in the best part of Gotham. And since he didn’t have kids of his own, Bruce got legal documents listing Kara as his adopted daughter. Makes it easier to get places for missions. Or so Bruce says.

After saving the world countless times, you and Kara decided to take a leap year, time to travel the world and just enjoy each other’s company.

It was during this trip that Kara officially met your parents on Themyscira. Diana took a liking to Kara immediately.

You and Kara found yourselves just loving to hike and enjoy the sights of your home island.

It was on one hike on Themyscira that Kara asked you an important question.

“My love,” she asks you uneasily, “if we ever have a baby boy, can we name him Kal?”

“Kal? After your cousin? I love it!” You gave her a little hug and kiss on the forehead, earning a giggle from the Maiden of Might.

You love Kara with all your being. You pledged your soul, your sword and shield to her.

“Is that your way of proposing?” She asks you with a giggle.

My mum remembers Coca-Cola coming to the country for the first time.

The first time that bottled coke, in the sleek glass bottles with the elaborately painted logo, was sold out of crates and chillers by a vendor who would cycle from house to house, stacked crates in tow.

They'd seen them before, of course. Granddad was very well-travelled, his work took him across the country and occasionally overseas. It made him a knowledgeable, well-read and respected man. He'd been abroad: Malaysia, Germany, Indonesia, other places I wasn't told about. He'd seen Coca-Colas. He was an adventurer of sorts, which I suppose shouldn't seem too out of the ordinary for someone who had chosen a career of tinkering with chemicals professionally. Wherever he travelled, mum recounted, he'd bring back a little souvenir. Music from abroad, posters, books, branded sweets that weren't sold in protectionist India.

It wasn't an unreasonable decision. After 200 years of being leached dry and Indian industry being virtually nonexistent, it wasn't hard to see why post-colonial India had closed off its domestic industries to outsiders. The government took control of most local trade and incentivised the Indian economy to grow without competition from wealthier players (at that point, there were companies that were wealthier than the entire nation of India).

This did however mean that no international products were sold in India. Imports were limited to the most basic parts and things that could not be procured locally, often raw materials. Coca-Cola was limited to glimpses in foreign films, and of course, to those who travelled. (Nothing was banned, of course. It was about the economy, not access to international goods.)

This changed in 1991. Finance Minister Manmohan Singh's decision to deliberately devalue the rupee, open up the tightly-controlled Indian market for trade and usher in the age of globalisation introduced the world to India again, this time in its local paan shop (or cornershop, aware of the fact that like 3 people that follow me at best will know what that means). Mum remembers buying Coca Cola for the first time, in rupees, locally in 1991 as a girl. It sounds like a very small and trivial thing, but it was part of a decision that changed the Indian economy's fortunes forever.

From a country that had maybe two weeks' worth of forex reserves in tow, India evolved to become one of the fastest-growing GDPs in the world. It was once again Dr. Manmohan Singh's policies, this time as Prime Minister in 2008, that meant India escaped the worst of the global financial crisis. The economy didn't crash, didn't go into recession, fewer jobs were lost, and largely, India emerged unscathed compared to larger economies out west.

But I think about some of these little things, and how he changed the country forever, as the nation observes his passing today.

On 22nd November 1869 the clipper "Cutty Sark" was launched at Dumbarton on the River Clyde.

Cutty Sark was built for a firm of ship owners called Willis & Sons, headed by John ‘Jock’ Willis, whose ambition was that she be the fastest ship in the annual race to bring home the first of the new season’s tea from China.

She was designed by Hercules Linton, a partner in the Dumbarton firm of Scott & Linton. It is believed that he moulded the bowlines of Willis’s earlier vessel Tweed into the midship attributes of Firth of Forth fishing boats, creating a beautiful new hull shape that was stronger, could take more sail, and be driven harder than any other.

The company had never built a ship of this size before and ran into financial difficulties, eventually going bankrupt before she was completed. The final details of the fitting out had to be completed by William Denny & Brothers, Scott & Linton’s landlords and the guarantors for the completion of the work on the original contract.

Cutty Sark was towed to Greenock for final work on her masts and rigging. She was then taken to London to load her first cargo for China in 1870.

The ship was named after Cutty-sark, the nickname of the witch Nannie Dee in Robert Burns's 1791 poem Tam o' Shanter. The ship's figurehead, the original of which has been attributed to carver Fredrick Hellyer of Blackwall, is a stark white carving of a bare-breasted Nannie Dee with long black hair holding a grey horse's tail in her hand. In the poem she wore a linen sark that she had been given as a child, which explains why it was cutty, or in other words far too short. The erotic sight of her dancing in such a short undergarment caused Tam to cry out "Weel done, Cutty-sark", which subsequently became a well known catchphrase. Originally, carvings by Hellyer of the other scantily clad witches followed behind the figurehead along the bow, but these were removed by Willis in deference to 'good taste'. Tam o' Shanter riding Meg was to be seen along the ship's quarter. The motto, Where there's a Willis away, was inscribed along the taffrail. The Tweed, which acted as a model for much of the ship which followed her, had a figurehead depicting Tam o' Shanter.

Unfortunately for Willis, the launch of the Cutty Sark coincided with the opening of the Suez Canal and the growing popularity of steamships. Steam-driven ships could pass through the canal, whereas clipper ships like the Cutty Sark could not. That meant that steam, ships could cut thousands of miles off the trip to China to collect tea. The Cutty Sark, though one of the fastest clipper ships ever built, was outmoded almost before it sailed.

While the Cutty Sark's career in the tea trade was less than a success, her next career in the Australian wool trade was where she truly shone. From 1883-95 the ship made the Australian run, bringing wool exports back to London.

The Cutty Sark consistently outsailed her competitors, and she dominated the wool trade for over a decade, earning a reputation for exceptional speed on the 2-month voyage. She famously once overtook and passed the steamship Britannia, travelling at a rate of 17 knots.

But once more the steamship spoiled the Cutty Sark's career, and once the steam vessels made the Australian wool trade their own, the Cutty Sark was sold to a Portuguese company. From 1895-1922 the ship (renamed Ferreira) was a tramp vessel, carrying cargo between Portugal and the far-flung corners of the Portuguese Empire.

In 1922 the Ferreira put into Falmouth to repair damage suffered in a gale. A retired sea captain named Wilfred Dowman saw the ship and determined to buy her. Dowman restored the Cutty Sark to approximately how she had appeared during her days as a tea clipper.

The ship was used for naval training until 1951 when it was sent to London for the Festival of Britain. She might well have been scrapped following the festival, but the ship was saved by the National Maritime Museum and put into dry dock at Greenwich in 1954, beside the Old Royal Naval College.

In 2007 a devastating fire broke out aboard the Cutty Sark, and it appeared that the ship might be completely destroyed. Thankfully total disaster was avoided, but the subsequent restoration lasted until 2012.

Bentley Mulliner Bacalar (1 of 12). 

Bentley’s Mulliner division is bringing something very close to traditional coachbuilding back. The 2021 Bentley Mulliner Bacalar is a stunning roofless barchetta based on the Continental GT Convertible, but with completely different bodywork. Mulliner maked 12 of the Bacalar, all of which have already been sold to the sort of ultra-rich buyers who flock to such ultra-limited editions. However, the company says this is just a toe in the water for what is set to become a growing part of its business. Bacalar shares all of its substructure and mechanical package with the Continental GT Convertible, but the aluminium and carbon-fibre bodywork is all new.

Decided to challenge myself by drawing every single TLK character out there, up until this point in time, and post it here. You can see the finished project on my main account, though I figured to post it on my tumblr just show I could proudly show off my work and a few of my head canons.

Here are all the cheetahs across TLK:

Starting off, as always, with the most popular choices, we have TLG's very own Fuli/Kufuli(lock)and Azaad(free/liberated-Arabic). You know their stories in TLG, so I'll continue with what comes after. Fuli eventually gets the urge to roam as all cheetahs do and, with several sad goodbyes, leaves the Tree of Life to go travel the land, soon accompanied by Azaad. Eventually she would return, with a large belly and four cubs on the way, and would stay there to help raise her young in the best environment. Meanwhile Azaad, as a male cheetah, isn't the most involved parent,  preferring the typical solitary male lifestyle and stay in his own territory, though he has met his cubs and he and Fuli are great friends. I changed Fuli's pattern to reflect the more 'king cheetah' aspect of her, giving her a more regal gold pelt color with more prominent spots, though with Azaad I look the artistic liberty of making him a ticked/spotless cheetah. Their daughters would take after either parents with their spots, though their son, Risasi, is the most 'normal' in terms of coat pattern, resembling more his grandparents, especially his maternal grandmother Umeme.

Continuing on Fuli's family tree, featured in "Fight For the Throne", is her father Kesho(tomorrow). A king cheetah with a lovely coat pattern and an ego too big to contain, a  prideful, arrogant, and yet cowardly fellow with delusions of grandeur.  When Simba was just beginning his reign, Kesho was an open critic, disliking lions for causing this issue in the first place and doubting their ability to fix this. Catching word of these complaints, Simba confronted Kesho and, to his surprise, Simba offered him the position of king then and there, with a challenge. If Kesho was so sure of his capabilities as a leader, then Simba would give him a week of all the duties and responsibilities of ruler, with the promise to give him the role permanently if he could make it through the week. Stunned, and full of himself, Kesho accepted. Needless to say, after only a few days of dealing with the duties and trials of being ruler, Kesho practically threw himself down at Simba's feet after a few days, beginning him to return and take back control, apologizing for his remarks. After that, Kesho, left humiliated and exhausted, left on his own from the Pridelands, never to be seen again, too ashamed and unable to deal with the rumors of 'unlawful usurpation' or that he was in cahoots for the throne with the hyenas. Hasn't been seen since, though he would've been proud to have a daughter who was named the fastest on the Lion Guard and savior of the Pridelands, if only to help boost his ego. I know his design is pretty... much, though given how proud he is, I felt it be a crime not to go all out for giving credence of his looks to his ego, as well as showcase some of the more bold and impressive parts of his design, including the 'evil eye-spots'.

Going back to the time of Simba's childhood is one of his friends, 'Swifty'/Wepesi(lightness, swift, rapid) from "The Race". Though initially arrogant and competitive, he earned the respect and grew more humbler after Simba and his friends saved him from becoming food for the red tongues/fire, and Wepesi would grow to appreciate the cub's fierceness and loyalty. Once grown, he would rove as all male cheetahs do, though would eventually find out about Simba and reach out to him before roving once more, but not before siring a cub with Beba's mother.

Speaking of, Beba(carry) is a young male cheetah from "A Snake in the Grass". An only child, his mother decided to give him company and friends by reaching out to the Mbala pride, whereupon he befriended Afua and the other cubs. Eventually he would mature and go out to rove, he eventually would return to settle in the territory and occasionally assist the pride as an unofficial messenger and occasionally socialized, but the fellow is more then happy on his own. The once energetic and boastful cub has matured into a calm, collected adult.

Next up are two lesser-known, nameless cheetahs, one from the time of Mohatu, the other from the opening of the Lion King. First off is Haraka(quickly/haste) the cheetah(and not the ostrich) from "The Brightest Star". A rather submissive and quiet in comparison to the majority of his species, he has a good heart and was able to serve during the drought as a scout and messenger for new water sources and further in Mohatu's reign. He also is Fuli's ancestor through her mother.

Beside him, the cheetah featured in the opening scene of the first film and later as one in the trio during Kovu's trial/exile, is Ajia(quick, fast-Arabic). The mother to a large litter of cubs, including the cheetah bros, she's a stern, yet fair and respectful lady who would not tolerate it if she knew what the two of her boys were up to, though as it stands they live in the Oasis and she is still in the Pridelands, though perhaps a visit is in order. I kinda see her what Fuli would've been if Kion hadn't approached her to be part of his Guard, a more distant, cold loner, still respectful of the world and Circle of Life, but not exactly the friendliest cheetah out there... so the ideal cheetah.

Speaking of the cheetah bros from the Timon & Pumbaa Show, bellow her we have Cheetata/Tata(complex) and Cheetato/Tato(tattoo). Tata is the younger, more eager and aggressive twin compared to his duller, more conniving and thorough bro, though both are menaces to the Oasis, enjoying hunting as much as they do making a gruesome spectacle out of tormenting and intimidating their victims. They were often foiled by Timon and Pumbaa, but to prevent them from getting too far in their behavior they had Tangaji/Tanglemane and later Simba to 'politely' make them aware of potential consequences should they continue to be bullies. However after Simba left, the two began to ramp up their antics again, causing havoc, Unfortunately for them, and fortunately for everyone else, their mother just so happen is planning a visit to see them, and she did not raise them to be so disrespectful to others and the Circle of Life.

Continuing with antagonistic cheetah brothers, from "Home, Sweet Home" we have the trio from Lightfoot's coalition, composed of lead brother Lightfoot/Futi(foot), Speedy/Shtaka(charge), Fast-Track/Wayo(track). All three are Umeme's brothers and thus Fuli's maternal uncles, and Futi is Wepesi's father, thus making him and Fuli cousins. In the magazine the three are hunting Stripey the zebra calf, next to where Simba, Pumbaa, and Timon have been staying nearby, and the three thoroughly get their butts kicked by them and are left with multiple bruises to the body and the ego. While Shtaka and Wayo eventually get over it, Futi does not and the three eventually have a falling-out with Futi staying in the jungle and the two other brothers roving together elsewhere, eventually making to the Pridelands, finding their sister and their niece, apologizing to Simba, Timon, and Pumbaa, and redeeming themselves. Their names are also what they call each other, though they also have given their sister the nickname 'Bolt' and Fuli their niece 'Zip'.

Next up on the list and one of the new ones I had no idea about till recently(at least hopefully unless the new Mufasa movie ruins my lists) is a male cheetah from the TLG comic "Team Play". A vain fellow, his desperation for fame caused him to rush into danger in trying to prove himself in front of the Lion Guard, though he is capable of some humility when they help save him and the baby antelope they were originally there for, and Fuli offers to teach and practice with him. He's one of the kids of the local cheetahs, his name's Dakika(moment).

And lastly, we have two cheetahs I also found out about recently, this time from the comic "Spots and Stripes": Kibaya(arrow-Hausa) and Jiro(electricity). The two are hunting a herd of zebras, when the herd suddenly flees. They mistake a stripe-painted Simba for a zebra, though after realizing that he and Nala are lions they still plan on making a meal out of them. Zebby the zebra and his herd cause a small landslide to run off the two, and the two are never seen again. In my verse these two are bachelor group that just happen to go through the Pridelands. Of course they were never welcomed again after Simba told his father what had occurred that day, since they were not only hunting the young son of the land's rulers, but also in a restricted hunting area.

Childe had to admit, Mondstadt was a beautiful town. It was small, easy going. There didn't seem to be much trouble outside of a few monsters which were more like impudent flies than any real threat. Though there was also the towns distrust and annoyance at the Snezhnayans and Fatui present, which he hadn't really done much to help with when the word spread like wild fire another Harbinger had set foot on this land.

Though as pretty as the scenery was, he was sure he would grow bored of it eventually. Perhaps if he were old and grey he'd see the charm, but his youth and desperate need for a challenge almost made him believe that a day like that would never come. Which lead him down a path of wondering if he would ever grow old. Would his insatiable hunger for more, the fuel on which he thrives, also be the same thing he drowns in? What was that saying? 'The brightest stars burn fastest'.

Childe allowed himself to enjoy the touch of the sun that shone through the leaves and branches above on his freckled face. Content for this moment of still bliss with the person he cherished so deeply that words were not enough. And all the thoughts of whether retirement was an option for someone like him (who carried the Abyss and the will of the Tsarista in his blood) and what the alternative would be and how he truly believed, in his stubbornness, not even death could stop him from his desires all lead to the conclusion there would come a day in his life he would lay eyes upon his traveller for the last time.

No. He refused to accept a fate like that.

I will find you in every life time.

The words had spilled from his lips as quickly as the thought had come to mind. Lightless eyes observed his company and the way her hues like liquid gold became another kind of beautiful in the soft sun light. He smiled, "absolutely." A threat, a promise, he wouldn't speak his words if he didn't mean them. It was all the same to him. A truth.

He never knew how much he liked having his hair played with until the travller would do so in these moments of peace they shared, the gesture a kind touch that he was not familiar with. Like the words from her soft lips. Seeped in hope and just enough meaning that he could almost believe it. She was right here... but for how much longer? Childe found her gloved hand and held it in his, delicately lacing their fingers together. He'd known from the beginning their time was short. If asked about the future he could comfortably say he knew what he wanted and who he wanted to have that with. However, despite all his strength and will and power, deep down he knew he was as at the mercy of time as anyone else. He was human after all.

And she had her own goals. Goals that very may well not see a future with him in it.

Childe grabbed her by the waist, pulling her in closer just to roll them a few times over on the grass uncaring for how that might ruin their clothes or hair. He stopped, laying on top of her, his shadow casting down over her. She was beautiful, as true and simple a fact as the soft grass and warm gentle breeze that surrounded them. There were few things that left him at a loss for words. Lumine was certainly one of them.
