ᴀʀɪᴇꜱ ᴀꜱᴄᴇɴᴅᴀɴᴛ ʙᴇᴀᴜᴛʏ
RIHANNA, NIKKI REED, BILLIE EILISH AND KENDALL JENNER.
♇ aries ascendant beauty involves them having long heads, or a diamond head-shape, but they usually have a really nice side-profile. they're usually people who have slanted eyes, or sanpaku eyes, [there could be another proper word for it?], though i noticed that they have a large space of whites under their eyes, specifically rihanna, billie and kendall.
♇ their lower face is sharp, and smaller/thinner than their upper-face. they're women who can suit dark hair, and they naturally have dark and sharp eyebrows. most of the times, their eyebrows are straight. they have a thin nose bridge, and a long mid-face, full and distinct cheekbones along with full lips and an apparent cupids bow.
♇ they have a clear redness on their faces, specifically cheeks, like a natural blush. a pointy chin and foreheads that could be considered as large, or in a "nicer" term, a broad forehead.
ᴛᴀᴜʀᴜꜱ ᴀꜱᴄᴇɴᴅᴀɴᴛ ʙᴇᴀᴜᴛʏ
MILEY CYRUS, PHOEBE TONKIN, GIGI HADID AND MEGAN THEE STALLION.
♇ taurus ascendants have small heads and very strong cheek-bones, if it doesnt show naturally, it shows a lot when they smile. they tend to have full lips, but the lower lip is usually bigger than the upper lip. the tip of their nose is usually bulbous, i believe taurus rules the nose, if i am correct, especially because it rules the cow! <3
♇ they usually have very arched eyebrows, known as the venusian arch. compared to the aries ascendant, taurus ascendants usually have a wider nose bridge, and a short mid-face.
♇ their eyes could be considered as mesmerising and intense as their stare is usually very strong. their cheek bones are low, it gives them an apple shaped face. while doing my research, i noticed that most of them have wide lips and square heads, but it suits them really well.
ɢᴇᴍɪɴɪ ᴀꜱᴄᴇɴᴅᴀɴᴛ ʙᴇᴀᴜᴛʏ
LADY GAGA, AMY WINEHOUSE, MADISON BEER AND KRISTEN STEWART.
♇ gemini ascendants usually have a pale undertone, and their lips are usually naturally thin and very straight [also wide] with their upper lip being sharp, it could be deemed that they have a strong cupid's bow as well. the tip of their nose are usually distinct, whether it be big, bulbous, something about it would just stick out.
♇ they look good while wearing winged-eyeliner, and gemini ascendant people are usually individuals who have a long mid-face, and i've noticed that their face tends to stick out and can be very long but circular. one thing i noticed about gemini ascendants, specifically those who have strong mercurial placements, [specifically gemini] they tend to have a long edge at the side of their lips, it reminds me of joker lips since how wide it can be.
♇ their lips are usually very pink and they have slender necks. their eyes are usually colourful or could be considered as very pale. their beauty involves them having square foreheads/or a squared upper head. and if their heads arent oval, they tend to be very structured.
ᴄᴀɴᴄᴇʀ ᴀꜱᴄᴇɴᴅᴀɴᴛ ʙᴇᴀᴜᴛʏ
♇ cancer ascendant beauty involves them having big and beautiful smiles, the tail of their eyebrows tend to be long, while the front of their eyebrows are short. as expected, they have the crescent moon face touch, so sometimes their face could be unsymmetrical, specifically the lower jaw, [unsymmetrical does not mean not beautiful].
♇ their nose tip usually are wide, and their eyes are bright, usually looks like its glistening. their upper lip tend to be smaller than their lower lip, and they have full cheekbones and meaty chins. most of the cancer ascendants i have met have clear skins or it could have a lot of freckles or moles.
♇ cancer ascendants usually have strong but soft features, it stands out, especially when they turn to the side. and i noticed they usually have long noses.
ʟᴇᴏ ᴀꜱᴄᴇɴᴅᴀɴᴛ ʙᴇᴀᴜᴛʏ
MARILYN MONROE, VANESSA HUDGENS, BLAKE LIVELY AND JESSICA ALBA.
♇ very mesmerising beauty here, leo ascendants do well when they have bright coloured hair, specifically golden/blonde, they also have a bronze/golden undertone. their beauty also involves them having a heart shaped mouth and a long nose bridge.
♇ they're normally short women and have a square or rectangular face, and their chins are usually flat or wide, or both. most leo ascendants have feline eyes and full eyelashes. their beauty contains them having prominent smile lines and nice shoulders.
♇ as they have good posture, leo ascendant beauty includes them having a square fore-head and rosy cheeks. they normally have straight or nice teeth, usually because of virgo being in their second house.
ᴠɪʀɢᴏ ᴀꜱᴄᴇɴᴅᴀɴᴛ ʙᴇᴀᴜᴛʏ
LADAN FARAH, BELLA HADID, MILLIE BOBBY BROWN AND BROOKE SHIELDS.
♇ they sure do love their side profiles! virgo ascendant beauty includes them having pointy chins, sometimes it goes forwards, they have a prominent nose, could sometimes be seen as a "beak nose" as it's usually thin, very structured or bony. their upper face is square and their lips are usually wide.
♇ virgo ascendant beauty involves hem having a thin/narrow face, either doe eyes or feline eyes, either way, their eyes are usually big. they have arched eyebrows and usually a clean look, a structured jaw and sometimes a micro chin.
♇ noted that virgo ascendants usually have a dimple somewhere on their face, specifically their cheek or on their chin. and their figures are very thin most of the time, or they can appear as frail.
ʟɪʙʀᴀ ᴀꜱᴄᴇɴᴅᴀɴᴛ ʙᴇᴀᴜᴛʏ
BEYONCE, ANNA NICOLE SMITH, DOJA CAT, ZOE KRAVITZ.
♇ i noticed a lot of them have a light undertone, much libra ascendant beauty involves them having an oval face, [but as libra ascendant is a light essence, their other placements can over take, like anna nicole smith's sagittarius sun making her face more chiselled]. they have a lot of beauty moles and have a glow to them, it could be that hera touch.
♇ a thin nose bridge, very pink lips, and lips that could be considered as pouty. usually like to wear light/earthy coloured clothes, and have short foreheads, or foreheads that are medium sized. like to go for the light coloured hair styles.
♇ as they have a short lower face, their bodies can come off as very relaxed, with them having strong stares, they sometimes appear like they have superior looks. they usually wear much accessories.
ꜱᴄᴏʀᴘɪᴏ ᴀꜱᴄᴇɴᴅᴀɴᴛ ʙᴇᴀᴜᴛʏ
LANA DEL REY, LILY ROSE, EVA LONGORIA AND JANET JACKSON.
♇ scorpio ascendant beauty is them having dark attractive brows, strong cheek bones and a smaller upper lip. they have owl faces, they sometimes bring their faces forward like one, especially with them having slender necks, them looking like an owl intensifies.
♇ their jaw, chiefly the side of their jaws could be long, and their beauty includes eyes that twinkles, chins that are flat, and a low mid face, it makes them look like baby dolls.
♇ could be into having really dark or light hair, but the light hair are usually with scorpio moons. their beauty involves them having curly/wavy hair, and a full face that is still structured. or you can say chiselled. they could have similar thin noses to virgo risings, but it is not as bony looking.
ꜱᴀɢɪᴛᴛᴀʀɪᴜꜱ ᴀꜱᴄᴇɴᴅᴀɴᴛ ʙᴇᴀᴜᴛʏ
KIM KARDASHIAN, PARIS HILTON, ADRIANA LIMA AND JESSICA ALEXANDER.
♇ their big sultry eyes is apart of their allure, their eyes come off as darty, and sometimes they can be the hardest ascendant to tell, appearance wise. they're people who do well with nude colours, and when it comes to their lips, their lower lip appears to be larger than their upper lip.
♇ with high cheekbones, they sometimes tend to pucker their lips a lot, which is funny because it gives the horse face structure, [im a sagittarius ascendant]. their beauty is their long noses with a buttoned tip, their nose bridges could be thin but as the nose goes lower, it can be very wide in comparison to the nose bridge.
♇ they usually have straight eyebrows, long but square faces, and heavy eye make up compliments them well. sagittarius ascendants beauty involves them having big gummy smiles and having this elf/fairy essence.
ᴄᴀᴘʀɪᴄᴏʀɴ ᴀꜱᴄᴇɴᴅᴀɴᴛ ʙᴇᴀᴜᴛʏ
KYLIE JENNER, AISHWARYA RAI, ARIANA GRANDE AND MEGAN FOX.
♇ capricorn ascendant beauty has them mostly having short and square faces, doe eyes and eyes that are a light shade, with it being paired with having strong noses, they come off as daring and sultry. their eyebrows are usually arched, almost horn-like. most capricorn ascendants have very light pink coloured lips.
♇ they tend to have a small but pointy chin, somewhat like their sister sign, cancer. capricorn ascendant beauty involves them having most of their features in the middle, and they can sometimes appear like they're fragile, example, ariana grande. with the other capricorn ascendant people i've done research on, they usually tend to do surgery.
♇ their beauty involves them having almond shaped eyes and full eye-lashes, like dolls. they remind me of blythe dolls. most of them have this cold beauty, a type of essence that makes them appear like they're hard to reach, muted colours look good on them as well. and i've noticed they have dimples.
ᴀQᴜᴀʀɪᴜꜱ ᴀꜱᴄᴇɴᴅᴀɴᴛ ʙᴇᴀᴜᴛʏ
GABRIETTE, ZENDAYA, AURDREY HEPBURN AND AALIYAH.
♇ tim burton kind of beauty, have a specific hairstyle, and like the sign they share the same planet with, capricorn, aquarius ascendants have square heads. compared to other aquarius placements, aquarius ascendants are least likely going to have alien shaped heads in my opinion. on the other hand, their beauty involves them having a ghostly or classic type of beauty.
♇ they have pretty hands, could be the aries in the third house, and are likely interest in thin brows, or could be into styling them. overall, the eyebrows are distinct. they tend to have a big sized nose, and when it comes to their eye shapes, they are usually slender and kind of downturned, or it looks sleepy. red lipstick looks good on them.
♇ tend to have a dimple in their chin, and have sad eyes, the tip of their noses are sometimes downturned. and they have low cheekbones which adds onto their ghostly/ghastly look.
ᴘɪꜱᴄᴇꜱ ᴀꜱᴄᴇɴᴅᴀɴᴛ ʙᴇᴀᴜᴛʏ
BARBARA PALVIN, ROSÉ, JENNA ORTEGA AND SABRINA CARPENTER.
♇ they look like both baby cows but fishes at the same time, specifically the female fish from fishtales, their cheeks are usually full and puffy, and their beauty involves them having very blue eyes, if not blue, it appears as very watery. when i was looking at pictures of them, most of them had their mouths open...it's a cute fish thing.
♇ they have diamond heads and sharp chins, their beauty involves them having short eyebrows, and tend to have a surprised but focused look. they look good in many colours, but specifically pink.
♇ pisces ascendants tend to have chiselled faces, and big eyes and small figures, if not by the help by other planets. women who are pisces ascendants tend to be midgets, but its a cute look on them.

I’m surprised that there wasn’t an episode where Kotetsu and Barnaby had to wear their crapsuits for a day BECAUSE THAT WOULD’VE BEEN AMAZING! Of course I took the oppurtunity to have them do the iconic pose from Futari wa Precure.
Even though I’m sure Barnaby didn’t agree to this haha.
LOOK AT HOW RED HE IS 🤣🤣

OMG I LOVE THIS 🤣🤣🤣
Poor baby when he just gave up and said "I didn't fuck Brooke Sheilds 🤣🤣😭 that cracked me up
And a Gomez Addams moustache??? 🤣
How could she not melt at his puppy eyes though!
Title: Sleep Just To Dream
Pairing: Jim Gordon/Reader
Rating: PG13 (language, crime scene and dark humor)
Summary: Sometimes your dreams were so vivid that they would affect your mood even after you were awake. After you dream of catching Jim in a compromised situation, you have a hard time letting go of the jealousy that follows.
Notes: This is meant to be a fluffy comedy, and was once again, an idea I woke up with.
Warning: none, but I guess a dark sense of humor since I'm joking about infidelity? Yeah, idk
A sharp intake of air was what woke you, the alarm just also happened to be going off, but it was the contents of your dream that had jolted you awake. Your brows knitted and you slowly turned in Jim’s arms as he too roused from sleep. When his eyes fell on you, a smile came to his lips while he rubbed his hand over his face.
“Good morning, sweetheart,” he said, the last word nearly swallowed by a yawn.
He had greeted you the same way every morning for a year, and usually it made you smile at the cozy feeling it left you with. But that morning, you may as well not have heard it.
“You fucked Brooke Shields?” you asked him pointedly.
His brows mirrored your own as he looked back at you. “I’ve never even met Brooke Shields.”
“I saw you!” you insisted.
“Honey, I think maybe you were just dreaming,” he said, reaching for his glasses on the nightstand and putting them on.
“Well, yeah, but that doesn’t mean it wasn’t real!”
Tilting his head as his eyes narrowed, Jim tried to suppress a chuckle. It didn’t happen terribly often, but sometimes you would wake up with a vivid memory of your dreams throughout the night. Usually they were just wacky enough for you to easily dismiss their contents, but other times you would carry over the reactions your dreamself had into the real world.
“It’s not funny, Jim,” you mumbled sadly, moving for the first time to get up and shut the alarm off.
“Oh, baby, come on,” he replied, whipping the covers off of him as he got out of bed. “Don’t be sad, it wasn’t real. It was only a dream.”
But you hadn’t heard him, still holding tight to the images you had seen before you’d opened your eyes that morning. “Why would you do that?”
He sighed behind you as you went into the bathroom and turned on the shower, pouting to yourself. Logically, you knew it was only a dream, but it had felt so real in the moment, and it was still vivid in your memory of it. You, getting home early, excited to spend the night with Jim, eating dinner together and snuggling by the fireplace. Only to find him in the kitchen, balls-deep in Brooke Shields. Dream-Jim had been surprised to see you home so early while Dream-Brooke bit her bottom lip to keep from smiling, moving much slower than Dream-Jim, who was pulling up his pants as quickly as he could. The fact that the kitchen was suddenly hot pink from floor to ceiling and that Jim’s mustache was more Gomez Addams than the Jim Gordon you knew didn’t even register. All you could see was your boyfriend with another woman.
It sounded beyond ridiculous. Not only because the most famous person you had ever known Jim to be acquainted with was Bruce Wayne, but also because you knew beyond the shadow of a doubt that Jim would never be unfaithful, to you or anyone really. So then why couldn’t you let this go? Why were you still allowing the image of his bare ass rutting between Brooke’s legs, kissing her neck, saying things to her that he only said to you to linger in your mind?
You stepped into the shower and let the water run over your head, hoping it would wash away the horrible feeling. Jim came into the bathroom from the corner of your eye, tentatively opening the shower door and peering inside.
“I did not fuck Brooke Shields,” he said.
You reached for the shampoo. “I know but you did.”
“Baby, it was just a bad dream, I would never do that to you.”
“I know that too.” You lathered your head, shifting your eyes away from him.
“Can I come in?” he asked, giving you his always effective puppy-dog eyes.
You bobbed your shoulders before rinsing the shampoo out of your hair. “Okay.”
“Didn’t you dream about Sean Connery not too long ago?” he asked, pulling off his clothes and stepping into the shower with you. “I didn’t get upset at that, I know it was only a dream.”
“That was different,” you replied. “I dreamt that we were on a mission together and he was hitting on me. I didn’t dream he was plowing me next to the stove.”
“Next to the stove?!” he asked in surprise.
“While you pan seared steaks no less.”
“Well, that’s just an accident waiting to happen.” He stepped under the water to wet his hair before picking up the shampoo.
“And why did you paint our kitchen pink?”
He grimaced. “You know I hate pink.”
“Oh, was that Brooke’s idea?”
“Yeah, it was likely her idea.”
You turned to look at him, and it seemed he could no longer contain his laughter. Grabbing the bar of soap, you began washing yourself.
“I’m glad it’s so amusing to you.”
“Oh Y/N, come on,” he groaned, a smile still on his face, rinsing his hair before he pulled you against him. “You’re being ridiculous. I would never fuck Brooke Shields.”
You tilted your head, eyes narrowing slightly. Despite your jealousy at that moment, even you could concede that Brooke Shields was objectively hot.
He must’ve reconsidered his statement, because he said, “Okay, fine, yes, she’s beautiful but I didn’t fuck Brooke Shields, and isn’t that the more important fact?”
“But you would,” you said.
“No, I wouldn’t, I’m with you,” he answered without hesitation.
Sighing softly, you nodded and rinsed off, stepping out of the shower to grab a towel.
“Y/N —”
“It’s fine, Jim, you didn’t fuck Brooke Shields. I get it,” you replied, walking out of the bathroom. You heard him mutter, “For fuck’s sake” under his breath. You knew you were being ridiculous, but the jealous wave that had come over you upon seeing your boyfriend in the arms of a gorgeous, six-foot supermodel who had been named one of People’s most beautiful people in the world three times — even if only in a dream — had soured your morning before it had even begun.
You tried to let it go and managed to get through breakfast and the drive to the precinct without mentioning Brooke or the dream you'd had. It wasn’t until you were at a crime scene later that morning that it came up again.
“Vic is Jerolyn Hines, twenty-four years old, lives alone. Looks like she took a nosedive from the roof,” Flass said as you and Stephens walked up from having looked in the victim’s apartment and canvassed her neighbors. “No prints, no witnesses.”
Jim sighed heavily and looked from Flass to the two of you. “Tell me you got more than we did.”
“Just that she’s been a bit jumpy lately,” Stephens answered. “No suicide note, but there may have been a struggle in that apartment. We got some samples of blood and spit just off the kitchen. Oh, and she just started doing runway work for Marcia Van Reese.”
“The fashion designer?” Jim asked.
“Yeah, she spotted our vic at a cafe off of twenty-third street. Apparently she’s known for finding talent in unusual places. Jerolyn’s been acting since she was a kid, mostly soap commercials and print ads.”
“Like Brooke Shields,” you said.
Jim narrowed his eyes at you as Stephens continued, “Anyway, we think maybe Van Reese recognized her from her previous work, offered her a job in her new runway show.”
“What about boyfriends?” Jim asked.
“Neighbor across the hall said she just started seeing a guy last month, but he hasn’t been around for at least a couple of weeks,” you answered. “She had a message on her machine from him. He’s in Paris till tomorrow.”
Letting out another sigh, Jim nodded. “Alright. Finish up here. Flass, get those samples to the lab as soon as you can. Who’s alerting next of kin?”
The three of you lowered your eyes. Notifying family members of their loved one’s death was always one of the worst parts of the job, one that none of you wanted to volunteer for.
“Y/L/N, you and me.” Jim looked at the other two detectives. “We’ll see you two back at the precinct.”
Stephens nodded dutifully. “You got it, Sarge.”
Gesturing with his head for you to follow him, Jim walked toward his car. It wasn’t until you were both inside that he spoke as he turned on the ignition. “Have you still not let go of that dream?”
“I just don’t understand why dream-you would do that,” you said with a bob of your shoulders.
“Because dream-me is clearly an idiot,” he answered. “Have you looked in the mirror lately, baby? You are way more beautiful than Brooke Shields.”
“Don’t patronize me, Gordon,” you replied, shaking your head.
“I’m not!” Glancing at you as he drove, he reached over and took your hand. “What do I need to do to prove to you that you have nothing to be jealous about?”
“I am not jealous,” you said. You knew it was a lie, but you felt foolish being jealous of a woman neither of you had ever met, and who you had only seen in a dream.
“Oh really?” he asked, a smirk causing his mustache to twitch. “Because it seems that way to me.”
“Well, maybe I am, okay? It’s Brooke-fucking-Shields! Have you seen her?! She’s gorgeous!”
“You're gorgeous,” he replied. “Not to mention real.”
“She’s so tall.”
“I like how short you are.”
“She’s a supermodel.”
“Yeah, but I bet she can’t handle a glock like you.”
“She’s been the subject of just about every guy’s fantasies for years!”
“I was actually more of a Farrah Faucet guy in my younger days to tell you the truth,” he answered.
“Not helping!”
“Okay, Y/N, listen to me, you stubborn woman —”
“Stubborn woman with a gun, so tread lightly.”
He laughed, shaking his head. “You have nothing to be jealous about. I have never slept with Brooke Shields, nor have I ever wanted to. That guy in your dream, that wasn’t me.”
You thought for a moment, internalizing his words as your eyes landed on the way his fingers were perfectly slotted between yours. “He did have a really stupid Gomez Addams mustache.”
“See? It wasn’t me,” he replied.
“And who fucks next to a hot stove?”
“I’ll tell you who doesn’t,” he answered, pointing to himself with the thumb on the hand holding the steering wheel. “This guy.”
“Yeah,” you agreed. “You would literally never.”
“Of course not,” he said, pulling up to your destination. Reaching across his lap, he put the car in park, his other hand still holding yours. Bringing it up to his lips, he left a kiss on the back. “I love you so much, honey. I don’t care if it was you in a room with a hundred Brooke Shields, I’d pick you every single time. You know that, right?”
The familiar warmth that fell over you any time he expressed how he felt about you was a welcomed sensation, especially since you’d been lingering on your jealousy since you’d woken up. “Yeah, I know.”
Your eyes shifted to the townhouse across the street, where your victim’s parents lived, the warm feeling quickly dissipating.
“I hate this part of the job,” you mumbled.
“Me too,” he replied. “But we have to do it.”
“I know,” you said. “Hey…” You put a hand on his upper arm, holding him in the car a moment longer. “I’m sorry I was so weird this morning. Sometimes it just takes me a little bit to snap all the way out of a dream.”
“I know,” he replied, smiling at you. “I love how weird you are,” he said, leaning toward you to capture your lips in a brief kiss. “Keeps me on my toes.”
“Good, cause I don’t know how to fix it.”
“There’s nothing to fix,” he replied. “Come on, let’s get this over with. With any luck, we’ll get a lead from the lab.”
“God, I hope so, this is the third murder this week,” you replied. “I already have one other open case, I don’t want another.”
“Maybe after we get home later, we can spend some time together. Watch a movie, take our minds off everything.”
“Yeah, I’d like that.”
You started to unbuckle your seatbelt, as he did the same.
“What do you think? Blue Lagoon?” he teased.
You shook your head, hand on the handle to open your door. “Too soon.”

good luck, babe!
farah karim x original female character (part one)
warnings: vague harassment (not by farah or josie), weird comment by bad character calling farah “exotic”, being mean to alex because he gets in the way of the lesbian love story (sorry alex/farah stans i don’t know why you’re still here )
She never should’ve agreed to come to this stupid bar.
Farah shifted awkwardly, the cup of Sprite spilling ever so slightly onto her top. Her eyes tracked the scene. Typical; the Brits causing trouble in a Chicago bar. Gaz and Soap ganging up on college boys at the pool table, Price trying to flirt with a twenty something by the bathrooms, Ghost looking at his phone (for sure just the weather app) with his drink in hand. Alex was at the bar getting him and Farah refills. And there she sat, on a high barstool, regarding over the bar as though she owned it. Quiet scrutiny disguised as class radiated off of her, sort of giving off a “don’t touch me” sort of energy.
“Hey, pretty thing.”
Farah looked down and immediately rolled her eyes. A bland looking man, one that had clearly just been playing pool with Soap and Gaz, leered up at her, eyes directly level with her tits. Fuckin’ fantastic. Just what this mediocre night needed.
“Not interested.”
He moved on, unbothered. “I’m Beau. Beau Hunter.”
“That means nothing to me.”
“It could, though. Could change whatever exotic last name I’m sure you have, give you mine.”
Rage suddenly wafted off her. “You little-“
“Hunter! Third strike.”
Farah felt her mouth go dry at the sight of her knight in shining armor. A woman, 30ish. Brunette. Hair in two braids. A honeyed Midwestern accent tinged with venom. A lavender carabiner shaped like a heart jingled against her belt loop, heavy with multiple sets of keys.
Farah’s heart skipped a beat. That was new.
Beau- the prick- stepped back, face falling. “Josie. Didn’t realize you were workin’ tonight.”
The hero- Josie- shook her head, a slight scent of vanilla and cinnamon hitting Farah’s nose. “Well, no, but I’ve got express permission from Brooke to kick you out even if I’m off the clock. Your presence is making the bar unsafe for everyone. Time’s up, daddy’s money.”
Farah stifled a laugh as Beau pouted, slamming his drink down before storming out of the bar. Didn’t even pay for it, the dick.
That gaze focused itself on Farah then, moving in closer. Vanilla hit her nose again. “Sorry about him. He’s just an overgrown frat boy.” She held out her hand. “Josette, most people call me Josie or Jo. You haven’t earned my last name yet.”
Farah raised an eyebrow. “Earned it?”
Josie shrugged. “Why not add a little mystery into your trip? I’m assuming you’re not a local. Gonna make you work for it, a little bit.”
Farah laughed, surprising herself. “Farah, then. Farah Karim.”
“No mystery for you?”
“Deal with that enough in my job.”
Josie raised an eyebrow. She had a septum ring, Farah noticed. It looked good on her. “I’m assuming you can’t tell me, otherwise you’ll have to kill me, so I’ll let it slide. This your first time in Chicago?”
Farah shook her head. Maybe being around drunk people helped you feel drunk too, because her head was swimming. “Haven’t gotten much of a chance to explore the city. I love this neighborhood.”
“I’ve lived here my whole life. It’s probably my favorite place on Earth.” Josie held eye contact for a few more seconds before looking over at the bar, where Price seemed to have succeeded in his flirtations. He was passionately kissing the young girl, his hand sliding up her shirt. Josie and Farah both winced at the sight.
Farah groaned. “Sorry. My colleague seems to have forgotten that other people can see him.”
“It’s not your fault.” Josie sighed, crossing her arms over her ample chest. Farah tried not to let her eyes linger on the cleavage amplified by that one simple motion. What was going on with her? “I’m not on the clock, neither are you. It’s frankly none of our business if your boss is feeling up a teenybopper.”
Farah barked out a laugh. “You’ve got a way with words, for sure.”
“I just tell it like it is, sweetheart.”
Farah instantly felt blood rush to her face, blinking rapidly. There was a funny feeling in her chest, like a glitter bomb exploded or someone had shaken up a soda bottle.
“Oh, hey, Farah. I’m sorry, I got caught up talking with the bartender.” Alex touched her arm gently. Alex. She noticed a flash of disappointment in Josie’s eyes and immediately wanted to throttle him.
“Alex. Hey.” Farah took a sip of her drink, then gestured towards Josie. “This is Josie. You’ve gotta earn the right to know her last name.”
Josie recovered quickly, plastering on a smile. “Nice to meet you.”
Alex smiled, ever polite. “You too.” He turned to Farah then. “You ready to go?”
She nodded, eyes flickering back to Josie. “I’ll be ready in a second. Meet you outside.”
“Okay.” Alex pecked her cheek before turning away. Farah felt herself cringe on the inside. She took a deep breath before turning back to Josie.
“I’d love to get your number, so we could hang out when I’m in Chicago. I’m around too much testosterone as it is.”
Josie smiled. It seemed a bit forced. “I’ll give you my number.”

19 for Lucas and Adam? For the kiss writing meme!
Ask for a Kiss!
Thank you nonny!!! I love any excuse to write about these boys.
***
“Get back! Luke!”
Those words in Adam’s voice echo through his mind as he crashes beneath the surface of the icy lake. Cold steals his senses entirely, leaving him paralyzed and unseeing as he sinks. Still, he hears Adam’s voice.
Luke.
A rare treat, to have Adam use the name only his closest friends call him by. As rare as seeing the dimples that Lucas has found himself addicted to drawing out of the usually stoic man. His heart thumps, drawing up a memory of the last time he’d seen them. He’d been trying to run a training session with Lucas, teaching him to fight properly. A pretty fruitless endeavor, but when Lucas had managed to trip Adam up with an outstretched leg, his reward had been a barking laugh and Adam’s cheek dimpling adorably. He hopes he gets to see that again. Can’t do that if he dies here.
Jerking, Lucas tries to right himself in the water. Fuck, it’s cold. Really cold. It’s not his first time going under ice, and he’s a better swimmer now than he was then. The main problem is that it's so dark and his vision so blurry he can’t figure out where he fell in. The last thing he wants is to swim up only to bash his head against ice.
He might not have a choice. As he looks up more and more frantically to try and find an air hole, his vision blurs and panic starts to take hold.
At just that moment, something moves above him, a figure approaching. Even if he can’t see it well, Lucas just knows who it is and kicks towards him. Adam comes into view, snatching Lucas by the lapels and dragging him in. Their faces bash together painfully before Adam grips Lucas by the jaw, locks their mouths together, and then blows hard. Lucas’ lungs fill with air, immediately untangling the fear digging into his spine.
He doesn’t get a second to recover, he’s immediately grabbed and hauled up. Lucas tries to loosen Adam’s grip on him, knowing he can swim just fine on his own now, but Adam is unrelenting. Shocker. Admittedly, Adam is swimming at a far faster pace than Lucas can manage at the moment, so he doesn’t fight it much. He even kicks along with him, for all the good it will do.
They break the surface just in time for Lucas’ lungful of borrowed air to expire, and the first thing he does upon sucking in an icy breath is to yelp, “Jesus fuck.”
“No kidding!” Farah says from just a foot or so away. She’s on her belly, amber eyes shining with worry. “Now come here. I’m going to tow you back.”
“So fucking cold,” Lucas grumbles, allowing himself to be shoved and tugged until he’s on the surface of the lake’s icy crust. He works with Farah to wiggle across, until they’re close enough to shore that Nat and Mason can snag them and haul them over. Naturally, Adam just busts the ice apart with his fists as he swims, then drags himself out.
“Didja get the—” Lucas starts to ask. Mason stops him by holding up the artifact they were after before Lucas fell in. “Sick. Better be worth it.”
“Well, you’re not dead yet, so probably worth it,” Mason says. Nat throws him a look that he immediately pretends not to notice. Lucas laughs, even if it hurts.
“Yet is correct,” Adam says, though his teeth are chattering so badly it’s hard to hear. Nat hurries to throw his coat on over his shoulders, but Adam shakes it off and moves to tug it around Lucas instead. “We need to dry you off and warm you up, now.”
“Sure,” Lucas says with a shrug. Farah peers all the way up at him, brows furrowed.
“What’s with your nose?” Farah asks. She reaches up to tap the bridge of Lucas’ nose, making him hiss and recoil at the sudden flash of pain.
“Shit.” He gingerly tries to feel if it’s crooked. “Adam, if your little stunt broke my nose—”
“You’re welcome,” Adam replies dryly, then in a tone that brooks no argument, he adds, “Get in the car.”
Lucas stomps wetly over to the SUV, Nat and Mason helping him to weave less than he would without them on either side of him. He complains loudly about his face being ruined, doing his best to not ruminate on whether that’s the only kind of kiss he’ll get out of Adam from now on.

AN:
This post is formatted a bit differently from my other posts because I wanted it to be a bit easier to read without having change everything.
As always I hope this helps fanfic writers as well as other members of the fandom with wanting their OCs to be connected back to our favourite main characters.

Eddie hasn't answered the phone in nearly two days which, post Chrissy, post Vecna, post end of the world (averted), post every thing, is a wholly unacceptable amount of time.
Steve does a round robin on the walkie; everyone suddenly realizes they haven't heard from him either. Steve volunteers to go over.
He raps on the front door of the little two bed place Wayne owns now, a little government recompense after they took the trailer away to study, or whatever. Also quite a bit of 'take the house and keep your mouth shut,' kind of thing, Steve figures.
Wayne looks tired when he opens the door, kinda droopy, which Steve knows means he's really tired. Like, holding form is becoming a smidge difficult kind of tired.
Steve slips in fast, 'sorry Wayne, Eddie's van wasn't at his place so I figured he was here,' which he must be, because Eddie's van is here, and not outside his shiny new trailer, 'he hasn't been answering the phone.'
'He's here kid but he's kind of...having a rest day?' Wayne hedges. He's bad at lying, just like Eddie, Steve knows something is up.
'Can I see him, just for a second? Just check all is good?' Wayne gets Steve's protective nature, after everything that happened, he knows Steve likes to look after his people. He also knows Steve can keep a secret, only Steve and Robin know about Eddie and Wayne's shape shifting ability - carrying Eddie out of the upside down, convinced Eddie was about to die, only to have Eddie's glittery insides do something wholly unexpected was...well, Steve knows, is the thing.
Eddie also wins at doing impressions, since he can actually turn into movie stars, and that's kind of cool. Steve always likes watching Eddie turn back into himself though, maybe because of the crush he's been nursing.
Wayne caves, and Steve knows it's bad when he finds Eddie in the bin. He's shimmery and silver, and nearly tipping out the edges. He sloshes a little when Steve walks in, 'hey man, you didn't even make it to the bath? You want me to tip you out?'
Nothing, but the overhang wave of Eddie goo turns, hanging over the far lip of the big trash can. Like Eddie just turned his back.
'Uhm. I just. I just wanted to check you were okay? You know? Everyone's kind of worried.'
Eddie ripples. Like a sigh.
Eddie sloshes out of the bucket, his form building upwards until Steve is standing in front of...Nancy? Wearing a torn Dio shirt and plaid sleep pants.
'Eddie...that's kind of weird man.'
'I know!'. He waves Nancy's arms around, ' I know okay! But I can't stop it!'
'What...you're stuck? As Nancy.'
'Kinda', Eddie hedges, his ability to lie as bad as Wayne's.
'What does that mean?'
Eddie huffs, and shifts again...into Farah Fawcett. He crosses her arms over his now ample chest.
'Eddie...what is going on?'
Eddie shifts again, the hot brunette from the horror movie they watched two weeks ago, Steve can't remember the actresses name. He remembers saying she's hot though.
'Steve just...I'm having some kind of crisis, okay. It's just a bit of a...block. Just give me a few days and I'll be right as rain.'. Heather Locklear explains.
'Eddie...come on man, there's clearly something up.'
'This is so embarrassing.'
'Just tell me, okay? It can't be anything that bad, I won't judge.'
'It can be that bad,' Michelle Pfeiffer whines from behind her hands.
'Eddie...I'm not leaving until you spill.'
'I really...like you...' which, coming from Olivia Netwon-John, probably fulfils some sort of fantasy for Steve, but he has to remind himself he's thrilled to hear it from Eddie, too. 'So now I'm stuck, trying to be someone you actually want.'
'I...oh.'
'Yeah.'
'Well, I really want Eddie. So does that fix it?'
Brooke Shields cocks her hip and rolls her eyes, 'Steve, I'm not doing this on purpose, I don't have any control right now, so I don't need an empty platitude-'
'Its not. I've had a crush on you for ages. I'm not going to kiss you when you look like someone whose not Eddie.'
Eddie slowly melts back into himself, 'you're not?' he asks weakly.
'Nope, I can now though-'
'I'm back!!!' Eddie runs his hands all over himself, disappearing into the bathroom, checking the mirror he shouts, 'it's me! I'm me again! Oh thank fuck! Do you know how stressful that was! Having big tits is hell on your back-'
Eddie rambles, and Steve waits patiently for him to remember they could be making out right now.
Your friend, a shapeshifter (a secret you've kept since childhood) hasn't answered your texts in days, so you head to their home. Upon arriving, you find that they're in the middle of an existential crisis; they can't remember how to turn back into their original, human form.

FANTASTIC ✨
So back in July, I watched Tiger and Bunny on Netflix and let me say. I haven’t been that obsessed with an anime for a very long time! I decided to redraw the cover for Wham’s album Fantastic with our favorite dynamic duo. It was a heck of a time trying to draw both Barnaby and Kotetsu’s hair istg.
Also, have some bonus T&B drawings (mostly Barnaby lmao)

Thirteen former Trump administration officials released an open letter on Friday amplifying warnings from John F. Kelly, Donald J. Trump’s longest-serving White House chief of staff, that the former president would rule like a dictator if he returned to office.
The former officials wrote that they were shocked but “not surprised” after Mr. Kelly, a former Marine general, told The New York Times that Mr. Trump had said more than once that “Hitler did some good things” and had complained that U.S. generals were not sufficiently loyal to him.
“This is who Donald Trump is,” wrote the 13, all “lifelong Republicans,” according to the letter. “Donald Trump’s disdain for the American military and admiration for dictators like Hitler is rooted in his desire for absolute, unchecked power.”
The letter did not describe any of the former officials hearing Mr. Trump speaking glowingly of Hitler, the Nazi dictator who presided over the systematic slaughter of six million Jews and millions of others.
But the letter said its signers had “witnessed, up close and personal, how Donald Trump operates and what he is capable of.”
“The American people deserve a leader who won’t threaten to turn armed troops against them, won’t put his quest for power above their needs, and doesn’t idealize the likes of Adolf Hitler,” the letter said.
In his comments to The Times, Mr. Kelly described Mr. Trump’s appreciation of history as limited, and he recalled attempting to explain to the president why it was problematic to praise Hitler. Still, Mr. Kelly said, Mr. Trump continued to make positive comments about Hitler.
A spokesman for Mr. Trump’s campaign, Steven Cheung, accused Mr. Kelly of fabricating his account in a statement on Friday that also claimed that Mr. Kelly and the former Trump administration officials who signed the open letter were suffering from “Trump Derangement Syndrome.”
In this year’s election, Mr. Trump has described Democrats, some by name, as the “enemy from within” and has contemplated deploying the National Guard to address the threat he claims they could pose.
The letter, organized on Wednesday after Mr. Kelly’s comments were published in The Times on Tuesday, was signed by several outspoken Harris supporters, including two who gave speeches at the Democratic National Convention: Stephanie Grisham, a former Trump White House press secretary, and Olivia Troye, who was an adviser to Mr. Trump’s vice president, Mike Pence.
Other signers included Anthony Scaramucci, who had a memorable 10-day run as communications director in the Trump White House; Brooke Vosburgh Alexander, who was a top aide in the Commerce Department; Alyssa Farah Griffin, who served as Mr. Pence’s press secretary; Mark Harvey and Peter Jennison, who worked on the National Security Council; Sarah Matthews, a former deputy White House press secretary; and Robert Riley, who was the U.S. ambassador to Micronesia.
Three former Homeland Security Department officials also signed the letter: Kevin Carroll, Elizabeth Neumann and Sofia Kinzinger, who is married to former Representative Adam Kinzinger of Illinois, one of the most vocal Republican opponents of Mr. Trumpafter the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol.
“For the good of our country, our democracy, and our Constitution, we are asking you to listen closely and carefully to General Kelly’s warning,” they wrote.

AN EMPIRE DIVIDED! The Inside Story of How GE CEO Larry Culp Dismantled a 131-Year-Old American Giant.
— By Brooke Sutherland and Ryan Beene | March 20, 2024 | Businessweek | The Big Take
Big sheets of white paper line the perimeter of a meeting room at the General Electric Co. factory in Beavercreek, Ohio. Each sheet is scribbled on with markers and covered with neon Post-it notes outlining the steps needed to produce the tubes and ducts that will eventually be assembled into a jet engine.
The vibe is more elementary school science fair than American industrial icon. But the simplicity is the point. Determining the layout for the Beavercreek facility was tricky: The revamped plant opened last year, combining components of production that had previously been spread out across eight different sites. To figure out the best setup, plant leaders built a replica of furnaces, tube benders and welding booths out of cardboard boxes. That visual, along with the Post-it notes describing production steps such as “brazing,” “bending” and “trimming,” makes it easier to identify and root out manufacturing inefficiencies. The exercise also helps show visiting GE executives how the whole thing works.

About 250 managers from around the world have gathered here in the Cincinnati area, which will be the headquarters of GE Aerospace once the conglomerate completes its slow-moving breakup in early April. One stated goal of the executive retreat is to set a culture for the soon-to-be-standalone company. “Culture can’t be declared,” says Farah Borges, who oversees GE Aerospace’s assembly, test and maintenance operations. “You have to build it.” Some declaring is still apparently necessary, because the team spent the previous day at an event space a few miles away doing just that.
But under Chief Executive Officer Larry Culp, no leadership confab is complete without a gemba walk. Gemba in Japanese means “actual place,” as in the actual place where a product is made. It’s essentially a tour of operations with a heavy emphasis on Q&A with the factory staff. The practice is central to lean manufacturing, an influential operations philosophy developed by Toyota Motor Corp. that Culp has championed at GE.

Factory floor visits aren’t a radical idea for an industrial company, but GE didn’t always do them this way. The company used to place more emphasis on polishing a PowerPoint presentation than on drilling into the details of manufacturing workflows, says Russell Stokes, the head of commercial jet engines and services, who’s been at GE for more than 25 years. Somewhere between the wrong-way financial bets that blew up in the 2008 economic crisis and a huge, disastrous acquisition of energy assets from Alstom SA in 2015, GE, with its persistent mindset that anyone with an MBA could run any business, forgot that it’s a manufacturer at heart.
When Culp became CEO in 2018, GE was far too big and complicated for its own good, and the company’s businesses weren’t bringing in enough money to support its sky-high debts. “We were at risk of not making payroll, in a manner of speaking,” he says. He managed to pay down more than $100 billion of the debt through a series of well-timed divestitures. He dismantled GE Capital, its investment arm, largely untangling the company from a financial albatross. And then, in 2021, he announced that GE—the quintessential American conglomerate, which at one point or another sold washing machines, credit cards, plastic resins and TV advertising slots for NBC’s Super Bowl broadcasts—was breaking up. None of those efforts would’ve been as successful, and perhaps wouldn’t have even been possible, if Culp hadn’t tightened up GE’s operations and turned key businesses into stable, cash-generating entities that could stand on their own.
Today, GE’s stock is near a seven-year high. GE HealthCare Technologies Inc., which split off in 2023, is up about 50% from its debut. The final piece is the electric-grid, gas-power and wind-turbine business, which will become its own standalone company called GE Vernova on April 2.
In one sense, Culp is restoring GE to its original identity as a maker of stuff. But he’s also the guy dismantling a monument to American capitalism. From its inception as an outlet for Thomas Edison to commercialize the lightbulb through the era of rapid globalization embodied by Jack Welch, GE practically swallowed entire industries. It loaned planes to companies and money to real estate developers; for a time it even owned a large chunk of Dreyer’s Grand Ice Cream. Most of that is gone now. Culp divested the aircraft leasing arm, biopharmaceutical assets and the remnants of GE’s oil and gas operations and saw through sales of its locomotive and lightbulb units. Even the GE name is on loan. GE appliances are made and sold by China’s Haier Smart Home Co. The new GE will just be a manufacturer of jet engines, essentially, with a few random money pits left over from the old conglomerate, like insurance for elder care and a Polish mortgage business. “We constantly debated what the right structure was,” says Ed Garden, a GE board member since 2017. “But the first order of business was fixing the underlying businesses.”
On the gemba walk, Culp and his aerospace deputies stop to meet with the plant’s lean manufacturing leader, Cem Salahifar, who launches into an overview of the factory’s operations. He describes the facility’s transition from a single, giant furnace—known in manufacturing parlance as a monument—to a bunch of smaller ones spread out around the factory floor. This eliminates the need for employees to shuttle components back and forth and stand around waiting for the heating process to complete. Turnaround times for this part of the production process dropped to 30 minutes from four hours. Culp interjects: The team should appreciate how meaningful this change was, he says, for improving efficiency. He then asks them to find ways to rethink the monuments in their own factories. “We like to tear down monuments,” Culp says.
General Electric Through the Years
The historic American company amassed a sprawling portfolio that at one time or another included locomotives, washing machines, insurance, lightbulbs, MRI machines, credit cards, real estate and the television network NBC.
To be CEO of GE is to be compared with the late Jack Welch. For most of his two-decade reign, Welch made the company bigger, more valuable and more profitable. But the sun began to set on the age of the conglomerate by the time he retired in 2001, and soon other industrial giants were breaking up. Post-Welch CEOs at GE found themselves trying to explain why it made sense to be big for the sake of being big. Jeff Immelt, Welch’s handpicked successor, talked up the benefits of the “GE Store,” a shared repository of technological tools that the whole company could pull off the shelf. In reality, there was no good reason why one company needed to sell MRI machines, jet engines and wind turbines. Even worse, GE’s voluminous sprawl left too many places for problems to hide.

One of the biggest problems was GE Capital, which helped fuel stock growth during the Welch years but proved to be a time bomb. GE had loaded up on debt to support its ventures in corporate lending, real estate, credit cards, mortgages and insurance. When the economic crisis arrived in 2008, GE Capital had more than $500 billion in assets and almost as much debt, which made it the largest financial company in the US that wasn’t technically a bank. As customers worldwide defaulted on loan payments and investors lost their appetite for risk, GE turned to Warren Buffett and the federal government for financial support. Immelt cut GE’s dividend for the first time since the Great Depression. He later sold off huge chunks of GE Capital, but it continued to haunt his successor, John Flannery, who in 2018 disclosed a $15 billion hole in a long-term-care insurance business Immelt had been unable to fully get rid of. The timing couldn’t have been worse: Flannery had cut the dividend two months earlier, to some shareholders’ dismay, and with the gas-power business in a slump and fewer GE Capital assets, there just wasn’t enough money from its operations to keep handing out such generous payments to investors.
GE’s stock was in free fall in 2018, and Flannery overhauled the board. One of the new directors was Culp. A graduate of and former senior lecturer at Harvard Business School, he’d previously been the CEO of Danaher Corp., a onetime industrial conglomerate in its own right that’s idolized by investors for its operational rigor. (Danaher eventually broke up, starting in 2016 with the spinoff of the industrial products company Fortive Corp., shortly after Culp left.)
Culp’s Message: “Everybody Around The Boardroom, Don’t Panic”
Flannery announced a plan to spin off GE’s health-care business in June 2018, but such a wholesale breakup quickly became untenable. The company couldn’t afford it: The remaining operations wouldn’t have generated enough cash to allow GE to pay off its mountain of debt. “We could not spin health care without putting everything fundamentally at risk,” Culp says.
GE’s directors asked Culp if he wanted to run the company. He turned them down—twice, he says—but an August 2018 visit to GE’s gas-power operations in Atlanta began to change his mind. The place was a mess, he tells Bloomberg Businessweek. “We were managing the business in a way that was probably 180 degrees from the way we ran things at Danaher,” he says. But Culp saw a path to fix GE’s operations. His message: “Everybody around the boardroom, don’t panic.”
GE directors offer a bingo card’s worth of MBA-speak to describe how rough the situation was. Tom Horton, former CEO of American Airlines, says he and Culp were both “eyes wide open” when they joined the board together in 2018: “Once we got under the hood, the challenges were more substantial than maybe we anticipated.”
Two months after his visit to Atlanta, Culp was named CEO. In short order, he slashed the dividend to $0.01 a share and killed the plan to spin off health care. Instead, Culp brokered a deal to sell GE’s biopharmaceutical unit to his former employer Danaher. GE received $21 billion in cash for the business, which makes equipment and materials used to manufacture drugs, and offloaded $400 million in pension obligations to Danaher. The transaction was completed in March 2020, about three weeks after the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic brought air travel to a halt, creating an existential challenge for the company’s jet engine business. “I don’t know what would have happened if we hadn’t closed that deal,” Culp says.
GE directors thought the pandemic had made Culp’s job harder, and they wanted to give their CEO another reason to stick with it. In August 2020, the board altered the terms of Culp’s compensation package to give him more time to reach performance targets for a one-time stock bonus and make it meaningfully easier for him to have access to the top payout of about $230 million. Shareholders representing a majority of voting stock opposed the pay deal, but their vote was nonbinding, and the board had already approved the changes anyway. Culp accessed the top tier of the equity grant in July 2023, and the shares will vest next year unless he retires before then. (GE later curbed other aspects of Culp’s compensation.) “We were securing Larry’s leadership for a longer period of time, and that’s proven to be certainly in shareholders’ interest,” Horton says.
There are parallels between Culp and Welch, a company legend who was also legendarily well-compensated. The underlying principles of the lean manufacturing philosophy Culp preaches aren’t all that different from Welch’s cult of Six Sigma, another corporate dogma focused on measuring the rate of operational defects and eliminating inefficiencies. But the two are otherwise very different. Welch’s habit of ranking employees by performance and summarily firing the bottom 10% created a culture of mistrust. Employees who survived layoffs started to think they were the smartest people in the industry, a mentality that persisted after Welch retired and GE began to fade.
Culp has been programming a new mantra into his subordinates, adapted from his time at Danaher: We’re not perfect. “You’ll have some home runs, but you don’t need them every day,” says Jim Lico, who worked for Culp at Danaher and is now president and CEO of Fortive. “No one is perfect.” That kind of talk might’ve gotten a Welch-era executive fired, but it’s part of Culp’s belief in continuous improvement that his team routinely parrots.
This often manifests with seemingly small changes that can make a big impact on productivity over time. In one instance, GE reduced the distance a part must travel around its plant in Greenville, South Carolina, by about 3 miles, says Scott Strazik, the CEO of the soon-to-be-spun-out energy business GE Vernova. Even something as small as reorganizing the toolboxes used by turbine repair technicians can make a big difference. “There’s a long way to go,” Strazik says. GE Aerospace is trying to get its many factories to coordinate more with one another and with the teams that handle contract reviews and other back-office tasks. That process isn’t “perfect,” even if it has improved, says Kayla Ciotti, materials and planning leader at GE Aerospace. “Ten years ago, we had brick walls. Five years ago, we had screen doors,” she says. “The door is open now. There’s no door.”
In contrast with the cutthroat culture at Welch’s GE, Culp’s employees will get some leeway if they do walk into walls. “That doesn’t mean that if you screw something up and you do it repeatedly, there isn’t responsibility to bear,” Culp says. “But a problem-solving culture is far more effective operationally than a finger-pointing culture.”
Brian Carlson remembers his first gemba walk with Culp. Carlson, who runs the 1.2-million-square-foot GE factory in Schenectady, New York, that makes power plant generators, watched Culp stop at one production line in 2019 to inspect a reel of copper wire, which workers fashion into long, braided slabs bent like hockey sticks at both ends. Known as stator bars, these parts are installed inside the guts of enormous generators, which can weigh more than 400 tons. Culp was checking the manufacturing date on a reel of wire. Dozens of reels were stacked on shelves and pallets at the station, burning cash as long as they sat unused. “Others had visited Schenectady before, but it wasn’t into that level of detail,” Carlson says. “When Larry Culp shows up and wants to see how long your material’s been sitting on the factory floor, that simple gesture really sets a tone.”

After that visit, workers cleared out a large room that once housed office space near the factory’s entrance and spent months building a scale model of the entire factory from hand-cut pieces of white and green foam, which they carefully laid out on rows of folding tables. Placards hang overhead marking each section of the factory, the largest of which declares the purpose of this enormous diorama: “Take it to the model before you take it to the floor.”
The foam factory is now a hub of Schenectady’s operations. Factory staff simulate projects first in the room before testing them on the factory floor. This is part of what’s known inside GE as a kaizen event. Culp loves a good kaizen. The Japanese term means continuous improvement and is another tenet of lean manufacturing. It’s a method for problem-solving that Culp has pushed throughout the company, in which executives and hourly workers dedicate a week to improve a production process, such as the stator bars that caught his attention during his visit in 2019. The goal is to come up with a solution by Friday and have the new process in motion on Monday.
The old way of making stator bars involved moving parts by crane through a 26-step process that took about three months to complete. Each bar now moves on rollers through an eight-step process in as little as three weeks. And now there’s only enough copper wire on hand to sustain a single shift.
On an unusually warm day in late February, Carlson motions to an area on the stator bar line where more improvement is needed. They still use a crane to hoist bars over an active walkway that crosses through the assembly line. A fix is in the works. “See,” he says, “we’re not perfect yet.”
“We Do Not Intend, Let Me Be Clear, To Be All Things To All People”
By early 2021, Culp’s turnaround of GE was starting to take hold, but the company was still sitting on too much debt. A solution arrived that March, when AerCap Holdings NV agreed to acquire GE’s aircraft leasing unit. The deal would allow GE to pay off $30 billion it had borrowed, reducing its debt to the point where the company could realistically think about establishing three separate businesses—in aerospace, health care and energy—that investors would actually want to own.
Culp started mapping out a breakup plan and gave it a code name: Project Revere, inspired by a monument to American patriot Paul Revere near Culp’s home in Boston. He liked the history motif. As GE’s board deliberated a split-up, a defining moment came in a PowerPoint presentation. A slide illustrated the degree to which investors were avoiding the stock simply because it was a conglomerate. “When you just looked at the companies that folks who really wanted to bet on the energy transition or on commercial aerospace were invested in, it was not with us,” Culp says.
In November, a week after the AerCap deal closed, GE announced the spinoff plan. “Everyone felt the weight of that decision,” Culp says at GE Aerospace’s Learning Center in Evendale, Ohio, where visitors can tour a museum of the company’s aerospace achievements, starting with the first American jet engine.
A breakup was never the only option, but it was the best one. Although modern conglomerates do exist (Alphabet, Amazon, Microsoft), GE’s ye olde smokestack model wasn’t working anymore. Investors were getting burned by its bigness more often than they were getting rewarded. The conglomerate structure is especially limiting when it comes to spending money, says David Giroux, a portfolio manager and chief investment officer of T. Rowe Price Investment Management. Massive companies tend to make the wrong acquisitions and overpay for them.
One deal Culp didn’t do was to pay an acquirer to make GE’s insurance problem go away. “There were checks back in the dark days that we could have written that would have been akin to having people tear our eyeballs out,” Culp says. “But you never want to be on the other side of that sort of trade.” Although GE hasn’t done any new business in long-term-care insurance in almost two decades, it’s still paying off claims it agreed to back for other providers. It’s now closed the $15 billion insurance funding shortfall, and investors treat the appendage as more of a quirk than the crisis it was in 2018. Culp says he might get rid of the business someday. But he’s not in any rush.
After the breakup, GE Aerospace will have $25 billion of cash to spend on dividends, share buybacks and acquisitions—with the first two taking priority. Culp won’t say what kinds of deals GE Aerospace might do, only that he’ll look for complementary and easily digestible assets. “We do not intend, let me be clear, to be all things to all people,” he told investors in early March.
All of GE’s gemba walks and kaizens and the intense scrutiny of its manufacturing operations look especially prudent after a series of high-profile quality-control failures among its peers. RTX Corp. is recalling thousands of jet engines because of a manufacturing glitch; Siemens Energy AG sought help from the German government after defects in its wind turbines resulted in massive losses; and Boeing Co. can’t even deliver its 737 Max with all the bolts properly installed.
When there are three GEs, Culp hopes the old name still means something to investors. He says that’s one reason he took the job in the first place: “It’s GE.”
At the company’s off-site in Ohio, executives gathered at Carillon Historical Park in Dayton. It’s home to the Wright Brothers’ Wright Flyer III, the first practical airplane. This piece of aviation history sits next to Culp’s Cafe, which serves an All-American egg sandwich and coffee for $13. The cafe has nothing to do with GE’s CEO. It’s named after Charlotte Gilbert Culp, who founded a baked-goods business in 1902 as a young widow in Dayton. At that time, GE was still just an electrical company.

People should spend an average of five to 10 minutes on the john, according to Dr. Farah Monzur, an assistant professor of medicine and director of the Inflammatory Bowel Disease Center at Stony Brook Medicine on Long Island, New York.
Why is it a problem if you stay longer? First, here’s a short physics lesson. Gravity keeps us grounded on Earth, but that same gravity also forces the body to work harder to pump blood back up to the heart, Xue said.
The open oval-shaped toilet seat compresses the buttocks, keeping the rectum in a lower position than if you were sitting on the couch. With gravity pulling the lower half of the body down, the increased pressure affects your blood circulation.
“It becomes a one-way value where blood enters, but blood really can’t go back,” Xue said.
As a result, the veins and blood vessels surrounding the anus and lower rectum become enlarged and engorged with blood, increasing the risk of hemorrhoids.
Go fuck yourself know nothing piece of shit
