It's my first (almost) finished diorama project, if you don't count the Warhammer cardboard scenery I made 25 years ago.

I have a figure I need to print out and add to it.

Learned so much. I think it's quite imperfect but still happy with how this hobby adventure is starting. I need to be careful, miniature modeling is an obsession and absolute time sink.

Next step, probably getting a 3d printer...

An interesting piece of #sketchbook #fantasyart by Instagram artist Alfredo (@redolaf) of a wizard that's a bit down on his luck. You typically hear of a wizard living in a tower or some acting as an advisor to kings and lords, but this one appears to have lost the favor of nobility or he's hiding for some reason... in a swamp? That would explain the stilthouse, spike vine, and hodgepodge of materials that he's collected to build that house. Sure hope the wizard is safe out there, though he seems to be on the lookout for something, doesn't he? I really enjoy Alfredo's drawing style. The building has an almost cubism aspect to it, but doesn't go full on Picasso. Instead there's just enough reality mixed in so you can look at it and immediately tell it's a house. The drawing style just adds some cool character to it. And I just like stilthouses for some reason... also, the patterns and textures add something extra to this patchwork building, as does the muted color palette. The color let's you know that you're in a very earthy, dark location and grounds you to think that maybe such a locale could exist, while the sapes and textures are bend your mind, making question what you see. Great piece, Alfredo!
