Seriously, it's really big.
You know what else is big? This movie's heart. There's two types of people out there. Those who like Mary Poppins, and those who like Bedknobs and Broomsticks, and while I prefer Mary Poppins, there's no denying that Bedknobs and Broomsticks is an excellent film.
It's basically The Sound of Music meets Sword in the Stone with a scoop of Where Eagles Dare, it juggles so many tones and settings that it's impossible to be bored, and at the center of it all is a very enjoyable cast, headed by Angela Lansbury and David Tomlinson.
Great movie, one of the greats even. You should definitely check it out.

My quest to watch 80 x 80s movies continues with the classic fantasy movie Legend. Although clear of it's time, the story still holds, and the practical effects are fantastic. Tippy-top marks.

The Lords of Magick (Video, 1989)
Part of the SOV Fantasy micro-genre, which I discovered via @skinslip after discovering them while researching another movie in the micro-genre, Song of the Sword. You can watch The Lords of Magick here, or on YouTube here. You can watch a review of it by Noah Antwiler here.

Isaac and Jenessa break down Studio Ghibli's Howl's Moving Castle and discuss how it's different (better?) than the book it's based on. Listen to find out which scene made Jenessa cry.

Whilst on my run this morning I was thinking about Eric Bana again (*cough* as one does…apparently 👀 ) and it occurred to me that I can’t think of any of my favourite movies that wouldn’t be EVEN BETTER is he were in them. Not *replacing* existing leads, necessarily, bc that wouldn’t work for many of the films I have in mind…but at least acting alongside in secondary roles etc. So then I imagined Eric Bana in Interstellar (!); in LOTR (!!); in Gladiator (!!!); in The Prestige (!!!!); in Inception (!!!!!); in The Martian (!) in Star Wars (💥)
Okay okay, I may be slightly biased, yeah. But when I think about the way he inhabits his roles and how charismatic he is on screen…
I just.. I feel robbed!
