15 sprites of Jane Crocker! I made the above prompt list mostly to motivate myself to sprite for fun more, but hey, if anyone wants to borrow it for themselves, feel free! Just, you know, tag me cause I would love to see 👉👈

For the fanspecies prompt, I made a new fanspecies- Fairy! I hope to develop it more soon. The costume prompt is based on Patissiere Peach from Princess Peach Showtime, and the free space sprite is a resprite on a very early Jane sprite I made.

Hi! I like your work and I saw one post a year ago in which some "Balrogs" were mentioned. Is it possible to get some information about them and their biology maybe? I'm asking here because I haven't found any information about them on all three of your accounts.

thanks! it's crazy that this keeps coming up even 10 years later LOL. the balrogs were the subject of literally one single post which contained the following information:

they are a "cousin species" to cherubs

their genders align with order (blue) and chaos (red) rather than creation and destruction

they transform into giant scorpions rather than giant snakes

the post you saw on this blog is the second time in a decade i have ever drawn or talked about this concept so there is not a lot else to go around but because you asked nicely i drew some more pictures and thought about them a bit more:

instead of discarding a shared personality upon maturity, balrogs consume their mates and make them part of their body. they take on their final scorpion form together, with the losing partner becoming the tail (above). sort of like the male anglerfish who shrinks down to just a sexual organ attached to the female

cherubs are angels who fly through space so balrogs live in the cores of planets instead (duh)

cherubs are associated with black holes and astrophysics so balrogs are connected to quantum mechanics and the physics of tiny particles (where order / chaos and probability are important physical forces)

^ in connecting those two things, balrogs could have the ability to burrow not just into the earth but into the atomic substructure of all matter. so they can travel across the universe to meet and fight but through back channels rather than actually being able to fly through space

they use the Forge / other volcanoes to lay their eggs in the cores of planets and then the eggs hatch when the inhabitants of that planet dig deep enough to awaken them? like the story of the balrog in lord of the rings

the eggs would hatch into millions of babies like spider eggs and the swarm of young balrogs would spread across the planet to potentially disastrous effect. but only one or a few ultimately survive to grow into the cosmically powerful adult stage

i think the discovery of a balrog egg sac in the core of your planet could be like a kind of cosmic test determining whether the civilisation on that planet aligns more with the forces of order or chaos. and maybe the results of that test determine which type of balrog survives to adulthood

unless people have more questions i don't particularly have plans to do anything further with balrogs but you're not the only person who has expressed interest so i think it would be fun if anyone who is interested in the idea could play with it themselves and see what they come up with :)

WOOO YEAHGH.... saw this base on @deepseaspriteblog (who also sprited the dreamer outfits, sorry i forgot to include that on the image!) for the cyclops species by @lucheek and i really wanted to make one.... and was attacked by the Pink Fever. sorgy. planning to take the general notes of this design and apply it to other species (fantroll, fankid and cherubs r def on the planner but if there's ever a lets make a rando guide which is another species by that same creator i will be THERE!!) hence why i made it a rogue of space. i saw somebody describe rogues as "one who shatters their aspect and distrubutes it among other players" n i thought that'd be a fun class for what will esentially be a multi-universe character.

i hope this Girlthing meets the species standards! i didnt see anything abt naming conventions or dreaming moons or symbols or anything so i looked at the few other cyclops designs i could find and tried to work off of that. id love to know if this breaks any species conventions even if it isnt a Sin bc i enjoy designing my characters as closely to the spoken/unspoken rules of a species as possible. my fantrolls will NEVER have eyebrows!!!!!!!! nevaaa /j sorry if this is formatted awkwardly or does not meet tumblr-etiquette standards (am i supposed to tag artists on these posts? or only credit them by name? or tag some sideblog? argghghh) i literally have not a clue on how to use this website. im learning. be patient with me...

Some Catyr landscapes.

Fun fact, catyr foliage is mostly yellows and oranges and turns a dark blood red or black in the fall. Up north, they have species of trees that have blue and blue violet leaves.

Their skies are also a bit of a more teal color, and thus their water reflects that.

So here's something a little unusual- a commissioned base for a fanspecies! I don't usually do base requests, but this one caught my interest because, hey, no one ever asked me for a fanspecies base before and it sounded interesting. This was just as difficult as I thought it would be but also very fun. If you have any questions about these, you can always ask auspexalien about them!

ANOTHER ONE!!! amarett the rando!! randos are by @lucheek and the rando base, hair & dreamer outfits are by @deepseaspriteblog! they're a star, and their entire brand promotes the idea of living a luxurious effortless lifestyle. certainly not "bold glam", but moreso "yes i am this pretty and elegant and popular by design. i do not have to wear makeup i just look like this always". their main appeals are beauty products and accessories, but they probably have something with their brand on it for every item one could feasibly ever need in life. they're quite a popular star! despite the whole "this is effortless and i am cute and soft" act, they are anything but 'cute and soft'. they have a nasty reputation amongst other stars for accusing anyone working with even remotely similar aesthetics of copying, to the point most stars probably dont even wanna touch that specific shade of pink plastered all over brand, and being a popular kid on the block means that an accusation like that does NOT end well for whatever star is on the recieving end. theyve also gone through plenty of starfriends, some of whom also ended up being accused of copying after a breakup. they spend a lot of time perfecting the glowy skin "no makeup" makeup look, and theyre actually pretty jealous and certainly not "effortless". they dont really like to network with other stars that rival their popularity, but equally they dont want to "boost" a less popular star out of fear they will surpass them. this leads to most of their (ex)starfriends having brands so far removed from theirs that it almost clashes. how those copying accusations manage to work sometimes is an absolute mystery! their hearts are also an incredibly dedicated bunch, and being an ex ama*rett heart openly could get you VERY violently harassed by their current fans. despite all this, the jealousy and paranoia can be lonely at times. the life of a heart seems so.. sooo much simpler... but what kind of star wishes to become a heart? something like that ABSOLUTELY would not fly, so they dont talk about stuff like that. still, though, maybe making an ACTUAL friend somewhere down the line wouldn't hurt? i hope this was good and fits the species well! again just like my cyclops im totally open for critique on how to make them fit better in universe :D i might also design a random heart for them, to illustrate how their average heart would look, dress and behave, but for some reason my art program had SO. MANY. CLIPPING ISSUES. working on this that if i do that itll be a project for maybe a few weeks from now (or whenever i am randomly attacked by the Pink Fever again). and please. if you so any clipping/layer issues. no you dont. Look Away. Avert Your Eyes. Pretend You Do Not See It. i tried my BEST!!
