Bunker Board Games
SYNOPSIS: You've been stuck too long in the Bunker with Dean - and when he finds some old board games, he takes it to a whole other level.
WORD COUNT: 774
PAIRING: Reader x Dean
INCLUDES: You x Dean
CHARACTERS: Dean, Reader
FANDOM: Supernatural
Tumblr media
Stuck in this bunker for what felt like an eternity, you’d lost count of the days. It’d become a routine of research, training, and occasional bickering with Dean Winchester over who left the last drop of coffee in the pot. But today, something different happened.
Dean burst into the main room, holding a dusty cardboard box excitedly. "Guess what I found buried under a pile of old lore books? Board games!"
You look up from the ancient text you’d been reading, eyebrows raised in surprise. "Board games? Seriously?"
Dean grins, his eyes twinkling mischievously. "Yeah, seriously. Figured we could use a break from all this doom and gloom."
He set the box down on the table and started rummaging through it. "Let's see... Monopoly, Scrabble, Clue... ah, here we go! Twister!"
You laugh at the idea of playing Twister in the confines of the bunker. "You sure that's a good idea, Dean? We might end up knocking over half the furniture."
Dean shrugs nonchalantly. "Eh, it'll be fun. Plus, it's good exercise."
With a playful eye-roll, you agree to indulge his idea of fun. You start with Scrabble, and as Dean places down word after word that score suspiciously high, you can't help but notice how his eyes light up. His charisma is infectious, and despite being stuck underground, his presence makes it feel a little less suffocating.
As the afternoon wore on, you move on to Monopoly, where Dean's ruthless business tactics are surprisingly effective against you attempts to build a property empire. You catch yourself admiring his blatant cheats, finding his competitive spirit oddly endearing.
Hours pass in a blur of laughter, banter, and surprisingly intense gaming sessions. Somewhere between debates over house rules and raiding the monopoly man’s bank, the atmosphere shifts. There's a charged energy between you, a lingering tension that neither of you acknowledges outright.
When you finally tire of Monopoly, Dean suggests a break. He fetches a couple of beers from the fridge and you settle on the couch, shoulders brushing as you sip in companionable silence. The bunker feels warmer suddenly, the walls less confining with Dean so close beside you.
"You know," Dean begins, his voice lower than usual, "this isn't exactly how I imagined spending days trapped underground."
You raise an eyebrow, a smirk on your lips. "Oh, and how did you imagine it, Dean?"
He meets your gaze, his green eyes darkening slightly with something unreadable. "Maybe a bit more... action-packed," he teases, his tone laced with a hint of flirtation.
You chuckle softly, feeling a warmth spread through you at his implication. "Well, who says our day can't get more exciting?"
Dean's smile turns into a knowing grin as he leans closer, his breath mingling with yours. "I like the way you think."
Before you can fully process his words, his lips are on yours, a gentle yet firm kiss that sends a thrill through your body. His hands find their way to your waist, pulling you closer as if he's been waiting for this moment as eagerly as you had.
The kiss deepens, becoming more urgent and passionate, fueled by the tension that had been building between you for days. Dean's lips are warm and inviting, his touch confident yet tender. It's as if you’d both been holding back, waiting for the right moment to let go of your cares.
You tangle your fingers in his hair as you deepen the kiss, savoring the taste of him. The world outside the bunker fades away, leaving only the sensation of Dean's lips on yours and the steady beat of his heart against your chest.
When you finally pull apart, breathless and flushed, Dean rests his forehead against yours; his hands still resting gently on your waist. "Wow," he murmurs, his voice hoarse with emotion.
"Yeah," You manage to reply, your own voice quieted by the action that was slowly fading.
You sit in comfortable silence for a while, basking in the afterglow of the kiss. The weight of the world felt lighter somehow, as if this unexpected connection had given you both a reprieve from the darkness that surrounded your lives.
"I'm glad we found those board games," Dean finally says, breaking the silence with a hint of a smirk.
"Me too." You reply.
Dean leans in again, pressing a soft kiss to your temple. "Who knew being stuck in a bunker could be this much fun?"
As you settle back into the couch, fingers intertwined and hearts racing, you realize that maybe being stuck in this bunker isn't so bad after all—especially if it means sharing moments like this with Dean Winchester.

The trainers often called Cody clever. Written for Fandom Empire Monopoly 2024 - Prompt: "Clever" and StarWars100 - Prompt: "Clone" and 212th Appreciation Week - Prompt: "Force-Sensitive Clones" and Jedi June - Prompt: "Eyes Closed/Trust in the Force"
Read on AO3
The trainers often called Cody clever. Sometimes it was even a compliment.
It wasn’t always. Sometimes, a clone could be clever in ways that weren’t conducive to his performance as a soldier. Cody paid close attention to this, and was quick to adapt his own behavior – suppress any signs of cleverness that would be poorly received, and keep the ones (mostly in battlefield tactics) that brought favorable responses.
He was largely successful at this. It was why they had called him clever in the first place, after all – he noticed things, picked up on patterns well enough to predict where they would lead.
General Kenobi noticed. Cody felt his attention sometimes, even when the General wasn’t looking directly at him.
“I’d like you to try an exercise with me, Commander.”
Cody easily agreed.
“This is an exercise in focus,” General Kenobi said, setting a small box between them. “Close your eyes, Cody, and picture the object in front of you.”
Cody followed his lead, and shut his eyes.
“Good. Now, bring in your other senses. Focus on how it feels, the weight of it.”
He didn’t know, exactly, what it would feel like, not having touched it, but he could predict it.
“Now, lift it. Not with your hands.”
Cody pictured the box rising into the air, the way he had seen the general lift things before. He imagined gravity pulling against it, opposing him as he lifted it away from the ground.
“Ah. I suspected as much.”
“Hmm?” The image wavered for a moment, but Cody quickly regained concentration.
“Open your eyes, Commander,” he said.
Cody did, and saw that the general had lifted the box to where Cody had imagined it being.
“Sir?”
“I am not doing that, Cody.”
Cody looked between the box and his general.
“Oh.”

Kaiju Week in Review (March 24-30, 2024)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
A coworker asked tonight me how Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire measured up to Godzilla Minus One, and I responded, "Almost as good, but in a completely different way." If you like monsters (and if you're following me I have to assume you do), see it, no questions asked. There's about a million of them and they're all delightful. The franchise has long struggled to recapture the specific charms of the Showa era, and I think this comes closer than any of them. (It's the climactic tag-team battle... also Mothra returning to knock some sense into Godzilla). Pure junk food, but you can't just watch Oppenheimer all the time.
Tumblr media
Godzilla x Kong tore up the box office this weekend, performing well above expectations. Its $80 million opening Stateside was the second-best of the Monsterverse (after Godzilla). It added another $114 million internationally for the best overall opening of the (still-young) year. China was a big part of that with $44 million; giant monster movies are among the few Hollywood imports that still play well there. With a $135 million budget, lowest of the Monsterverse by a wide margin, it's a matter of when, not if, Legendary announces the next one.
Tumblr media
The Oxford English Dictionary has added an entry for tokusatsu, defined as "A genre of Japanese film or television entertainment characterized by the use of practical special effects, usually featuring giant monsters, transforming robots, and masked and costumed superheroes." It's part of a group of 23 freshly-acknowledged Japanese loan words; unclear if the timing is coincidental. Oh, and if you're curious, they added kaiju in 2018. As someone who remembers when the only English-speakers who used either word were in fandom, it's pretty wild to see.
Tumblr media
French company Extralucid Films will release Gappa on Blu-ray in June. The impressive-sounding bonus features are naturally all in French, but there's one that transcends language: 17 minutes of extra monster footage. The U.S. version of Gappa, Monster from a Prehistoric Planet, only has about 7 minutes worth of shots absent from the Japanese version, so I'm pretty curious about the other 10. It's also the first time this footage has been released in HD (Tokyo Shock blew it in 2020).
Tumblr media
Season 2 of Chibi Godzilla Raids Again is indeed receiving official English subtitles, starting the same day as the Japanese premiere, April 10. Godzilla Battle Line also added a hilariously busted joint Chibi Godzilla-Chibi Mechagodzilla unit, along with a Destoroyah variant. (Maybe Godzilla x Kong units are next month?)
Tumblr media
A new Monsterverse movie means new books to buy. The prequel comic Godzilla x Kong: The Hunted is out already (not recommended), but officially you'll have to wait until April 23 for the novelization and May 14 for the art book. Chalk that up to the late release date change, maybe. Unofficially, people are already getting the novelization from Amazon, because they're a monopoly that can afford to pay the fines from publishers for breaking street date. The audiobook version also released on the same day as the film. I don't have intel on what it adds and changes yet; adding everything from the film itself to Wikizilla is all I can handle right now.
Tumblr media
The San Francisco Giants are offering a Godzilla VIP Experience on May 17, a long-overdue acknowledgement of the savior of their city. Tickets are almost gone, though I think it's a shame that the promotion is opt-in to begin; what happened to giving these tchotchkes out to the first thousand fans? Well, figures that they'd make getting merch of the Minus One Godzilla in the States a hassle.

Third Life but with divine domains...
Part 2: Session 1 & 2.
Link: Explanation and Rules
Session 1
The first session is pretty much the same, just people hanging out. Maybe a bit more of playing with abilities like in most origins server.
Joel probably ropes Jeremysm into it somehow, by the end of the session the lore is that the belief from the cult made him a god or something.
Most people wouldn't settle in the desert when one of their abilities require dirt...but Scar isn't most people, he still comes up with the sand monopoly idea and then invites Grian.
Scott doesn't settle in the flower valley as It's hardly a cold biome meaning he doesn't meet Jimmy there... however ironically enough he probably still meets Jimmy and teams up because Jimmy would venture into the forest which is quite literally inbetween the flower valley and the mountains... If they do this then there is a zone around BigB's future base where there is both snow and forest meaning we could see a BigB-Jimmy-Scott team.
"Don't be a dog, be a God!" Tagline has a different meaning when the players are gods doesn't it?
Impulse, Tango, Etho, Bdubs, and Cleo gifting Grian an offering chest also has a different meaning huh.
Grian leads a creeper to Scar, Scar powers don't protect from creepers so hus first death remains the same. "Knowledge isn't Wisdom" is going to be considered important in this alternative fandom.
Also Skizzle still does die to an enderman...rip.
Session 1 is basically the same for everything else sooo...
Let's consider Skins
Grian doesn't change his, that I'm sure... And Joel, Jimmy and Scott probably use a variation of the X-life cult skins... BigB also doesn't change his. The Hermits definitely change their skins somehow though... I can't imagine how. Maybe Cleo would go for a dress like in Witchcraft? BdoubleO goes gold like when he becomes a sun god in Empires? I want to believe the Scitties survive the apotheosis... Well that's a phrase that exists now... Now, back to important stuff.
Session 2
Let's just say it now, if something isn't explicitely said then it isn't majorly changed
BigB doesn't invest in diamond armor as his powers makes leather armor just as good.
Alliances remain mostly unchanged for now as Scott and Jimmy are a special case because of their powers.
BdoubleO still falls to his death as he is not boosted during the night and he was too busy building to use any abilities...
The Pizza stuff still happens though the general pettyness of everyone involved in that mess makes more sense with them being divinities... Just look at greek and norse and egyptian mythology.
Fandom?
Now... I have to admit that I'll need help for these ones... after all who better then the fandom to help Imagine what an alternative fandom would be like right? Also if anyone knows my Slay The Watcher Au you'll know comments make me happy.

I have a dragon age confession to make. I always thought that using mages as a metaphor/stand-in/projection for real life oppressed was an awful idea given how magic works in the setting, and I'm a bit miffed that seems to have become the dominant fan interpretation (at least in the parts of the fandom I see).
It's just the X-men problem, right? 'What if the oppressed minority really was incredibly powerful and dangerous to themselves and everyone around them' is just always going to run into issues.
Also the writers kept confusing and contradicting themselves about basically everything to do with it. Like, from 'how scary is a mage being possessed?' on down - they can't simultaneously individually be an existential threat for an entire town and something you mow down dozens of in the course of clearing a region.
Though really all the stuff about how 'left uncontrolled and unoppressed mages will all end up abominations and destroy the world!' kind of runs into issues when the giant empire over the border is a decadent magocracy where wizards just kinda do whatever they want with no demon problems that are ever worth noting. So it just ends up seeming like self-interested propaganda to justify a very lucrative Chantry monopoly on magic. Hence the reading as oppressed minority.

I have risen from the dead
(and fuck, what happened to Tumblr? Is Xkit not working anymore??)
If you're not subscribed to my AO3 author account, you may have missed:
They're Your Paladins, Allura (genfic, humans are weird) (1,159 words)
Pobody's Nerfect (Lotidge fluff) (469 words)
Let Me Cut In (Lotidge if you squint, fluff) (738 words)
These were also from the 2023 Fandom Empire Monopoly challenge on Dreamwidth, and I hadn't realized that I never posted them to Ao3 despite them being short and complete.
More old VLD challenge fills from FE Monopoly 23 and half-finished drafts to come; good news is they're more substantial than the three above, bad news is because they're 2k or more words, it's taking longer to edit and polish.
And more new stuff to come, too. As if my brain wasn't always working on new ways to throw these two together.
I know it's 2024, and even if y'all are quiet, I know you're still out there!
NGL I was very sad to come back and see only one new fic tagged Lotor/Pidge since my shortfics in 2023 though. Was kinda hoping more people would join the ship.
Yes yes, be the change you want to see. Okay, I'm gonna captain this ship.

Cryptids of New York
Another short snippet I wrote about Baccano! for fandom empire's Monopoly board
The United States of America is a huge place, full of cryptids. Myths and legends and hoaxes galore.
Even a huge city like the New York itself is home to some cryptids.
Some of them maybe even you heard about.
The Sewer Alligators are a classic. Or even the Manhattan Monster.
Heard of them, seen theories, dismissed them.
But if you dig a bit more… you might find more cryptids.
Urban legends.
There is a restaurant chain called Alveare, now multiple locations opened across the city, and even in New Jersey a few years ago.
Originally it was a honey shop, back in the twenties-thirties. And, obviously, as many places were, they were a speakeasy.
And, rumour has it, they used to be a mafia front.
(They would be offended, if you were to say it, though.)
(Not mafia. Camorra. The distinction is important.)
Are they still that? Well… wouldn’t question that, if I were you.
But the thing is - the prohibition ended almost a hundred years ago.
Not that it matters, right?
…right?
Here’s the thing - my grandfather told me stories. My grandfather was part of Irish mafia, you you see. And he told me stories. About the babyfaced capo, and the smiling man in glasses. Boss Molsa Martillo.
Boss Molsa Martillo, who was already the owner of the Alveare, even back then.
He was already an ageing man, back then.
Boss Molsa Martillo is still an ageing man. The capo is still babyfaced alongside his young wife, neither of them having aged a day. There are also whispers of a child, often showing up around them, also unchanged.
The Martillo family has many members whose faces never changed.
But that isn’t all.
There is this old-school café. Used to be a jazz hall. Also a speakeasy. Because of course it used to be.
And the three brothers living there.
The silent one. The strong one. The pretty one.
Also looking the way they did in the Prohibition era.
That’s the rumour anyway.
But that’s the thing with cryptids isn’t it?
You never how much of it is true.

I want to live my life with you, play the whole hand 'til it's through
The living and the dead exchange promises. Written for Fandom Empire Monopoly 2024 - Prompt: "Moonlight" and Lyrical Titles Album Challenge - Song: "Symmetry" - Savatage - Handful of Rain
READ ON AO3
Under the moonlight, they can lie to themselves.
Forever, he says like a promise, feels the weight of it on a tongue not held in flesh. It’s not one he can keep, and he knows it, but perhaps it’s not a lie when he wants it so desperately to be true.
Yuugi isn’t fooled, either, but he wants it to be true just as much, so he, too, fools himself, and promises all he can give.
They both want it to be enough.
It isn’t. It won’t be.
But for tonight, they can pretend that everything will stay the same.

Sweet Moments
Marinette and Adrien bake cookies together. Written for Fandom Empire Monopoly 2024 - Prompt: "Cookies" and Gen Prompt Bingo - Prompt: "Curtainfic (and similar)"
Read on AO3
“...Unless you want to make a competition of it?” Marinette said, a teasing glint in her eyes and a large bowl and spoon in her hands.
“That wouldn’t be fair, my Lady,” Adrien said, grinning back at her. “You’ve been baking cookies since you could walk. I’d certainly lose.”
“That doesn’t stop you when it comes to video games.”
“That’s different,” he said. “I’ve been playing video games as long as you have; when I lose, it’s a fair loss.”
“I see,” she said, and set the bowl in front of him, “then I guess we go back to the original plan, and I tell you what to do.”
“Maybe I like it when you tell me what to do,” he said, leaning forward. Marinette pushed him back by the nose in a well-practiced motion.
“Later, kitty, or we’ll never get these cookies made,” she said, but couldn’t hide her amusement. “But you know I like to hear that. You can start by getting the dry ingredients together, while I work on the rest.”
They each set to their tasks. Marinette couldn’t help but keep looking over at her partner, unable to hold back her smile as she watched him.

Nighttime Conversation
Mace is having trouble sleeping after a rough campaign. Written for Fandom Empire Monopoly 2024 - Prompt: "Night" and Jedi June - Prompt: "Advice/Inspiration"
Read on AO3
“Still awake, are you, Master Windu?”
Mace turned his gaze away from the glittering Coruscant skyline (so bright, even at this late hour. So unlike the battlefield encampments, so deeply entrenched in night that a person couldn’t see one part of their body from another, until they were lit in the worst way with enemy fire raining down on them).
“I just came from a planet with a diurnal cycle almost precisely opposite Coruscant,” he answered. “You’ll forgive me if it takes a while to adjust.”
“Hmmph. And then sent out again, you will be, hmm?”
Mace let the silence, and his weariness, answer for him.
“Rest, you need,” Yoda said. “Rest, we all need.”
“Yes,” he agreed. “But as long as the war continues...my men look to me. If I do not inspire them to keep hope in the darkest nights, who will?”
“More than one way to extinguish a candle, there is,” Yoda admonished. “Better to light others than to hold one until it burns away, hmm?”
Mace knew that, but it was sometimes better to hear it from a mentor and friend.
“Come. Tea and company, I offer. Good, these things are, when sleep, I cannot.”

For fandom empire's Monopoly Week 1: Europe
rating: Teen and up
Word Count: 350
Warning(s): none
{short below the cut}
Tumblr media
Jane hadn’t seen Earth since she’d finished N-school, and even then, she’d only ever seen the shitty mega-city she grew up in and Alliance bases. It wasn’t for lack of opportunities; plenty of assignments could have taken her groundside, but there was nothing for her there but bad memories and people who would rather see her in a box. Earth didn’t want her and she had no desire to return. She liked it that way.
“You’re not happy to be going home, Freckles?”
It was an innocuous question. Vega was born planetside, he was going home.
“London isn’t my home,” Jane said quietly, letting her head rock against the window. Entering atmo was always a little rough no matter how good the shuttle’s dampeners were.
“Well, yeah, I can tell that much.” Vega rubbed his neck. “But–”
“Earth isn’t my home, either.”
Kicked-puppy didn’t look right on a Marine, but the lieutenant had it down to an art. “I thought–”
“Don’t waste your breath, Vega.” John braced himself on the handles welded to the roof. “I’ve been trying to open that book for years.”
They steeped in the silence until their boots hit the ground. Concrete dust and other debris swirled up from the ground and resettled around their soles. There weren’t any other boot prints near their landing site; either they’d found the one patch of ruins no one had been to yet, or there wasn’t anyone left in that sector. Deep fissures ran like rivers through the street and slipped their fingers beneath the buildings around them to drag the structures underground, shearing off entire sides of homes, leaving people’s lives on display like a dollhouse cutaway.
“This is bad,” Vega remarked.
“It gets worse.” Jane pointed her shotgun towards where the Tower Bridge once stood. It had crumpled on itself from the force of the SSV Benjamin Davis exploding overhead and subsequently dammed up the Thames. Sludgy water oozed into the courtyard of the ruined Tower of London. The carrier’s black box would be somewhere on the other side. “Hope you know how to swim, big guy.”
