Impatiently Patiently Waiting
This is my partner and I's first cycle really trying.
I've been using the Clearblue Ovulation tests and I'm starting to get nervous. I have had a flashing smiley for two days and it's driving me crazy. I mean I know I'm still fertile, but I am just waiting for that solid. I'm not sure if the ovulation testing is more nerve-wracking of it the two week wait is more nerve-wracking.
Here's hoping this is the cycle! Send lots of baby dust lovlies!

Health Promotion and Disease Prevention
Health Promotion and Disease Prevention
Introduction Health promotion and disease prevention are critical components of public health strategies aimed at improving the health and well-being of individuals and communities at the 15th American Healthcare, Hospital management, Nursing, And Patient Safety Summit Here's an overview of these concepts: Health Promotion:
1. Health promotion involves empowering individuals and communities to take control of their health and make positive lifestyle choices.
2 . It focuses on promoting behaviors and conditions that contribute to good health, such as regular physical activity, healthy eating, stress management, and avoiding tobacco and excessive alcohol consumption.
3 . Health promotion activities often include health education, community outreach, and the creation of supportive environments that facilitate healthy choices.
4 . The goal of health promotion is to enhance well-being, prevent diseases, and improve quality of life.
Disease Prevention:
1 . Disease prevention involves efforts to reduce the incidence, prevalence, and impact of diseases and health conditions.
2 . Prevention strategies may target different stages of the disease process, including primary prevention (preventing the onset of disease), secondary prevention (detecting and treating diseases in their early stages), and tertiary prevention (managing and reducing the complications of existing diseases).
3 . Prevention efforts may include vaccination programs, screening initiatives, health behavior interventions, and environmental modifications to reduce exposure to risk factors.
4 . Disease prevention aims to reduce the burden of illness, decrease healthcare costs, and improve overall population health outcomes.

Something that genuinely makes me sad is when I think about never being a mom. I didn’t imagine that I’d get to 32 with no kids of my own. It’s still a very soft spot that we were going to try for children this year and it didn’t happen. Don’t get me wrong, I’m grateful it didn’t because with all the stress I probably would’ve lost my baby and I don’t want that -as it stand anything can happen under normal conditions- but I started to also think of how unfair it was that I had to go to the doctor to have a child when other people get happy accidents (or planned lol). I’m sitting with the feeling and I known I’d rather have a healthy and stable relationship first. Plus I’m a little selfish with time. I’d want someone as much to myself as I could get for a while. My maternal clock is just ticking and sometimes it hurts.
A little sad but it’ll pass

IUI vs. IVF in India: A Detailed Guide to Fertility Treatment Options
IUI vs. IVF in India: A Detailed Guide to Fertility Treatment Options
Introduction
Infertility affects a large number of couples in India, but advancements in assisted reproductive technologies (ART) offer renewed hope. Two of the most common fertility treatments are Intrauterine Insemination (IUI) and In Vitro Fertilisation (IVF). Both methods have helped countless individuals and couples achieve their dream of parenthood. This comprehensive guide compares IUI and IVF in India, outlining the key factors to consider when choosing the most suitable fertility treatment.
Understanding IUI in India
Intrauterine Insemination (IUI) is a relatively simple and less invasive procedure. In IUI, prepared sperm (either from a partner or a donor) is inserted directly into the uterus around the time of ovulation. The process aims to increase the chances of sperm reaching and fertilising an egg.
Key Aspects of IUI in India:
Less invasive: The procedure is minimally painful and does not require anaesthesia.
Affordability: IUI is a more cost-effective option, typically ranging between ₹10,000 and ₹20,000 per cycle.
Short procedure: It is a quick process, lasting around 15-30 minutes.
Donor sperm options: IUI can use either the partner’s or donor sperm.
Success rates: IUI has a success rate of approximately 10-20% per cycle, which depends on factors such as the woman’s age, sperm quality, and overall reproductive health.
Understanding IVF in India
In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) involves a more complex process, where an egg is fertilised outside the body in a lab, and the resulting embryo is transferred to the uterus. IVF is generally recommended when IUI or other fertility treatments have failed or if there are specific fertility issues, such as blocked fallopian tubes or severe male infertility.
Key Aspects of IVF in India:
More invasive: IVF requires hormonal stimulation, egg retrieval, and embryo transfer, making it a more involved procedure.
Cost considerations: IVF is more expensive, with prices ranging between ₹1.5 lakhs and ₹2.5 lakhs per cycle.
Procedure duration: The entire IVF process takes around 4-6 weeks, including ovarian stimulation and monitoring.
Higher success rates: IVF offers higher success rates of 40-50% per cycle, depending on age, egg quality, and other factors.
Multiple options: IVF can include Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI) or Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis (PGD) to improve outcomes for specific infertility issues.
Comparison: IUI vs. IVF in India
Criteria

Cost

40-50%
Age Limit

Choosing Between IUI and IVF
When deciding between IUI and IVF, it’s essential to evaluate several factors:
Age: Women above 35 may experience lower success rates with IUI and may be better suited for IVF.
Cause of Infertility: For issues such as severe male infertility, blocked fallopian tubes, or endometriosis, IVF is often the preferred treatment.
Previous Treatment Attempts: If IUI cycles have been unsuccessful, IVF may be recommended as the next step.
Financial Considerations: IUI is more affordable, but IVF offers higher success rates and may be more cost-effective in the long run.
Personal Preferences: Some individuals prefer starting with less invasive treatments like IUI, while others may choose IVF for its higher success rates.
Fertility Treatment Costs in India
Here is an overview of the typical costs for common fertility treatments:
Treatment
Cost (approx.)
IUI
₹10,000 - ₹20,000
IVF
₹1.5 lakhs - ₹2.5 lakhs
ICSI
₹2 lakhs - ₹3 lakhs
Egg Donation
₹1.5 lakhs - ₹2.5 lakhs
Conclusion
Both IUI and IVF offer viable fertility treatment options in India, with varying degrees of invasiveness, cost, and success rates. Understanding the key differences between these treatments can help you make an informed decision. Consulting with a fertility specialist is essential to determine which option is best for your situation, based on factors such as age, infertility cause, and financial circumstances.
Whether you choose IUI or IVF, India offers world-class fertility clinics, including Prashanth IVF, known for its comprehensive fertility treatments and high success rates. At Prashanth IVF, couples receive personalized care, expert guidance, and access to cutting-edge technologies, helping them achieve their dream of parenthood.
