Happened to look at the letter to Sirius in the last episode, and paused to read the translation since I don't think I ever did. (Was always focused on the subtitles for her voice.)

Anyway, the letter is translated except for her name:

I haven't been posting about it because I'm trying to avoid spoilers, but I finally started watching Boueibu and WOW. my only expectation was that it was made by the people who made Fairy Ranmaru, so it would probably be borderline incomprehensible but very camp and gay (and isn't that all that matters?)

but this show is like, legitimately good? I feel like I can recommend it to people without feeling like I'm leading them into a pit of deadly spikes? I can actually follow the flow of the fight scenes! the characters do things that make sense! I know how the magic system works!!!!

I understand this is a very low bar but I watch Fairy Ranmaru so much I kinda forget what watching a good show feels like.

also, I'm hoping this isn't all queerbait. Fairy Ranmaru caught me off-guard with the explicit and wonderful homosexuality of it so now I'm going into this one actively anticipating it, and if there isn't any I'm going to be so so sad

How was episode 2 “Wrath”?! インパクト大でスタートした『Fairy蘭丸』！

目の前でお父さんが燃え尽きるというなんとも 壮絶な過去からスタートした第２話、 焔が背負っているものがなんなのか、少しだけわかりましたね！

We understood just a bit about the burden Homura carried with him at the start of episode 2, which began with the really spectacular past of his father being consumed by fire before his eyes.

「人助けなんてくだらねぇ。」と言いつつも 涙を流す女性を目の前にしたら、助けるという焔のかっこよさ。。 『落ちたな』っていうコメントがたくさん流れたの笑いましたw

In spite of his words, “Helping other people is stupid,” there’s a woman before his eyes, crying and he helps her…that’s Homura’s cool side.

There were lots of comments of “It fell, huh?”, so I laughed, LOL. 蘭丸は十訓botにw

Ranmaru is a Ten Laws bot, LOL.

「ヒーロー」の言葉に過敏に反応する焔、 そして水潤族のうるうとの確執。

There’s discord between Homura, who’s oversensitive to the word “hero”, and Uruu of the Aqua Clan. うるうは「水は火が好きだよ」と言っていましたが、 それは水が有利属性だからなのか、、、、（？）

Uruu said “Water is quite fond of fire, actually,” so does that mean water is the advantageous element…(?)

なんやかんやあって、椎菜が置かれている現状を知った焔。

This and that happened, so Homura met Shiina in the present. 命の危機にあった椎菜を助け、ここから名言タイム！！

He’s helping Shiina, who was having a life-threatening crisis, so from here on out, it’s wise saying time!! あんなかっこいいこと、まっすぐ言えちゃう焔やばいですよねw

Homura’s amazing for saying such cool things in a straightforward manner, LOL. （このシーンのアフレコ中、堀さんがきゃっきゃしてます）

His weak point also went up in flames and it was rousing! (LOL) [T/N: This was the best I could do with the double entendre regarding Homura’s…erhem…and the excitement of the scene…I’m sorry if you don’t get it.] 艶歌のアングルもめちゃくちゃ狙ってますよねww

椎菜を守る焔、最高にかっこよくて見入ってしまいました！！

Homura protecting Shiina was the best thing I’ve ever laid eyes on!! そして椎菜の「怒り」を力に役目を果たします！

Then, the power of Shiina’s anger plays a role! 『助けたい』『守りたい』という感情のままに戦う焔、 それはもう「ヒーロー」なのではないでしょうか？

Homura is fighting with feelings like “I want to help” and “I want to protect”, but that is already what a hero does, right?

最後は、椎菜の漫画の連載決定というハッピーエンド！

In the end, Shiina’s manga serialisation had a happy ending! しかしイラストは焔の姿に似ている。

However, the illustration resembles Homura. 樹果「記憶は消えるんじゃなかったっけ？」

Juka: “Didn’t she lose those memories?” 詰めの甘さを女王やうるうに咎められてしまいます。

The queen and Uruu blame Homura for being sloppy at the end. でもね！ここの焔の照れ顔は、世界一かわいい！！！

But! This Homura’s red face is the cutest in the world!!! だから気にすんな！！

So it doesn’t matter!! （ここだけは外せない！絶対見て！）

Im dissapointed in thelast F-ran episode.

We still dont know what's going on with the fairy world, Ranmarus amnesia, the queen, the attachment energy and with the fucking sloth.

Uruus and Homuras interaction was short, badly written and ended in a clif hanger.

These dudes need to talk. I wanted to see some serious talk here, smth that would explain what happened with Uruus mom and Homuras dad.

The episode focused on Jyuka and his role as a fairy from a healer clan. The girl of the week was beeing too kind for her own good and Jyukas clan seems to not be respected enough for what they do, in his opinion.

I think the message of the story was that caretakers etc are vital to society, and ppl in boss positions in fact arent. The girl was too attached to her role as the kids caretaker, so she owerworked herself and risked her health. The show is aimed towards women: the thing called "attachment" is in fact lack of assertivness in women.

I believe Jyuka was supposed to grow in a specific way here: he saw that the role of healers and caretakers is vital, but that destroying yourself for the sake of others isnt good either. I think his growth as a fairy was the thing that magically brought him back - Im rly dissapointed with the episode. Like the material, the message is interesting, but it wasnt shown and fleshed out enough. The show generally doesnt show enough of the fairies inner worlds, of their thoughts and feelings.

The thing I disliked the most was the portrayal of the villainess - an older overweight woman with colorfull makeup who dislikes children and goes to host clubs: rly, such degeneracy, omfg🙄

Ofc what made her a real ass was beeing a shitty boss and seeing the kids as smth she can make money off, but still, her design is sexist in my opinion.

Im sad cuz F-ran rly, rly has potential, but the budget and the directing... sucks. And it could have been another Sailor moon.

Also (I may include this in the Boueibu/Robihachi/F-Ran fic I'm doing for Pretty Boy Week) I really want a post-finale conversation between Homuruu, where Homura is like "so you kissed me and said you forgive me, but what does that make us? Was the kiss symbolic? Are we dating?" and Uruu is just cryptic like 😏 making Homura be like "What are we???"
