OP / ED Performers Revealed for Fairy Ranmaru TV Anime

  The opening and ending theme song performers have been revealed for Fairy Ranmaru ~Anata no Kokoro Otasuke Shimasu~ ("Fairy Ranmaru ~We Will Help Your Heart~"), an upcoming original magical boy TV anime featuring a group of five handsome young men who transform in order to help their clients heal the emptiness in their hearts.

  The opening and ending themes are performed by 5 to HEAVEN, an in-character voice unit composed of Ranmaru Aoi (CV: Shougo Sakata), Homura Hoterase (CV: Kohsuke Tanabe), Uruu Seiren (CV: Balletta Yutaka), Juka Mutsuoka (CV: Taichi Kusano), and Takara Utashiro (CV: Akihiro Hori).

  The opening theme is entitled "Ayashiku Get your heart" ("Bewitching Get your heart"), while the ending theme is entitled "Yousei Aika" ("Yousei Lament"). Both songs will be released as singles in Japan by Pony Canyon on April 21, 2021.

    Set in a world of cruelty and heartbreak, Fairy Ranmaru ~Anata no Kokoro Otasuke Shimasu~ follows five young men who work at the mysterious "Bar F" and who offer to heal the hearts of their clients, wiping away their tears and causing smiles to bloom like flowers. They take no payment...aside from stealing their clients' hearts.

    Fairy Ranmaru ~Anata no Kokoro Otasuke Shimasu~ is directed by Masakasu Hishida and Kousuke Kobayashi and features animation production by Studio Comet. The series is scheduled to begin broadcasting in Japan on AT-X, TOKYO MX, and BS NTV beginning in April of 2021.

目の前でお父さんが燃え尽きるというなんとも 壮絶な過去からスタートした第２話、 焔が背負っているものがなんなのか、少しだけわかりましたね！

We understood just a bit about the burden Homura carried with him at the start of episode 2, which began with the really spectacular past of his father being consumed by fire before his eyes.

「人助けなんてくだらねぇ。」と言いつつも 涙を流す女性を目の前にしたら、助けるという焔のかっこよさ。。 『落ちたな』っていうコメントがたくさん流れたの笑いましたw

In spite of his words, “Helping other people is stupid,” there’s a woman before his eyes, crying and he helps her…that’s Homura’s cool side.

There were lots of comments of “It fell, huh?”, so I laughed, LOL. 蘭丸は十訓botにw

Ranmaru is a Ten Laws bot, LOL.

「ヒーロー」の言葉に過敏に反応する焔、 そして水潤族のうるうとの確執。

There’s discord between Homura, who’s oversensitive to the word “hero”, and Uruu of the Aqua Clan. うるうは「水は火が好きだよ」と言っていましたが、 それは水が有利属性だからなのか、、、、（？）

Uruu said “Water is quite fond of fire, actually,” so does that mean water is the advantageous element…(?)

なんやかんやあって、椎菜が置かれている現状を知った焔。

This and that happened, so Homura met Shiina in the present. 命の危機にあった椎菜を助け、ここから名言タイム！！

He’s helping Shiina, who was having a life-threatening crisis, so from here on out, it’s wise saying time!! あんなかっこいいこと、まっすぐ言えちゃう焔やばいですよねw

Homura’s amazing for saying such cool things in a straightforward manner, LOL. （このシーンのアフレコ中、堀さんがきゃっきゃしてます）

椎菜を守る焔、最高にかっこよくて見入ってしまいました！！

Homura protecting Shiina was the best thing I’ve ever laid eyes on!! そして椎菜の「怒り」を力に役目を果たします！

Then, the power of Shiina’s anger plays a role! 『助けたい』『守りたい』という感情のままに戦う焔、 それはもう「ヒーロー」なのではないでしょうか？

Homura is fighting with feelings like “I want to help” and “I want to protect”, but that is already what a hero does, right?

最後は、椎菜の漫画の連載決定というハッピーエンド！

In the end, Shiina’s manga serialisation had a happy ending! しかしイラストは焔の姿に似ている。

However, the illustration resembles Homura. 樹果「記憶は消えるんじゃなかったっけ？」

Juka: “Didn’t she lose those memories?” 詰めの甘さを女王やうるうに咎められてしまいます。

The queen and Uruu blame Homura for being sloppy at the end. でもね！ここの焔の照れ顔は、世界一かわいい！！！

But! This Homura’s red face is the cutest in the world!!! だから気にすんな！！

So it doesn’t matter!! （ここだけは外せない！絶対見て！）

Likewise, here's one from Shouko Nagasawa. (This is a pun on how うるうる (uru uru) means "teary-eyed" or "damp/moist (skin, hair etc.)".)

According to Balletta, Uruu's name trended in the Kanto region during the airing of episode 3.

(Potential spoilers for episode 3!) Here's a video of Uruu's character song. Its name is 俺の心は雨模様 (Ore no Kokoro wa Ame Moyou, roughly something like "My Heart Seems Like the Rain").

(Potential spoilers for episode 3!) Guests for episode 3 were Satomi Sato as Iyo (who Hishida knows from Rilu Rilu Fairilu) and Soma Saito as Souji (who Hishida knows from King of Prism, since Saito is Yukinojo there). Hishida calls them "childhood friends" in his tweet because of his previous associations with them. By the way, this episode aired on Saito's birthday. Was it an appropriate way to end the day?...You can be the judge of that, after you watch the episode.

(Potential spoilers for episode 2!) Also, Niizuka's voice actor is Mitsuaki Madono. (No one mentioned it on Twitter, though...)

Tanabe singles out Hori's reaction (giggling) towards how Homura can say such cool things with a straight face (referring to the things Homura said to help Shiina out in the first half of the episode, which Tanabe calls "wise saying time").

Tanabe thought, "Is Twitter okay with shots of Homura's nether regions?"

Tanabe puts a shameless link to Homura no Hana's video on YouTube at the end.

Takara makes comments at the end of every post, normally along the lines of "I-Is that so...?" or something like that. This time he went, "Y-Yeah, you're right..." It seems these comments actually come from Hori himself, because Hori tweeted, "To think Kohsuke would write such a long post...(′つω；｀)" and in the same tweet, he confirms he had the reaction Tanabe says he did. ("思えば2話の時からわいはｷｬｯｷｬｯしとったんやなぁww" - roughly, "Now that I remember it, I did giggle during episode 2, but you're accusing me of it? LOL")

Here's the synopsis of episode 3, Jealousy. (Spoilers!) The characters of the week are called Iyo and Souji...well, the latter's name could alternatively be "Shuji" or "Munetsugu"...

Notes below for Tanabe's blog post, dated 24th May 2021. Remember, spoilers for episode 7 will be present!

(I haven't been translating the titles of the posts because for eps 1 - 5, they're a variation on "[so-and-so]'s Turn" and for ep. 6 it was "Ranmaru Ai's Voice Actor Shogo Sakata: Episode 6! Entering for the Second Time!", but this one is called "Homura Hoterase's Voice Actor Kohsuke Tanabe: The Impactful 7th Episode!!"...You'll see why at the end.)

Tanabe starts by introducing himself as the "tank top (police) inspector". This is a reference to a previous time where Tanabe was "Tank Top Tanabe" and another time where he was a police inspector.

"既視感がある？そんなはずないです。よく観てくださいな、ちくわだもの。" - "Did you get de ja vu [from this]? It cannot be. If you look closely, it's chikuwa." (regarding the Yousei no Homura character)

Tanabe really likes Juka's cowardly voice (regarding Homura and Uruu fighting) and no matter how many times he watches the episode, he always notices it.

Tanabe notes as of episode 6, Uruu's unnatural emotions are directed towards Homura. He notes his and Balletta's microphones were the furthest apart during the recording of this scene, but they agreed the impact of the "I'll kill you!" at the end was conveyed. If Takara wasn't there to stop them, it would've been dangerous.

Tanabe notes Takara knows the lawyer from ep. 5. The voice actor for him, Takeharu Onishi, adlibbed this line: 「ぼちぼちでんがなまんがな」 (CR translation: "Not bad, if I do say so myself". - Tanabe also notes Onishi is using a fake Kansai accent, which suggests he likes making money.) Tanabe is amazed at how Takara can make his voice serious.

Tanabe is nothing but envious of Homura because the reunion with Shiina was a very real scene, to the point where it was as if the staff started calling Homura a real person.

Tanabe thinks Hori likes the "Your heart is freezing" line (specifically that he would give a reaction like 「くうぅぅぅぅぅぅ〜〜、最高！！」 ("Kuuuuuuuuuu~~, this is the best!!") This is because Hori was the noisiest after recording.

Tanabe also admits he had no money on the day of recording, so "[his] wallet is freezing".

If you check the scene where Homura is burnt and falls into the lake, you can find out the cord of his fundoshi is burnt too. He doesn't have a belt, so...

Sumiya and Sakata recorded first, while Kusano, Balletta, Hori and Tanabe watched their recording via a monitor. Sound director [Ryousuke] Naya gave them immediate feedback on their work. Thus, when it was Tanabe's turn to go in with Kusano, Balletta and Hori, he could feel the tense atmosphere from the confrontation scene between Chilka and Ranmaru.

"焔が貫かれた衝撃と、フンドシの衝撃、さらにうるうによる人工呼吸の衝撃でめちゃくちゃ！" - "Homura was impacted by a piercing move, his fundoshi was impacted and the impact of Uruu [giving Homura] CPR - it's chaotic!" The first time Tanabe finished watching, his thoughts couldn't catch up to him. He eagerly awaits the next episode (but also worries for Homura...).

Tanabe notes Homura's speech has become generally cool and unnaturally straightforward. Tanabe says Homura's become easier to portray as a result, but then he suddenly admits that's bad and goes, "Who's a delinquent?!" at the end of his sentence.

Highlights so far include the fact Homura's mother resembles Shiina, the men of the Ignis Clan are well-dressed, Snake Bite is on the show (referring to Hori, who gained the moniker "Snake Bite" during this live stream (see 52:05 in the video)) and "nether regions" (probably Homura's, noting his reaction in episode 2's blog post). "探すと色々な発見があってキリがない(笑)" - "If you look for them, the discoveries are endless (LOL)."

Tanabe says to look forward to the next episode, "Violence," and ends by worrying about whether Homura will be okay.

Update: Fixed up the snakebite dot point and the tank top inspector dot point, which required watching the Otasuke Heaven and live stream videos.

Shouko Nagasawa and Mika Yamamoto will choose the winners. Enter using this form. This issue also has the B2 poster of Homura and Uruu in their fairy forms.

Animedia's June issue (sold on 10th May 2021) has tuxedo Homura and Uruu, plus a "bridal Q & A" about these two with Yoko Kawahara (producer of Boueibu as well as Fairy Ranmaru).

PASH!'s June issue (sold on 10th May 2021) has a Fairy Ranmaru interview with Balletta and Tanabe. There's also a pin-up of Homura and Uruu in their human forms.

Hishida shared these charts regarding the demographics of people singing Ayashiku Get Your Heart and Yousei Aika, plus those singing the songs by 5 to Heaven, at karaoke with the system Joysound. Turns out men and those in the 50 - 59 age range like this stuff the most.

This is a storyboard which seems to be concerning episode 2. Hishida comments: "まさかの被りでした…w" - "I didn't expect to assume responsibility for this...(LOL)"

From top left to bottom right and using the CR translation:

Note the script seems to say "Kisatsu no Yari" (Demon-Killing Spear), rather than the "Yousei no Homura" used in the actual episodes.

Fairy Ranmaru has got its own live broadcasts (basically, their equivalent to Boueibu’s Batonamas), called Kinki Kaihou Nama Housou (Live Broadcast for the Release of Misfortune) which are then differentiated with the number (for instance, this one is Sono Ichi, or Number One). The first one is here on March 11th 2021 at 9 pm (Japanese time). Shogo Sakata, Kohsuke Tanabe, Yutaka Balletta, Taichi Kusano and Akihiro Hori will be attending.
