WINSTON CHURCHILL AND YOUSUF KARSH -
By Bernard Bujold -
For over 30 years, Winston Churchill stared down guests in the lounge at the Fairmont Château Laurier Hotel in Ottawa. It was a legacy of Yousuf Karsh, the portrait photographer of royalty, politicians, artists, actors, and authors who long lived in the hotel and operated his studio there. However, a maintenance worker noticed that the picture had been stolen just over two years ago. The picture has been recently recovered in Italy and will return soon in Ottawa.
