—- IMAGINE
You’re an overthinker.
How could someone so handsome- so majestic be yours? There was room for doubt in yourself. There you sat on the edge of the bed
You saw Geto’s phone sit plainly on the counter. Taking it in your hands as the man feel asleep by your side, you felt an overwhelming sense of guilt consume you. It was so wrong…but you had to make sure right?
But still… you stared at the blank screen, glancing over to check if the man was still sleeping. He had his back turned to you so you assumed you were safe.
You lightly tap the screen, it lit up with the passcode entry. You didn’t know the passcode as you never asked him. He did have facial recognition however so that was your only solution
Quietly creeping out of the bed, you travel to Geto’s side, kneeling down to place the phone in front of his face
You tried to muffle your shuffling but after the facial recognition didn’t work because of the awkward angle you were in, you heard some grumbling
Geto’s eyebrows wrinkled , “ my passcode…” Geto slowly murmured. “ it’s your birthday…” Geto mumbled, turning his body to the other side of the bed
You kneeled in shock, you didn’t know if he was sleep talking or actually telling you the truth. You gulp and try the idea. Sure enough, it worked.
You bit your lip softly, it felt wrong to look through his phone. You searched the messages and calls, it was all from you or his close friends. The more you red, the more a pit dug a hole in your chest
You place Geto’s phone back on the counter, feeling selfish for ever doubting him. “ are you alright?” Geto fluttered his eyes to you as you travelled to his side
“ I’m sorry” you apologize. “ no no, don’t be” Geto was calm as ever. He didn’t yell nor deny you access to his phone
“ did you find what you were looking for?” Geto slowly opened his eyes to your sitting figure
“ aside from our photos and messages…no” you sigh, moving inside the sheets to stare at your significant other
“ come here beautiful ” Geto pulled your body closer to his. Your body was lightweight to him as he embraced you in a warm hug, his hand rubbing the top of your head
—- “ I love you”

Dark Horse-Matching Bands
Chapter 8 (Final Chapter)
PriceXFem!Reader
Reader is a single mother, working double shifts at a restaurant. Father of the child starts to become a problem while reader is at work and Price offers a solution. Slight age gap between reader around 25 and Price around 35.
This is it! This chapter is lots of fluff, happy ending. After this is completed plan on working some more Simon things and then have an idea of returning to this, but writing it through Price's POV. Will be darker in influence than this one however. Think our Captain is a little more selfish then what this story portrays. Kind of like the other half of the coin thing.
Thank you all for taking the time and reading this series, just really wanted to do something sweet. <3 I truly do appreciate this fanbase and its readers.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Adrenaline had worn off by the time you had reached your bed. Body heavy like someone had tucked concrete into it making relief fill you by the time you had hit your pillow. After it all, you really thought sleep was going to be hard… but honestly it was the easiest that had been delivered to you all night.
In fact, when you woke up in the morning, you felt so far out of it. Honestly, you probably could have slept for another 5 hours. Finally forcing yourself to come to, you realized it was your phone vibrating on the nightstand. Quickly picking it up, you palmed it until it answered.
“Mornin’, lovie.” Your heart mended and melted at the voice.
“John.”
“How’d you sleep love?”
“Honestly… not terrible.”
“Best you have in a while, huh.” He had wanted it to sound like a question, but instead it came out as a matter-of-fact statement. You both know why you slept so well. You had no reason to fear anymore. Your biggest fear was dead.
“Yeah… How’s Abel?”
“Still sleepin’, him, Johnny and Kyle stayed up late telling ghost stories.” There was a joke hidden somewhere in there, sleep just kept it hidden from you.
“He catch any fish?” You asked instead.
“He did, learned to clean them too. Had a proper day of teaching with him.”
It made you smile. The idea of Abel spending time with a male figure that was teaching him real life lessons.
“Good.”
“I’ll have him call you when he wakes up. Think you should probably go make a cuppa’ and turn the news on for now love.” A hint. An order what had been done last night.
“Ok, see you in a while John.”
Finally doing what he advised, you sat with a cup of coffee in your hands steam still rising off the top. The remote was on the table in front of you, parallel with the TV.
It seemed so far away and the thought of picking it up to turn the TV on almost too heavy for you. Like the concrete from last night had returned all at once. A heavy breath in, you reached for it, powering it on and flipping on the news.
The very first headline BODY HAS BEEN FOUND.
Instantly, you shut your eyes, seeing the murder scene all over once again in your small bathroom. Forcing them back open, you watched. Listening intently while the newscaster explained that a male body had been found in an alleyway after what looked like a bar fight gone wrong.
The face was so mangled from a beer bottle they assumed; they were having a hard time identifying the victim. Your heart pounded so loudly, Blood trying to reach your head filling your ears, rushing like an ocean and beating like a drum. You had done this. You had destroyed any facial recognition of him… all by your hand. The thoughts came in like a flood. The father of your child. What kind of monster were you?
A loud knocking on your door brought you back, making you jump and spill coffee down the front of John’s shirt. Quickly jumping up to look through the peephole, two officers stood waiting. Like the good girl you were, you opened the door for them.
“Morning Ma’am, may we come in?” They politely asked. Giving a wide birth on the door, you obliged.
“We’re here to notify you of some news…”
Afternoon had rolled around. You sat outside waiting for their vehicle to pull up. John had kept his promise to you, and Abel had called you shortly after the officers left. After Abel had passed the phone back to your husband he asked about your visitors. Finding it strange that you had not told John about the officers stopping by yet to give you a death notification, you still told him about it.
One of the officers had known John, his name Alex Keller, a detective for the force. Alex had called you by your maiden name, politely you corrected him and explained how you were freshly married, what your new name was and who you married.
“Have known John for a long time. Good man.”
Maybe Alex had called John to let him know he met you and what had happened…
Seemingly they asked a few questions about your personal life with your ex. How long you had known him, how you had known him. The basic stuff. News to you however, your ex had been estranged from his family for years now. He had no relationship with them whatsoever. They had tried to reach out to his parents, but they had cut him off due to behavioral problems. How ironic his own knew what kind of person he was and chose to do nothing about it. All the officers were looking for was a few answers and a place to do a proper death notification.
“Do you see it possible that he could have been in involved in a bar fight?”
“Yes,” you honestly nodded.
“Did he have anger problems?”
“Yes.”
From there you told the tale of the physical and verbal abuse from the very beginning… all the way to his untimely end.
“Well Mrs. Price, we are sorry for your loss. At this time, it is still under investigation, but it appears to us that he was involved in a bar fight. Was attacked with a beer bottle and then strangled. His wallet was left behind with his ID, but nothing else in it. It looks to be a murder and mugging. Here’s our contact if you need anything else from us.”
It seemed so routine for them, like they had expected this outcome from you already. The innocent baby momma rid of the evil that plagues her and her child. Towards the end, it was like someone had held up a seashell to your ear. You could hear the conversation… but it was like they were so far away at the same time. Shock was settling in. Thankfully it wasn’t long after that, they had left your humble abode. Pleasantries exchanged and not even a suspect on the list…  How was this possible?
And there you sat on the porch, waiting in a chair outside… Counting your lucky stars you were not placed in a jumpsuit behind bars. Still wearing the guilt all the same. Your happiness finally arriving on 4 wheels as a little boy jumped out to greet you.
“Mom!”
John had stopped to pick up dinner. Your favorite to try to cheer you up and thank you for letting him go on a trip shortly after you were married.
Finding the words finally at the dinner table, you explained to him to the best of your ability about his father passing.
Abel took it in stride. Yes, he was hurt and disturbed someone could do this his father, but he was the sweet boy you had raised after all. Abel did start asking a few questions, where John thankfully took over for you. He could tell it was hard for you to lie to Abel about what had really happened. It was something you would never ever tell him, wanting to take it to your grave now. John and his boys being the only ones who knew what had happened. Of course, none of them saw the sin in it like you did, they only saw justice. Simon, in fact telling you once that if was not you that really killed him, it was Ghost himself that had. Like it was a joke, trying to make you feel better. All it could do was place a sad smile on your lips.
“Worlds better of without him.” John had grumbled into your ear once you were both settled into bed, hand rubbing up and down your sides. That was the moment you tried to explain to John, it was not the fact that it was the man that had hurt you over and over since you were a teenager, but the fact it was a human life in general.
“Happens every day. Eventually bad behavior is answered one way or another.”
“But it makes me bad too.” You argued in a whispered hiss to him.
“No, it makes you a mother willing to defend what is hers. You really expect me to believe that you were goin’ to let him take you away from Abel and I? He paid his consequence. We could have worked it out like adults.” His hand had found your ring finger on your left-hand stroking over his mother’s band, something he seemed to do when you or he needed soothed.
Reaching for his hand, you realized it had a wedding band in return. Pulling it up out of the sheets glancing at it, knowing you had not given him one yet. It was opal on set in gold that matched yours.
“Had it made with the stone that Abel got on his field trip. The maker rushed it for me so we could match.”
“It’s pretty…” you whispered, holding it up yours. Husband and Wife finally made whole. Married for convenience for you, convenience you would ironically not need any more since your ex was dead.
It wouldn’t change anything for you though, you would pick John over and over in this lifetime and the next. He had shown you loyalty and love in a time and place no other stranger would… Except the other three of John’s that made it clear they envied their Captain that is. Who knew a group of men could care so much for a woman in dire need of it. Perhaps soldiers made the best lovers when created correctly? Who knew.
Life had changed so much in just a few years. Thinking back, you had always just pictured yourself working and slaving away at the diner. Yes, you were grateful for it, but a part of you would always want more for yourself and Abel. Here it finally was. In a new strong and sturdy house John had built for you. Working part time at the diner now, home at night with Abel and John. Sometimes John would be gone for months at a time, not always able to communicate with you either. Worry sometimes would fill your mind, but he always found his way back to you.
On one of his returns, he had given you a child. Now round with his seed, ready to pop he sat with you at the hospital. This time was entirely different. Instead of having to do it alone here John was with you. Not able to go to every appointment, he at least made the milestone ones. When worry and panic would rise within you from the pregnancy, he would quell it down. Thumb rubbing across your wedding band making you reach for his to do the same. Life was perfect. Honestly it left you confused on what exactly you had done to deserve such an outcome, but maybe if you didn’t question it, whatever greater force was out there would let you keep it.
Being thankful rewarded you with a healthy, beautiful little girl, a branch off John’s tree. Her bright blue eyes identical to his with his heavy brown locks. After all John had given you, you let him name her. A man of pattern and devotion, he named her after his mother. Sarah. So here you sat… babe bundled into a blanket in a rocking chair watching John and Abel out in the yard. No longer haunted, you were protected and loved. More importantly though, Abel and Sarah would be defended for their childhood. Something that was not provided to you or John.
Life is good.

Heroes, Gods, and the Invisible Narrator
Tumblr media
Slay the Princess as a Framework for the Cyclical Reproduction of Colonialist Narratives in Data Science & Technology
An Essay by FireflySummers
All images are captioned.
Content Warnings: Body Horror, Discussion of Racism and Colonialism
Spoilers for Slay the Princess (2023) by @abby-howard and Black Tabby Games.
If you enjoy this article, consider reading my guide to arguing against the use of AI image generators or the academic article it's based on.
Tumblr media
Introduction: The Hero and the Princess
You're on a path in the woods, and at the end of that path is a cabin. And in the basement of that cabin is a Princess. You're here to slay her. If you don't, it will be the end of the world.
Tumblr media
Slay the Princess is a 2023 indie horror game by Abby Howard and published through Black Tabby Games, with voice talent by Jonathan Sims (yes, that one) and Nichole Goodnight.
The game starts with you dropped without context in the middle of the woods. But that’s alright. The Narrator is here to guide you. You are the hero, you have your weapon, and you have a monster to slay.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
From there, it's the player's choice exactly how to proceed--whether that be listening to the voice of the narrator, or attempting to subvert him. You can kill her as instructed, or sit and chat, or even free her from her chains.
It doesn't matter.
Regardless of whether you are successful in your goal, you will inevitably (and often quite violently) die.
And then...
You are once again on a path in the woods.
The cycle repeats itself, the narrator seemingly none the wiser. But the woods are different, and so is the cabin. You're different, and worse... so is she.
Based on your actions in the previous loop, the princess has... changed. Distorted.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Had you attempted a daring rescue, she is now a damsel--sweet and submissive and already fallen in love with you.
Had you previously betrayed her, she has warped into something malicious and sinister, ready to repay your kindness in full.
But once again, it doesn't matter.
Because the no matter what you choose, no matter how the world around you contorts under the weight of repeated loops, it will always be you and the princess.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Why? Because that’s how the story goes.
So says the narrator.
So now that we've got that out of the way, let's talk about data.
Tumblr media
Chapter I: Echoes and Shattered Mirrors
The problem with "data" is that we don't really think too much about it anymore. Or, at least, we think about it in the same abstract way we think about "a billion people." It's gotten so big, so seemingly impersonal that it's easy to forget that contemporary concept of "data" in the west is a phenomenon only a couple centuries old [1].
This modern conception of the word describes the ways that we translate the world into words and numbers that can then be categorized and analyzed. As such, data has a lot of practical uses, whether that be putting a rover on mars or tracking the outbreak of a viral contagion. However, this functionality makes it all too easy to overlook the fact that data itself is not neutral. It is gathered by people, sorted into categories designed by people, and interpreted by people. At every step, there are people involved, such that contemporary technology is embedded with systemic injustices, and not always by accident.
The reproduction of systems of oppression are most obvious from the margins. In his 2019 article As If, Ramon Amaro describes the Aspire Mirror (2016): a speculative design project by by Joy Buolamwini that contended with the fact that the standard facial recognition algorithm library had been trained almost exclusively on white faces. The simplest solution was to artificially lighten darker skin-tones for the algorithm to recognize, which Amaro uses to illustrate the way that technology is developed with an assumption of whiteness [2].
This observation applies across other intersections as well, such as trans identity [3], which has been colloquially dubbed "The Misgendering Machine" [4] for its insistence on classifying people into a strict gender binary based only on physical appearance.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This has also popped up in my own research, brought to my attention by the artist @b4kuch1n who has spoken at length with me about the connection between their Vietnamese heritage and the clothing they design in their illustrative work [5]. They call out AI image generators for reinforcing colonialism by stripping art with significant personal and cultural meaning of their context and history, using them to produce a poor facsimile to sell to the highest bidder.
All this describes an iterative cycle which defines normalcy through a white, western lens, with a limited range of acceptable diversity. Within this cycle, AI feeds on data gathered under colonialist ideology, then producing an artifact that reinforces existing systemic bias. When this data is, in turn, once again fed to the machine, that bias becomes all the more severe, and the range of acceptability narrower [2, 6].
Tumblr media
Luciana Parisi and Denise Ferreira da Silva touch on a similar point in their article Black Feminist Tools, Critique, and Techno-poethics but on a much broader scale. They call up the Greek myth of Prometheus, who was punished by the gods for his hubris for stealing fire to give to humanity. Parisi and Ferreira da Silva point to how this, and other parts of the “Western Cosmology” map to humanity’s relationship with technology [7].
However, while this story seems to celebrate the technological advancement of humanity, there are darker colonialist undertones. It frames the world in terms of the gods and man, the oppressor and the oppressed; but it provides no other way of being. So instead the story repeats itself, with so-called progress an inextricable part of these two classes of being. This doesn’t bode well for visions of the future, then–because surely, eventually, the oppressed will one day be the machines [7, 8].
It’s… depressing. But it’s only really true, if you assume that that’s the only way the story could go.
“Stories don't care who takes part in them. All that matters is that the story gets told, that the story repeats. Or, if you prefer to think of it like this: stories are a parasitical life form, warping lives in the service only of the story itself.” ― Terry Pratchett, Witches Abroad
Tumblr media
Chapter II: The Invisible Narrator
So why does the narrator get to call the shots on how a story might go? Who even are they? What do they want? How much power do they actually have?
With the exception of first person writing, a lot of the time the narrator is invisible. This is different from an unreliable narrator. With an unreliable narrator, at some point the audience becomes aware of their presence in order for the story to function as intended. An invisible narrator is never meant to be seen.
Tumblr media
In Slay the Princess, the narrator would very much like to be invisible. Instead, he has been dragged out into the light, because you (and the inner voices you pick up along the way), are starting to argue with him. And he doesn’t like it.
Despite his claims that the princess will lie and cheat in order to escape, as the game progresses it’s clear that the narrator is every bit as manipulative–if not moreso, because he actually knows what’s going on. And, if the player tries to diverge from the path that he’s set before them, the correct path, then it rapidly becomes clear that he, at least to start, has the power to force that correct path.
While this is very much a narrative device, the act of calling attention to the narrator is important beyond that context.
Tumblr media
The Hero’s Journey is the true monomyth, something to which all stories can be reduced. It doesn’t matter that the author, Joseph Campbell, was a raging misogynist whose framework flattened cultures and stories to fit a western lens [9, 10]. It was used in Star Wars, so clearly it’s a universal framework.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The metaverse will soon replace the real world and crypto is the future of currency! Never mind that the organizations pushing it are suspiciously pyramid shaped. Get on board or be left behind.
Generative AI is pushed as the next big thing. The harms it inflicts on creatives and the harmful stereotypes it perpetuates are just bugs in the system. Never mind that the evangelists for this technology speak over the concerns of marginalized people [5]. That’s a skill issue, you gotta keep up.
Computers will eventually, likely soon, advance so far as to replace humans altogether. The robot uprising is on the horizon [8].
Who perpetuates these stories? What do they have to gain?
Why is the only story for the future replications of unjust systems of power? Why must the hero always slay the monster?
Because so says the narrator. And so long as they are invisible, it is simple to assume that this is simply the way things are.
Tumblr media
Chapter III: The End...?
This is the part where Slay the Princess starts feeling like a stretch, but I’ve already killed the horse so I might as well beat it until the end too.
Because what is the end result here?
According to the game… collapse. A recursive story whose biases narrow the scope of each iteration ultimately collapses in on itself. The princess becomes so sharp that she is nothing but blades to eviscerate you. The princess becomes so perfect a damsel that she is a caricature of the trope. The story whittles itself away to nothing. And then the cycle begins anew.
Tumblr media
There’s no climactic final battle with the narrator. He created this box, set things in motion, but he is beyond the player’s reach to confront directly. The only way out is to become aware of the box itself, and the agenda of the narrator. It requires acknowledgement of the artificiality of the roles thrust upon you and the Princess, the false dichotomy of hero or villain.
Slay the Princess doesn’t actually provide an answer to what lies outside of the box, merely acknowledges it as a limit that can be overcome.
Tumblr media
With regards to the less fanciful narratives that comprise our day-to-day lives, it’s difficult to see the boxes and dichotomies we’ve been forced into, let alone what might be beyond them. But if the limit placed is that there are no stories that can exist outside of capitalism, outside of colonialism, outside of rigid hierarchies and oppressive structures, then that limit can be broken [12].
Tumblr media
Denouement: Doomed by the Narrative
Video games are an interesting artistic medium, due to their inherent interactivity. The commonly accepted mechanics of the medium, such as flavor text that provides in-game information and commentary, are an excellent example of an invisible narrator. Branching dialogue trees and multiple endings can help obscure this further, giving the player a sense of genuine agency… which provides an interesting opportunity to drag an invisible narrator into the light.
There are a number of games that have explored the power differential between the narrator and the player (The Stanley Parable, Little Misfortune, Undertale, Buddy.io, OneShot, etc…)
However, Slay the Princess works well here because it not only emphasizes the artificial limitations that the narrator sets on a story, but the way that these stories recursively loop in on themselves, reinforcing the fears and biases of previous iterations.
Critical data theory probably had nothing to do with the game’s development (Abby Howard if you're reading this, lmk). However, it works as a surprisingly cohesive framework for illustrating the ways that we can become ensnared by a narrative, and the importance of knowing who, exactly, is narrating the story. Although it is difficult or impossible to conceptualize what might exist beyond the artificial limits placed by even a well-intentioned narrator, calling attention to them and the box they’ve constructed is the first step in breaking out of this cycle.
“You can't go around building a better world for people. Only people can build a better world for people. Otherwise it's just a cage.” ― Terry Pratchett, Witches Abroad
Tumblr media
Epilogue
If you've read this far, thank you for your time! This was an adaptation of my final presentation for a Critical Data Studies course. Truthfully, this course posed quite a challenge--I found the readings of philosophers such as Kant, Adorno, Foucault, etc... difficult to parse. More contemporary scholars were significantly more accessible. My only hope is that I haven't gravely misinterpreted the scholars and researchers whose work inspired this piece.
I honestly feel like this might have worked best as a video essay, but I don't know how to do those, and don't have the time to learn or the money to outsource.
Slay the Princess is available for purchase now on Steam.

gortash & the steel watch hcs ramble
thinking about how in that universe specifically it’s literally entirely one man that starts the process of industrialisation… how insane and more importantly terrifying it is that gortash is essentially creating a mechanised police state with the steel watch all under his control to control.
with some of his other inventions being shit like the scrying eyes or that submarine skype call thingy, i can also imagine that they definitely capture and maybe save pictures or even footage besides just “regular” extreme surveillance everywhere. maybe there are also like. integrated facial recognition, blood, fingerprints, etc etc scanners. every person in baldur’s gate is sure to have some kind of file on them in there somewhere at least. recorded usual schedules that automatically alert gort and activate a watcher to keep a closer eye on someone who doesn’t adhere to those.
that’s the thing with fash cunts though isn’t it. he himself creates a myriad of problems/violence, general feelings of unsafety and terror-inciting chaos to make his horrible creations not only accepted, but wanted by the general population. not that he ultimately cares even one bit for people’s approval or disapproval for his plans—he will do whatever is necessary to realise them and in his ideal world people wouldn’t even be capable of such things anyway—but turning more and more people into nothing but willing tools in his hands which know how to work and shape everything into the (machine’s) ideal design for it is certainly useful, and it’s always about usefulness with him isn’t it.
also one more quick note i mentioned it earlier but i fully believe that gortash sees this whole causing terror shebang as more of a. making something, namely the “problems with free will/all those illogical feelings and urges/people not controlled by the one superior, himself/the machine”, that is already there merely more obvious to the general public. shining a light on it and immediately presenting himself as judge, jury and executioner, someone who steps in to fix malfunction rampant in the world—the solution to this problem.

Microsoft says it’s making its new Recall feature in Windows 11 that screenshots everything you do on your PC an opt-in feature and addressing various security concerns. The software giant first unveiled the Recall feature as part of its upcoming Copilot Plus PCs last month, but since then, privacy advocates and security experts have been warning that Recall could be a “disaster” for cybersecurity without changes. Thankfully, Microsoft has listened to the complaints and is making a number of changes before Copilot Plus PCs launch on June 18th. Microsoft had originally planned to turn Recall on by default, but the company now says it will offer the ability to disable the controversial AI-powered feature during the setup process of new Copilot Plus PCs. “If you don’t proactively choose to turn it on, it will be off by default,” says Windows chief Pavan Davuluri.
In a welcome & surprising move, Microsoft actually listened to the shitstorm of complaints it received upon announcing Recall. So now they're encrypting the Recall snapshots, and requiring "proof of user presence" before granting timeline access. Via facial recognition(?!!).
Which is slightly better than nothing.
Obviously, the best solution would be for Windows to NOT take invasive, risky snapshots of your desktop every 5 seconds. But then again, I am not Windows chief Pavan Davuluri, answerable to millions of AI-crazed techbro stockholders so what the fuck do I know?

So happy that the requests are open! ☺️
Could you write to Timo inspired by this photo? Maybe a couple’s vacation or a honeymoon trip 👀

More of This - Timo Meier
Have to be honest, if you had picked this one, his blurb would have been absolutely FERAL. But this one spoke a lot of sweetness to me. Which is excellent! I am in need of some comfort and honestly just a back rub 😩
Word count: 1.2k
Warnings: swearing, mentions of sex
The Spring sun is a welcome warmth against your pale cheeks as you sit by the end of an unused ski-lift. Snow is still on the ground, but this end of the ski runs are closed for the season.
“Espresso for my stunning wife.” Timo murmurs, placing the brown cup in front of you. Your eyes visibly brighten at recognition of both the coffee and the man to your right. You turn your face, tiling it up to catch his lips on yours. You smile against his mouth, wrapping your fingers around his neck. He cups your cheek in return.
“Thank you, babe.” You say as he pulls slightly back. He goes in for one more press of your lips together. Your eyes stay closed for a few more moments after he pulls away. He is smirking, sitting in his seat, adjusting the blanket the resort gave you both before you walked out to have coffee.
“Why are the ski runs closed down here?” You wonder, noting there are people skiing on the next mountain over.
“Maintenance. They’re having ice issues and that makes it tough to ski.” Timo says, blowing into the steaming lid of his cup.
“Oh.” You nod in understanding. Except you don’t ski, but Timo grew up doing it. He offered to teach you while you two were in the Alps this weekend, but you wanted to spend your time doing other activities.
He pulls his phone out of his pocket, beginning to scroll through a few apps. His thumbs pad into the screen like he is texting. His lips move as he mutters to himself. You watch, soaking in every move of his facial expressions, thankful for the time you have together this weekend. It was a long, tough season for the Sharks. Both of you need to re-group and this luxury resort in the Alps was the perfect solution.
One of his hands wanders up to tap against his chin and mouth. His pointer finger brushes over the softness of his plumped lips, gliding against the tiny divot in the middle of his bottom one.
“Sorry, baby. I’m just double checking our reservation for dinner tonight.” He says when he catches you grabbing your phone out of your pocket.
“I don’t mind.” You assure him, bringing your phone up to take a few discreet snaps. Your big grin gives you away as he brings his espresso to his lips for hot, quick sip.
“What are you doing over there?” He asks, setting his cup back on the table. He brings the blanket on his lap further up his body after resting his phone face down.
“Taking pictures of you for the ‘gram. Need everyone to know who you belong to, looking this good.” You bite your lip as you bring your phone back to your lap.
You bounce your knees as you flip through the different filter settings. You nod in approval after finding one that perfectly brightens his handsome face. Satisfied with the tinting, you hit post, instantly having twenty likes filter into your notifications. You curl your shoulders in when a large shiver ripples through you.
“You look cold, baby. Come sit on my lap.”
You glance around, recognizing there are only a few other people out here with you two. You shuffle around, careful to not trip over the blanket that drags on the ground around your feet. You settle onto his lap, grateful for his thick thighs creating a sturdy spot.
“Oh, look. The boys are in Mexico.” You scroll through Instagram, swiping to show the rest of his teammates celebrating the end of another grueling season. Timo and you opted to head back to Switzerland right away to spend as much time as possible with his family. You have to admit you’re a little jealous of the warmth they get to enjoy. “Do you wish you were there?”
“No. You here with me is all I need.” His large hand comes under the blanket, clasping your thigh. You look at him like you’re not buying it. “Nothing to be jealous about when I woke up naked next to you this morning.” He wiggles his thick brows at you.
“Last night was amazing.” You whisper back to him, dropping a heavy kiss on his mouth. Your fingers work their way up his neck, dipping slightly below his turtleneck to check on the two rashes you marked him with on his lower throat. Your eyes are devilish when they meet his.
“You did those on purpose… brat.”
“Only for you, T.” You lean forward, biting his lip and tugging it to earn a little moan.
“Behave.” He quietly demands as a family of three walks by.
“Why? If I don’t, that could be us.” I smooch his cheek, turning to watch the little girl swing between her parents.
“I don’t want to share you yet.” He presses his nose between your breasts over your jacket, whining when he can’t get as deep as he wants.
“Me either.” You admit honestly. Babies one day, way in the future when you’ve lived and traveled and loved a little bit more.
“Show me the picture you took.” He asks, sipping up his drink carefully. He reaches across the table to hand you yours as well. You open your phone again, giving him your instagram so he can see it. He smiles. “I look the best when I’m with you. Let’s take one together.” He brings his hand out as you get situated, pressed cheek to cheek.
“We going soft smiles or?”
“Big ones. Huge, like the night I begged you to marry me.”
“Ah!” Your eyes widen and a large laugh shakes you against him.
“God, you are perfect.” He muses against your cheek as you look down at the screen. It’s like you’re seeing yourself for the first time. Your eyes are squinty and stunning. Small creases form at their corners while a slight wrinkle crumples your nose from your laugh. You look so beautiful. And then there is your husband, who is looking like the happiest man this side of the Atlantic. “Send that to me so I can post it.” You do so, then stuff your phone back into your pocket so you can snuggle into him better.
“What do you want to do today?” He asks, cold nose brushing your temple as you lay against his shoulder.
“You.” He chuckles, giving your waist a squeeze in acknowledgement.
“Later. Before then?”
“Still you.” Your tenacity has him smirking. “How about a gondola ride? The view is going to be incredible with the fresh snow.” You pout back at him causing his teeth to scrape over his bottom lip. “We can ride by ourselves, maybe get a little handsy. You could ride something else…?”
“I’m in!” You clap your hands together excitedly.
“Okay, but first, more of this.” He clinks your paper cup with his then leans forward to softly make out a little more.
