"Hate me, baby, maybe, I'm a piece of art"
27+ Tiffany Blews (pun on Tiffany Blue, absolutely genius) on Fall Out Boy's controversial fourth album Folie a Deux are easily one of the best songs in their discography. Combining everything that makes fob so special in an unforgettable two song run.
Tumblr media
27
One of my favorite fob songs period. Genuinely cried when some other city got this song for their Magic 8 Ball suprise song (happy 4 u,, but it should have happend to me :3). This song has one of fob's best lyrics
"If home is where the heart is then we're all just fucked
I can't remember, I can't remember
And I want it so bad I'll shoot the sushine into my veins
I can't remember, the good old days" --- I am going to try to articulate this well but putting the first I cant remember to set up the good old days line is simply genius. I mean, you could interpert it as that or as he can't remember where his heart is, either works honestly and that is genius.
"My mind is a safe, and if I keep it then we all get rich" the way Patrick sings get rich scratches my brain so good. I love the imagery in the chorus, it's not 100% actual imagery of like a phsyical setting it's more metaphorical but it still paints a vivid picture so like let's relax here on the technicalities...
.
.
THE GUITAR SOLO RAHHHHHHHHH
.
Ending the song reiterating "if home is where the heart is" creates a loop that would allow you to play this song for hours on end, but why would you do that when it seamlessly transitions into Tiffany Blews?
Tiffany Blews
Fame sucks!
The concept of not being a crybaby, but being the crybaby. Oh wow, i can feel my long fingernails tapping against my bald head. This song has so experimental compared to what they had previously made. The lyrics are so clever.. they definitely tried to emulate this throughout MANIA with Wilson and in Stardust with Heartbreak feels so good…..But like the lyrics say, this song is a CLASSIC it sounds so timeless and nostalgic at the same time I just love her, she is very gorgeous to me <3
"dear gravity, you've held me down in this starless city"
I misheard this first as darling, then starlit, and finally as starless, lol, love the lil wayne feature!
:) I love how Folie had so many random cameos like Wayne and...... brendon urie...WHATEVR WHATEVA the woke mob cannot take 20 dollar nosebleed away from me

@lastdaysofwar, Day 9: Compatibility or United/Divided (Newt Geiszler/Hermann Gottlieb)
Note: My soundtrack while writing this was YYZ by Rush. Not really punk, but I think Newt would be a fan (secretly, Hermann, too.) I love Rush, and I especially love the way the drums and guitar play off each other in this song.
There is no way they’re compatible, it occurs to Newt as he adjusts his squid cap and watches Hermann do the same. He drifted with a kaiju once already, and it almost killed him. And now here’s Hermann trying to be the big damn hero, to save the day by sharing the neutral load, but how the fuck are the two of them supposed to drift together? Best case scenario, the neural handshake doesn’t take and they’re thrown out of the drift before it can begin. Worst case, they fry each other’s brains faster than the kaiju would.
Stuffy, dour, genius-but-in-a-boring-way Hermann Gottlieb has no business in Newt’s head. Their time working together has more than proven that. They may have found their way into a working partnership, however reluctant on both sides—they may, half the time, approach something resembling actual friendship—Newt might even, gun to his head, admit that he has a real emotional investment in this guy—
But that’s not enough. Liking, caring, wanting this to work is all well and good, but it won’t make them click. Newt was told a long time ago that he’d never have a drift partner, and nothing about him has changed. Nothing ever will.
“You ready for this?” Newt asks. Hermann barely looks at him, aloof right up to the point of connection. He mutters his barely audible assent, and Newt’s gut twists. He has to go into this again, this storm of alien minds that wants him to die screaming, and with Hermann by his side, nothing is going to change. They’re only going to hurt him, too.
But they have to go in. They have to do this. Together. And hope that at least one of them comes back out.
Fortune favors the brave.
“Initiating neutral handshake in five - four - three - two - ”
A-one, two, three—
Beat.
The drift is a cacophony, and at first it’s all Newt. Wailing electric guitars, leaping from key to key, one sick riff bleeding into the next, a half-finished phrase here, a downshift there looping back and around again, verse-chorus-verse abandoned to the chaos of - this, him, this is Newt, all power chords fighting for dominance, for volume, for speed. He’s blowing out his amp, and his mind fucking shreds.
Newt is nineteen again, sweating under stage lights behind the mic, pouring his heart out to his tens of adoring fans—
And under it all is the steady tap, tap, tap of chalk on a chalkboard. Just that, measured, precise, soft as a ticking clock, the quiet order of a man who has never wanted to take center stage.
Newt is front and center, playing to a screaming crowd—
The kaiju - their masters - screech their joy and hatred as they rush the stage - they love him - they hate him - they’ll tear him apart—
The chalkboard drumbeat blossoms, driving faster - louder - hi-hats crash in competition with Newt’s too-much-to-call-it-a-melody as blood flies from his fingertips. He half-turns, and Hermann is there, sharing his spotlight, drumsticks a blur under the lights. The dude is punk rock and he doesn’t even know it.
The perfect rhythm draws Newt up short - reins him in - forces him to match tempo - and they’re making fucking music all of a sudden, all Newt’s wild, unformed thoughts pulled tight, stretched out into one coherent melody over an unrelenting beat.
The drift lays down a bass line between them, supporting the melody and reinforcing the percussion’s rhythm. Drum solo chases guitar solo and back again, and then they roll together, pushing, rising, soaring together to ever greater heights. In perfect sync.
The crowd goes wild.
All the information they need floods their brains in the few seconds before they’re cut free of the drift. They have it, they know how to save the world and they just have to get back and do it, and all Newt can think to say is—
“You didn’t tell me you could play the drums.”
“I—can’t? What are you talking about?” Hermann mumbles, slumping against Newt’s shoulder as their helicopter leaves the ground, all his professional reserve wiped away.
“In the drift! We were playing to a sold-out crowd!” Newt has to yell to be heard over the rotors, and his throat is already as raw as if they’d played that show for real.
“We were not,” Hermann argues.
“We were!” Their song is still echoing in his head, and, dude, if they live, he has to get it down on paper. It’s better than anything he ever wrote.
“Newton—did you hear the drift as music?” Hermann asks.
“Yeah, didn’t you?”
“No—it was a diagram—of a bridge strong enough to reach across to them, the kaiju’s masters. Not so rigid as to become brittle, but not so pliable that it wouldn’t hold. A feat of engineering, and the materials—” He breaks off, frustrated with his own metaphor. Hermann Gottlieb does not stray from the literal if he has a choice.
“That’s beautiful, man.” Newt wraps his arms around his drift partner, and wonders how he ever could have doubted. No matter how you look at it, the two of them combined are greater than either one alone. They are an alloy. They’re a song. They’re drift compatible, and they’re going to save the world.
Rock on.

I watched Hadestown live on the West End and I just wanted to ramble because it changed my life.
Melanie La Barrie is an absolutely electric Hermes. she's charismatic and fun and toes the line between a god enjoying the beauty of the present and a god, tired and resigned, that knows how the story ends. she is an interlocutor that invites the audience into this tale whilst being fully There with the characters. a moment that broke me was Road to Hell (Reprise) where she says the 'alright' twice to Orpheus in a way meant to comfort him rather than in a detached manner to the audience. It was like a grandmother calming down her grandson and it was devastating. I love how she stands in the shadows in scenes where she isn't involved and checks her pocketwatch often - it's a reminder of her omniscience and meta-theatrically, how she's an occupant of present stage-time as well as story time. A story time that spans thousands of years, from oral Greek myth, to Ovid, to this present retelling set in Depression Era America.
I love the jazz. the fact that the unbroken song is reflected in music genre and the presence of the band onstage with the rest of the cast. there were just little moments (like at the very beginning, Hermes goes to Eurydice and asks her if she's ready and they smile at each other before the former makes her way frontstage) where the Stage of it all is made clear. it's a story about telling stories and the cast is as important as the dramatis personae in its retelling. like the blurring of character and actor - when Our Lady Of The Underground takes time to give the band their flowers. it's so important in a story focusing on the average person and survival and creation of art. And it's just so genius to juxtapose those on stage that have access to the audience (Hermes and the band) and those that do not (the chorus and mortals). also the juxtaposition of Hades and Persephone (gods whose lives persevere in the changing of seasons and the cycle of death) and Orpheus and Eurydice (whose lives end but stories continue in this loop that inadvertently perpetuates hope by retelling in a different kind of immortality). Don't even get me started on flower symbolism. also also the band gave an encore performance and i love them sm like trombone guy?? mvp.
Some small things about the rest of the cast too: Hades was an absolute standout. he wasn't my favourite listening to the soundtrack a million times but he's a scene stealer and i loved every bit of him. just the way the actor carried himself - his walk, the set of his shoulders - was fucking perfect. tortured villain and sleazy capitalist at once. when he danced with Persephone he ended up doing this silly little jig that she followed along with after giggling a little and like. AAAAA?? And his 'I don't know' to Orpheus was so genuine. When he let Orpheus go his handshake was stretched long and he clutched him just that little bit longer because he knew that they wouldn't make it and. ugh. i'm so emotional. Persephone? transcendent. her voice. her moves! again, tortured and so, so fun. when she started dancing with Hades she couldn't look at him for awhile and her face was this beautiful mesh of emotions that transitions to pure joy. oh she was perfect.
I didn't get Irish Orpheus but Swing Orpheus was wonderful as well. He has the same puppy dog energy as Reeve!Orpheus but he was less dreamy/head-in-the-cloudsy. Wait For Me (alongside fucking gorgeous lighting and staging) and If It's True?? URGH. Actually lifechanging live experience. I'm not the same person I once was. also Eurydice was fantastic. she was British and while the cadence/accent took me a few songs to get used to, she brings a very different hard-tortured energy to Eurydice - it was an interesting and fitting interpretation of the character. this was reflected in her vocal texture as well with a much more desperate and belt-y sound than Noblezada!Eurydice. I love them both though, she was wonderful. ALSO she and Orpheus kept having these sweet little eye-contact interactions onstage when other things were going on and argh i love these goobers. a sad tale and a tragedy :,)
i have so much more to say and this is getting too long but i also wanted to mention that the theatre was full of audible gasps when Orpheus turned around. just. what an incredible, immersive, emotional experience. i'd one thousand recommend seeing it if you have the opportunity.

First Line Analysis
Thanks @kiwiana-writes for the tag! Apparently even though I've been back in fandom for two years, that doesn't equate to ten fics. So this includes the opening line from one of my ancient Battlestar Galactica fics. Which, honestly stands up IMO.
RULES: post the first lines of your last 10 fics/chapters posted on AO3 (if you have less than 10 fics posted, post the first lines of all your fics) and try to draw some conclusions.
Lines
The Co-captain D-men Reveille (™, patent not yet pending) spits out a rapid guitar riff, the CD alarm and selection of Haus mix CDs randomizing their wake-up soundtrack to Infinity Guitars. (Friday Prime - a Check Please Ransom/Holster time loop fic)
The call comes at 3am. (finally (already, always) - a Carry On Snowbaz fic but let's be honest a love story to lesbian mums, still a WIP)
The ocean is a warped mirror, and the sun is glancing into my eyes from its every shifting peak. (Feet Burried in the Sand - a Carry On Snowbaz fic)
If you've never seen a MG in person, you aren't ready for it. (Three Months or 3,000 Miles - a Carry on Snowbaz fic)
It's very hot. (Visible at sea - an In Other Lands / Turn of the Story Sunbrat fic)
The day I became a Sophomore, as our dorms rotated down, my room was suddenly twice its previous size. (A Dangerous Affinity - a Carry On x Naomi Novik's Scolomance Snowbaz epic)
The first thing I noticed about Agatha was the line where her jaw slopes into her neck, the interplay of tendons and skin and bone: the sternocleidomastoid, the hyoids, the styloid process. (scapulae - a smutty femslash offshoot of A Dangerous Affinity, so technically a Carry On fic featuring Agatha/OC)
It’s been ages since I’ve walked in on Snow crying into his pillow. (Good at Something - a Carry On Snowbaz blowjob epic)
We’re leaving the movie theatre when Penny sees the ice cream shop. (Baby, it's cold - a Carry on Snowbaz+Stormchaser fluff-fest)
He wouldn’t say his ears are ringing, but there’s something vibrating just like that, his consciousness modulating on its axis. (An Arranged Meeting - a Battlestar Galactica Starbuck/Apollo sex club fic)
Analysis
Apparently I have two types of opening lines: SNAPPY AS FUCK and heavy with figurative language.
Literally none of these tell you who the POV character is. Apparently I like to keep that information close to my chest.
Most of these seem to be about establishing concrete details that will be relevant to the story. Only 2 and 8 don't do that work.
Looks like I'm into showing not telling. In context all of these lines except for 9 have meaningful emotional weight, but I'm going to make you work for it.

I’m continuously relistening to The Ithaca Saga and oh my god?? I just keep noticing new old motifs/themes/tunes/whatever reappearing now and again??
Like
The suitors going “Time is fleeting, it’s running out. Time to be the man of the house” as a call back to Man of the House
The suitors doing the background “Penelope, Penelope” is both great and terrible. Terrible because intentions, right? Because for the entire musical that’s only been used in the context of Odysseus trying to get back to his wife, and now these bastards use it?? But it’s also great because this is the theme that’s been used for Penelope since the beginning and it hits because we finally met Penelope! She’s not just the wife Odysseus is trying to get back to, she’s this character with her own songs and struggles and-
“Waiting, waiting~” is kinda in the same place any Open Arms reference, where it just. Hurts. Also Open Arms reference slipped in Odysseus (which apparently used to be named King? But I like the name change because now Odysseus is being introduced like a monster. Like Polyphemus, and Scylla, and Charybdis), both makes me cackle and deeply sad. Cus on the one hand. Damn. He’s truly let go of that mentality. He’s truly changed. We begin with him giving mercy as the default(? I don’t know how else to word it) to actively deny it when begged. But also. It’s the suitors. I want to see them get wrecked worse than the sirens or Poseidon were
Also in Hold them down, they bring back that “Where is he, where is the man who-“ that I think is technically from Man of the House, but is also referencing Legendary
Now. Odysseus (formerly King).
It might just be me, but the opening line sounds so much like Man of the House, while the opening (riff? Sound? Whatever) sounds like The Horse and The Infant
The chorus chanting “Ody-sseus” is giving god entrance, like tell me that’s not how Poseidon was introduced in Ruthlessness
The “Keep your head down he’s for the torches” has a very similar sound as Keep Your Friends Close. Might just be me. Might just be coincidence.
Telemachus’ intro/instrumental break!! There’s so many motifs or whatever (quick thought, Legendary, from what I can tell) packed in there but!! It sounds so good I just want to loop a ten hour long recording of just that!!
The “hold him down! Hold him down!” Also sounds super good, and like. Frantic? Almost. It might just be me projecting, but it kinda feels like the suitors singing it are either mentally going “fucking he’ll do it we need some type of advantage” or “we’re so dead. We’re even more dead now that we’re going after his son, instead of just plotting”
Also that fucking groWl (you know the one) just. Holy shit
(We’re skipping I Can’t Help But Wonder)
The Ruthlessness theme when he’s recounting what he’s done
When he’s talking about the bed, and how he’d have to cut the roots, it almost sounds like the beginning of Six Hundred Strike, the “you don’t seem to get it, I can’t afford to die. Because I will get back to my son, and I will get back to my wife”
The instrumental of Just A Man shows up at the end of Would You Fall In Love With Me Again
I love this musical so so much

The Tortured Poets Department Review
Now that I've sat with it for a few days, I actually have some coherent thoughts on TTPD, though I won't know where it falls in my overall rankings for a while.
Overall
The thing people aren't getting is that this is Taylor Swift. This is, quite honestly, one of the most quintessentially Taylor albums she's ever released. It has the lyricism of Folklore, the sensibilities of Evermore, the self-awareness of Reputation, the storytelling of Fearless, the specificity of Debut and Speak Now, the vagueness and metaphors of 1989, the synths of Midnights, the rawness of Red. It's American Gothic. It's fictional. It's nonfiction. It's confessional, it's scathing, it's cringe, it's clever, it's more than a little crazy.
She admitted things in this album you couldn't waterboard out of me. People say it's the most unlikeable she's been, but it's also the most human. She's not censoring herself to keep her likeability. That's brave.
Fortnight [feat. Post Malone]
Do I like it? Yes. Do I think it should have been the album opener and the lead single? No, probably not. I'm planning on doing a track by track breakdown later, so I'm not going to go in depth on the lyrics here, but there are some interesting metaphors. You can tell she thinks she's slaying the "I want to kill her" line, and while she is, I don't think she's serving as much as she thinks. A vibe. On my playlist but not on repeat. 7/10
The Tortured Poets Department
The title track. This should have been the opener and lead single. It makes a much better mission statement for what this album is than Fortnight does. Who's gonna hold you like Taylor Swift? No fucking body. The production is.... twinkly? for lack of a better word. She's being specific and metaphorical, making cultural references, and she's self-aware--this is Taylor Swift, people. A vibe. Not on repeat, but only because I have others I prefer, not because I don't love it. 9/10
My Boy Only Breaks His Favorite Toys
It's a metaphor, it's tongue in cheek, it's self-aware, it's heartbreaking, it's a bop. She knows the relationship is toxic and killing her, but it wasn't always, and so she keeps holding on hoping it will go back to the way it started. At the end, she accepts that it won't be going back. Lyricism? Peak. Beat? Peak. On repeat. 10/10
Down Bad
Incredibly real and human. She's reflecting on the feelings of being love bombed then left behind, how it feels so good until it really, really doesn't. A call back to New Romantics. The lyrics say sob, the beat says dance. 10/10 on loop.
So Long London
A track five. Does it live up to the name? I'm not sure. It's sad, certainly, but it doesn't have the rawness of All Too Well or My Tears Ricochet. It's more resigned and tired. She's accepted that the relationship has fallen apart and now she's just tired, frustrated, and ready to be done. Even if she's sad, she still has some control, and that makes it a little easier. Drags on a little long for me, but the flip of "so long" is definitely clever, and she has some very relatable lyrics, and I see the purpose to it being on the album. 7/10.
But Daddy I Love Him
Love Story's older sibling. Again, I won't get too into it bc I want to do a breakdown. She's self-aware but it doesn't help because she's just desperate to make her own decisions. Calling out conservatives and small-town churches. Cringe in places but that's our girl. Minus a point for the baby lyric being in the chorus instead of like. the bridge. Half a point back bc you SHOULD have seen my face. 9.5/10.
Fresh Out The Slammer
This has some juicy information, but I'll save that for the breakdown. Very metaphorical, but also specific enough we know what's going on. Excellent story-telling. Really brings us into the headspace she was in at the time. I don't have it on repeat but through no fault of it's own. 10/10.
Florida!!! [feat. Florence and the Machine]
Flop. The drug metaphor isn't that creative and while there are a few decent lyrical moments, it's just not that good and the soundscape isn't interesting enough to redeem it. That said, even a bad taylor swift song is better than a lot of other artists. 5/10.
Guilty As Sin?
I don't think I've ever heard a song approaching this issue (emotional infidelity) in this way. It's got all the hallmarks of a Taylor Swift song: pop culture references, references to her past discography, religious symbolism, an outro that matches the intro. It's painfully honest, unapologetic, and human. A bop. 10/10.
Who's Afraid of Little Old Me?
Mad Woman and Mirrorball are shaking in their boots. It's giving horror, it's giving Salem Witch Trials, it's giving a reflection on fame and its effects. It's terrifying, it's haunting, it's beautiful, it's heartbreaking, it's unhinged. 10/10 doesn't feel like high enough.
I Can Fix Him (No Really I Can)
We're at the saloon and I'm happy to be there. Another song that is quintessentially Taylor: country sensibilities, religious themes, self-awareness, story telling, change in the outro, bad decisions made out of love. Not my favorite but only because I like other songs better, not because I don't like it. 9/10.
loml
This may be the saddest song she's ever written. Two meanings to "loml" as there should be. She's heartbroken and it's breaking me too. Vocals are giving "I'm on the verge of tears." Story telling, religious themes, metaphors. It's scathing, it's haunting, it's confessional. I'm not crying you are. 10/10.
I Can Do It With A Broken Heart
Lyrics are giving heartbreak, sound is giving bop. So powerful and relatable. Excellent storytelling, and tells us so much about her headspace. We know exactly what she's talking about. It's giving Youre On Your Own Kid. 10/10.
The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived
The storytelling, imagery, details--all peak Taylor. It's scathing, it's haunting, it's Taylor Fucking Swift. Wild to me that Mattie Healy's family listened to the album and were relieved because it could have been worse when this was in it. This, the take town of the century, could have been worse. Legendary. 10/10.
The Alchemy
If one more person tries to claim this is about Travis Kelsey there will be blood. "Oh but the football metaphor--" she's been doing that for years. Miss Americana, anyone? She's weirdly obsessed with high school football. This isn't about Travis, it's clearly about a rekindled relationship, not a new one. Travis can't spell "heroine" (I don't think he's stupid, but his tweets have proven he cannot spell). Metaphorical, clever, and definitely tells us her mindset. A bop. 9/10.
Clara Bow
This song. The Lucky One, Nothing New, they're both shaking in their boots. A reflection on what it's like to be a pop culture woman, the lies they tell you, and the promises they pull from you. Taylor saying her own name in a song. AND it's the album closer. 10/10 isn't nearly good enough.
Extended Album
The Black Dog
The storytelling, the way she took a single moment of stalking her ex and turned it into a beautiful lament on what it's like to lose someone and imagine what they're doing now, then in the outro brought it back to that one instant--and people say she can't write. Religious themes, references to past songs, this has it all. 10/10
imgonnagetyouback
Before people go around accusing her of copying Olivia Rodrigo, this would have been written before Get Him Back came out, so no copying occurred on anyone's part. They each took the concept and turned it into two very different songs. Imagery, story telling, craziness, a BRIDGE. 9/10.
The Albatross
Story telling, metaphors, literary references, clever turns of phrase, a change of meaning in the outro. Either a reflection on the way she's frequently depicted or is fictional, most likely a reflection on the way she's depicted through a fictional character. Just feels a little distant to me. 8/10
Chloe or Sam or Sophia or Marcus
Heartbreak, metaphors, bisexuals--what more can I ask for? All while she's imagining her ex moving on and thinking about how it fell apart. Objectively good but just not that interesting to me. 7/10
How Did It End?
Another that's objectively good but just not clicking for me. Story telling, metaphors, the lyricism is slaying. Asking how it ended through the lens of a gossip uninvolved in the relationship, but not being sure how it ended herself. 7/10.
So High School
Glitter gel pen. Objectively, not that creative or interesting. It's just a bit of fun. She's not taking herself seriously, she's writing silly song about how she feels like a silly teenager in love, and it does have some interesting lyrics. It's a bop. You know Travis heard this and was like "this is great babe I love it." Objectively, like a six, but this song has a choke hold on me for some fucking reason. 9/10.
I Hate It Here
Everyone's talking about the racists lyric and I swear reading comprehension is gone. Piss on the poor. This is for the girlies who daydream 'too much', who devoured books in middle school, who took things to seriously and too literally. 10/10.
thanK you aIMee
This song is so funny to me. "Here's thirty songs about my mental state and btw fuck Kim K." Serving metaphor, lyricism, and homicide. A mythology reference. A scathing takedown. 8/10 an icon.
I Look In People's Windows
I've not seen nearly enough people talking about this one. It's so relatable, honest, and unhinged. Storytelling, imagery, wondering what if. Heartbreak. I've never heard a song take this approach to these emotions. 9/10.
The Prophecy
The desperation, the feeling of hopelessness, they hit hard. She's reflecting on the repeating patterns of lost relationships, and how it feels inevitable at this point, and how she's willing to beg for it. She's losing hope, and willing to do just about anything to have it again. 10/10 devestating.
Cassandra
I am a mythology nerd at heart, so using Cassandra as a metaphor was a guaranteed way to get me obsessed with a song. She's serving lyricism, story telling, imagery, metaphor, mythology references, anger, sadness, what more could I ask for? Heart breaking. 10/10
Peter
Literature references, lyrics, heartbreak. Objectively, it's very good, but I'm bored. 7/10.
The Bolter
Storytelling, imagery, lyrics, literature references, the Bolter serves it all. I'm not entirely sure what it's about but it's a bop. I think it's fictional, but it's Taylor reflecting on her own life through the lens of this fictional girl. 9/10
Robin
I. Don't care. It's probably got great lyrics or something but I skip before I'm through the first verse because I'm just bored. Sonically, boring. Lyrically, the first verse doesn't redeem it. I've listened all the way through once and it was enough for me. It's not egregious, it's just not interesting. Flop. 4/10.
The Manuscript
I also skip this one but I have more of an appreciation for it than I do for Robin, just because of the subject matter. I have my theories on what it's about *cough* All Too Well Ten *Cough*. I like this as an album closer as well. French press lyric kills me. 7/10.

Hiii I have another song suggestion. Honestly by Thørns. It reminds me of your comphet KakaRin ship.
your taste in rin songs is as impeccable as always. it's incredible really you straight up never miss. like.
Tumblr media
lol. ok,
Tumblr media
is this not her suicide? like, that was the one moment (from her pov) that she was entirely honest about her feelings and therefore flaws. and then she died. as planned. unintentionally taking all of her flaws to her grave because no one noticed.
the chorus is interesting in that depending on the line it could really be from like. kks's pov or rin's.
Tumblr media
like, i'd say this one is rin-core (although a strong argument could also be made for kks)
Tumblr media
and then this is funny, because neither of them feel romantic attraction towards each other. like. both of them circling the issue hoping the other is also not in love? idk
Tumblr media
and of course. perhaps. the thesis of rin's problems (the thesis is that she is not in fact being honest). all of the things she wants and all that she doesn't!!!!!!! god

said i may rant ab emily axford and i will. it could just be the people i'm following, but i haven't seen as much love for doomsday diaries as her naddpod music! and i'm obsessed with doomsday diaries! it honestly might be my desert island album. it's so fucking good. i cannot say how much i love it.
not only are the songs so fucking good, they tell a story! It's got plot! she wrote a cute-sounding apocalypse album with a whole ass storyline and i love it. just. listen to doomsday diaries for me.
below the cut, i will be ranting about specific songs because i can't not. i need to. in conclusion, emily fucking axford.
evacuation?? are you kidding me with the "wear comfortable shoes" being the last line of the first verse and of the whole song? AND AND "and don't bring the memories, delete and erase, they'll only hold you back, you haven't got the space" i want to scream that part. i want to scream the whole chorus. "there's too many ways, to protest and fight for, the better days" and then the lull of "but they're gone, you should be too" the contrast brings me pure joy. glee.
and one of my favorite songs ever. is this love or mass extinction. could quote whole verses. "the flirting and the phone calls, and that cataclysm" and "my heart is a kingdom, that's been pillaged and razed" and the "serendipity or global calamity?" come. on. i love this song. it's a song about having love so world-shattering and loving someone who has burned the world down. i can't express. it was the top song on my spotify wrapped with something like 125 listens. hours i have spend listening to this song.
i love love love love the beginning of grey goo. "2023 and a biotech named steve, fueled by good intentions and a curiosity" i want to type out all of these songs in their entirety, but this is a highlights reel ok. "i look at all your freckles and your dimples and and your scars, the colors and the shapes that made you who you are, let the robots turn our every cell into their skin, but i will never forget the landscape of your skin" an entire verse because. "but i will never forget the landscape of your skin." again, could give the whole song. so good.
robot rebellion. the dancey lil dance i do to this song. upbeat and pretty to have lines like "'cause i am not afraid to die, long as you're here by my side" and "so go ahead and do your worst, 'cause i ain't givin' in without a fight" and the last verse! "we can run we can run we can run, and we can make our home amongst the trees, and i'd be happy there just you and me" pls i love it
bangers all around. i can do more of this. i can do this for almost every song. i'm stopping because god that's a lot of words but look at me. look at me and listen. this album? cannot get enough love. pls. and the cover is my favorite thing in the whole world. a selfie from a low angle of a poorly-lit emily, with sunglasses on, completely neutral, with beautiful tree branches and a blue sky above her and a comet photoshopped above her head and the words "Doomsday diaries" in the top right corner, and the loop of the y in doomsday is also the d in diaries. it's perfect, no notes. album cover of all time.

Oh here’s a little playlist of songs that have been stuck in my head as I spiraled into the insanity that was My Hero Academia ending (while also being a LOV stan), and by playlist I mean here’s some bullshit that matches little AMVs I don’t have the resources to make:
"What I Did For Love" from A Chorus Line
You know the quote “the love was there. it didnt change anything. it didnt save anyone. there were just too many forces against it. but it still matters that the love was there” (pretty sure I just reblogged a post with it)?
That’s this song
I can picture Twice singing it and the rest of the LOV joining him because yeah, they stayed together and fought and killed and sacrificed and died for each other… for the love and care of each other
And none of them regretted it, and none of them will forget it
"The Show Must Go On" by Queen
There’s a post by @villainsandvictimsalliance back when AFO was in control that talked about just how much this song fit Tomura Shigaraki and it’s absolutely correct even now
So much Tomura imagery in here: flaking and falling apart, smiling in the face of death, not knowing another purpose besides performing the role assigned to you, fucking butterflies!
It’s Freddie’s final song and taking that knowledge to combine it with Tomura’s death can be used as a double whammy
I remember thinking about how, in the finale of the song’s music video, a clip of the band making a goofy little pose is looped as clips of other silly or triumphant moments are interspersed until the door is closed and the video is over… and this is all while the vocals just repeat “go on… go on… go on…” like a broken record that can’t be played anymore
Nowadays I can’t watch that section without thinking about how Tomura probably had a similar montage in his head as he died, just remembering his precious league and the time they spent together before he turns to dust and disappeared
Someone better at analysis than me can do a think piece on how this song is Tomura’s song for the final arc because all I can do is point and scream
"Road to Hell Reprise" from Hadestown
It’s a sad tale, it’s a tragedy
But also you know damn well most of us are gonna tell it again anyway
Heck I can see the story of the LOV being passed down in universe as part precaution and part tragic societal failing to be fixed
“On the Loose” by Saga
A song I want more people to know about
Literally the LOV, no one can stop them now tonight they’re on the loose!
Also the lyrics are clearly (to me at least) about two or more people sharing the experience of being a bit too weird/crazy/bizarre for society’s standards and deciding to say fuck it
If nothing else then please listen for the dueling synth and guitar
“Who Lives, Who Dies, Who Tells Your Story” from Hamilton
The finale of this musical happened to get in my brain years ago during the MVA arc as a tragic end AMV idea then I lost it
And now that Tomura Shigaraki is dead and people are making documentaries about his legacy…
And since Spinner canonically wants to become an author to spin the tale of Tomura…
Yeah ok this is a spinaraki song now, with the LOV members who survived assisting while the ones who died look on while they wait to be reunited since “it’s only a matter of time”
God the tragic spinaraki romance angle makes this hit harder since Spinner really is a grieving spouse at this point who will likely live more of his life without Tomura than the one year he WAS with him and wants to preserve the legacy of his gaymer side
Please please please see my vision for this oh my god
"Witch Hunt" by Rush
I hear this song and think of the civilians and pro-heroes specifically
How this was really close to their mindset and how the LOV ended up being doomed by it
Just feels bad man
“Yer So Bad” by Tom Petty
This is here just for the chorus and because it sounds like a song Twice or Mr. Compress would sing at the bar after kicking the jukebox in the corner
The sentiment of how “everyone else in the world is off-putting but our evil selves are vining with each other and doing great together” is nice you know
"Space Age Love Song" by A Flock of Seagulls
Ok this one is purely for the spinaraki vibes that just ooze off this song
I’ve liked it for a while but with how we recently discovered that Spinner and Tomura’s relationship ended in tragedy, the song fits them now more than ever
It’s got 80s synth in spades which sounds so very video game like (hell there’s a ‘pew’ that goes off in time to the beat that sounds like an arcade gun)
Then the lyrics come in and they’re so simple but encapsulate just how fleeting the time they had together was… and how a connection was made in spite of lost time
I’m not kidding about the simplicity, every verse starts and ends with the same framing lyrics, then the two lines in between adds just enough to rip out your heart if you’re wearing spinaraki goggles
You know what fuck you here’s the lyrics:
I saw your eyes
And you made me smile
For a little while
I was falling in love
I saw your eyes
And you touched my mind
Although it took a while
I was falling in love
I was falling in love
I saw your eyes
And you made me cry
And for a little while
I was falling in love
I was falling in love
Falling in love
Falling in love
Falling in love
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
What I’m trying to say is PLEASE listen to “Space Age Love Song” and maybe make a spinaraki AMV to it… and send me that AMV… please?!

hihihi do YOU have any favorite songs/why do you like them :)
okay so .. yes and no
I have current favorites but they change so frequently that it feels wrong to call them "favorites" but here's my current faves + why I like them
Gushers - between friends
I really like between friends generally, something is so tragic and messy but easy and simple about the kind of relationships sung about. It drives me a little crazy tbh. The gentleness about Gushers and the almost underwater quality of the music akdbsjs. I can't it's soosososo good
beautiful waste - Beauty School Dropout
Honestly the line "I get heart palpitations when I think of you naked" goes so hard. Once again it's tragic. It's one-sided. It's in my percico playlist for a reason.
Exit Wounds - Placebo
Again with the chorus being a banger line "want you so bad I can taste it" um ??? Excuse me??? That makes me feel physically sick /positive. Also! Another one-sided but this time! They're exes! Also the line "And at night, under covers, as he's sliding into you, does it set your sweat on fire?" HELLO???
STUPID IN LOVE - MAX, HUH YUNJIN
Absolute devotion and recklessness and oh my godddd. This is also in my percico playlist cuz thats really all I listen to. The songs a banger or it wouldn't be in this list but like "let's get married in Vegas, we don't need a guest list, we dont need to think too much" nnghhh it's sooo good I love it so much.
Falling Behind - Laufey
Laufey is another one of those artists that I just really like their music. Falling behind is especially great bc it's about feeling like you're 'falling behind' bc everyone else is in a romantic relationship. "Cause the sun's engaged to the sky" even inanimate objects are depicted as being romantically involved and as an aromantic this really hits home
Hold Me Like A Grudge - Fall Out Boy
Honestly? This song was picked out for my percio playlist because it fit so well and after listening to it a couple more times it grew on me. It's a fucking banger. It's really good music to scream-cry to (or imagine ur fav charcters scream-crying to) Fall Out Boy has mid ass lyrics honestly but the chorus is good (ie the title of the song)
dui - estelle allen
Fully in love with this song. It has an eerie feel to it (amplified by the dhmis-esque music video) and something about the sound of blood-curdling screams really adds to a song. It kinda hurts to listen to though 💀💀
HAHA - Lil Darkie
"When the jester gets mad, put a gun to his head" followed by mocking laughter goes so hard. So hard. This whole song is amazing 10/10 no notes. I love me a good power-ballad. Especially when looking at his other music which is SO different
OXOX - Dutch Melrose, Lost Boy
here's where I reveal that I really like overtly sexual songs. "That push, that pull, that force that draws me into your direction" ughhhh it's such a good song especially to play on loop. Idk I listen to really sexual songs when I do hw to Pavlov myself into not hating it. It kinda works.
Sloppy Seconds (Ick Pt. 2) - Lay Bankz
And here's another really good, really sexual song that I listen to while I do hw. "Fuck her, flip her, bend her backward, baby put your back into it" banger!!! It's a good song!! Perfect for playing on loop (it's like three verses that repeat)
(There's probs more but idc go check out my Spotify @crumboat (it has the same pfp) if you wanna see more of my impeccable taste <3)

TOP 5 “EZIO’S FAMILY” VERSIONS + TOP 5 TRACKS
Reviving this list from @thatcrazycrowgirl because AC OSTs need love.
Ezio’s Family - Favorite Versions:
Main Theme (AC Rogue) I'm a sucker for traditional Irish instrumentals, and you can feel the adventure of the North Atlantic through it. It doesn't just convey Shay's sense of freedom, but his will to fight against great odds and tragedy (and the cold). The way it builds up, then when the beat drops, it explodes into the Irish whistle, backed up by a drumbeat that sounds like both a heartbeat and the beating of your oars against the waves -- and then, as it ends, the music disperses into what sounds like a migratory flock of birds flying overhead.
Tumblr media
2. Ezio's Family (Origins Version) (AC Origins)
It's a really tired but determined version of this song. You can feel how the chasm between Aya and Bayek is only as deep as their love. The things that bring them together are the same things that separate them: Their love for Khemu, the common folk, and Egypt. AC Origins is so perfect because it conveys the thing we love about the franchise the most: The ability to feel the will of the people reaching out from thousands of years away. This is the sound of hope. I am constantly mentally reliving the scene when the chorus plays for the first time in the game (notice how on the title screen, they always fade out the tune before the chorus actually drops, so they tease you with the signature beginning of Ezio's Family, but only the beginning):
"Good Bayek of Siwa. What are you of now?" "A new creed. Ours is finished."
Tumblr media
3. The Flight (AC Odyssey)
Just like Legend of the Eagle Bearer, you can feel the literal odyssey in it. You feel the tides under your ship. Also, those vocals? Fucking fantastic. I thought I was done with Ezio's Family remakes when Odyssey came out, but then I actually listened to it. Oof. Amazing.
Tumblr media
4. Main Theme (AC Chronicles: India)
I'm a sucker for strings. Like, this is why I love Shao Jun's version, but I've spent my whole life listening to pipa and gu zheng strings, ykyk, so I love it a lot, but AC India gives me just the right amount of familiarity in terms of string instrumentals while giving me the sense of a completely different world. It's the novelty for me. It's also just super chill and puts me in a good headspace, while still ending on an exciting, high note. There's also a tempo at the beginning where I feel like I'm listening to a clock tick.
(Oof, there's no gif for him. Sadge.)
Tumblr media
5. Earth (AC 2)
Yo, when I tell you that the first time I played AC 2 and Ezio put on his father's Assassin's robes, and this played, I lost my goddamned MIND. I used to listen to this song, Ezio's Family, and Venice Rooftops one after the other like they were all one really long song, on loop, to get myself to fall asleep. I feel like I'm leaping from rooftop to rooftop, until I've achieved full flight. Ugh. Just. Perfection.
Tumblr media
Honorable Mention: Somewhere between AC Unity and AC Syndicate versions, because hot DAMN, you really feel the beat of their cities in them.
Additional Favorite Tracks (in no particular order):
I Walk on Your Water (AC Origins) Bro, the first time I heard this when AC Origins came out and I was playing the soundtrack while I cooked, hearing this song was like a religious experience. And when the scene where Layla first experiences Aya's memories and says the line herself -- breathless, exalted -- was like the Second Coming.
Tumblr media
2. Fight Club (AC III)
RATOHNHAKÉ:TON MY BELOVED. Yo, when I tell you I was in love with this game and its music and main character YEARS before I even touched ACIII, I am not fucking kidding. I listened to this shit on repeat. It pumps me up like nothing else. It motivates me at work, when I'm writing, and when I'm training. This song is the shit. AND FUCK YEAH I LINKED YOU TO THE EXTENDED VERSION WHAT OF IT. It's high-energy and determined and FUN. It's like a really nice round of sparring where you beat the shit out of your opponent but you're both happy about it.
Tumblr media
3. Committee of One (AC Unity)
Yo, when I started stalking the King of Thieves and this beat dropped, I knew this was gonna be a good fucking game. I felt the thrill and danger, but I also felt unstoppable. I was fully immersed in Arno strolling into the den of the rats, not to mention how the Unity version of Ezio's Family starts playing once you've killed the King and escape. I ran into Templar thugs on the street on purpose just to hear this while they chased me. That abyssal heartbeat (AC Unity soundtrack has a living, breathing pulse) that falls into the familiar strains of that violin, followed by that harpsichord? Chef's fucking kiss.
Tumblr media
4. Legend of the Eagle Bearer (AC Odyssey)
You can feel the waves under your oars! You can hear the sun rise over the horizon as the water changes colors! You can hear the relentless drive of your rowers as dawn breaks and the early-morning silence slowly dwindles down. And when you break into a full flight, it feels like you've gone wild, on the chase.
Tumblr media
5. City of Rome (AC Brotherhood)
Oldie but goodie. It's so calm and inviting, but promises you adventure. You really feel like you've stepped into a city that's already ancient, but has so much to offer.
Tumblr media
Honorable Mention: Master Assassin from AC Brotherhood and Parting Glass, Anne Bonny in Black Flag version.
I am tagging @sprawca @especiallyhaytham @teecupangel @canonless5 @starpineninja but no pressure to do it! If I didn't tag you but you're also a trash Assassin's Creed aficionado, feel free to join in!

Fuck it Friday ✨
tagged by the lovely and impossibly talented @achillesbuck @spotsandsocks @buddierights 💕
I haven't written much this last week or so because I've been going through some stuff, so have one of my first Buddie fics that I'm still super proud of!
Doin' Something Unholy
aka, the one where Buck makes a thirst trap on tik tok and Eddie accidentally likes it
Tumblr media
It was one of those that started innocently enough, he was crinkling his eyes and nose, shuffling his shoulders a little with just his chest showing in the frame and giving the camera a little smile. After a few seconds the song dropped to lead into the chorus and the video transitioned to Buck under darker lighting, body illuminated and tensed, glistening with sweat. Eddie felt a flutter in his stomach as he watched Buck smirk and swipe his tongue over his bottom lip, he was wearing his turnout pants with suspenders, flexing his arms as he slipped them out from under the straps and puffed out his chest. His pants were unbuttoned, the band of his underwear sitting low and the lines of his hips disappearing below it. He lifted his arms to run his fingers through his hair, his abs tense and shimmering under the sheen of his sweat. And then the video looped back to the start. Eddie found himself watching it loop over a few times, shaking his head because really he should be ashamed that he was watching his best friend's body with such a lustful gaze, but hey, why else would he have posted it if not for people to look? He double tapped the screen to stop it from timing out, letting out a heavy sigh as he adjusted the waistband on his sweats. He told himself it was to release the pressure as the fabric grew tighter, but as he pressed the palm of his hand against the growing bulge, he relaxed his shoulder a little and let his head drop back.
Tagging these beautiful people if they would also like to (and haven't posted yet) 💕 @monsterrae1 @the-likesofus @ajunerose @shortsighted-owl @loveyourownsmiilee @jacksadventuresinwriting @elvensorceress @alyxmastershipper

ok full wayv album thoughts
blame it on my youth - the chorus is annoying the first time it hits but the rest of the song is SO GOOD..... the running synth in the back is so good and the bridge is INSANE..... and it sounds SO CHINESE like, it sounds exactly like what's popular in c-pop now. they were right -- this doesn't sound like old wayv at all, and i miss old wayv, but i'm not gonna lie. i love wayv 2.0 😰 they can stay, i guess
poppin' love - ok first of all. the signature sm entertainment buzz sound at the start of this song scared me so bad. but also WHEN YOU LOOKIN AT ME IM SO OFF MY FACE hell yeah every wayv album needs a cuntenserven hornysad song
ain't no thang - FUN..... HIGH ENERGY....... I NEED TO INJECT THIS SONG INTO MY BRAIN AND THAT MIGHT FIX ME
no one but you - probably my least favorite off the album, a little boring but still very enjoyable and cute. reminds me of something that'd be on exo's xoxo album.
invincible - first of all this song is so fun and second of all, we LOVE a fuck you song ... this is a song that can make me believe that wayv is not irrevocably fucked under sm entertainment <3
rodeo - cock music.... music to fuck and fight to.... beat goes hard, the producers knew the rapping would be bad so the made every other part of the song insane to make up for it. i thought i was gonna have a heart attack and die the first time the beat dropped. i haven't watched any of their promotional programs yet but i can't imagine how they're gonna convince me that this song isn't about riding dick.
moonlight - this is my favorite song off the album, and it has the most wayv 1.0 feel. it's got their signature sweeping orchestral instrumental and the dramatic prechorus to the vocal bridge w/ the xiao dejun signature belting. this would have kicked ass as a title track. from the very first millisecond this sounds like classic wayv
lighthouse - among my mutuals i am a noted ballad apologist... and i don't usually like wayv ballads (i hated face to face with a passion and similarly couldn't stand horizon) but this is good.... ballad-haters might quibble and say that all ballads are the same/boring, but i think this one doesn't fall into the low-energy pit that their others do. the chorus is super strong and memorable, and i can see myself reaching for this all the time. like, no ballads are high-energy, but this one has momentum!!
be alright - the obligatory feel-good concert closer of every nct album is the bane of my existence but i actually vibe w this one... the bass line is cute and bouncy and the chorus has those wayv orchestral instrumentals. i'm honestly so relieved that be alright was good, because it was potentially going to be the weakest link, as the feel-good closer always is, but yeah..... closing the loop and making this into a true no-skip album for me <3

hello i really really really really like the song bedroom community and i need to be autistic about it! what better place is there to do it than tumblr, eh? :3 fyi. i am not a very good musician and i know very little about actual music THEORY (didnt even do it for gcse lol) so forgive my poor vocabulary and my general ignorance, lol.
youtube
its this terribly emo style with this unabashed angst and cliché in its melody! it's clear glass beach is inspired by mcr because of this cover they did of welcome to the black parade - it influences their music in the BEST ways. like the scream at the end of the second chorus seems obvious but it makes me feel !!! so!!!! and using multiple voices in the end of the bridge with the "la"s is so classic but it fills me with so much Emotion. it feels like comradery. this bit of tune at the end of the chorus is like a punch to the gut to me!
Tumblr media
its so well paced as well. a bit faster, at it would be folk-y, a bit slower and it loses that frantic driving force of the rhythm guitar and the drums - its just the right speed to take you through the story and aghjasjhgds
i do love the instrumentation, too. its got those gooood smooth synths with fun basslines and crunchy rhythm guitars! AND the drumming is good (and sounds like it was recording irl rather than done electronically! :D check 1:42 - the ride cymbal has some good organic variation that indicates this) which i care about a lot :))
most of all, i like the lyrics. my interpretation of the song is a story of a trans girl who kills herself. of course, i am not trans, so i am not good at inferring which lines were written about her transness, lol. its the consensus of a lot of glass beach fans, though! anyway, here:
Tumblr media
it's almost mocking her in a way, here! the tone of the delivery is that shes "SO" depressed, and it states that she is naive: but that this is so genuine for her. it doesnt matter that its trivial, that a fly on the wall would judge the simplicity of her sadness, it is so real for her! she STILL sings, it's the only way she can cope. i just. you know when youre depressed and you cringe at yourself for your own incapability?? a different form of self-loathing, a loop of hating yourself because you hate yourself so much.
Tumblr media
and then, everything cuts out but the synths and the vocals - which just conveys SO much to me, because its like. stop the emo crap. stop the drums and guitar and fun riffs because this is sincere. this is her life. this is her trying to get her shit together and being too mentally ill to.
Tumblr media
AND LOOK! she's loved so SO much by the speaker. she ISNT useless like she believes herself to be. she laughs and is loved.
Tumblr media
but. but, but, but, but! it doesnt even matter how much she is loved or that her life is worth so much. shell never break out of her box, her bedroom, in this bedroom community. gahhh!
Tumblr media
like, here again: calling her a "stupid girl" to totally diminish her experience. "you probably caught this 'mental illness' from her. i bet youre faking, shes not a good influence." its so fucking mean and judgemental and it IS how she is treated!
Tumblr media
and this is my favourite section of the whole fucking song. as if, when she kills herself, it was inevitable. as if it was destiny that she should be so fucking miserable she had to. as if people had tried to help her. as if its her fault. because it WAS murder! to let this happen to someone without caring or catching them. and importantly - its as "they" stop to look: its a third party judging this event! its not her, or her dad, or the speaker who loves her so much, its "them".
Tumblr media
AND THESE LINES MAKE ME FERAL!!!!! to rifle through her journals and notebooks and diaries for her thoughts AFTER the fact. the care about her struggle AFTER shes dead. to violate her privacy to find words for a "liturgy" - its not what she wanted. does it even matter? it would fucking matter to her. and it transitions into a swung rhythm here rather than being straight - it's mirroring the relaxed tone of the lines! it's saying that this is so normal that it's casual and boppy. so, so, so, so, even after all this, shell never leave her bedroom in this bedroom community. shell always be trapped, because she was never able to leave. OUGH GOD.
AND THEN IT FUCKING TRANSITIONS INTO A KICKASS INSTRUMENTAL SECTION ??? LIKE. YES GIVE ME THAT SYNTHY BIT THEN THE ACAPELLA VOICES AND THE FUCKING PIANO-ASS-PIANO-SOLO.
and then it goes into those punchy "no"s and it feels like the singer is fighting something! like, they agree with themself by the end - "no, shell never leave her bedroom..." but its almost as if theyre trying to deny the tragedy! to resist the story! its so . anguished. god. and it does the tune again, and ends on something like wailing - the way the singer does "hates her life" makes me BELIEVE in it, yaknow ??
god. i listened to this song on my way to my first university open day and i was so, so scared. i heard the line "a girl who hates her life" and i thought, "hey, a song about me." i heard that she would never leave her bedroom floor. that she wastes all her fucking time. that she kills herself and people rifle through her diaries and notebooks for an explanation that isn't there because they don't want to see it. i listened to it on that school coach by myself on my tinny clip-on headphones (the ones that make me feel like an anime character) and i gripped that university prospectus and i tried not to cry! and i listened to it studying in the dark sixth form library and i listened to it on my good days out in the city on my own and i listened to it on nights i listed reasons not to kill myself over and over and over. and i showed it to all my friends and now i am showing to you! :))

Gods I have a couple of Akira the Don tracks stuck in my head from when he was active on Newgrounds, with NG flash animators like Wonchop collaborating on videos for "Clones," "Hypocrite," "Living in the Future," and "Drinking Song."
Anyway
Yesterday I was checking the lyrics for a couple of the aforementioned songs, and I went to Genius to see what people interpreted his lyrics as, and
they didn't
The notes on his lyrics are incredibly sparse.
"Clones" mentions that the chorus comes from "Clones (We're All)" by Alice Cooper (so does the music, which is just a loop of the first few bars of that song). It mentions that "Jubbly" is a reference to one of the catch-phrases of "Only Fools and Heroes" character Del Boy, "Lovely jubbly," and Del Boy's name starts the next line.
Nothing else.
So this morning I'm like, "well, let's look up the man's career" and pulled up his Wikipedia page, and
He has fifteen albums, five EPs, and also THIS:
Tumblr media
Fucking OUCH.
I had been thinking it would be fun to pick apart one of his songs and make blatantly passive-aggressive jokes about every single lyric, but do it in the style of a Lyrics Genius posting but FUCK now I just feel bad for the guy. Twenty years of this, he's still out there putting his music out for people to hear, and he's not notable? Jesus fuck.
He's produced two top-forty tracks, but he's not notable.
IDK where I'm going with this. Just.
There's something kinda depressing about all that.
