High Roller is a 550-foot tall (167.6 m), 520-foot (158.5 m) diameter giant Ferris wheel on the Las Vegas Strip in Paradise, Nevada, United States. Owned and operated by Caesars Entertainment, it opened to the public on March 31, 2014 as the world's tallest Ferris wheel. It is 9 ft (2.7 m) taller than the 541-foot (165 m) Singapore Flyer, which had held the record since 2008. Since October 2021 it is the world's second tallest Ferris wheel after Ain Dubai; however, since the latter’s closure in March 2022, High Roller has resumed its reign as the tallest operational Ferris wheel.

Harrah's Las Vegas is a hotel and casino centrally located on the Las Vegas Strip in Paradise, Nevada. It is owned by Vici Properties and operated by Caesars Entertainment. The property originally opened as a joint venture with Holiday Inn. Construction began in April 1970, and the hotel portion opened on February 1, 1972, as the Holiday Inn Center Strip. The casino portion, known as the Holiday Casino, opened on July 2, 1973.

Compared to other performance SUVs:

Porsche Cayenne Turbo (2024): 4.0L twin-turbo V8, 541 hp and 568 lb-ft of torque. While the Porsche offers impressive performance, the Trackhawk blows it away in terms of raw horsepower, which is key for straight-line speed.

BMW X5 M (2024): 4.4L twin-turbo V8, 617 hp and 553 lb-ft of torque. The Trackhawk is more powerful by 90 hp, which is noticeable, though the X5 M counters with more advanced suspension and handling tech.

Mercedes-AMG G63 (2024): 4.0L twin-turbo V8, 577 hp and 627 lb-ft of torque. The Trackhawk is again more powerful, but the G63 offers more luxury features and is known for its off-road capabilities.

Range Rover Sport SVR (2024): 5.0L supercharged V8, 575 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque. The Trackhawk’s engine is significantly more powerful, leaving the SVR behind in terms of sheer muscle.

Compared to sports cars:

Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat: 6.2L supercharged V8, 717 hp and 650 lb-ft of torque. Almost identical power figures, with the Hellcat offering a slightly more aggressive powertrain, but the Trackhawk has the edge in terms of versatility and cargo capacity.

Chevrolet Corvette Stingray: 6.2L naturally aspirated V8, 495 hp and 470 lb-ft of torque. The Trackhawk is much more powerful, but the Corvette is a much lighter, purpose-built sports car focused on handling, agility, and driving experience.

Ford Mustang Shelby GT500: 5.2L supercharged V8, 760 hp and 625 lb-ft of torque. While the Shelby has more horsepower, the Trackhawk offers similar torque and the advantage of an all-wheel-drive platform, providing superior traction for both acceleration and off-road conditions.

OSP ASKING FOR THE PUBLIC'S HELP TO LOCATE WANTED MAN

Suspect wanted for sex crimes in Oregon and Alabama

WASCO COUNTY, Ore. 9 Sept. 2024 – Oregon State Police and the Mobile (Alabama) Police Department are seeking the public’s help to locate Adam Renk (39) who is wanted in both states for sex crimes against child victims.

On June 21, 2024, OSP detectives responded to a sexual abuse disclosure made by a child. The child disclosed Renk as the perpetrator. Renk has since been indicted on multiple crimes against a child victim under the age of 12. He is charged with Unlawful Sexual Penetration in the First Degree, Sodomy in the First Degree, and Sexual Abuse in the First Degree.

As part of their investigation, OSP detectives learned Renk had been charged in another case involving a minor victim in Mobile, Alabama. The Alabama charges include Child Sexual Abuse and Torture involving an 11-year-old victim. The victims in the two states are not related. Alabama law enforcement agencies and the U.S. Marshals Service are attempting to locate Renk who posted bond in Alabama and was released from pre-trial custody.

Renk was last seen leaving Alabama on August 7, 2024. He has ties to Oregon and Wasco County. He is believed to be traveling in a converted Ford Ambulance that is now painted two-toned white over gray. Renk is a white male, 6 ft. 1 in. tall, 175 pounds, with blue eyes and brown hair.

Anyone with information about Renk’s whereabouts or information about possible additional victims is asked to contact the Wasco County Sheriff’s Office at 541-506-2580 or OSP Detective Cassie Bantz through dispatch at 800-442-0776 or by dialing *OSP (*677) on a mobile phone.

This was the first Portuguese lighthouse built "from scratch," although several earlier lights were installed in existing buildings. Spain's Cabo Finisterre (see the Western Galicia page) and Portugal's Cabo de São Vicente (see the Southern Portugal page) may be more famous as western endpoints of Europe, but Cabo da Roca, the "Cape of the Rock," is actually the westernmost point of the Eurasian continent at 9° 29.8' W. The Romans called the cape Promontorium Magnum--the Great Cape. In 1997 the town council of Sintra erected a plaque at the lighthouse that reads in part, "Cabo da Roca: Onde a terra se acaba e o mar começa" (Here ends the land and begins the sea), a line from the famous poet Luís de Camões. Despite this geographical significance, the light here is not as important to navigators as the lights of Cabo Carvoeiro to the north and Cabo Raso to the south. As a result the lighthouse was long neglected; not until 1897 did it have a Fresnel lens, and for the next 50 years it had only a fourth order lens. The station is staffed by a crew of three keepers. It is surrounded by a national park, the Parque Natural de Sintra-Cascais. Located atop a spectacular headland at Azóia, about 12 km (7.5 mi) west of Sintra.
