I finished my silk handsewn 1750s waistcoat from the LACMA pattern project!

I'm incredibly pleased with how it turned out, I really think it does the mermen and dragon silk justice

And even if I never End Up In The Circumstance(s) Where I COULD Become Pregnant in my life, I'd want the peace of mind anyway...

I've always felt disgusted that this is something my body is capable of. I want it to be MY body and not a site and vessel for potential tragedy in any direction. And I want it to be something permanent and not dependent on access to services/medicines or even laws!!! Dis is a gender affirming surgery for me honestly...

I just started Hyrule Warriors (the og) for the first time!!! I got the game secondhand and dusted off Ol' Reliable (WiiU) so I can finally see what the fuss is all about. I know it's a Fighting Game about an interdimensional war and watched like one video of gameplay maybe five years ago? But that's all I know going in.

(I also played a little bit of Age of Calamity on my brother's switch back when it came out, but I never could understand what the hell was happening on the screen at any given moment, so this is fairly fresh of an experience for me.)

Some thoughts!:

The game's art style, fighting gimmick, and cutscenes reminds me a LOT of Super Smash Bros for the Wii, specifically story mode

Link is indeed just as Sexy as everyone makes him out to be. His voice is nice to listen to and the Blue Scarf is quite fetching

Shiek is SO FUN TO PLAY AS and I love being in the Know about their identity because Impa keeps going "I sure do hope Zelda is okay :(((" and I'm giving Shiek the eyeballs 👁👁 like "when are you going to tell her"

I only know the barest barest bare minimum about Lana and Cia going in but I am liking Cia as a villain so far, the reality breaking is awesome and also her bird mask is cool as hell

A lot of people consider this the non-canon explanation for the converging of the timelines, and although I'm not really on board with the Timeline Convergence theory, I DO See The Appeal of this explanation because the cutscene where all the different worlds started to collide and Skyloft was on the same map as Twilight Princess's Bridge of Eldin,,, my inner nerd is screaming

The game unloaded a LOT of mechanics on me all at once, which was a little overwhelming, but I think I'm getting the hang of it just by way of spamming the hell out of my attack button and hoping for the best. I'm starting to learn which button patterns make for my favorite attacks and how the item switching and special attacks help in certain areas. I also read through the tutorials like 5 times each. Despite how much STUFF is going on at any given moment, Im getting the hang of it surprisingly quickly.

It's somewhat difficult to keep track of what the other warriors are saying in the corner of the screen while I'm trying to focus on killing enemies, but I really like how they keep you updated on what's going on all over the battlefield, so that you can react and strategize accordingly. Speaking of the battlefield, I'm SO BAD AT NAVIGATING THE MINIMAP

It didn't take me long to catch on about how to reclaim bases and outposts, and I find a lot of satisfaction in taking back land, especially with the variety of monsters we get from across the other games. Bosses will have the same weaknesses from their og games, and I'm having a blast trying to remember how I killed Dodongo or Gohma in Ocarina of Time so that I can kill them in this game too. It's so rewarding when I get it right!

I've just completed the Valley of Seers, and I'm gonna pick it up again tomorrow maybe! I'm actually really surprised with how much fun I'm having so far, since I'm not usually all that big on Fighting Games, but it definitely helps that it's Zelda specifically 😂

Holy wow I went downstairs from the 2nd floor to the first and my knees didn't feel like swords were jabbing into/under/over them!!! Apparently an hour in an Epsom salt bath is all it takes

Instead it was more of a pressy press feeling and less of a jabby stab feeling

(( So I've been getting even more into Mothership ( specifically, the TTRPG ) lately, and I've been really tempted to finally try my hand at running something. It's just hitting that sweet spot for me, of having a system that not only can run horror but is specifically designed to do horror ( which is more than I can say about more general and "universal" systems which claim to be able to run horror, but attempting to do so quickly reveals that these people aren't interested in horror in the slightest and it shows ), as well as having simple and light enough systems that can easily be added onto to become much deeper and more involved, on top of having a big enough 3rd-party scene to really showcase what you can do with all of it.

My main issue is still that Mothership is pretty indie, alongside my own choosiness about who I want to play with. Due to some past things, I've been hesitant around TTRPG circles, and I'm not particularly eager to hop into that fray again. But, again, I think I have way different tastes and can go way more intense in my horror in a way that rules out a lot of people around me, so that's an issue.

On a different topic, I've also found a YouTube channel that's reawoken my love for splatterpunk, in the sense that it's actually giving me access to material on which to read. I think it's charming, too, how everyone in the extreme horror community are seemingly all soft-spoken and just extremely polite. I keep having to turn up my volume because he talks so softly, and it's startlingly calm and relaxing for, you know, talking about extreme horror.

Make do and mend cont'd- Hob being self taught means he doesn't know any real terms for sewing. Has his own shorthand names for knots and stitches that he figured out himself, is a little sheepish when Binx explains the more common terms.

the first stitch hob ever learned, an intermittent suture, is named after the medic that performed it on him: (then junior, but by the time hob was a captain, senior) medic catgut. he refers to the stitch, as well as most medical stitches, as catgut knots.

i need finish reading this book because i got half way through and i really wanted to look up fanart because everything described sounded so cool but then i got spoiled for the ending of the first book and it just turned me off of reading it 😭 i really like gideon and harrow though and i was enjoying the book a lot !! so im going to give it another try on the train on my way to see my friend. theyr the one who gifted the book to me actually haha
