This absolute child
This is our shining light in the dark. He may not be the brightest bulb but he's got a real personality to lighten the mood.
For a kid who's both homesick and had daddy issues, he sure has some creative ways to maintain a positive attitude.

Today marks 10 years since the release of the Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster. That means it's a good time to revisit my last exploration of the iconic franchise.
To mark the 20th anniversary of Final Fantasy X-2 in 2023, I did a one-hour deep dive into the entirety of Final Fantasy X, Eternal Calm, X-2, Last Mission, X-2.5 and X-Will to answer one question: Why does no one seem to like FFX-2?
I look for the answer to this question and so much more in Final Fantasy X-2: The RETROspective!

What happened between January 2018 and July 2020?
I started my YouTube activities in 2008 and have been posting videos almost every year since. However, I didn’t upload anything in 2018 and 2019, and I remained inactive until August 2020. Some people who followed my videos had concerns about what might have happened to me, so I’d like to tell what was going on in 2018 and 2019, and why I decided to start posting videos again in 2020.
In short, my living situation changed drastically in 2018, leaving me unable to work on videos at all. However, I didn’t lose my drive to create; throughout 2018, although I wasn’t making videos, I kept my motivation alive by watching various AMVs, GMVs, Otomad and YTPMVs. Still, I had no time to actually work on my own videos. On top of that, I lost all my video source files from my PS2 in 2019, and with this , I started to feel like my passion for creating was fading away, and even thought about quitting altogether. During that time, I was taking on new challenges in my personal life, which was fulfilling, but it also made me feel a bit detached from creating music videos.
I eventually restarted video creation in 2020. The turning point was the COVID-19 pandemic, which placed major restrictions on daily life. I couldn’t go out, couldn’t see friends… All my usual things of enjoyment were gone. One day, while organizing my PC, I found project files of music videos I had made before 2017. These were files I thought I’d never use again, yet the moment I found them, I felt the spark for video creation reignite within me. From that day on, I began gathering everything I needed for production. I played and recorded videos from the FFX HD Remaster, but after a two-year hiatus, I had to relearn how to use the software, which slowed the making. Still, working on the video at my own pace, I eventually made my comeback in August 2020. I remember feeling joy, relief, exhaustion, and nostalgia—all very different emotions from what I had felt with previous uploads.
Years later, I’m still posting videos. I don’t know how long I’ll continue, but one thing I’m sure of is that as long as I have the will to create, I’ll keep going, no matter how my situations change.
youtube
This is the first video I posted after restarting my activities. I plan to write an article about this video eventually.
That's all for now. Thank you for visiting. See you next time.

[FINAL FANTASY X/X-2 HD REMASTER]
Opening Cinematic 2014
I got hyped up watching this intro, the same way I got fired up when it came out in 2001.
For the majority, Final Fantasy 7 was the game that started their love for the series, for me, this is it.
In my opinion, FFX has the best storyline; the best romance couple; best battle mechanics; and one of the best OST lineups, and my favorite among them is this one: Otherworld.

I finished playing Final Fantasy X (again)
October 22, 2023
Game: Final Fantasy X HD Remaster First Time/Replaying: Replaying Game Time: 40 hours Console: Nintendo Switch Started: December 5, 2022 Finished: October 21, 2023
I finished this game last year in February, but some time in December I got an itch to play it again. At the time of my initial replay, I didn't have a TV so I played the entire thing on my tiny Switch screen. Now that I had somewhere to dock the Switch to, I wanted to re-experience the story again on a big TV!
So yes, I started Final Fantasy X back in December 2022 and it's taken me almost a year to finish it. In my defense, I have been playing a lot of other games! FFX was sort of just a back-burner, in-between-playthroughs type of game.
However, a few days ago I picked it up and could not put it down. Once you get past a particular area (that blasts an annoying announcement on-repeat the ENTIRE time), the game is very fun and picks up speed as the story unravels. I also decided I wasn't going to "do everything" which threw out a lot of that anxiety.
I have a PS4 now, so I thought, "If I'm going to 'do everything' I might as well go for a Platinum trophy!" I'm glad the Switch doesn't have a trophy system because it lets you enjoy the games without worrying about marking tasks off a list, but with how annoying FFX's side-quests are, if you're going to put yourself through that pain, you might as well get some sort of accolade!
I have no idea when I will start my Platinum attempt, but I really would like to try one day. I've played this game SO many times sinc eI was a kid - why not? People on Instagram telling me I should go for an easier Platinum trophy not only annoys me, but also makes me want to do it even more.
SPOILERS START HERE
Anyways, the endgame of this playthrough was really exciting! I told myself I wouldn't be getting an extra aeons or any of the ultimate weapons, so it was nice just walking around, leveling up, and going into boss fight after boss fight.
Normally, I would have Yuna's ultimate weapon and her Break Damage Limit would save the day! But this time I didn't have that and I relied HEAVILY on Bahamut to save our skins.
Seymour #2 took me two attempts, the Zanarkand Guardian was one attempt, the Zanarkand Trials Glyph Monster Dude took me 3 or 4 tries, Yunalesca was one attempt (!), Seymour #3 was one attempt (!!), and Braska's Final Aeon was ALSO one attempt (!!!).
I was surprised I was able to do do the final leg of the endgame in one attempt without dying. Not to mention, whie fighting Braska's Final Aeon, he petrified Wakka and that man disappeared! I was tempted to restart the game but then I thought, "It's not like I'm getting any EXP from this fight!" So I BEAT THE GAME WITH TWO CHARACTERS ONLY. At one point, Lulu and Yuna had less than 200 HP and I was freaking out!
What saving me was summoning Bahamut once, getting LUCKY AF that he didn't die, dismissing him, then using Yuna's overdrive to summon him again. I also used Auron to zombie Jecht and that helped for awhile, and I used Tidus's talk command once and that 100% saved Lulu and Yuna from dying. *THANK GOD*
Here are my final stats:
While I was more critical of the game this time around (more on that in another post), I still enjoyed this game and it will always be special to me! It's interesting though, I used to cry a lot watching the ending of this game, but this time I didn't. It's official - I'm old lol
When you're young, losing the person you "love" seems like the end of the world, but as you get older you learn people come and go. Yuna, you are 17. You will find someone new!!!
I did, however, cry during that one scene watching Yuna's sphere of messages (after beating the Zanarkand guardian boss). IT IS SO SAD!!! 😭 I felt my throat closing up watching that (specifically the Kimahri part). KIMAHRI, YOU'RE THE BEST! I need to write a Kimahri appreciation post.

so like, i want an ff13 remake. not like ff7 remake where it's a total overhaul, and not a plain remaster either. something closer to zodiac age or the ffx/x-2 hd remasters, that offer not just higher fidelity but design changes that add something to the game. i am in love with the job system in ff12 zodiac age, i played enough ffxii to unlock new game minus, and i've been having a pretty good time.
because like, yeah ff13 is underrated, and i'll defend it to my grave. but there are problems with it. a lot of ideas, both mechanical and narrative, get underutilized. the controls are clunky and never quite gel. the insistence on esoteric proper nouns makes the story more difficult to follow than it has to be. and the pacing is all over the place, less in a way that feels exciting and more like two separate games grafted onto each other.
these are issues that i'd love to see handled in a remake, but they're also incredibly difficult to do without a substantial amount of work. the changes in ff12 zodiac could be done by five programmers and a designer, it's mostly just changing ui and mechanics, and there aren't that many assets you have to make. the changes i'd want for ff13 would have to involve recording new lines, adding new areas, or heavily rearranging what's already there. the ff10 and 12 remasters could mostly port the changes from the already existing japan-only International versions. 13 also has one of those, but it just adds subtitles for different languages and a new easy mode.
the fact of remaking or even remastering ff13 is that there's not that much incentive to do it. it's like rereleasing sonic 06, the game's got Infamy. and even if a lot of that infamy is unfair, and comes more from a cultural standpoint than anything rational, it's hard to justify rereleasing the second biggest laughing stock of the series, unless they either A) are confident that it'll be worth it financially, or B) just genuinely want to do it. i couldn't tell you what's going on over there, maybe toriyama is trying to pull some strings. but ff13's in a weird spot, and i'm morbidly curious to see where it goes in the ninth generation.
