Hot damn killing the second Fiend, Cagnazzo was a curbstomp compared to the last battle (asshole over there casting Reflect making it a bit hairy.)
But, yet again. Thinking Creativitwins kinda shit here. One of the main differences is the respectful twin (white mage), Porom, is dressed in green. The rude twin (black mage), Palom, is in red.
*Le gasp-* what's this? The first confirmed Major Character Deaths in the game!?
(Okay, that's sarcastic... this game pulls lotsa fast ones with implying a PC is dead. Like DEAD dead.)
#just a couple thundagas from tellah and cagnazzo was down before he had ANY chance to hit me#not all of them end in 'but i got better!'#but sooo many do#pffft

END OF BBS GRAAAAAHHHHHHH. Behold. My beautiful save and clear files for each thing
The time difference between the last bosses with Terra-Ventus and Aqua...... but I was a bit under-levelled with her at first, and I had to settle for playing long range, so I guess I can swallow it down...... On the other hand, man do you level up quickly in the RoD >_> I feel bad about it actually, the last boss in there was really too easy like this and had I known this I would have activated the zero exp ability beforehand :/
Anyway. Re: playing as Aqua. As I said, I had to resort to using lots of long range spells 😔 if nobody got me, at least I know fire got me. I'm more of a thunder fan because it's much more fun, but... Tracking Useful for boss battles... fuck blizzard all my homies hate blizzard. It wasn't all bad and boy do you need to time shit right to not get killed *stares at phase one Terranort so so hard*, but it wasn't as fun as playing aggressively or in a more balanced way :[ unfortunately I had to fill my deck with mostly magic because otherwise I woud get too greedy and try to win with brute force, which isn't something that you can really achieve with her unless you're a masochist or something _(:l 」∠)_
Playing as Aqua is so hard for me, I don't like having to rely so much on magic and I just forget that I have to with her since her attack stats are so low T-T I think I've already died more times while just walking around than I did with Terra and Ventus combined, and I'm still only at the very beginning of the game............
#i mentioned bosses but for normal enemies all across the board no matter what style you use... thundaga and magnega my beloveds#''thundagando e magnegando'' - my life motto. like beating the shit out of people and whatnot and hearing the hits >>>#but those two spells are my exception. they're just funnnn#crowd control wins#kingdom hearts#video games#mytext#aqua

I’ma giant goof and accidentally deleted an ask sent in by the lovely @soggy-fishsticks, so just making a new post instead lol!! 💕

When You Put a Materia in the Microwave
1. You’ll begin to hear a series of rapid sparking sounds anywhere between 5-20 seconds after heating
2. The microwave will then begin to illuminate…. very brightly (may result in temporary blindness)
3. If you happen to be a certain Zack Fair who ingeniously thought to place a “Hippity-Hop Hot Pocket” in the microwave alongside the materia, the following will ensue.
The hot pocket will immediately explode in a burst of blood-red sauce and meat (my condolences to your microwave door)
If the materia you placed in the microwave was a mastered Thundaga, the remaining mass of food will begin to rise
It can and will try to break the glass
It will succeed
You will then find yourself chasing a sentient blob of meat across your home, work space, and active staff meetings (warning: it will eject marinara sauce onto the heads of your bosses)
It will slip through nets
It will absorb bullets
Please burn when given the chance

No but to elaborate on the "Riku should meet Darth Vader instead of Sora" or just (insert dark side user here):
Riku fell to the dark, fully and completely, and he came back from it. But he's still using it. One of his attacks in KH3 is Dark Firaga. And yet he's one of the seven lights at the final showdown
That is antithetical to how the force is portrayed in Star Wars, where the dark side is just evil with no ifs ands or buts
The idea of him fighting/teaming up with one of them for whatever reason, and blowing their minds because this, he isn't supposed to be possible is such brain candy
Riku will use Dark Thundaga and they'll confuse it for force lightning

Things heard in the land of departure pt.2:
1
Roxas: Oh sorry, I can’t take part today. Why? Well because according to Master Terra, aiming Thundaga at Riku with extreme prejudice is “bullying” and I “have to stop”.
Sora: Remember that time that my mom took us to- OH MY GODS MY MOM!!!!
Kairi: Behind all this pink awaits a vile temperament that I fully intend to beat your ass with.
Lea: I really wish people would stop assuming that I protect Kairi. That girls packing federal charges on three separate worlds. I protect everyone else FROM Kairi.
Roxas: Ven and I are not the same. For starters, I do not think footie pyjamas are “neat”.
Ven: *running past Sora* If Riku asks it was Roxas, he’ll believe that!
Riku: How’s my day going? Horribly, that’s how!
Sora: “sleep is for the weak!” No, sleep is for the desperate, which I am! Goodnight! *pulls blanket over his head*
Riku: It baffles me that Terra trusts me to hit people with a deadly weapon, and yet he still doesn’t trust that I won’t approach the liquor cabinet with the same level of maturity. *Explosion sounds behind him. Xion and Sora screech.* Never mind, I’m starting to get it now…
Sora: sometimes when you travel with Donald and Goofy you just gotta smile first, then have the brake down later.
Roxas: are you okay?
Sora: *voice brakes* I’m great!
Aqua: okay kids, we are going to play a game. It’s called “give master Aqua some peace for five minutes” now fuck off.
Ven: *dragging Lea into the infirmary* would you believe me if I told you he looked this fucked up when I found him?
Terra: Ah, a nice easy day. No training, no emergencies. Just me my book and… *sighs* the deadly wall of unlit fireworks that are sitting directly near my chair. *snaps book closed*
Ven: *sadly* I do not have the mouska-tools for this situation.
Isa: Another day, another chance to get wailed on by five year olds. I’m so glad I agreed to do this!
Terra: I do not have a favourite student *behind him Sora, Roxas and Xion are struggling in the grips of a hydra, while Ven and Riku sit off to the side munching on ice cream.*
Kairi: make direct I contact with me one more time, I dare you!
Aqua: maybe if I lay here like I’m dead they’ll leave me alone.
Ven: Hi Aqua.
Aqua: fuck
Terra: if you’re looking for Riku, he’s gone to throw himself off the clock tower.
Xion: can someone pass me an ice pack? I think I’ve bruised my own ego.
Aqua: *spray Kairi in the face with a plant mister* bad student! No murder on the furniture!

My Thoughts on Final Fantasy VIII (PSX)
Recently my best friend decided to play through Final Fantasy VIII and it rekindled my love that I have for the game. I first beat the game around a year ago and I really enjoyed it personally. Generally in the Final Fantasy community this game is seen as pretty hit or miss, some people like it, while some people don't like it, and I'm definitely in the camp that really likes it. So I thought it would be fun to talk about why I actually think this game is pretty good. There's a lot to love about what this game did, but ill also pay attention to some problems as well don't worry. Hopefully I can convince someone that this game is actually worth playing! I first played the PC remaster that released on Steam and I think it's the best version, some people prefer the older PSX models, but I think the new ones look just as good and don't take away from the experience personally. With that being said let's get into it.
So what did I think?
Well I already said that I really enjoyed this game. But to extend on that, I didn't nearly find it as bad as people online usually say it is. What I knew before going into it was that it was a very experimental Final Fantasy, and I can totally see that. The huge debate of its quality usually comes from it's mechanics, which ill admit, can be a little flawed. But I really didn't think that it was that bad, the perfect example being the main mechanic of FF8.
Juctioning (and why it's not that bad)
For those not familiar with Final Fantasy VIII, Juctioning is the main way that your characters get stat gains, and by equipping a Guardian Force (GF), you can junction your spells to your stats and they increase.
Juctioning is one of the most controversial mechanic surrounding FF8. It can be overly confusing at times and it encourages hoarding of spells, because if you use spells, your stats are affected. Another being that it removes most character identity, basically making everyone blank slates. My solution that I came up with is to just to split up my magic stock for offense and defense, Let's say that I had Blizzaga juctioned to my magic stat while I would cast something like Flare or Thundaga. Another thing is that you don't always have to junction your strongest magic to your stats, if you want to use them then you are free to not junction them and use them offensively, take the example of flare I just gave.
Another thing is just to not worry about your stock too much, 62 Fira's juctioned to your strength stat is not going to drastically decrease if you decide to use a few of them. I found juctioning quite interesting and it forced me to think about how I wanted to use magic and what for. It also allowed for some neat customization, not as much as say, FF7 or FF6, but it still allowed me to be free with how I wanted to build every character. My Squall for example I wanted to focus on being a physical attacker because of his gunblade followups and limit breaks, so I junctioned Tornado to his strength and just firaga to his magic just in case he needed to cast some spells.
As for the characters becoming blank slates, I would argue it is not that much of a problem. I mean, Final Fantasy VII did something similar with the materia system (although that system is a lot more robust than junctioning) and it was alright there. And FF8 has their individual limit break for each character like FF7, and I think it plays a similar role in this game for distinguishing uniqueness for each character. Sometimes I would choose characters over each other just for their limit breaks, especially when I had spells like Aura.
(Irvine's limit break is one of the coolest moves like, ever)
So to put it in short, I don't think junctioning is as bad as people say, I actually really liked it because it made me think about how I was using my magic, and allowed me to still customize my party to how I like.
Guardian Forces
Another, admittedly understandable, complaint towards FF8 is the level scaling system. After all, why fight anything if you are powering up the enemies by levelling up yourself, and that there is no monetary incentive to battling either? It sounds pretty detrimental for a JRPG to not have any real gains after a fight. However, there is actually a reason you would want to fight and kill enemies, the Guardian Forces.
Guardian Forces are way more important than character level ups, because they are the main source of strength for your party. Juctioning is connected to your GF's and your GF's gain experience and level up much like your own party, which can only be gained through battling. GF's abilities too are gained by AP from winning battles. This is almost akin to Final Fantasy V's job level up system, where more often than not, the job level up is more important than the character level up.
And GF abilites is another layer of customization that you can apply to your party, with custom menu commands and even just % increases to a stat. Remember how I said I wanted squall to be a physical attacker? Well of course he would get Str+20% and +40%. And why not Auto-Haste and Mug? It would allow him to attack faster and earn some items along the way. It would be pretty hard to get these useful abilities if you just ran from every fight. To me it became a challenge of how I could become stronger than my enemy while keeping my level moderately low.
It was exciting to unlock a new GF and see what kind of abilites I could learn and apply to my battles. Another thing while i'm still on the topic of levels, sort of unrelated to GF's, is that you really don't have to worry about keeping your level super low. You can manage through the game just by fighting most of the random encounters. The game is not particularly hard, so don't worry too much about being around level 30 or 40 near the end. In fact, the Cactuar GF gives stat increases like a traditional level up, so once you get him then you are free to grind out levels to your hearts content! (like me).
The Story and Characters
The story is something that I think is actually pretty great. I know it kind of gets wild around the middle of Disc 3 to 4 but I think as a whole it was something that I really enjoyed. I particularly like Squall's development, and how he starts off as a secluded and introverted person and how he learns to appreciate his friends and the bonds he made, especially with Rinoa. I actually found Squall to be really relatable, especially as a person who had a shotty self image of himself at the time. Squalls journey actually helped me appreciate the people around me more and that's a little embarrassing to say but its true. As for the other characters they are pretty good. They aren't as good as characters seen in other FF games, but I still really enjoyed them. Two of my favourites ended up being Irvine and Selphie (if you couldn't tell by them being in every screenshot of mine), and Rinoa was a really fun contrast to Squall. I also really enjoy Seifer as a rival, it was really interesting to fight him over and over, and I ended up almost feeling pity for him. As for the story itself is pretty neat, its pretty wild but I sort of found an enjoyment from that. I think this plot is mostly focused on the characters and their relationships and less so the plot itself. I know my points about the story and character seem kind of scattered (because it's been a while since i've played the game), but I wanted to show that there was a lot worth remembering about the story, like the end of Disc 1 or the various times FMV's play while you can control things. It's very memorable.
(This scene has one of the best songs in the game by the way).
Other things that I liked
As it goes with most Final Fantasy games, the soundtrack is incredible, in fact I would say it has one of the best soundtracks in Final Fantasy period. Songs like Fishermans Horizon, Under Her Control, The Salt Flats, Premonition, and of course, The Extreme, are some of my favourite Final Fantasy songs ever. One special shoutout to Eyes on Me.
Another thing I really liked was the atmophere. It's considerably different from any FF game before it, where they were all fantasy, industrial, steampunk, etc... FF8 has a more modern feel to it which is really cool. Like there are chocobos and other fantastical elements, but at the same time you have places like Deling or more stereotypical futuristic areas like Esthar. I also just really liked exploring the world, especially when I got the Ragnarok. I won't forget when I descovered places like Cactuar Island, the Centra Ruins, and especially the Islands Closest to Hell and Heaven. I spent a lot of time on the latter grabbing the hidden draw points and grinding for levels.
And of course you have to mention THE BEST side game in any video game, Triple Triad baybee. I remember I actually did not play any Triple Triad when playing the main game but I was curious to why so many people liked it, and there went a good chunk of my hours playing this game. I liked it so much that I ended up making a different Triple Triad save. It's so simple but it requires you to be strategic and think about the multiple layers of complexity that comes from your hand, the opponents hand, the rule-set, etc... it became addicting. If you play FF8, try Triple Triad, it is pretty awesome.
Conclusion
I sort of structured this post differently than my other post, playing more defensive than I usually would. But my goal with this post was to show that there is real reason to like Final Fantasy VIII. The mechanics aren't as flawed as people say. And I remember being really confused when people said this game was one of the weaker Final Fantasy's. Beating this game gave me a sort of appreciation for underrated JRPG's and it further solidified that no matter what, I love Final Fantasy. And even if 8 weaker than some other games, what's there is still an incredible experience that I think is worth playing. So if you have put it off for whatever reason, please give it a shot, It's very underrated and deserves more recognition in my eyes. The Remaster inn my opinion is the best version, but emulating the PSX version will also give you about an equal experience though, speedup is helpful in this game, whether it's for traversal or drawing spells. Well with that being said glory to Final Fantasy and thank you for reading!

KHOC week Day 3 : Connection
Tamie made a lot of friends and connections while traveling with Sora, Donald and Goofy. But her first friend was definitely Sora. She kind of knew about him a bit. She often saw him and his friends training and playing together. At first she follow Sora to find Riku too but they really clicked together. They make a good pair but not in the way Tamie reminds Sora if he forgets something, no they just reinforce each other's chaotic and goofball energy. Donald is often tired of their shenanigans. Sora and Tamie are really close and she couldn't had a better first friend.
But Tamie's special someone is undoubtedly Riku. She cares a lot about him. Like a lot lot. People often wonder why and she just say that "Riku is just so cool". Well it's true but the real reason is that Riku is Tamie's hero. The first drawing is referencing a very special memory. In Day 2 I mentioned that Tamie would sometimes sneak out of the house. She would either stroll around or go on the play island. She often watched the other kids play together while hiding somewhere. Tamie found a special spot where nobody would come and spend the rest of her time there and play by herself or read books. One day she fell asleep in her secret spot and when she woke up there was a huge storm. She was terrified and she knew nobody would come to get her. To her surprise someone did find her and it was Riku. Tamie don't really know how he found her because she never brought up that story afterwards (too embarrassing). She was so shaken up she couldn't even thank him properly. After that she got grounded and couldn't go out (sneakily) for a while. She's pretty sure Riku forgot that event and it may be for the best, she cried so much and was probably a mess.
She developped a huge crush on him after that and would stare at him more intensely than the other. Tamie would also make up stories with Riku as the main character and hero. It's thank to him she started training herself, she wanted to be strong like him. They had...a rough start in Hollow Bastion (KH1 Riku you know) but it got better eventually and they're pretty close too.
Okay that is a lot of text again XD some extra note :
"That" Riku drawing was made by Tamie
After the "event" Tamie developped a fear of thunder and would argue a lot with Sora and Donald about the thundaga spell spamming
Riku is one the principal reason I made Tamie (I think it's clear enough lol)

Magic: Elemental, Mental, Inherent
Magic is as varied in definition as it is in utility. In order to become an adept caster, apprentices are introduced to magic through three distinct branches.
Elemental magic
Elemental magics are often the first introduction of an apprentice to the branches, due to the simplicity in understanding the differences between each category. These categories are defined as the following:
Light
Darkness
Wind (Aero, Aerora, Aeroga)
Fire (Fire, Fira, Firaga)
Ice (Blizzard, Blizzara, Blizzaga)
Earth (Stone, Stonera, Stonega)
Water (Water, Watera, Wataga)
Lightning (Thunder, Thundara, Thundaga)
In most categories, the suffix -ga and -ra clarify differing tiers or range of effect found within spells, rather than signifying a level of expertise. It is in studying all the elements that an apprentice may find difficulty understanding what these suffixes represent, as in certain circumstances, -ga and -ra can also indicate a higher concentration of magic, rather than a change in the spell’s casting.
Light and Darkness, while rightly considered to be part of the elemental branch, are unable to be further categorized in the -ra and -ga tiers of casting. In both circumstances, the casting of these elements can take the form of spells entirely unique to the caster, though these techniques can be taught by those who initially perfected them. Unique spells are also found within all other elemental categories, however, they share the uniqueness seen in Light and Dark casting. Such a level of elemental control is rarely seen in casters without extensive experience.
--------------------------------
Mental Magics
The term Mental Magic is considered to be somewhat inaccurate by many, with some circles redefining these spells as Academics. While the origins of these spells are unknown, Mental Magics rarely come to students naturally, with the vast majority of casters requiring focused education prior to achieving a successful cast.
It has been theorized that the reason these magics are not exhibited naturally by casters is due to being magic that is solely taught, rather than naturally occurring. It is possible that these spells originally fell under the category of inherent spells of those with mastery in Light or Darkness, as the two categories specifically lean into these elements.
To date, many categories exist within mental magic. Most notably are Time (Stop, Stopra, Stopga) and Gravity (Gravity, Gravira, Graviga).
--------------------------------
Inherent Magic
Spells and abilities defined as inherent magic remain the most difficult to master by those not naturally attuned to the elements they embody. This confusion has only been compounded by the misunderstanding many have of one particular category; Cure (Cura, Curaga), which is often attributed as a “green magic”, a category that, definitively, does not exist, and yet branches out into other spells of a similar nature (Sleep, Sleepra, Sleepga).
Inherent magics differ from elemental due to the inability of Light and Darkness-leaning casters to master the category opposite to their nature, while often being one of the first spell branches apprentices become adept in. For Light-leaning casters, Cure and its associated tiers appear to be almost second nature, requiring very little encouragement to develop.
For Darkness-leaning casters, Corridors of Darkness and teleportation remain the simplest of magical achievements; much to the delight of many an errant apprentice. This inherent magic is particularly unique, as it remains the only naturally occurring method of traveling between worlds outside of a Keyblade’s assistance.
Inherent magic remains the most flexible category within casting, as those with unique natures will naturally find abilities within themselves that match only that individual. Rules and guidelines are, in this instance, made to be stretched and broken; classifications are therefore intended to assist in the understanding of the beginner, not to restrict broader exploration at a more adept level.
Though only seen in a handful of instances, it is possible for a caster to have a strong internal balance of Light and Darkness within their heart. Very few casters have been identified in recorded history as mastering both sides of Inherent magic.
