Captain America #5, Case #1: Captain America and the Ringmaster of Death

Steve and Bucky go to the circus on their day off, where they happen to run into General Blaine

Bucky plays a game of chance, and we learn that Bucky's lucky number is the number 7.

Unfortunately for our dynamic duo, their day off (? Idk, they're both still in uniform?) is about to get ruined (as it usually does) because the ringmaster of this circus just so happens to be a nazi sympathizer, with intentions to murder the nazis' biggest foes. This is the usual assortment of high ranking military officials, FBI Agent Betty Ross, and of course, Captain America himself, and Bucky.

The ringmaster chooses who's going to be his next victim by spinning his Wheel of Death (TM), because all comic book villains have to have some convoluted way of committing their crimes.

Once again, our villain uses a member of a vulnerable population to do his bidding, against his will.

The murder method of choice in this instance is to let the tiger out of its cage (Yes/YES/The tiger is out), which then promptly kills General Blaine and, I guess, tries to eat him.

Since the vast majority of these cases are written to be like murder mysteries, and there's always 1-2 (or more) murders per case, I feel like the American Army has to be on the verge of running out of high ranking officers. Either that, or they're promoting people to general after, like, a week. The life expectancy of a general stationed near Camp Lehigh must be about the same as the life expectancy of a captain on the Death Star.

Steve magical girl transforms into Captain America, and then kills the tiger with his *bare hands*.

Steve, that tiger was probably mistreated, underfed and starving. Ahem. Anyway.

Then we get another installment of my favorite Captain America trope: Steve getting in trouble for doing Captain America things when he's supposed to be on duty.

While peeling potatoes, Agent Ross stops by, and Steve uses *himself* as his own secret identity to bolster his argument. Never change, Steve.

Betty goes to warn the defense commissioner that he may be next, but the warning comes too late, as he's already in the process of being murdered, this time via the snake charmer and a venomous snake.

Steve also turns up at the defense commissioner's, opting to ditch potato peeling duty, but, obviously, doesn't get there in time. And Betty gets kidnapped by the circus performers.

The ringmaster is not thrilled that Captain America decided to get involved again, so he decides to spin his magical wheel of death, and what do you know, it lands on Captain America.

Me thinks Betty Ross might be developing a bit of a crush.

As expected, Steve turns up and finds Betty dangling from the top of the circus tent. And then he and Bucky swoop in on a trapeze(!) and rescue her.

And finally, the villain is defeated, Steve disappears into the night, and Agent Betty Ross laments that she didn't even get to thank him.

I do! I get nostalgic a lot and I don't mind going back to check some things out again. Sometimes it makes me see how far I've come. Sometimes it gets me re-interested in the AU again and sparks an idea for a related story.

17. What’s something you’ve learned about while doing research for a fic?

You know how I love my research . . . While researching my RWRB Spy!AU Contrary to popular belief or what is seen in film and television series, US-born, professional employees trained to work as Intelligence Officers for the National Clandestine Service (CIA) are never referred to as "secret agents", "spies", "agents" or "special agents", they are known as 'Operations Officers' or 'Case Officers', or Officer for short. To highlight this point: within the intelligence community, the equivalent of an FBI Special Agent is a CIA Officer. Within the law enforcement community, the equivalent of a CIA "agent" is an FBI informant. There does not exist any working title or job position known as 'CIA Agent', agents or "assets" of the CIA are usually foreigners who pass along secret information to the government through CIA Case Officers, who are posted at US embassies worldwide.[49]

18. What’s one of your favorite lines you’ve written in a fic?

This is so hard . . . to pick one line. I've got a couple of exchanges I've enjoyed : From If I Can Make Your Heart My Home - a conversation between June and Blaine: “On the prowl as usual,” muttered June under her breath as they watched Preston flirt with another older woman who was giggling into her teacup under the senior Smythe’s attention. “I swear my grandfather had a hunting dog like him.  The mutt was always trying to sniff out willing bitches in heat.” Blaine coughed in his hand to cover his surprised laugh.  “June!”

From Under The Cover of Darkness - between superhero Kurt and his fanboy boyfriend, Blaine: “Kurt . .” “Yes, Blaine.  .”, Kurt opened one eye as he yawned. “Ever consider maybe having a side kick?” “Go to sleep Blaine . .”, Kurt chuckled. “No, seriously, when I was in high school I created this whole superhero persona called Nightbird. . .” Blaine began.  “Blaine . . ” “And there was a costume - it had this cape . .” “Good night, Blaine.” “But. .” “Good night, Blaine.”

He used to like his job. The paperwork was bleepin’ killer, but it came with the territory. What really got to him were the lies. The goddamn blank-holes who got their jollies out wasting police hours with false reports.

Teenagers. Bleeping teenagers who were getting frisky in their car and coming up with blankety-blank aliens so they don’t get in trouble. He could get them on indecent exposure, public lewdness… disorderly conduct. But no. They weren’t filing charges for a couple of kids knockin’ boots in a car. What they were doing was investigating a bleepin’ alien abduction. 

Manners brought his coffee mug to his lips. It was empty, so he slammed it back down on the desk. He flipped through the files and notes in front of him. Lord Kinbote. Men in black. An alien smoking a cigarette. And who the blank ends up with a name like bleepin’ Dr. Fingers? Sounds like he should be doing a very different type of practice than blankety-blank hypnosis. 

The phone on the desk let out a ring and Manners groaned before grabbing it from its cradle. 

“Yeah!” 

“Is this the Klass County Sheriff's Department?” 

Manners swiped his hand over his face. He was fresh out of bleeps. “Isn’t that the number you called?” 

“Uh, yeah.”

“Then I guess it is,” Manners said, picking up the coffee cup again before remembering it was empty. “Whatta you want?”

“It’s an alien.” 

Bleepin’ bleep, he was done with these goddamned blanking space travelers. 

When he didn’t respond, the guy on the phone continued without taking a breath. “I was looking for UFOs because I heard there’s been UFOs so I went to the field where they said in the chatroom that people had seen them but there weren’t any UFOs, at least that I saw but… look. There's an alien. Right here on the ground.” 

Manners rubbed his eyes as he tried to make sense of the rambling guy on the phone. He sounded young, and the last thing he needed was another bleepin’ over-excited teenage sci-fi fan. 

“You sure it’s not roadkill?” Manners asked, in part because he didn’t believe it was a bleeping alien, and in part because he was in the mood to be difficult. “A deer, maybe? Raccoon?” 

“A deer?” the kid asked, sounding flustered. “I know what I’m talking about. “

Was the whole bleepin’ universe on a mission to ruin his sad little blank excuse for a bleepin’ life?

“Gimme your location. And your name.” 

The kid, Blaine, relayed the information and Manners scribbled it on a notepad and adjusted the phone on his ear. He picked up the mug again, upending to pour the last dribble of ice cold bleepin’ swill into his mouth and stood from his desk.

“Listen, don’t touch the… bleep… the thing, until we get there.” 

All he wanted was a long-blank shower and a bleepin’ ice cold beer, but instead he had to go find those blankety-blank FBI agents so they could go look at an extraterrestrial in a goddamn field. 

“I know what this is!” the bleepin’ kid practically yelled into the phone. “It’s gray with big black eyes and long fingers and… It’s a fucking alien!”

Bleep this job.

Grand Theft Auto 5 (GTA V), a video game analysis - By RPG.

Grand Theft Auto, also known synonymously as GTA V is a 2013 action-adventure game and the seventh installment to the Grand Theft Auto linage. It is set within the fictional state of Los Santos, based on SoCal (Southern California); which is divided into two regions, Los Santos and Blaine County.

The single-player story follows three protagonists, all of which with varying qualities and traits, carry out a series of criminal acts (such as large-scale heists, contract murders) against a corrupt government and a vast array of wealthy and powerful criminals/entities. These protagonists are known as Trevor, Franklin and Michael in game; based upon their real life counterparts Steven Ogg, Shawn Fonteno and Ned Luke respectively.

You can chose to travel round the map by foot, or by vehicle; from either a first person, or third person perspective. The player can control which player they play as, by switching to them during or outside of missions. The story mainly focuses on the criminality of the trio, where they set up banks, and involve a lot of shooting and driving involvement; this is all sanctioned and governed by a wanted system, that as you climb the rungs more enforcement of the law occurs and the response of police and law-enforcement agencies gets progressively more intensified.

The basis for game research, idea generation and referencing came from the use of reference imagery taken by Rockstar development teams. As for the soundtrack of the game, it was composed by many different collaborators over several years.

The prologue is set in 2004, in a fictional town called Ludendorff in a fictional region named as North Yankton; where Trevor Phillips, Michael Townley and Brad Snider fail at partaking in an armed heist of a bank depot, resulting in Michael being presumed dead for 9 years. Nine years after, Michael lives with his family in Los Santos under the moniker Michael De Santa having made an agreement with the FIB (GTA's take on the FBI, Federal Bureau of Investigation) agent Dave Norton to keep his true identity hidden. As for Franklin Clinton, who lives across Los Santos, he starts off working for a corrupt car salesman by the name of Simeon Yeterian who meets Michael whilst illegitimately "repossessing" his car. Both Michael and Franklin become friends after this dispute and, when Michael catches his wife sleeping with her tennis coach, give chase to this tennis coach which leads them to a mansion. This is where Michael decides to heavily damage the mansion by hooking a rope to a pillar that supports the mansion to a jeep's tow-hitch, and pull at said pillar until it gave way; leaving half the mansion to completely collapse. After this, the mansion owner (a man called Martin Madrazo, a drug kingpin) demands repayment for the damage caused to his mansion from Michael and forces Michael to rob a jewelry store (Vangelico, in game) to get the necessary funds to pay off this debt. Trevor, who is living in squalor-like conditions in a trailer in Blaine County hears of Michael's heist and takes the opportunity to reunite with him. Further, Trevor tries to consolidate control over various criminal enterprises within Los Santos, such as waging war against The Lost MC, Latino street gangs, rival methamphetamine dealers, Blackwater PMC (Private Military Company) and triad Wei Cheng.

In my opinion, this game symbolises the hidden world of criminals; whether it is arms-running, narco-trafficking, contract murder, kidnapping or any other aspect of organised crime. Additionally, it shows the ever-relevant and prevalent public corruption within law-enforcement agencies; and how these agencies can sometimes slip under the net when faced with controversy...this can be seen in GTA when a FIB agent asks Michael to trespass into the IAA headquarters and defile/remove information linked to said FIB agent.

In the game, all three characters are involved and linked with multiple varieties of criminal acts; Trever is involved with the importation and export of controlled substances and arms-smuggling, whilst Michael has a history of committing bank robberies, the unlawful use of illicit weapons and being a brigand, and Franklin's involvement with gang crime, especially unlawful use of firearms and his involvement in the drugs trade.

This links really well with the situation, not only in the United States, but worldwide with the issues that crime and fraud have in society; GTA showcases the destructive nature crime can have on one's mental sanctity and on one's decision making, and the future of their wellbeing, dependent on what actions they have taken in the past.

AN: I’m not sure if I posted it here already, so I’m doing it again. ***

Blaine woke up with massive headache. He couldn’t tell if he was hungover or still drunk. He shifted a bit, and his lower back screamed in protest – he didn’t remember the last time he was so sore. Not opening his eyes, Blaine tried to call back the previous night. Memories flooded his mind. Flashing lights, loud music. Other men dancing around him, trying to get his attention. Alcohol, whisky and rum and something very sweet. Empty streets, building he saw for the first time. Dark staircase, big apartment. Strong hands on him, pulling him closer, taking his clothes off, roaming all over his naked body. Hot and wet mouth on his lips, chest, cock, ass. Solid, yet so soft body on him, hard, big dick up inside him. Screams of pleasure and more, faster, harder. Beautiful, dark blue eyes looking into his with so much adoration.

Kurt.

Startled, Blaine opened his eyes. He didn’t recognise the room or the bed. Looking at the man next to him, he almost screamed, shocked. Here, in all the naked glory, was lying Kurt Hummel – his high school’s ex-boyfriend, a man whom Blaine hadn’t seen in almost 15 years.

They met freshman year, when Blaine’s family moved to Lima, and become fast friend, being totally inseparable. After over a year of mutual pinning, they finally confessed their feelings and become the McKinley power couple. But then senior year came, and with that college applications. They started to arguing more and more as the year passed. Both accepted into colleges of their dreams – Kurt in New York and Blaine in San Francisco – with broken hearts they decided that they don’t want to do a long distance relationship and it’d be easier to break up now, than later.

The first semester at San Francisco Art Institute was a living hell for Blaine. Depressed after break up, longing for his family on the other side of the country, overwhelmed with the amount of schoolwork, and notable to find any friends, he gave up. After spring break he packed his belongings, and without the word he left to Washington. With some help from his parents, he found an apartment and a job. In the fall, he started studying medicine at the Howard University. With time, everything in Blaine’s life fell into right places, and when on his fourth year he came across job offer as a federal agent, he didn’t hesitate a minute.

He had a degree. He had a job, and place to live. He dated, had his fair share of hook-ups, but couldn’t commit himself to long-term relationship. There was always a pair of piercing blue eyes in the corner of his minds, making it impossible to fall in love. So he was single, but overall happy.

And now, just couple of months after moving to New York, he found himself in strange room, in bed with his ex. How did it happen?

‘You really don’t remember?’ a voice said. Blaine looked at Kurt, who was awake now. Huh, he had to said his thoughts out loud. ‘You must drank more than I thought.’ Kurt shamelessly sit up, cross-legged, and stretched, pushing his arms up in the air. He smirked, seeing how Blaine’s eyes couldn’t focus on one spot of his body.

‘Hi.’

‘Kurt?’ Blaine whispered.

‘Yeah, it’s me.’ He smiled, putting his hand on Blaine’s knee. 'Are you okay?’ Ha came closer, his expression changed, worried.

'Yeah, just… what are you doing here? Why I am here? Why did we…?’

‘You really don’t remember. Okays, so. We met at the club , this one guy was hitting on me and couldn’t take no for an answer. You must seen this, and you come to rescue me. After that, we talk a bit, drink even more and danced together. We walked to my place, because it was closer. You can probably guess what happened next.’

Blaine could hear his own voice in his head, slurred due to alcohol, begging Kurt to ‘do something, please, I need you so much, right now’. He blushed and shook his head. ‘I think I remember now. But, Kurt. What does it mean?’

‘Oh my, I love you so much!’ Blaine laughed, pulling Kurt for another kiss.

Had been in a relationship with you since high school (the later years) but, before that, they were in a relationship with M. (A little bit more context on M’s quote in the pinned post.)

When they were first told that you were missing, and probably dead, they didn’t want to believe it. They were an absolute wreck for two months (refusing to leave the house, crying, etc). They had to be stopped from looking for you in the woods multiple times.

Has a major fear of rollercoasters because of the heights but absolutely loves going rock climbing…

Still wears their wedding ring around their neck, right next to yours as that was one of the only things they found of yours, and refuses to take it off. No matter what.

On your anniversary they visit your grave and watch your wedding video on their phone… reminiscing about happier times when they still had you by their side.

Michael/Margot:

Is a doctor within Aurora and they absolutely love their job. They work with children and have the gentlest touch (one that the MC isn’t really expecting because of how they are with you).

Goes on a run with their dog every single morning (when their schedule allows it) to allow her to stretch her legs. It’s one of the highlights of their day.

Sings along to old show tunes that play on the radio as they’re headed to work every morning. Tapping along with the beat as a bright smile pulls on their lips.

Has a semi-distant relationship with their parents/family for a variety of reasons but they’re not one to share all that much about it.

Their favorite snack is popcorn and they commonly eat it instead of having a nutritious meal (which they’re well aware is bad for them).

Blaine/Blaire:

Is a Pre-K Teacher within Aurora and has an absolute blast creating lesson plans for their students. They have a lot of the art their students have made for them framed in their house.

Is a frequent diner at the local diner within Aurora; always ordering the same thing (a cheeseburger and fries with a strawberry shake). It’s something they always used to do with you.

Used to visit your grave every Sunday in order to pay respects and tell you about their week and what they were excited for in the upcoming one— even though all they really wanted was for you to be there with them.

Loves the taste of cinnamon and gets really excited when their mother makes them cinnamon pie (a childhood favorite).

Still keeps a picture of you on their desk (both at work and at home) because they never want to forget what you look like. And it makes them think that they’re not truly alone.

Wren/Wynn:

Has a personal connection with this case which is part of the reason they want it to finally be solved.

Has an unhealthy addiction to trashy romance books that they’ll commonly read within their hotel room whenever they’re bored or the case gets too stressful.

Is an absolute terrible cook but they’re an amazing baker (scones that you’ll never be able to believe).

Is a highly decorated agent within the FBI and a highly decorated soldier from the Marines. They take honor and duty to a whole other level.

Has a cat back in DC that they absolutely adore more than anything. It’s an old little man that they’ve named Fiji (as they named him after the only bottle of water they had on them when rescuing him).

Nicholas/Natalie:

Is a complete recluse but they’re always kind to people whenever they get lost near their house. Helping them back to Aurora with Beau happily trotting by their side.

Lives out on the lake with their next neighbor over two miles away; it’s something that made them choose their house to begin with. As they didn’t want to deal with the hustle and bustle of living in town.

Is very active; taking Beau running, biking, hiking, kayaking, etc. Whatever N does you bet your ass that Beau is going to be loyally by their side for it all.

Loves to go bird watching whenever the season comes around and they also love laying out on their back deck and watching the stars; having memorized the constellations long ago.

Is very goofy whenever they get comfortable around people and is a fairly genuine person with the few people that they trust. It’s just hard for them to get there.

Riverdale 5x04 Trailer Reaction

I’m not sure why I’m doing this tbh. I haven’t seen any riverdale episodes, and the last crack edits I saw were all roasting Veronica’s Jailhouse Rock dance which was like two seasons ago. But I’ve heard that somehow this trailer is even more crazy than the rest of the show and because i’m weird, i’m a weirdo, and i just don’t fit in (and i don’t wanna fit in), I’ve decided to make a reaction/review of the trailer. 

“A lot can happen in 7 years” 

Wait what was there a time jump or something? or has Riverdale actually been allowed to exist this long 

“Archie had been in a war” 

LMAoOOOOOOOOOOO

sry sry no disrespect to our armed forces except those who abuse their power to hurt innocent civilians, but what in god’s name is going on? I know ‘Archie’s in a war’ but in what year, 1943? Because his uniform and helmet are completely out of - wait let me pause. Is that a football goal in the background? Is this diet Dunkirk on a high school football field? jeez I think we need to move on from this scene before I lose anymore brain cells.

Honestly I would make fun of Jughead for the melodramatic tantrum but tbh i do the exact same thing when I have to edit my first drafts. However I will make fun of the fact that this is supposed to be seven years in the future right? then why does Jughead look he’s been divorced four times and five years behind on alimony?

Lmaoo Archie’s shirt, is the Riverdale RROTC that bad at graphic design? Like get on customink or something because that is pathetic- wait Veronica is MARRIED. Like MARRIED MARRIED? What? Where the heck did this come from? and it’s to the son of Kurt and Blaine from Glee?

Who let her be an FBI agent? Hasn’t this girl been through enough? And why is she also wearing a longsleeve grey t shirt? Did the costume designer just get fed up and look through the lost and found or something (not that I blame her, in fact if she did do that, all the power to her). WHAT she got stuck in a dirt hole and someone...waved a bucket at her? Sorry they concentrate so hard on trying to make this scene edgy and dark that I cannot tell what in the world is going on, I have my brightness all the way up but it’s still so confusing. At least Betty’s getting the therapy she desperately needs tho.

You’re telling ME. And why does Archie have so many medals? Guess there’s a lot of heroism in the ‘epic highs and lows of highschool football’ since that’s where it looks like he’s fighting all his wars.  

Closing Thoughts 

The show definitely has changed since the good old crack edits of season 2/3. From the time jump to the ww2 football thing, its like Riverdale mugged Christopher Nolan, tossed in some aged up edginess and put it all in a blender to create the strangest thing I’ve ever seen in my life.

Summary:  Kurt Hummel's only concern was getting the perfect role in the perfect Broadway show. But when one night he witnesses a real nightmare, Kurt's focus shifts from saving his career to saving something much more important: his own life.

Most people, when they were at home, felt at ease. They relaxed, had a meal with their families, shared stories about their days, and went to sleep in the arms of the person they loved. Blaine dreaded his time at home – it was tainted with loneliness and too much silence. Maybe that was why he was always at the office, letting the bureau become his life. At least when he was working on a case, he had a purpose and something to keep him busy.

He uncapped his bottle and took a long sip, as he flipped through the channels on the television. He let a mindless sitcom play in the background while his mind wandered back to the case consuming his life. Blaine had been an FBI agent for almost eight years, but nothing had ever felt as challenging or life threatening as his current case. A sicko went around New York City killing women, stripping their clothes off and cutting heart shapes into their skin. There were eleven victims, and they still had no idea how to trap him. They never knew where or when he was going to strike next, and the guy seemed clever enough to leave absolutely no clues in the murder scenes.

It was driving Blaine crazy.
