look, i will be the first to admit that I don’t know....like....any pertinent details about Jean Grey and the Dark Phoenix storyline apart from the three things ive seen on tungle.hellsite and the first round of X-men movies which boils down to “men lie to Jean Grey and then are surprised when that ends poorly” but like
wouldn’t it be hilarious if Jean had a, shall we say, accident and injury prone girlfriend (you remember all those old posts about a Hawkeye Netflix show set in the 90s? talking about grunge Kate??? IT’S GRUNGY BISEXUAL KATE BISHOP)
(LIKE LET’S BE REAL you know how in Apocalypse Jean was all doing archery? yeah because her gf taught her let’s not be coy)
and basically what happens is that every time Jean gets all Dark Phoenix destructive-y TIME TO END THE WORLD, Kate is falling off of a twenty-story building or getting shot at or trapped in a mansion that she set on fire or getting ready to die from internal bleeding and Jean, understandably, gets distracted and Dark Phoenix is just like FINE LET’S FIX THE FUCKING PROBLEM AND THEN DESTROY EVERYTHING only by the time the problem is fixed Dark Phoenix feels a lot less murder-y?
and maybe it’s an accident or maybe it’s on purpose that somehow the Dark Phoenix starts to think of this as a CHALLENGE, like, Kate isn’t even a mutant, she’s not even powerful, she’s not even a blip on an ant’s radar, she’s a dumb squishy human and the Dark Phoenix has PHENOMENAL COSMIC POWERS WHY IS SHE SO FUCKING DIFFICULT TO KEEP ALIVE, you know what? you wanna die so bad? not gonna happen. I’m the motherfucking DARK PHOENIX and if I say you aren’t going to die then GUESS WHAT’S NOT GOING TO HAPPEN.
(which is why i would pick Kate over most other superheroes because they all have special powers but Kate does not, if you break her...she stay broke)
and that’s how Dark Phoenix doesn’t take over the world and eventually stops trying to control Jean so much or w/e like i said idk much about it just Dark Phoenix angrily snatching Kate out of the air, somehow they still land in a dumpster, Kate is like :D Dark Phoenix is like D:< and Jean is like :O
#jean grey#dark phoenix#kate bishop#hawkeye#my stuff#a bird ship!!! i love those#just in case it wasn't clear like they are totes the same age#dark phoenix rescued a plaid-and-doc-martin wearing kate from a freefall from a plane#and is just like: her?#kate is wither grunge or the purple clad lovechild of elle woods and cher from clueless no in between#meanwhile jean is like KATE PLEASE STOP GETTING SHOVED OFF OF PLANES BY CIA AGENTS I'M LITERALLY BEGGING YOU#kate: well maybe cia agents should stop being DOUCHEBAGS(yelling @ the sky) you can shove j edgar hoover up your ASS#jean: ffs kate literally everyone knows hoover was fbi#kate: they hit me in the head a bunch of times#jean: *does not become a dr because her gf is injured all the fking time*#(i lied. she do. Kate/Yelena Bodyguard AU - Sneak Peak
Title: Target: Bishop Securities - Entry Member: Kate Bishop
Plot: Yelena is placed, while still under mind control, as a spy within Bishop Securities. While there Yelena is placed as Kate Bishop’s personal bodyguard when the family begins receiving threats. Is it possible to fall in love when under mind control? Is it possible not to fall in love with your bodyguard whose constantly saving and changing your life?
-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-
The question to hire a bodyguard from in or out of the company came up eventually.
“In.” Derek immediately answered while Eleanor disagreed. Which meant they each needed to try and prove their points.
The two stood in front of a dry erase board that had several names of female agents that worked for Bishop Securities or were known to one or both of the Bishop’s.
“Monica Rambeau, won’t work. She’s the chief investigator for this case.” Eleanor frowned as she crossed out one of her top choices.
They crossed off Misty Knight, Coleen Wing, while Felicity Hardy had a question mark next to her name. Then there were others that were still on the board but had no indicators at all like Jean Grey, Kitty Pride, and Scarlet Witch.
Derek smiled as he looked up from his tablet, “Jessica Jones is open for hire.”
“No.” Eleanor stated immediately.
“But…” Derek stopped when Eleanor glared at him.
When Derek crossed off Jessica Jones’ name Eleanor went back to her list, “That leaves Sharon Carter, Jessica Drew, Yelena Belova, and Laura Kinney.”
Derek looked at the names and circled the two that were employees he recognized. “Yelena and Sharon are the only ones left from within the company.”
“Sharon huh?” Eleanor knew Sharon. With that in mind Eleanor glanced at the profile for Yelena Belova quickly, after seeing the picture at the top. It showed a young blonde woman with deep brown eyes, a chiseled face and hard stare. “Yelena is the member from Marcus’ team?”
Derek hummed affirmatively, Eleanor’s eyes widened as she looked at the young operatives file. “She saved three operatives on her last mission.”
Derek shook his head in the negative and quickly explained, “Five actually, two died from complications later. But she pulled all five from the rubble. She even did field triage.” Derek recounted, “Marcus and I were discussing promoting her, again.”
“Again?” Eleanor might have been a bit impressed and trying to hide it as she looked down at the tablet in her hands instead.
Derek drank a sip from his tumblr, this time it was filled with water. “Mmm…she’s already been promoted three times.”
“But…she’s only worked for us for…” Eleanor looked at the file, “Just shy of three years.”
Derek shrugged, “She’s good. Speaks five languages fluently, half dozen more well, mastery in multiple weapons, permits and licenses are on the higher end, top of her class in everything.”
Eleanor looked at her husband, “What’s the catch?” knowing Yelena couldn’t be perfect, even if on paper it looked like she was.
Derek shrugged, not sure if her faults were all that imperative. “She has a bit of an attitude and distrust problem. Standoff-ish, but for her current missions that’s been somewhat of a benefit.”
Eleanor was surprised that the woman had been hired let alone promoted three times if she had an attitude problem. Usually that was code for ‘doesn’t follow orders’ or is ‘hot headed’. “She follows orders?”
“The right orders. Promotions came after she didn’t follow the wrong ones.” Derek grinned when he watched Eleanor accept that answer. “She’s a good operative. She’d have been on the fast track in the public sector, no matter which track she took. Army, Navy, Coast Guard, FBI, CIA…”
“Then why did she come to work for us?”
“She was born in Russia, came to the US on exchange during high school, went to college here, and applied for a work visa, and citizenship. You know with that new unspoken axiom, no matter how hard she worked in the public sector, unless she had a connection she wouldn’t get as high as she could with us.” The unspoken concern being that she was a spy.
“Or make as much.” Eleanor noted the woman’s salary with a grin, swiping through the accommodations in the file and each successive monetary increase.
“Or that.” Derek watched as Eleanor went up to the dry erase board and started to erase the names and notes they’d taken and replaced all the other options with one: YELENA BELOVA.

Prologue posted here!
I am hard at work writing this fic, trying to get the first chapter finished after writing the last chapter first. >.< Can’t control the writing process, but in the interim I thought I’d share a sneak peak of Eleanor and Derek discussing their decision to hire Yelena for the job.

NCIS: Gibbs - Stakeout

Title: Stakeout Word Count: 1154| Fandom: NCIS Pairing: Gibbs x Reader Rating: K Gif: Not Mine Requested: @ilovemark1951 Prompt: Hello, I would love if you could write something with Gibbs. He is following a suspect, when they look around so Gibbs grabs Reader and kisses them so he doesn't get caught. Hopefully you like this idea.
You didn’t think this was how you were going to be spending your Friday night. You cussed under your breath, not for the first time this evening. Of all the things you could’ve been doing, your mom has asked you to go shopping for a family get together. While that in itself hadn’t been an issue, the fact that you had to tag along with two of your least favorite cousins was. It’s not that you hated them, but given a choice, you would’ve opted to watch paint dry. It would’ve been less painful for you.
The topic once again focused on how your biological clock was ticking and that soon you wouldn’t be viable for marriage and… you drowned out the rest of the conversation, knowing how it was going to go.
As you placed another jar of pasta sauce into the cart you cursed at your long-time friend, Timothy McGee, for cancelling at the last minute. Granted, you knew work was always the priority, but you couldn’t help it. You were in hell, for the last half hour. Friday evenings usually meant dinners with the NCIS Agents; if you could weren’t working on a case. That you weren’t NCIS but rather FBI didn’t matter to any of them, it was more than a decade of friendship with them and you were sure when it came down to the nitty-gritty of stuff, the NCIS agents would always have your back.
Even if the FBI only existed to annoy NCIS. Tony regularly reminded you of that, often repeating his Boss’ words. It was fortunate for DiNozzo that Gibbs rarely joined the group at these dinners, preferring to spend time in his basement building a boat.
The first time Kate had mentioned the boat-building in the basement, you’d thought she was kidding but, months later, when DiNozzo and McGee confirmed Gibbs was actually building a boat there, you had no choice but to believe them. You have yet to see the boat, or the basement…
You hadn’t had much interaction with Special Agent Gibbs, even when agencies were forced to work together. He was wary of ‘head doctors’ and profilers and Behavioural Analysts’ and preferred to go with his ‘gut’ feelings on things. The most you’d shared with Agent Gibbs was maybe a quick ‘hello’ in the hallways of NCIS or wherever the meet was. Even at the dinners, Gibbs was not much of a talker, preferring to listen more. He was always polite, though.
Thinking of the man, you’re somewhat surprised when you see Agents Bishop and DiNozzo who are grocery shopping. That makes you somewhat suspicious. Why would Tony and Eleanor be shopping, together? And that’s when you notice their body language. They seem more alert than they should be for just shopping, and then you note that their attention is focused on a man closer to you in the same aisle. The man in question seems nervous, but there’s something else that troubles you about him, something that raises the hairs on the back of your neck.
It takes a second before you recognise the man – he’s the lead suspect in the case Team Gibbs is working on. McGee had asked your opinion on this Mr Donnelly and what you found scared you – just enough to warn McGee to be careful with this one.
Neither of the agents acknowledge you but you do see Eleanor say something into her sleeve. Probably updating McGee on the new development of you being present in the store.
And then your attention is diverted by your nagging cousins.
“(Y/N), Are you even listening to me? It’s not as though your Mr Knight in Shining Armour, is just going to show up. You need to put some effort into dating, looking for him,” your cousin Myrtle tells you.
“Did it ever occur to you, that I don’t put any effort into dating, because I don’t want to date anyone?” you ask, your tone acerbic. You’re still trying to figure out a plan if Donnelly catches on to the fact that he’s under surveillance and what he’ll do when he does figure it out.
“Then you’re going to remain a spinster…” you miss the rest of her sentence because your attention is diverted when you feel a hand gently close around your upper arm and spin you around.
To say you’re surprised when you come face to face with one Special Agent Gibbs is an understatement of the year.
You try to keep your expression neutral; it’s a monumental task, but there’s also no need to alert Donnelly of anything just yet. Also Gibbs doesn’t give you time to process anything.
The only thing you’re aware of is Gibbs’ mouth slanting over yours, his lips pressing softly against yours. You feel his hands on your waist, gently pulling you into him and you can’t stop the moan that escapes you.
He pulls back, slowly, eyes pinned to yours. It’s a three second reprieve before he melds his mouth to yours once again, but not before whispering “Rule 27” in your ear. You try to remember if you’d heard DiNozzo or any of the other agents talking about Rule 27 but you can’t think straight because this time, when he kisses you, he’s not gently at all, fusing his mouth to yours, his tongue asking for entrance. You’re caught so off guard but you don’t deny him, granting him entrance. The kiss is hot and frenzied, and nothing like you’ve ever experienced before. When people had told you Gibbs could be intense, they certainly weren’t lying.
Gibbs only breaks the kiss when the need for oxygen overrides everything else. He pulls away, reluctantly, but doesn’t let go of your waist. By the time you get your bearings back, DiNozzo and Bishop have already cuffed Donnelly and DiNozzo is leading him to a group of other NCIS agents to be taken back to NCIS to be interrogated.
“Hi,” he offers you a shy smile and you can’t help but return it.
“Guess not all FBI Agents exist to annoy him,” you hear Tony stage whisper and a laugh escapes you without your permission.
“Don’t let Fornell know,” Gibbs growls and more laughter follows.
“Wait, you’re an FBI Agent?” Myrtle asks you. “I thought you’re an Analyst.”
“She is. A Behavioural Analyst, for the FBI,” Tony says, the annoyance prevalent in his tone.
“Look, we’d love to stay and chat, but there’s still a suspect in custody and right now Agent (Y/L/N) has to be debriefed, so if you don’t mind, we’ll be leaving,” Eleanor adds.
She and DiNozzo don’t wait for your response and turn to leave with the rest of the Agents.
“How about a literal debrief after interrogation?” Gibbs asks you and you can’t help the blush that rises in your neck and cheeks.
“Only if you do the debrief,” you respond once your face stops flaming.

Addendum to “Star Trek/NCIS: the crew manifest”
Addendum to Fandoms in Trek AUs: NCIS. Annotations that had to be removed from the main post since it already was so long.
About the positions and assignments To assign position I tried to stay as closer to their roles in the tv show as I could. Unless a more specific one was available for the specific character, NCIS / FBI agents were made part of security, doctors and related to medical and so on. If not listed below, the choice was self-explanatory and was redundant. - Leon Off all the three directors NCIS has during the first 13th Seasons, Leon is the one who sat on the chair the longer and, consequently, the one who deserved the "boss" role more. He was also the one who couldn't be assigned any other role if assigned to the crew because of this reason. - DiNozzo He's been Gibbs's second since... well, ever, so the role of First Officer was mandatory. Besides, Gibbs considers him his second: there was no way I could make anyone else Gibbs's first officer. You cannot give communications to someone else if Tony is in the mix: the guy is the master of talking. So, although he speaks only two languages (versus Ziva, for example), he cannot be anything else than the Communicator Officer. I had been tempted to remove this role, to give it to Nikki, but then... well, Memory Alpha states that in the 23rd century first officers "served as a department head first and the executive officer second": I can't imagine Tony spending his on-duty hours standing like an idiot because there's no first officer's station on a Constitution. - Kate Todd Given that, previously her NCIS job, she was assigned to the security of the Air Force One and the US President himself, who's better than her to be a Security Chief? Also, it was unclear which role in the hierarchy of the team she had - as far as I understood, she and Tony were at the same level, since there was no mention of "seniority" nor Gibbs treated her or Tony as one superior to the other - so I gave her the role of third officer to partially preserve that. - Abby Abby could fill many shoes. She's NCIS weapons expert, but her main specialty is science, so Chief Science Officer she is. - Ziva Ziva is... Ziva. She fits everywhere and nowhere at the same time. Languages, weapons, combat: everything a red shirt could do, she can do - and better than others. Well, besides driving, at least. Back in 2016 she was in the hold because I didn't know which role give her until I found it fitting to be the second to Kate (whom she replaced in the series). But then I had the idea of revamp the whole edit and she initially ninja-kicked Tony out of his Chief Communication Officer chair on the bridge. But then eventually was moved to helm: she's a woman of action, I couldn't see her sitting at a station picking up frequencies all day, she would probably catch an allergy or die of boredom. Appreciate the decency I had to put her at the nav and not the helm station, leaving that to Borin. Kidding. I couldn't resist it actually. - Jenny Shepard Poor Jenny. I wanted her as Admiral, but then where I could place Vance? With the Liaison Officer (aka, the boss) role already filled, I didn't know where to place her. In the old edit she was given the helmsman (quoting «guides everyone and this is the best I could find for her»), but now I made her the second to Morrow, and second in charge of the functioning of the ship which is likely the closest to a NCIS Director you could get, when the agency takes the form of a starship. Also, second officer to partially give her back some authority (I couldn't make her First Officer in place of Tony, clearly). To at least reflect that she's been in a position of power, I elected her as first helm. - Ellie Bishop We've been shown that she's best at tactical plans, logic and everything between and I wanted her on the bridge. I thought that the standing, additional tactical officer position - that standing station manned by a black actor in red shirt seen in the movies (see Froman) - was fitting. - Fornell What an FBI guy could do, on a starship? Security officer. Sure, but what if you already have a better choice for a Security Chief and their Deputy? Initially I assigned him the armory, but when I revisited the edit came Zoe, so... - Delilah She's "just" an analyst but, in a show where most of the characters carry a gun and go on the field catching criminals, an analyst is as closer to a "computer geek" as they can go. However, the role of mainframe conduit was left open and I didn't really want to include yet another character, so Deliah, you've got promoted on the bridge! - James Palmer and Gerald Since he's a Medical Assistant to Ducky, I decided to make Palmer the Head Nurse instead of Doctor. Gerald, as he had less time to professionally grow, is a step lower as Nurse. - Morrow As he's the first NCIS director we're shown (and likely the one who reformed it from NIS), I thought he had to be assigned the closer role to the ship itself. - Borin Notes from the old edit: «Borin's a woman of action, a less grumpy Gibbs. Being the head of the Coast Guard Investigative Service and specialist about ships, I thought fitting for her to be the Chief Engineer.» I still maintain that it was a perfect assignment, but now that she's been replaced by Morrow I couldn't demote her to engineer. Now all the team leaders are either helm or nav (see below). - Hollis She's army and unity commander: she deserved to be the head department, but I couldn't demote Kate. Sorry Hollis! Still, I made sure to reflect that Kate is the brain, and she doesn't get much on the field - that's Hollis's job. - Cassidy and EJ As team leaders, I put them at the helm/nav stations. - Zoe As agent for the "Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF)", she was the only one to replace my initial idea for the Weapons specialist on the crew, Fornell. - Doctor Ryan We don't need PsyOps on a Starfleet Ship, Samantha! - Nikki She's fluent in languages and she monitors communications. Duh. - Cranston + Wolf She basically begged for this position - or this position for her. Same for Dr. Wolf. - Grady I gave her the transporter chief position because of her character's introduction as polygraph specialist. - Doctor Taft Despite him being a "field doctor", which initially made me include him as senior doctor (Doctor M'Benga's position), I picked doctor Jordan so he was downgraded. - Dorney He's a probatory agent and he complains when he gets the evidence locker. I created the position for him when I replaced him as Yeoman. - Carol Well, we know Abby hates it when there's people in her lab. But she accepted Carol when time saw them working together and I wanted to include Carol, so... - Lee It's the closer "starship position" I could find to an agent canon-assigned to the legal department. - Jordan I decided to make her Ducky's second because she's a medical examiner like him and, when he was hurt, Ducky suggested to ask her to temporary replace him on a case (we don't see the scene, it's just Ducky saying it). - Stan I know he deserves more than "Captain's yeoman" but... was a very late, late addition to the crew, so before he didn't even made an appearance? Also, he laments that he was like an errandboy during his times with Gibbs. And Gibbs would love to have a yeoman as Stan. - Hart Her was the character I regretted more to not add but I really had no idea how to fit her on a starship. Then the final version of the revisited edit was ready, and I was missing a character. Of all the minor characters left out, she was the most blaring. But you don't need an attorney (or even a JAG officer) on a starship. Considering she spends most of her presence on the show reminding Gibbs of rules, I guessed she could be some kind of assistant to keep the very undiplomat Gibbs on check. About the ranks While assigning ranks I tried to maintain some kind of reference to the "power hierarchy" of the tv show. For this reason, Jenny Shepard and Fornell are the only ones given a commander rank besides Di Nozzo (who gets the rank only because of his First Officer position). Morrow manages a captain because there's a canon precedent of a captain holding the chief engineer position (Scotty in Search for Spock), but I tried to compensate for Jenny by giving her the second officer role. Lieutenant commander is for characters who lead a team/squad leader (Borin, Barrett, Cassidy) or other characters who weren't part of NCIS who held a high rank within their jobs (Doctor Ryan, Dr. Taft); Kate was given it for the position she was assigned to (chief security) but also because, during her time at NCIS, she was equal to Tony but I didn't/could give her a commander, while Ducky gets it despite not being a federal agent because... well, it's Ducky and he's also the CMO. Mann, as Army Lieutenant Colonel, should be a commander (which is the Navy equivalent), but I decided that having her with the same rank of Jenny and higher than her direct superior Kate would make little sense. Bishop, as the last acquisition of the squad, is a lieutenant junior grade, while Dorneget is a step lower as ensign. Jeanne, Doctor Cranston, Wolf and Hampton, while not related to NCIS, are respectively an ensign and lieutenants because I felt that, as doctors, they would be better fitting as commissioned officers (Jeanne is a rank lower because at the start her seniority is unclear and she's preparing to give an exam); Carol, on the other side, is an external and I gave her a chief petty officer to reflect that. I initially wanted to make Palmer, who isn't a federal agent, a non-commissioned officer, but I wasn't sure a CPO could be a head nurse so I made him ensign, but then changed my mind again, and he's now Master CPO - let's say he got promoted after a probationary time under Doctor Mallard. Gerald, his predecessor, is still stuck to chief petty officer. Rest were given the "average" lieutenant to reflect their Agent status. Hart is not part of Starfleet so she doesn't have any rank.

I am not worried about Kacy and this date lucy has with someone else. They are THE couple of the show which means it’ll take a minute for them to get back together but they will. And it sound like they will in the finale. Please Lucy’s reactions to the surfing just shows that Kacy is going to happen 🤣
I hope we get more backstory next season on everyone. I want Janes cia background coming into play. I want Jesse to have a backstory. I want Kai’s time in the Marines. I want Lucy’s backstory with her family and how she came to join NCIS of all places when she comes from a Dallas oil family. I want Kate’s family background cause I feel like they are very WASPy and I also think kate did more at the dia then the show said. Especially in DC. And I want to know why kate transferred because usually you only transfer with a promotion and I am really curious cause it doesn’t seem like it was much of one in Hawaii. Like I just want more backstory on all of them. Mostly of Kacy but everyone. And no I haven’t forgotten Ernie lol. I feel like his story should be a mystery until like season three lmao.
Now I remember conversations about Kate eventually joining the NCIS team. I can see the fbi attaching her as a liaison to the team and eventually having her become an agent. On the original NCIS show both Ziva David and Ellie Bishop started off as liaisons to the team. Ziva was mossad and Ellie nsa. And kate Todd stated off as secret service in the pilot episode before she was fired for having an affair with the man carrying the nuclear football. He was murdered and the affair placed the president in danger so it’s not cause she slept with the wrong person. It’s cause she endangered the president lol. Deeks on NCIS LA started as an LAPD liaison and finally became an agent. There is precedent for it. However the difference between all of them and kate Whistler is that Whistler has been in a relationship/is in a relationship with a member of the team before hand. Which could happen in fiction but wouldn’t in real life for the most part. Still want to see it though lol.
#kate whistler#kacy#lucy tara#ncis hawai'i#ncis hawaii#kate x lucy#not a federal agent but I’ve known a few#don’t take my word as gospel#but this is what I’ve always been told

Buffy and Angel also have two products that show up regularly in fiction.

One is Sugar Bombs or Chocolate Frosted Sugar Bombs, which appear in Calvin and Hobbes, Marvel’s Runaways (featuring Nico Minoru, Karolina Dean, Chase Stein, Gert Yorkes, Molly Hayes, Old Lace, Xavin. Victor Mancha, and The Swarm), and The Incredibles 2. They also show up in the videogame series Fallout, but that is most likely an alternate universe. Morley Cigarettes are the other product that has a good travel life, enough to have its own Wikipedia Page. As such, I’ll only mention a few notable cases: Joy Ride 2: Dead Ahead, Murder in the First, Platoon, Psycho (1960), The World’s End (2013), 24, American Horror Story “Birth”, The Americans, Beverly Hills 90210 (1990s series), Burn Notice, Californication, Cold Case, Criminal Minds, CSI: NY, Curb Your Enthusiasm, The Dick Van Dyke Show, ER, Everybody Hates Chris, Friends, Heroes, Jake 2.0, Judging Amy, Justified, Lost, Malcolm in the Middle, Medium, Millennium, Mission: Impossible (TV Series), Nash Bridges, NCIS, New Amsterdam, Orange is the New Black, Pushing Daisies, Reaper, Seinfeld, Space: Above and Beyond, The Strain, That 70s Show, The Walking Dead, Twin Peaks, Warehouse 13, Weeds, System Shock 2, and The Twilight Zone “Nightmare at 20,000 Feet”. Obviously, some of these would be alternate universes. Finally, there are two notable parody examples to bring up: Vampirella vs. Fluffy. Vampirella has had a LOT of crossovers, so she’s one step removed from Buffy at best, ergo, they probably met and given the tone of the comic, Vampi did not leave too happy with Buffy’s remarks about her outfit, or Willow. Big Wolf on Campus actually provides a rather respectful crossover, and all things considered, the title character likely met Faith before she came to Sunnydale if taken as a proper crossover. Totaling things up, Buffy the Vampire Slayer (and Angel) have had 10 nods to the Cthulhu Mythos, 7 crossovers with Dracula, 5 with Frankenstein and Sherlock Holmes, 4 with Ghostbusters, and 3 with Doc Savage, Solomon Kane, Evil Dead/Army of Darkness, The X-Files, and Hellboy. And all that from just Buffy and Angel. Can you imagine what you find when you got a link further than that? Or two links? Six?
To give a hint: The Mythos can add over 200 works, Dracula 160+, 79 from Frankenstein, 17 from Ghostbusters, 24 from Hellboy, 29 from Evil Dead, and 51 from The X-Files. There is a lot of overlap, of course, but it still sets a good idea of just how big this world is. Now, all Buffy needs is a crossover with Batman, and she’ll have hit the all the major crossover series. Edit: Updated with Crossovers Volume 3.

Marvelvsmarvel Year in Review Pt V:
The MCU Farewells
This will be my last Year In Review post for 2020 thank you to those who have stuck with em. As we’re swinging into the new year everybody be safe share some love and kiss this year goodbye!
With all the exciting upcoming Marvel projects coming out to theaters and Disney+, with the new comes throwing out the old and it seems time to finally put some hopes and rumors of past Marvel projects to rest. While I made a separate post about Agents of SHIELD this one is for the Projects left on the cutting room floor. The image above by BossLogic is a concept of Daredevil and Spider-Man (2/3 of Team Red) possibly crossing over someday. Next year marks the end of the 2 year period where Disney can once again use the previously Netflix owned characters: Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and The Punisher. But based on the new slate of shows coming to Disney+ like Moon Knight and She Hulk, it does not appear in the books to rehash these older and frankly grittier stories. Some of these we have already known are done and others we need to significantly put to rest the hope in seeing them reappear:
Agents of SHIELD: Based on the end scene of Spider-Man: Far From Home we know that the MCU is going to be doing something with SWORD. Coulson had made a nice cameo on Captain Marvel but those films will no longer take place in the past. Then based on Randall Park’s FBI Agent Jimmy Woo (originally a SHIELD agent in the comics) its looks like they’re moving on up (literally. To the sky.)
Netflix Defenders: Done but ended well. Doubt we see Iron Fist in Shang Chi or Daredevil in the already over the top Spider-Man Hom3. Most of the series ended with cliffhangers but these being the final seasons at least they all ended better than they started. As for the namesake there was an original Defenders team in the comics of the Hulk, Doctor Strange, Silver Surfer, and Namor that could form up sometime down the road.
Ghost Rider (Robbie Reyes): His show got cancelled from Hulu before production but there’s at least a script and a lead in Gabriel Luna out there floating in the Multiverse should they want to use him in Doctor Strange or Blade later down the way. But there’s always Johnny Blaze as well.
Inhumans: I know the series sucked (trust me I powered through it). It wasn’t any fault of the cast or the characters themselves. The Inhumans have some great roots in the comics but not nearly enough for the deciding powers to deem important. The Eternals are essentially going to overlap their roles in the MCU.
Cloak and Dagger/The Runaways: Again we’re seeing many new teens pop up like Mz Marvel Kamala Khan, Ironheart Riri Williams, Hawkeye Kate Bishop, etc. so I’m just not sure the need for these teen heroes is quite there and many people didn’t think the Runaways was worth producing at the time anyways.
X-Force: Marvel Studios talked as if they are pushing for this to happen but it’s yet to be confirmed. Deadpool for sure. Do they maintain the original cast as far as Josh Brolin as Cable as well? Mostly questions for the X-Men properties.
New Mutants: I know they confirmed that the film that took forever to come out only to receive critical reviews is considered to be a part of the MCU but remember they said the same of the tv shows and that never proved out. I think any further iterations get recast but maybe they keep one or two like Anya-Taylor Joy’s Magik. That’s the Incredible Hulk treatment maintaining William Hurt’s Thaddeus Ross and now Tim Roth’s Abomination but essentially nothing else including the lead actor.

So, let me throw this into the universe and maybe they can get out of my head and into the world.
A MacGyver male OC that worked with Desi before and is hired to the time in a capacity kind of like that agent on Season 2, undercover work, dealing with people, accessing places, that kind of thing. He comes right after Desi and Angus break up because they are incompatible and get kind in the middle of the two because of the awkwardness. After a while, he starts to fall for Angus and keeps asking to be in the HQ until Desi confronts him and he tells how he feels. Parallel to this Mac is getting restless because OC isn't coming to the missions and when Rileu asks why it bothers him so much, he confess he may be feeling some new feelings, it can even tight up with the whole mac/jack situation that should definitely have happen. Anyway, OC thinks mac is straight and feels horrible because of Desi, Mac thinks OC isn't interested and he isn't sure what he is feeling, some angst, some miscommunication, some ill die for you in some mission, maybe even some Riley/Desi because is so much better then a love triangle. Faceclaim: idk. Name: Luke Holt
Legacies male OC creates as a result of a deal Hope makes with a magical spirit to defeat Malivore. The witch ghost says she'll have to give up being unique and therefore OC appears out of nowhere from her DNA, kind of a magical twin. She hates it and keeps telling everyone that she'll never see him as a brother, but everyone knows she lost so much family, she is just guarding himself. He, on the other hand, has no history, no nothing, just all the stuff hope knows with fighting and magic and stuff. Also, he is bi and both Rafael and josie get interested in him and they decided to be a ot3 because it's just the perfect setup. So monsters, teen romance, ot3, people brought together by ridiculous circumstances becoming family, some lizzie/oc one line sparring and both making fun of Landon. Faceclaim: Connor Jessup; Name: Nicolas Michaelson
A Marvel male OC that was in a Shield Academy during Winter Soldier and his school was attacked because of a technology he helped develop and Hydra started to kill his schoolmates until he unlocked the access codes. OC goes crazy and kills the agents until he is found covered in blood next to his schoolmates corpses. He goes into an institution until Steve takes him out to help track down Bucky and becomes his legal guardian (he is seventeen) and he goes through all the movies. He helps in age of Ultron, where we see some of the relationships with the other avengers, like Tony keeps saying he should work for him and he keeps saying no, asking natasha to teach some fighting things and Hawkeye wants to teach him archery and he is like 'I'm just trying to see if I can convince thor to take out his shirt' while Bruce is like 'it's late, you should be sleeping' and he is like 'you are a human disaster, shut up'.
Civil war goes super bad because he is all team cap and Tony keeps saying they should not be putting the kid in the middle of the thing, but he was almost murdered in a state controlled institution, so he is not ready to put the government in charge of superpowers. He has crazy tech glasses first (sorry for from home) and is not afraid to use it.
He goes to wakanda with bucky, but Tony negotiates a deal for him to go back to the States under his mentorship. He moves to the same building where Peter Parker lives and Peter had a big big crush on him. Tony asks OC to look after Peter, but he gets involved in the whole stolen tech thing and Tony gets mad. Steve gets mad. He yells lot.
This one is kind of a 'solo' movie where Oc goes work for a construction company and his boss is a villain that is about to be caught by the FBI for business mess and he finds a way to blame OC and his own daughter, Kate Bishop. So OC and Kate have to work together to get her father and they become best friends and partners and that goes on to influence his other stories (there was no Hawkeye show when I plotted this. I don't know what I'm gonna do about it). Peter shows up for a cameo on this, but it's more about OC and Bishop becoming partners in crime/superheroing. At the end, they find out that OC is inhuman and had the option to use the rock thing to get his powers. He destroys it because he says he doesn't need it.
Infinity war comes and both Bishop and OC are involved. they keep getting separated by stuff and trying to reach each other while OC gets involved with Tony, strange and Peter in space. At the end, he is not snapped, but Kate is and the movie ends with him losing his mind again and repeating not again because of how he lost his school friends before.
The inhumans believe that they develop the powers the community needs to survive, so endgame is a lot about OC wanting to get powers and Steve fearing it'll just make things worse. He is full uncle to Tony's daughter and helps natasha with keeping the avengers alive, but he is full on not okay and wants to do anything to bring everybody back. He helps with the time heist, but needs to unlock his powers to make it work. Nothing bad happens and he gets some mind and telekinesis powers (think some Jean grey kind of thing). At the end, although he uses his powers to help defeat thanos, it isn't the thing the saves the day and he wonders if that means something bad is still to come. He is super hurt that Steve left, but has to accept it. Maybe he meets Peggy during the time heist just to kind of come full circle. Anyway, no more OC/Peter because he is so much older now (from 2 to 7 years of difference).
He does show up in far from home, in the plane with Happy when Peter is lost in Europe. He helps and even pushes Peter/mj together.
Not sure about the plot for falcon and winter Soldier, but kind of wondering if with people not wanting Sam as cap, maybe try to use OC as caps son and he saying absolutely not. Maybe some OC/bucky if makes sense with what they are doing. Name: Leonard Knight
I'll post more if I remember more.
I also have a ton of seasons plotted for arrowverse Kyle if anyone wants to know .

how many wips are you currently working on and can you tell us about them?? also i am very excited for all of them and i love you
Oh my god you don’t even want to know. I am currently working on a co-written commission with @sevdrag that should go up soon along with a handful of others. For my WIPs that I am picking at I have:
Secret Avengers ‘verse - Two fics, one that has outlined two be around 70-90K words, mostly Winterhawk/Symbrock, but Fratt does make an appearance. This is going to be a fix-it for the current Venom comic run as well as further the story of the Idiots In Love/Didn’t Know They Were Dating Winterhawk saga. The second Secret Avengers fic is going to be a marriage fic! This will be set a year after the long fic, equal Winterhawk/Symbrock/Fratt for ships as well as a few surprise background ships. Expect too much champagne, a singing Clint, a judgemental symbiote (or two), and a very, very stressed out Frank.
Disaster Trio ‘verse - I have some bingo squares for next round in the back of my mind, but my current WIP in this ‘verse is a longer, plotty fic that brings in some other Marvel characters. We’ll see the main Trio acting as a unit, some Winterhawk drama, Eddie finally getting his writing groove back, Steve being nosy, as well as the trial of Frank Castle (represented by Nelson and Murdock). It’ll stick with the no-powers AU, Frank’s story has been changed a bit, as has Matt’s, but Fratt will feature prominently alongside Clint/Bucky/Eddie. We may also figure out if Steve’s straight or not in this verse!
Limitless AU/fusion - This will be two fics: the first one Symbrock and the second Winterhawk/AmeriKate. The first will be a Marvel version of the movie Limitless (Bradley Cooper) and follow Eddie Brock as he experiments with a powerful new drug and its alien source. The second fic will be the Marvel version of the Limitless tv series (Jake McDorman, Jennifer Carpenter) and follow Clint Barton as he accidentally falls in with Eddie and the FBI and gets assigned to Agent Kate Bishop as a consultant. Clint’s all about helping people though, and not even an alien drug can cure him being a himbo - or crushing on his FBI babysitter, Bucky Barnes.
I also have a Clint/Matt bingo square that might squeeze in under the deadline for my Clint/Matt square for the Clint Barton Bingo, a Prison AU (it’s more canon-divergent/what if), and continuing my Earth-65 Fratt Murder Husbands fic (Down To The River)! Once the commission are done, my WIPs will get a bit more love. The puppy has put a bit of a damper on my writing, but once he’s settled in more, I expect to get more done!
Also ilu, plz tell me about your WIPs!

An Observation
So I’m watching NCIS season 11. It’s my first time watching the show through from the beginning (though I’ve seen the new eps live from about season 14 or so.) I’m on episode 13, “Double Back” - the one that deals with the aftermath of the explosion that puts Delilah in the wheelchair - and I’ve noticed that it almost seems like they’re trying to make up for Ziva being gone with a bunch of cool recurring characters and guest stars.
In episodes 9 through 13 alone - only five episodes - we have seen the first appearance of Ellie Bishop (episode 9) and all of these guests:
- Secretary of the Navy Sarah Porter (episode 9)
- Gibbs’ best friend FBI Agent Tobias Fornell (episode 10)
- Gibbs’ and Fornell’s ex-wife Diane Sterling (episode 10)
- Tobias and Diane’s teenage daughter Emily Fornell (episode 10)
- Abby’s science friend Carol Wilson (episode 11)
- Vance’s father-in-law Lamar Addison (episode 11)
- Leon’s daughter Kayla Vance (episode 11)
- Leon’s son Jared Vance (episode 11)
- Jimmy’s wife Breena Palmer (episode 11)
- Gibbs’ ex-girlfriend Lt. Colonel Hollis Mann (episode 12)
- McGee’s girlfriend DOD Analyst Delilah Fielding (episodes 12 & 13)
- Kate’s sister Dr. Rachel Cranston (episode 13)

CLINTON FRANCIS BARTON. AKA HAWKEYE ( not HAWKGUY , definitely not IRON FIST )
BACKSTORY
( canon divergent / a mix of matt fraction’s hawkeye comics + mcu )
abuse and injury tw.
CHILDHOOD.
CLINTON FRANCIS BARTON , born to harold and edith barton, was raised in waverly, iowa. along with his older brother, barney, the two boys worked in their father’s butcher’s shop. however, harold was an abusive man who often drink more than he could take and beat his young boys whenever he felt like it. one particularly violent case left clint partially deaf at six years old when harold slammed him against the refrigerator. barney taught clint to fight, to improve his aim with his slingshot, and the two created their own codes through signs. clint also learned sign language and lip reading to further understand those around him, mostly relying on the latter as he wanted to hide his disability when he was a child. but most importantly, the two boys vowed to each other that they would outlast their father.
and they did. howard’s alcoholism took his own life in a car accident, but the boys also lost their mother. orphaned, clint and barney were sent to numerous foster homes, but they were really never home. the two boy ran away and encountered a traveling circus who took them in as roustabouts. two of the circus performers, swordsman and trickshot took a liking to clint and barney, treated them like sons and trained the boys in skills that could be useful in their future as members of the circus.
swordsman trained clint in art of throwing knives and the two grew close, although they discovered that his true talents was with the bow and arrow while also being trained by trick shot. clint was happy in the circus, until he discovered that his mentor, swordsman, had been stealing money from the circus. compelled to do the right thing, clint wanted to turn in his mentor to authorities. but before he could, he was severely beaten by his mentor, a man he saw as a father figure, and left him for dead until he was discovered by trick shot and barney. swordsman’s betrayal and escape created tensions within the circus, deteriorating his relationship with both trick shot and his own brother. it didn’t take long until barney had enough of the circus and left, enlisting in the army.
abandoned by his brother, clint focused on his archery training and later on, became the carnival attraction known as HAWKEYE, the name a tribute to his native iowa.
SHIELD
HAWKEYE, “the world’s greatest marksman” as the carnival’s patrons would call him caught the attention of SHIELD. nick fury personally asked clint to join SHIELD, to help save the world from threats with his incredible marksmanship. but there was one condition that he asked from fury, a simple enough task for a man with such power: to help him find his brother.
fury immediately tracked down barney, who was a fbi at the time. the two brothers began to reconcile and stitched up old wounds so they could move forward. before climbing up the ranks in SHIELD, clint worked under the supervision of phil coulson and melinda may, and was often paired up with bobbi morse. the two dated on and off, before they eloped on a whim --- which didn’t particularly end well. their marriage lasted only a couple of years but two remained amicable and there for each other.
when clint rose as a level seven agent, clint was tasked to assassinate a global security threat known as the black widow. fighting off the KGB all across europe, he was able to finally track down the mysterious assassin. but unable to pull the trigger to kill someone who clint saw good in during his espionage and reconnaissance, he made a different call. he knew natalia was capable of good, if only someone would give her the chance. clint barton asked her to join SHIELD under his supervision, and natalia became natasha. the supervision quickly became a partnership and with every mission, their friendship developed.
with a near perfect success rate in his missions, clint asked fury of another favor. barney wanted to start a family and retire but clint feared that his status as high-level shield operative and barney’s own work in the fbi would endanger barney’s life. with fury’s help, barney was given a farm off-the-grid, his information erased from SHIELD and other records that would link him to clint, so he could live peacefully with his girlfriend, laura and start their family. clint would often visit barney and laura, sometimes with natasha --- one of the few people he trusted enough to tell about his family.
MCU-CANON CHANGES
AVENGERS
no serious change.
DURING WINTER SOLDIER
recuperating after the battle of new york, clint decided to stay in new york than go to washington d.c. like steve and natasha. ( also i just need to make up some reason why clint wasn’t involved there despite being a higher-level shield agent than both natasha and steve. )
during this time, clint met kate bishop who he began to train to take up the hawkeye mantle whenever he’d decide to retire.
clint forced the boss of a russian mafia to let him an apartment building to prevent his neighbors from being evicted when their rent was tripled. clint got in an argument with the “tracksuit draculas” and lucky who was the mafia’s dog at the time decided to protect clint when the criminals began to attack him. in the fight, lucky was hit by a car and clint rushed him to the hospital. lucky survived but lost an eye, and clint decided to be his new owner.
while in new york, clint and kate began to aid against crime in clint’s neighborhood, getting in the way of various mob bosses’ plans. the tracksuit draculas also wanted the apartment building back from clint. the mob bosses hired a mercenary named kazimierz kazimierczak to kill clint. kazi killed grills, one of clint’s friends and neighbor, and in their fight, kazi the clown stabbed clint’s ears with his own arrows, worsening clint’s hearing loss.
however, clint and kate were able to stop kazi and the mob bosses in the end before clint had to leave to aid the other avengers in taking down hydra bases. clint left lucky with kate during this time.
AGE OF ULTRON
the farm was barney's and laura was barney’s wife.
barney’s baby would still be named nathaniel pietro, a tribute to his brother’s best friend and someone who saved clint’s life. wanda would also be introduced to the barton family.
CIVIL WAR
clint didn’t retire. probably just took a much needed indefinite leave so he could spend time with his brother and the new baby. clint was obviously against the accords and just ignored thunderbolt ross’ calls, thinking that none of the avengers would sign it anyway nor would they tell the government the farm’s location. but when steve asked his help which meant things were turning into shit, he was very quick to act to save wanda from the house arrest in the compound and picked up scott lang along the way.
FINGER FINGER SNAP SNAP KISS KISS
during the snap, clint lost his brother and barney’s entire family.
it sent clint in really deep depression where he just refused to communicate. he took his hearing aids out and just stopped talking to people. the once loudmouth clint barton lost all his self-confidence and became a silent shell of the man he was. i think only natasha could have gotten him out of this stage and brought him to the avengers compound.
A FEW HEADCANONS
takes out his hearing aids whenever tony starts talking about himself
he usually just wears pajamas, drinking coffee out of the pot, getting drunk on the couch, and not showering for let’s-not-guess-how-long. likes to sleep and sometimes only talks to natasha and his dog. really just wants to hide away and tune the world out … boi is rly going thru it.
but when he does feel energized, he probably spends most of it in children’s hospitals and taking care of kids because of how much he misses his nieces and nephews.
when conflict arises, he still does his duties. he may be a human that would never scratch thanos in a team of supersoldiers, gods, and mutants but he still has the conviction, the sense of justice and right and wrong, that makes him worth of being an avenger. plus, its hard not to do the right thing when you’re around captain america. clint barton is really just this guy that no matter how shitty his life is, how much of a hot mess he is, he will always help people no matter what whenever they need him.

[Banner done by the lovely people at ao3commentoftheday!]
Hi everyone! I’ve moved Tumblr’s quite a bit over the years, but I figured that with all of this time gone by, I may as well make a masterlist of all my fics on AO3 so that you can know who I am, and what I’ve written! I’ll be splitting it up by fandom, and this masterpost is for NCIS!
List is under the cut!
Series
Gibbs’ Family [Link]
“This is a team-as-family with a dash of age regression thrown in, because yours truly is like that and loves to make the characters suffer. If you like this series, I recommend Where I Come From by TheGriefPolice, which is a fantastic series written by a fantastic writer who I am privileged to have collabed with on Swing and a Hit, If Nobody Believed in You, The Best Day, and Change. The series comes highly recommended.”
Autistic McGee Ficlets [Link]
What it says on the tin.
The Adventures of Polyamorous Parenting [Link]
Fic series where Tim is an age regressor, but no one else is.
“It all starts with a thump, and it grows from there.”
Bad Things Happen Bingo Card [Link]
Prompt fills for the Bad Things Happen Bingo.
Gibbs’ Extended Family Adventures [Link]
“Gibbs' Family has gotten understandably crowded, and while most stories focus on the MCRT, there are a growing number featuring some of the "extended family," so to speak. If the main focus is on the extended family without any of the MCRT stealing or sharing the spotlight, then those stories will also end up in this side-series, as an easy way to track them.”
Memories of a Strung-Out Fictive [Link]
A series for one of our system’s protectors to share memories of what his life was like before.
Misc.
She [Link]
Rating: T
Warnings: None
Tim McGee has never quite fit in a binary. And today, she is going to show that, no matter the repercussions he faces. Not for Tony fans, at all. You have been warned.
[Podfic] Grown Men Don’t Cry [Link]
Rating: G
Warnings: None
A podfic of TheGriefPolice's story, Grown Men Don't Cry. A little surprise for a great friend.
I (Can’t) See a Light [Link]
Rating: T
Warnings: None
Timothy McGee has struggled with depression for a while now. One night, he decides enough is enough. But the best laid plans of mice and men often go awry...
Final Straw [Link]
Rating: T
Warnings: None
Also known as I Read a Thing On Tumblr And This Idea Wouldn't Leave Me. McGee is just a tiny bit panromantic, Torres is a tiny bit of a jerk, and Delilah doesn't exist as an obstacle between them.
Seven Minutes in Heaven [Link]
Rating: T
Warnings: None
Because I'm literally the only person who writes this ship on AO3, have a "seven minutes in heaven" McTorres fic that literally no one but myself asked for.
Tattoos [Link]
Rating: T
Warnings: None
If you've ever seen someone you like and then think oh no, they're hot, then you have felt Timothy McGee's pain. His only problem? He's bisexual and Nick has some body art Tim likes. Oh, if only he didn't feel attraction to his co-workers!
The Survivor System [Link]
Rating: T
Warnings: None
They call themselves The Survivor System, because that's what they did.
They survived childhood.
They survived puberty.
They survived college.
They even survived work.
...Well, that last one needed some tweaking, seeing as Tim opened his big fat mouth.
Bullet [Link]
Rating: T
Warnings: Chose not to use warnings
Based on the song Bullet by Hollywood Undead. He's had enough, now it's time for him to jump.
He Sat on His Hands [Link]
Rating: T
Warnings: Major Character Death
A little challenge for myself in which I try to write a story using exactly 500 words.
He couldn't believe this. How had this happened? How could this happen?
He sat on his hands.
Four-Seven-Eight [Link]
Rating: G
Warnings: None
Tony wakes up in the middle of the night having problems breathing. At least Gibbs is right there to help him through it.
Coffee Date [Link]
Rating: G
Warnings: None
Bishop and Jack have a date at the coffee shop. I may or may not have gained a new rarepair ship.
“I Killed Him, Boss” [Link]
Rating: T
Warnings: None
An AU where McGee is a serial killer. Just a scene that's been bouncing around in my head for over a year.
We’ll Fix It Together [Link]
Rating: M
Warnings: Rape/Non-con
Continuation of When It's Broke (Fix It) by TT40_Angst_Queen. Going to Vance and the fallout that comes from that. This won't make a lick of sense unless you read that first. Fair warning, this is a very dark story. Read the tags and be cautious!
Swing, Batter, Swing [Link]
Rating: T
Warnings: Chose not to use warnings
What if Hicks decided to take matters into his own hands when Gibbs suspected he wasn't as innocent as he seemed? What if he decided to go after Gibbs' team as retaliation for Gibbs' suspicions? And what if the person he went after was none other than McGee?
...Spoiler alert: It doesn't end well.
A Deer Mistake [Link]
Rating: G
Warnings: None
Vance's new dress code has everyone a little...wild.
Silly String and Vacuums [Link]
Rating: G
Warnings: None
Domestic bliss between Clayton Reeves and Nick Torres because I need to know I can write something again.
It’s Not a Rose [Link]
Rating: T
Warnings: None
What was the tattoo that Kate got with Abby that fateful night?
Operation: Jack and Ellie [Link]
Rating: G
Warnings: None
Bishop likes Sloane, which makes the woman from the FBI who has history with Sloane sizable competition. Torres is a good wingman, and McGee wishes all of them could just get over themselves already.
The Bet [Link]
Rating: G
Warnings: None
It's no secret to anyone that Ellie and Nick are dancing around each other. It's not a matter of if, it's a matter of when.
Broken Obsession [Link]
Rating: M
Warnings: Rape/Non-Con
McGee goes undercover on a mission and goes dark for twenty-four hours, when the team finds him again, he isn't quite the same...and they're not sure he ever will be again. Now Gibbs is left putting back the pieces of McGee's life together again, like a broken item one would focus on fixing until it borders obsession, hoping, praying that maybe, just maybe, his agent will someday come back from this...whatever "this" even is.
