Bishova Holiday Challenge 2024 - Rules and Prompt Ideas!

Background History:

On November 24 it will be three years since Marvel brought the Hawkeye series to the little screen. 6 episodes and 5 weeks of getting to know Kate Bishop with a hint of Yelena Belova. Despite having less than 45 minutes of screen time their chemistry was explosive. Since then, amazing fanfiction writers around the world have created amazing stories about these two. So, with the anniversary of the show coming up, I decided to bring back the Bishova Holiday Challenge.

After a month of voting the Bishova Community has spoken. Below you will find the 5 top themes/prompt ideas. We had 728 votes, which is crazy. I want to thank all the writers, and fans who voted. I want to thank Oh Alpha My alpha discord friends. Who voted and came up with some of the ideas. The remaining prompts that did not win will be reposted just as prompt ideas for the public.

Rules:

This year the challenge will be 6 weeks with the last week being the writers’ choice.

These prompts will have mini-ideas attached to them but you do not have to follow them to tea, just stick to the general theme.

The stories must be posted on A03. Use #BISHOVAHOLIDAYCHALLENGE2024 & Week # for which week was written for

Only can be 1-3 chapters long while the challenge is up. After the challenge if you want to continue them, please do.

You can prewrite your stories and co-write them with others. But they cannot be published before the challenge.

It is encouraged that you participate in all 6 weeks to be eligible for the prize but if you can’t it’s all good.

Also to be considered for the top Grand winners you can’t miss a week. So if you miss week 1, you can still participated and try to be a weekly winner but you will not be eligible for the Grand Prize over the whole challenge.

It is not completely finalized, and it can still fall through but right now I am working on getting art pieces for the top three winners.

Week 1: Nov 10th – Nov 16th - Grinchmas (Idea Credit – Chi_Raven) (Suggested Rating – G) Yelena gets a part time gig as a mall Grinch. She does it too well and ends up on Kate Bishop’s Naughty list daughter of Santa Clause or Yelena dresses up as the Grinch and runs around scaring kids.

Week 2: Nov 17th – Nov 23rd – Fake Dating Winter Love – (Idea Credit MidnightJuilet) (Suggested Rating G-E) Yelena created a fake girlfriend to attend her ex’s winter wedding. Enter Kate Bishop!

Week 3: Nov 24th – Nov 30th -Eggnog Love – (Idea Credit MidnightJuilet) (Suggested Rating E) The villain of the week spikes the eggnog at the Holiday Party with liquid sex pollen. Freakiness ensues!

Week 4: Dec 1st – Dec 7th- Lumberjack Christmas - (Idea Credit MidnightJuilet) (Suggested Rating G - E) Kate goes to the mountains to get away and meets her mountain woman!

Week 5: Dec 8th – Dec 14th -Winter Blaze Saved by the Sexy firefighter (Idea Credit CelticKitten25 & DYL) (Suggested Rating G - E) Yelena wakes up to her apartment on fire out of nowhere a short buff fire fighter comes in with her one-eyed dog to rescue her and her akita. And she is only wearing a nightie.

The Lost Christmas Letters

Many letters to Santa are damaged or destroyed when a fire breaks out at the local post office. Kate, a rookie firefighter straight out of the academy, rescues some of the half-burned letters and decides to read them, discovering heartbreaking messages from children residing in an orphanage.

Touched, Kate gathers the team to fulfill as many wishes as possible and give Yelena the ultimate Christmas gift along the way.

❄️❄️❄️Bishova Holiday Challenge 2024 has Begun !❄️❄️❄️

The time has come! It is Nov 10 for many if not all and that’s means the Bishova Holiday Challenge is up and running. For 6 weeks writers will bring you holiday theme stories about our favorite women that had the least amount of screen time together but oozed sexual tension! The first week theme is Grinchmas! A handful of writers if not more will posting their stories this week following the theme. Some will be spicy some will bring the feelings either way the readers win. So sit back get the snacks and come along for the ride!

Also if you love a story please vote, after each week the writer’s will be enter into a poll for best story of the week. Also if a writer participates in all 6 weeks of the challenge then the writer will be entered into a poll to determine the top 3 writers and a prize will be given.

Special thanks to the awesome discord community! There this challenge was born last year and has returned again this year. A safe place to discuss all things Marvel including Yelena and Kate but not just limited to them. So please if you want to come over and have fun. BISHOVA HOLLIDAY CHALLENGE 2024 PROMPT VOTING and Challenge Rules

Last year when I created the challenge, all the prompts came from my scary but wonderful imaginative brain. This year I decided to reach out to Oh Alpha, My Alpha discord.  Which I will have linked below. There my wonderful virtual friends I have made gave me wonderful prompt ideas. 20 -25 to be honest. I do not feel like counting. So now it is time for us to vote.

Below you will find a link to prompt ideas. Voting will close Aug 31st. You can vote as many times as you want. The top 5 prompt ideas will be chosen for the challenge and announced early September. The remaining prompts that did not win will be reposted just as prompt ideas for the public mid sept.

The Ghost of the Christmas Market

Kate is a vendor at the Bryant Park Winter Market trying to sell her homemade trinkets. She's worried about possible ghost sightings ruining her night but is able to have a good sales day without much incident, that is, until she meets someone she never expected.

Week 6 for the Bishova Holiday Challenge 2024 is coming to a close with the theme of writers choice.

Here is my entry with a supernatural Christmas theme.

First, I must give a huge, ginormous, most heartfelt, loving THANK YOU to Writer_At_Heart. The AO3 curse has finally gotten me, and as I was trying to write this prompt, I was blasted with a crippling pain in my right wrist which, so far, seems to be tendonitis. It's been an entire week of wearing a brace and I am only now feeling better.

So, I accepted that I was out of the running for week 6 and told my dear friend about it. Out of the kindness and sheer generosity of her heart, she told me she would finish the fic for me, asking what the outline was for the fic. Because she won't let me add her as a co-author, this fic is gifted to you, Writer_At_Heart. Your intrepid imagination has added so much to this story, as well as the tasteful spin you put on someone dealing with grief.

I will always be grateful to you and your unwavering support. The words "thank you" simply aren't enough. I am forever in your debt.

Goodbye 4 Now! Bishova Holiday Challenge!

Bishova Holiday Challenge future:

As of today, the Bishova Holiday Challenge Is over. Week 5 voting is done, and winners will be announced shortly. Week 6 voting and best writer voting will also go up shortly as well. Both polls will be run simultaneously.

 So, for the elephant in the room, last week I went on a rant because I was noticing the stories did not have a lot of the holiday part which to me is a big part of the challenge…. I mean look at the name. First and foremost, this was not geared towards any one story… I know some people assume it was, but it wasn’t. Another thing I think people thought was voter fraud. I will say when the voting numbers jumped, I did look at the stories closely to see if the stories were really being read and even reach out to the writers and ask what the stats for their stories were. And the reports I got were comments were low, but hits and kudos were high which led me to interpret that the voting was legit and no problems there.

So back to the rant why did I go off my rocker? You see when Hawkeye came out it was marketed as a winter tv series. I mean it came out November, the final episodes had a massive tree, it had the trope of Clint potentially missing Christmas with his family and so on. And yet it was still an Avengers series, kickass fights, humor, and putty arrows. Here is where many in the Bishova Community fell in love with the idea of Kate and Yelena. Two badass independent strong women who would be part of the future of the MCU.

So, when I created the challenge last year my two goals were to get more Bishova stories as well more stories that gave the same holiday feeling we got from the series. That was my goal this year as well. I am happy to say thanks to some awesome writers that the first goal was achieved, the 2nd one fell short this year. I think for me that why I went off the deep end. I was chasing a fantasy. Also, I think there was some confusion that the challenge had to include Christmas. The reason it was called Holiday challenge was I did not want just Christmas, writers could have reconned our characters to celebrate Hannukah, Kwanza or something else. The only stipulation was it was a winter holiday. It could have also been something where the characters ruin the holiday because they hate it. I think that was lost in translation. Regardless, it does not excuse my rant last week. So, I apologize to all the fabulous writers who participated. Without yall this challenge would be dead in the water like them great whites sharks that keep getting murked by killer whales.

I do not know if this challenge will be back next year. I am not sure if people even want it back after my tantrum last week which is fair. If it does come back, it will be different how I do not know, but it will be. I think I will still list some holiday prompts if the challenge is not back cause my mind is a scary place and I need an outlet. So, for next year I do not know what the future holds. Plus, I think right now since we have not seen Kate and Yelena on screen together in years the fandom is in a lull, so hopefully that changes.
