Bishova Holiday Challenge 2024 - Rules and Prompt Ideas!

Background History:

On November 24 it will be three years since Marvel brought the Hawkeye series to the little screen. 6 episodes and 5 weeks of getting to know Kate Bishop with a hint of Yelena Belova. Despite having less than 45 minutes of screen time their chemistry was explosive. Since then, amazing fanfiction writers around the world have created amazing stories about these two. So, with the anniversary of the show coming up, I decided to bring back the Bishova Holiday Challenge.

After a month of voting the Bishova Community has spoken. Below you will find the 5 top themes/prompt ideas. We had 728 votes, which is crazy. I want to thank all the writers, and fans who voted. I want to thank Oh Alpha My alpha discord friends. Who voted and came up with some of the ideas. The remaining prompts that did not win will be reposted just as prompt ideas for the public.

Rules:

This year the challenge will be 6 weeks with the last week being the writers’ choice.

These prompts will have mini-ideas attached to them but you do not have to follow them to tea, just stick to the general theme.

The stories must be posted on A03. Use #BISHOVAHOLIDAYCHALLENGE2024 & Week # for which week was written for

Only can be 1-3 chapters long while the challenge is up. After the challenge if you want to continue them, please do.

You can prewrite your stories and co-write them with others. But they cannot be published before the challenge.

It is encouraged that you participate in all 6 weeks to be eligible for the prize but if you can’t it’s all good.

Also to be considered for the top Grand winners you can’t miss a week. So if you miss week 1, you can still participated and try to be a weekly winner but you will not be eligible for the Grand Prize over the whole challenge.

There will be 6 weekly winners. After each week I will create a poll with the stories that qualified, and readers can pick the winner. The winners get bragging rights. 

After all, 6 weeks are done the writers who participated in all 6 weeks and followed the rules will be entered on a poll to qualify as the top 3 winners of the WHOLE CHALLENGE, voted on by the fans.

It is not completely finalized, and it can still fall through but right now I am working on getting art pieces for the top three winners.

Week 1: Nov 10th – Nov 16th - Grinchmas (Idea Credit – Chi_Raven) (Suggested Rating – G) Yelena gets a part time gig as a mall Grinch. She does it too well and ends up on Kate Bishop’s Naughty list daughter of Santa Clause or Yelena dresses up as the Grinch and runs around scaring kids.

Week 2: Nov 17th – Nov 23rd – Fake Dating Winter Love – (Idea Credit MidnightJuilet) (Suggested Rating G-E) Yelena created a fake girlfriend to attend her ex’s winter wedding. Enter Kate Bishop!

Week 3: Nov 24th – Nov 30th -Eggnog Love – (Idea Credit MidnightJuilet) (Suggested Rating E) The villain of the week spikes the eggnog at the Holiday Party with liquid sex pollen. Freakiness ensues!

Week 4: Dec 1st – Dec 7th- Lumberjack Christmas - (Idea Credit MidnightJuilet) (Suggested Rating G - E) Kate goes to the mountains to get away and meets her mountain woman!

Week 5: Dec 8th – Dec 14th -Winter Blaze Saved by the Sexy firefighter (Idea Credit CelticKitten25 & DYL) (Suggested Rating G - E) Yelena wakes up to her apartment on fire out of nowhere a short buff fire fighter comes in with her one-eyed dog to rescue her and her akita. And she is only wearing a nightie.

Week 6: 16th – Dec 21st – Writer’s Choice

The Eggnog Truce

Kate and Yelena are two rival cafe owners on opposite sides of a snowy street. Each year, they compete to see who makes the best eggnog in town. When a snowstorm traps them both in the same building, repressed feelings arise as they wait for help.

❄️❄️❄️Bishova Holiday Challenge 2024 has Begun !❄️❄️❄️

The time has come! It is Nov 10 for many if not all and that’s means the Bishova Holiday Challenge is up and running. For 6 weeks writers will bring you holiday theme stories about our favorite women that had the least amount of screen time together but oozed sexual tension! The first week theme is Grinchmas! A handful of writers if not more will posting their stories this week following the theme. Some will be spicy some will bring the feelings either way the readers win. So sit back get the snacks and come along for the ride!

Also if you love a story please vote, after each week the writer’s will be enter into a poll for best story of the week. Also if a writer participates in all 6 weeks of the challenge then the writer will be entered into a poll to determine the top 3 writers and a prize will be given.

Special thanks to the awesome discord community! There this challenge was born last year and has returned again this year. A safe place to discuss all things Marvel including Yelena and Kate but not just limited to them. So please if you want to come over and have fun. Many of the writers who participate in the challenge are in the discord so it’s a great way to chat to your favorite writer. I’ll add the link below. BISHOVA HOLLIDAY CHALLENGE 2024 PROMPT VOTING and Challenge Rules

So, with the anniversary of the show coming up, I decided to bring back the Bishova Holiday Challenge.

Last year when I created the challenge, all the prompts came from my scary but wonderful imaginative brain. This year I decided to reach out to Oh Alpha, My Alpha discord.  Which I will have linked below. There my wonderful virtual friends I have made gave me wonderful prompt ideas. 20 -25 to be honest. I do not feel like counting. So now it is time for us to vote.

Below you will find a link to prompt ideas. Voting will close Aug 31st. You can vote as many times as you want. The top 5 prompt ideas will be chosen for the challenge and announced early September. The remaining prompts that did not win will be reposted just as prompt ideas for the public mid sept.

Once the winning prompts are chosen in Oct, I will post an update of the challenge rules with the prompts for each week. This year the challenge will be 6 weeks with the last week being the writers’ choice.

The Holiday Romance Experience

Kate is a private investigator in the city after she quit college and her mom went to jail. A client comes in to give her a job tracking down her cheating husband and gathering proof for her divorce settlement.

It's a high-paying job that would set Kate up for the next few months. The only catch is that she needs to complete her task by Christmas Day, and the husband is at a retreat: The Holiday Romance Experience, where couples spend three days in a magical winter town.

The other caveat is that Kate needs a "date" to get in.

At first, she's unsure who to ask, but a certain widow crashes into her home at just the right time.

What could go wrong?

Calling all writers who are participating in the Bishova Holiday Challenge of 2024!

As we get into week 2 of the challenge and before we get to far ahead I want to bring attention to something I noticed while skimming some stories for the challenge. I want to caution writers to not put the holiday part on the back burner when writing your stories especially on weeks where the theme is not traditional winter ish.

Hawkeye was marketed as a Christmas or Winter Holiday series with Marvel seasoning added. The reason this challenge is held in November/December is to pay homage for when the show aired but also to add a bunch of Christmas or Winter Holiday stories to the community.

So please don’t make the holiday part an afterthought, it doesn’t have to be Christmas it can be any winter holidays or just have winter themes. So when writing the weeks with the lumberjacks, the firefighters and even your writers choice story which don’t explicitly reference a winter theme please include that in your story.

Bishova Holiday Challenge 2024 - Additional Info!

The Bishova Holiday Challenge has official begun! Week 1 will end 11/16 and week 2 starts 11/17. As a reminder to those who plan to participate if you write a story and follow the rules for all 6 weeks then the top 3 writers will get a prize. To qualify you must writer a story for all 6 weeks. For additional rules see previous post in more info is needed or message me directly!

Third place will get the comic book art poster of Hawkeye and Black Widow - 2 separate pieces (bought on Etsy)

2nd place - will get watercolor portraits of Kate Bishop and Yelena Belova - 2 separate pieces (bought on Etsy)

1st place - will get a Black and white Kate Bishop on an Avenger Blank (commissioned piece by artist ToddBeats) and a commissioned scene of one of their stories from the challenge!
