Fadi Alzant, a 6-year-old from Gaza has endured months of inadequate nutritional and medical care for his Cystic Fibrosis. Stranded in Kamal Adwan hospital in northern Gaza, his chronic condition steadily worsened with each passing day leaving him acutely malnourished and suffering from pneumonia.
Fortunately, Fadi's situation took a turn for the better when PCRF's Treatment Abroad Team, Fadi was first evacuated from the north of Gaza to the South of Gaza by our team. Once he was in the south of Gaza with PCRF's team on the ground, we were able to facilitate his evacuation to Egypt, where he received immediate care to stabilize his condition. Once he was deemed fit to travel, Fadi was transported to the USA with his mother where he will finally receive the comprehensive treatment he desperately needs. This journey marks a beacon of hope for Fadi and his family, offering a chance at a brighter and healthier future.

Aomine's parents weren't strict in any means, but he was taught savoir-vivre. He knew how to put silverware around the plate, who goes through the door first if you're opening them for someone, etc. His mother made sure he would know it because one day, he was gonna have to treat his woman right or she would leave him.
So naturally, when Kagami and Aomine started dating, Aomine started to look at those things and seek them in his boyfriend.
Don't get him wrong, Aomine was really happy Kagami made them dinner, but... but the silverware was wrong. If Kagami decided to go on with forks and knives, he should know the knife was on the right, together with a spoon, and the fork was on the left.
He was really glad he had food on his plate, but for fuck's sake, it hurt his eyes! Kagami decided to make french cuisine, he went with the silverware and as someone who lived in USA where they eat with forks more often than they do with chopsticks, Kagami should have known that!
And yet, Aomine's favorite mistake was opening the door. Kagami always loved to hold the door for him, but he apparently didn't know that when you push the door to open them, you're supposed to go through them first and hold them open from the other side, otherwise there was no space for the other person to actually pass.
Don't get him wrong, Aomine loved how Kagami cared for him. But after the fifth time Kagami firstly helped Aomine put on his jacket and then put on his own, making Aomine wait in the coat... well, he snapped.
"OH FOR FUCK'S SAKE, YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO PUT YOURS ON FIRST, YOU UNEDUCATED IDIOT!"
"HAH?!", Kagami frowned. "WHAT DO YOU MEAN?!"
Aomine corrected his every mistake since then. He refused to pass through the push door if Kagami didn't pass through it first, he refused to eat unless the silverware was placed down correctly, he refused to walk down the stairs if Kagami wasn't going down first, or he didn't let Kagami help put on his coat.
It was Aomine's birthday when Kagami took him out on a date. A fancy restaurant, and it all started perfectly. Kagami opened the push door the correct way, they went up the stairs to their table, Kagami helped him sit down, they ate, they left with the correct savoir-vivre and finally, they got home and Aomine couldn't have been happier.
"Hey, Taiga", he turned around after they passed through the door. He was rarely this straightforward, but Kagami was too much of an idiot to understand it any other way. He put his hands around Kagami's neck and kissed him. "Thank you."
"For what?"
"For learning all of that... And for always treating me like that."
"You're getting the princess treatment you deserve, baby."
"Fuck off", Aomine tsked. "But thanks... Bakagami."
Maybe an idiot like his boyfriend can learn something after all. Savoir-vivre or no, Aomine would still love him the same. Just less annoyed.

The NHS will last as long as there are folk left to fight for itā€ ā€“ Aneurin Bevan
Iā€™m no fan of Keir Starmer or Rishi Sunak. Sunak is completely out of touch with ordinary people and Starmer will promise just about anything to get himself into power and then break those promise when it suits him.Ā  However when it comes to the future of the NHS I feel it will be safer under a Labour government than one run by free market, neo-liberal Tories.
From a purely selfish perspectiveĀ  - something the Conservative Party excels at - the NHS saves all of us a small fortune. When your child needs medical care it is free at the point of use; when your parents need medical care it is free at the point of use; and when YOU need medical care it is free at the point of use.
Of course we pay for this through taxes and national insurance contributions but the clue is in the phrase ā€œnational insuranceā€. Medical treatment in Britain, is, at the moment, paid for through collective funding. It is a system based on community, social responsibility, and the old fashioned concept of caring for your neighbour. . AneurinĀ  Bevan, the "Father of the NHSā€ said:
ā€œNo society can legitimately call itself civilized if a sick person is denied medical aid because of lack of means."
It is a sad fact that Conservative Party members, many of them rich individuals who can afford private medical treatment, have been undermining the NHS because of their unwavering adherence to the ideological belief that all things run by private enterprise are good while all public sector institutions are bad. . The Toryā€™s will, of course deny this, claiming the NHS is save in their hands and that they have no plans to privatise it.
Ā Lets look at the facts.
Despite Prime Minister David Cameron promising there would be no cuts to the NHS this was the headline in the Daily Mirror when the Conservatives took over from Labour in 2012.
ā€œDavid Cameron cuts NHS spending by Ā£500million.ā€ (06/11/12)
Two years later and we have this headline from the Guardian:
ā€œDavid Cameron accused of hypocrisy over Ā£1.4bn ā€˜raidā€™ on NHS funding." (06/07/2012)
By 2014 NHS staff were on strike because of the Tory government refused to give them a 1% pay rise. Rows over poor pay and under-funding continue to this day.
While Jeremy Hunt was Health Secretary patient experience and staff moral took a dramatic turn for the worse. Despite presenting himself as a ā€œchampion of patient safetyā€, targets were missed, waiting times increased, and the very fabric of some hospitals began to crumble, leading to Hunt being labelled ā€œthe man who ruined the NHSā€. (Open Democracy: 08/07/22)
In 2016 The Independent ran this headline:
ā€œJeremy Hunt co-authored book calling for NHS to be replaced with private insurance.ā€ (10/02/2016)
Is it any wonder the NHS has been seriously under-funded and run down when the man in charge was an advocate of private medical health insurance? Millionaires like Cameron (Ā£40m) Hunt (Ā£15m) and Sunak (Ā£651m) can afford to pay for expensive medical care but the rest of us are not so fortunate.
This brings me back to the purely selfish reason we should vote for the party most likely to protect the NHS. Below are some AVERAGE costs for private medical procedures and treatments in the USA provided by Statistica 2021
Heart valve replacementā€¦ā€¦.$170,000Ā Ā Ā Ā  Ā£133,390
Heart bypassā€¦ā€¦ā€¦ā€¦ā€¦ā€¦ā€¦.......$123,000Ā Ā Ā Ā  Ā£96,518
Cornea (per eye) ā€¦ā€¦ā€¦ā€¦ā€¦......$17,000Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā  Ā£13,339
IVF treatments ā€¦ā€¦ā€¦ā€¦ā€¦ā€¦......$15,400Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā  Ā£12,084
Hysterectomy ā€¦ā€¦ā€¦ā€¦ā€¦ā€¦ā€¦.....$5200Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā  Ā£4,080
In addition, Americans have to pay for their stay in hospital. This fee is on top of medical treatment costs. According to Debt.org (30/11/23) the price for the average stay in hospital of 4.6 days is $13,262. (Ā£10,406)
Whatever your political leanings, the protection and restoration of the NHS should take precedent over all other electoral considerations because we will ALL need medical treatment at some stage in our lives be that as a child or as an adult.
We know the Tory mantra "private sector good public sector badā€ just doesnā€™t live up to reality: we only have to look at our polluted waterways to realise this. Whether Keir Starmer would be any better at protecting the NHS from profit motivated private companies is a moot point.
With headlines like:
ā€œCan Wes Streetingā€™s private sector plans save the NHS?ā€ (Guardian: 14/04/24)
and
ā€œLabourā€™s Wes Streeting just used the SUN to talk up NHS privatisationā€ (Canary: 08/04/24)
we cannot rely on the Labour Party leadership to protect the NHS from the profiteering private sector, not least because Wes Streeting has been paid Ā£175,000 from donors linked to private health firms. (National: 14/04/24) There is no such thing as a free lunch so one doesnā€™t have to wonder to hard what these ā€œdonorsā€ might want in return for their money!
Even so, I feel there are those within the Labour Party who would work very hard to stop the leadership of the party from running down the NHS to the point of collapse, as is the Tory plan, so with great reservation I will be voting Labour in the coming elections.

Idk how to do this-
Okay okay, so this is for Iceland in #modern + war au thats in the works
My yandere alphabet!
Thank u for the rec, btw :33
Tumblr media
Iceland
Affection: How do they show their love and affection for their darling? Brutal or soft?
ā†’ He is still alive in this AU, just hiding in the UN building.
ā†’ He shows his love by showering them with gifts, usually handmade. His darling's gifts must be perfect. My man here will be mastering his crafts so that his darling can have the best of the best, perfect, just like how he envisiond his darling.
Callous or Care: How would they treat their darling? Cold indifference and cruelty, or would they treat their darling with kindness and patience?
ā†’ Iceland will treat their darling with the utmost care and attention. Patience is a virtue he upholds dearly, and will wait for as long as possible for his darling to mend to his way. He isn't one to harm his darling, rather, Iceland prefers to lovebomb his darling, then acts indifferent to them in the next minute. The confusion and longing swirling behind his darling's eyes are beautiful.
Love: How much do they love their darling? How do they express their love?
ā†’ He loves his darling so so much. Not to the point he will drop everything for his darling, but rather, he thinks highly of his darling, willing to create anything his darling wants as long as he can fulfill it. If the wish is too much for him, he will communicate with his darling to ask for something else. If his darling is being a brat about it, then Iceland simply ignores his darling, giving the silent treatment until his darling came begging to him for attention.
Network: How many connections do they have? Are they social? Do they utilize their connections and network for their darling?
ā†’ A lot, but it's not as much as the other nation's. Especially USA, but Iceland prefers it that way. No matter how many connections he has, Iceland likes to do everything alone, so if his darling even dares escape, well, he can always play prey and the hunter. Where would his darling go, exactly? Iceland has planted chips inside his darling, and hia private officers knows about his darling, so they will be on the lookout everywhere.
ā†’ Iceland does prefer to do things his way, but if push come to push, he is willing to ask a favour to his associates or connections. He will be severely dissapointed in his darling, and will show it. He still loves them tho, but his darling will still receives punishment. To show that he is not playing around.

i hope this isn't too weird a thing to say, but between 'exercise itchies' and 'tomatos aren't spicy?!' i am confident that your kid will never have a potential allergy/health condition go under the radar. like as someone who's seen waaay too many people i know not realize they were allergic to something because folks thought they were just a picky eater, or get their chronic pain brushed off as puberty/growth spurt pain for years, or not realize you aren't supposed to take ibuprofen on a daily basis... yeah, The Bean will not have to worry about that. (BTW if anyone reading this needs to hear it: you shouldn't have headaches on a daily basis that range from 'really unpleasant' to 'incapacitating', and in the name of my brother I suggest you ask a doctor about migraine medication.)
I sure hope that's the case! We already kind of went through it a little bit with her, but more in the sense of keeping on the doctors' case because we knew things Weren't Quite Right. (For the record, Bean's PCP is absolutely incredible, it's just that insurance makes us all jump through a bunch of specialist hoops before they'll pay for the one we really needed, so we had to work our way up the ladder of ineffective treatments and diagnoses til we had the evidence to say "LOOK". And because she wasn't technically underweight or, like, vomiting blood, everyone except us and her primary care doc just called her a "picky eater" until she was able to verbalize what was happening.)
If nothing else, I'm super determined to keep my eyes peeled so she doesn't go through the nonsense we went through for as long as we did.
And yes! Oh my goodness, folks, please listen to Anon: daily headaches are not normal, at any severity! Especially not incapacitating ones! In fact, incapacitating headaches of any frequency should warrant at least a follow up with a doctor!!
Y'know, given the state of health education, medical literacy, and the general attitude toward children in my country (usa, of course -_-), I may have to poll my friendgroup, family, and personal medical histories to start a masterpost of "Hey, that's not normal and you should see someone about that." Because now that I'm thinking about it, there's kind of been a lot.

Attending my third and final session, which was an evening session. This is my first Olympics, but this stadium was built to perfection because I was in Row 81 - nose bleed seats or the third level of seating, but I had a view that was perfect to see every person and every activity with the naked eye. Germany was on my left. France on my right. France and Netherlands in front. The award ceremony was beautiful and a theme song that will play in head and memories for a long time. I have seen the Olympic officials and competitors to change from a white organization, now black organization, and now Asian integration. I heard an international music playlistā€¦Thank goodness for saving me from hearing United States playlist. It was exciting to see the international community knowing other artist's song and dances to them. Thanks to the German couple next to me explaining the different songs matching certain events in the European community. The men's high jump was spectacular won in winning a medal had to be done through a tie-breaker. The men's long distance 5000m was funny because Ethiopia utilized its energy on the 2nd lap to finish and did not even medal on the final lap. The women's 1500m was really good for Kenya to break her own record and win gold for a third timeā€¦I guess will see you in Los Angeles 2028. The women's 110m hurdles was a spectacular for the USA to win and defending champion coming in 3rd with a photo finish. Yes, I am glad the 4x400m USA men and women team won first for their respective races. MVP for this Olympics for USATF women was Gabrielle "Gabby" Thomas with a 4x100m, 200m, and 4x400m gold medals. MVP for this Olympics for USATF men was Noah Lyles and Quincy Wilson because they did their job to provide opportunities for others and both from the DMV metro area. The very disappointing part is the arrogance of USATF not awarding alternates or Team B medals for creating the opportunity of getting an Olympic Record or Medal. I thought Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. was arrogant. I was so proud of the other country teams showed great pride and sportsmanship for every team member whether they participated or not on the relay teams. Yes, I am upset because Quincy Wilson was absent from the medal podiumā€¦I do not know the reasonā€¦I do not care. The USATF women 4x100m showed it also with only four members and no alternate. Africa is getting their teams right (Botswana pushed the h*ll out of that last men's 4x400m relay leg), Europe is getting their teams right, and Asia shown the most improvements on establishing presence where American favorites are marketed to win. I never thought I would see an Asian (Japan) claim first place in women's Javelin. Thanks to the international community to make USATF work for those medals. Thanks most to Mother Africa and the number of Africans that represented countries where we had the most horrid treatment including up today. I personally and professionally thank each African, French, and American athlete for representing me and my DNA makeup. Paris, France in the European Union has set the bar in achieving gender parity, promoting sustainability, unexpected sports categories, and getting the viewership upā€¦now Los Angeles 2028 in the United States of America of North America let's see what you got since 1984. I was only eight (8) years old in 1984 so I knew nothing of the Olympicsā€¦.not until high school I knew of Junior Olympics track and field with Orangeburg Track Club in South Carolina, while attending Cross High School on my high school track and field team.

THIS IS A LONG, BUT IMPORTANT POST, PLEASE READ WITH DISCRESSION
.
This is for educational purposes only.
.
.
.
Trigger Warning for what's happening in Congo right now:
ā€¢ Slavery
ā€¢ Inhumane Treatment
ā€¢ Mentions of SA
ā€¢ Child Endangerment
.
.
.
If you didn't know, right now in Congo people are suffering. Not just suffering, but being completely mistreated, abused, and used as tools. This issue IS NOT new. However, with the recent stream of information from Palestine, people getting educated about that horrific scene, people have brought light to many other issues worldwide that western media turns a blind eye to.
Where even is Congo?
Tumblr media
Congo is an African country, located right on the equator, with most of the country running under it.
The DRC (Democratic Republic of Congo) is not to be confused with the smaller country to the left, The Republic of Congo.
6.9 million people have been displaced since 1996, due to violence. Some of which, directly ties in to forced evictions due to cobalt mining.
Curious to how much that actually is?
This is 1,000 dots
Tumblr media
See how many dots?
Just with that?
Tumblr media
This is 200,000 dots.
Getting into much steeper territory no?
Each of thoes dots is a Congolese person.
Tumblr media
This is 6.2 MILLION dots.
They're nothing but pixels now.
This is LESS than the amount of people displaced in Congo.
Tumblr media
And Congo is a BIG COUNTRY.
It's not a tiny small one.
It's huge.
Tumblr media
I mean, it's as big as HALF the USA.
It's the 11th biggest in the WORLD.
With a population of 95.89 MILLION people.
That means that over 7% of the Congolese people have been displaced.
(Some sources say there are only 86.8 Million people in Congo, such as Livingcost.org, if that is true I do wonder why it jumped down so far!! (This is sarcasm))
That's the same amount of people worldwide currently with college degrees.
Tumblr media
These are the mines in Eastern DRC.
As you can see, it's more than just simply Cobalt.
However, do we even know what Cobalt is?
Tumblr media
Cobalt
Is a highly used metal. Mostly used in machines, such as saws, batteries, surgical implants, and even paints.
There is radioactive, and non-radioactive cobalt.
"Cobalt (Co) is a hard, gray metal that occurs naturally. It is found in rocks, soil, water, plants, and animals, including people. It can harm the eyes, skin, heart, and lungs. Exposure to cobalt may cause cancer. Workers may be harmed from exposure to cobalt and cobalt-containing products. The level of harm depends upon the dose, duration, and work being done." According to the CDC.
Cobalt should be handled with care, and contact with the skin should be avoided. The dust affects the throat, nose, and lungs. The people of Congo have no protective gear, and alot of the mining there is done by HAND.
Tumblr media
These people don't even have
Clean drinking water
And rely on their CHILDREN to make money
(Who only makes roughly 6675.00 Congolese Francs a day. This may seem like a large number, but for some insight, that's 2.50 USD, 3.68 Australian Dollars, 3.31 Canadian Dollars, 359.92 Japanese Yen, 42.13 Mexican Pesos, and 1.93 English Pounds. In the US, you could buy a small bag of chips or a candy bar. In Australia, you wouldn't even have enough for a small cup of coffee. Same for Canada and the US. In Japan, you could maybe get a small coffee or a vending machine food. In Mexico? Same deal. Oh look. Same deal for the UK.)
Imagine getting paid less than a penny after working tirelessly in a mine.
In Congo, almost 62% of Congolese people live off of 2.15 USD per day.
Per-DAY
Not per hour. Not per minute.
Per day.
You need over 400 USD to pay for things you need in Congo. Due to this, children are highly stunted in growth and potential.
The DRC is home to many Indigenous peoples, who are discriminated against and displaced at a high average. They play a hugely important role in the culture of Congo.
Tumblr media
Congolese women experience an even higher volume of violence and harm. Almost a third have experienced SA. Only about 16.8% of women have completed secondary school. Women earn consistently less money than men do.
Right now, there is crimes against humanity taking place in Congo. This is an undeniable fact.
How can I help?
Not everyone can donate, but if you can, here are some good places to donate to:
SAVE THE CHILDREN.ORG: https://www.savethechildren.org/us/where-we-work/democratic-republic-of-congo
UNICEF IN AFRICA: https://www.unicefusa.org/what-unicef-does/where-unicef-works/africa/horn-africa?gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQiA67CrBhC1ARIsACKAa8QRSHqTPN6NInqxweJiuzZeiKQPG3EZIJ2TOtJCO9XGGYEEh_D07I8aAsW5EALw_wcB
Other ways to help:
ā€¢ Supporting Congolese Content Creators, Artists, and Small Businesses, lifting their voices. Listen to stories.
ā€¢ SHARE- Share information, spread the word!
ā€¢ There are filters on Tiktok. Use thoes. It's the least any of us can do.
ā€¢ Boycotting- Don't buy new vape products, don't buy from Tesla, and don't buy from Apple! You don't need the latest Infinity double X loop doop 2G phone. Use what you have already. Boycotting big tech companies comes first.
This is INHUNANE
And human exploitation.
It needs to end.
Please help the people of Congo.
Praying does nothing.

Mindfulness Moment
So Iā€™ve heard that story/statistic about how ā€œone in four/five young people want to become social media influencersā€ and my first thought was to reactively roll my eyes.Ā  Which even on the face of it is kind of a weird reaction on my part, as itā€™s not like ā€œbeing famousā€ is all that new of a desire, even as a profession.Ā  (I mean certainly, especially given my flair for the dramatic, becoming a well known and loved actor or statesman or whatever would not be something I would shun at all.)
But beyond that, I caught part of an interview with Taylor Lorenz who said something that I was totally not expecting and that really shredded my preconceived (eye-rolling-inducing) notions and expanded my context.Ā  When she asked young people why they wanted to become a social media influencer, many of their responses were along the lines of ā€œso I can get help when something goes wrong.ā€Ā  As in, ā€œif my parents lose their house, I will be able to ask my followers to help,ā€ or ā€œif someone in my family needs medical care, I can ask my followers to donate to ensure they can get care.ā€ *
Whichā€¦ again, was not something I had considered.Ā  But with the growing economic precarity that has been set up as the status quo through wealth extraction and income inequality, itā€™s actually a rather astute strategy.Ā  They are simply seeking security for their adult life that is not available in the ā€œordinaryā€ and often-called ā€œproperā€ channels.Ā  In the absence of fair, reliable, and institutional social care, your social circles are all you have left and therefore online attention becomes a very valuable form of currency.
Their influencer desires arenā€™t (entirely) coming from a place of vanity ā€“ they are coming from a place of disquiet and uncertain existence.
* I should point out that she was talking to people in the USA, where healthcare is the leading cause of personal bankruptcy, even for those who are fortunate enough to have some form of health insurance.Ā  Thus the concern for a health emergency to cause financial ruin, and/or the concern that a family member will suffer without proper treatment due to an inability to afford it.

Teaching Lial how to take care of a kill was their only point of bonding. After his fathers passing, Lial was eager to get out into the world and make an impact of his own. And what better place to do his own hunting than in the medical field?

They were turned into a vampire in the 1600s, and remember none of their life previously. They turned to living as a plague doctor as an effort to keep themself both hidden and fed, but after people started realizing they had a much lower mortality rate (due to their unique methods), they gained popularity and a small cult following. But now that modern medicine has advanced without them, they've been long forgotten in the public eye. And they're determined to show everyone they deserve to be remembered.

Zhivkov is professional, curt, and distrusting. It's hard to tell if they're mean, or just bad at social interaction. Whichever it is, they seem pretty serious about their job. Probably best not to get in their way..
They previously worked for a much more above ground institute with their ex fiance. They both decided to smuggle some of their test subjects out of work to do some studying without any red tape, which worked for a while. But when they had a falling out with each other that lead to the killing of one of the subjects, their partner confessed everything to the institute. Zhivkov was sentenced to jail time, but a new, shadier institute made some deals in order to have them work there instead of rotting in prison. And this time, they're not letting anything get in the way of doing their job.

He was originally a shepherd in the 1200s, working on a small farm with his family. Until he met his now ex, Dahlia. She turned him into an angel of death shortly after they met, and they spent a long time together. Denise Crowe, 21 (USA February 3, 2006
Denise Crowe was already a mother of a 3-year-old boy and she was struggling to take care of herself and her son when she found out she was pregnant again. Scared and desperate, Denise had an abortion when she was 16 weeks pregnant.
What Denise needed was support for herself, her toddler and her baby, which a Crisis Pregnancy Center could have provided. If she did not feel that she could care for a second baby, adoption could have been arranged. Unfortunately, both Denise and her baby became victims of the predatory abortion industry.
The Gynecare Center abortion facility was designed look to the untrained eye like an outpatient clinic. A client making an appointment there would likely believe she was in a licensed clinic, not an office. (Their website, in fact, falsely advertised the facility as "a modern, clean clinic designed to provide quality healthcare for women and girls of all ages in the Maryland area," even though, as the medical board noted, the facility was only a private doctor's office and not licensed as a clinic.)
Denise and her baby died on February 3, 2006. After the abortion, Deniseā€™s fingernail beds turned blue, but the abortion facility failed to give her adequate treatment. Her vital signs were not properly monitored and it was later discovered that she had been given a lethal overdose of Demerol.
The abortionist who killed Denise and her baby was also responsible for the deaths of born-alive babies Zachary and Paul, had mishandled the case of a teenager with an STD and was on supervised probation between 1992 and 1994 for knowingly sewing a metal surgical instrument into a patient. This is not someone who can be trusted with the lives of others.

My modern Au thoughts as someone who hates modern aus:
Doing this for a USA based one because that's what I'm most familiar with.
Jgs is a corporate lawyer remaking himself into a political figure. During his first flirtation with this, the tabloids dig up that he has a child out of wedlock with a sex worker whose legal status in the country is dubious. Part of how this happened is that Meng Shi is insistent that jgs pay child support. She's here so her kid can have a better life and so he is GOING to have one come hell or high water. Jgs retaliates by having his employees/legal team harass her, namely threatening cps and immigration if she doesn't sign something agreeing that she made all this up/an NDA, hits her with restraining orders, etc. Meng Yao spends some time in and out of foster care. Meng Shi contracts something treatable but serious (diabetes, hepatitis, etc).
Meng Yao does that (evil but if you grew up around poverty you know someone who has done this thinking they can just fish drunks out of the ocean for a few years and then... Well.) Thing where you join the military for 4 years to pay for college. Jin Zixuan got Yale early admission because his daddy donated a new building for the school.
Nie Mingjue is Meng Yao's CO (I like @thatswhatsushesaid suggestion of him as an NCO but i also like him as coming from a legacy family who all go to fucking west point. Idk) and while they are serving together Something Happens that leaves Meng Yao covered in glory and Nie Mingjue honorably discharged for resulting mental and physical health issues. Nie Mingjue blames Meng Yao for getting them into the situation in the first place and hates that the kid saved his life because now his life sucks. Nie Mingjue remakes himself as an FBI agent, but the kind who works behind a desk, mostly on financial crimes.
While doing a 4 year degree in 2 years (can be done but it's like a decathlon for your brain), Meng Yao is working for Wen Ruohan's financial company and blows the whistle on the ponzi scheme.
Jin Guangshan is eyeing a big run for something, and now Meng Yao is an asset, rather than a liability. So he very publicly hires and welcomes to the family his long lost son. And if he is such a good boy, Jin Guangshan will make sure his mom gets the best treatment and gets to stay in the country, and maybe in a few years Meng Yao can go to law school. Jin Guangshan is also enron levels of dirty and has Meng Yao handling most of the criminal stuff directly. Because he's a very convenient fall guy.
The Lan are also a legacy law firm (thanks @thatswhatsushesaid) but like. They have a conscience. They do a lot of death row and supreme court bait cases. More scholarly than courtside. Pretty easy flow between their top guys and constitutional law professorships at places like Georgetown and Harvard. Lan Qiren has one of those but is forced into early retirement by the wen ponzi scheme and lxc has to live the adjunct life. Their firm almost goes under because of the resulting cash flow issues but they manage to turn it around, partially thanks to Meng Yao directing any and all conflicts their way.
Su Minshan is persona non Grata because after working at the Lan firm for several years, he took his client list and started his own firm and is actually pretty successful.
Xue Yang is jgs fixer and moonlights as a weed dealer. Songxiao are anarchist co-op food not bombs whackos (affectionate).

Hi there- Iā€™m pretty new to Tumblr so I still donā€™t 100% understand how it works. Also, my head is pretty fuzzy so the writing here might be really stiff and confusing.
I also have PANS/PANDAS. There arenā€™t many online that talk about it. I was incredibly happy to see your blog and diagnosis (which was pretty recent I think). Congratulations!
My symptoms started many years ago, when I was around 9. My behavior changed, my handwriting got really bad, etcetera. It got much worse when I entered 4th grade though. I remember freaking out over not being prepared for something, and was taken out for the first week. (I only found out about the first week bit again since I barely remembered that). Around this time, my mother was trying to find any kind of help. We eventually found one doctor, but since we lived in the USA we couldnā€™t afford the care. He actually mentioned PANDAS but we werenā€™t able to go through with any diagnosis.
I left the school I was at in the middle of 4th grade. Changed again when going into 5th. I barely remember anything from that point in my life. It just kinda sucked a lot. I couldnā€™t understand what any of the teachers were saying. Couldnā€™t do my homework. Couldnā€™t interact with others. We thought it would be better to go back to my first school, so in the middle of that year I switched again.
It was much more settled then. I had my old friends and knew the people there better. I also was in a better place family-wise (was living with my grandparents away from my dad during the other schools era). I still had trouble with things of course. I had to stay in during recess everyday because I was never able to finish my work. I still had trouble interacting with others, but I had old friends this time.
!!!/Warning for choking related thing. Donā€™t want that to trigger something
Over time Iā€™d develop very specific fears that prevented me from doing things. I had an incident involving choking, and after that eating was incredibly difficult. Iā€™m sure you could also relate to other people thinking youā€™re overreacting or faking it. My friendsā€™ parents would ask, ā€œwhy can you eat X but not Y?ā€ My fears would get better over time, but switch out for new ones. They havenā€™t fully gone away either. I still have trouble swallowing, I have to sleep with my eyes covered in fear of sleep paralysis etc.
//
I started to develop an increasingly intense urge to daydream and pace. Iā€™ve always had it, but it got to a point where it would take up most of my day. Spend hours walking in circles rethinking the same scenario in my head over and over.
8th grade came around and I went to another school again. The one I went to in 5th grade (confusing I know). This time around it was actually a lot nicer. I still didnā€™t interact with others -only one person a bit- but I was able to do my work well. There would be the one project once in a while that would make me breakdown of course. Especially if it had to do with presenting something. End of that school year though, I moved to Europe.
Moving to a new country was very difficult. I managed the first school year and finished my finals (I wasnā€™t fluent in the language I genuinely do not know how I passed) but by year 2 I couldnā€™t handle it. Second week I had to be taken out and we found a special therapist. I wasnā€™t able to reintegrate well but I could go for an hour a day sometimes.
It took a long time but my therapist was able to get me to a doctor that specializes in autism and other conditions. I went a couple times and after interviews and tests they brought up the idea of me having PANS/PANDAS. One doctor had a colleague that specialized in PANS/PANDAS, and was going to help us see him.
A couple days ago, I just finished my third IVIG treatment. Today, we just got news about all the care and benefits Iā€™ll be able to get. It took very long, but Iā€™m on my way to healing. Iā€™m already feeling better in many areas. Iā€™m nervous, but Iā€™m more hopeful for the future!
Iā€™m so sorry that was so long. And Iā€™m sorry Iā€™m posting this anonymously, Iā€™m just a bit nervous about giving away too much information.
Just know that you arenā€™t alone! I related so closely to all the stuff you talked about. I read about you eating that salad and it reminded me what I did! Just a small positive thing like that make me so happy. I wish you the best! And it CAN get better!!!
Thank you so much for sharing your story! I'm sorry you had to go through this too, but I'm so, SO glad that you're on the road to recovery now. I totally relate to a lot of what you said too. It's so important to have a community and people who you can relate to.
I'm glad my posts can make you happy!! And you're right, it CAN get better <3

NEONATAL MEDICAL EQUIPMENT -DOCTROID
RADIANT HEAT WARMER
A radiant heat warmer is a type of medical equipment used in neonatal intensive care units (NICUs) to provide warmth to premature or sick newborns. It is designed to help maintain the baby's body temperature by emitting infrared radiation without the need for direct contact. This equipment is essential in NICUs as premature or sick newborns have not yet fully developed their ability to regulate their own body temperature, making them vulnerable to hypothermia. The radiant heat warmer works by creating a warm environment around the baby, helping to stabilize their body temperature and prevent complications. The use of this type of equipment, along with other devices such as incubators, is crucial in providing optimal care for premature or sick newborns in NICUs.

LED PHOTOTHERAPY UNIT - BILICURE & BILICURE-SMART
Bilicure LED phototherapy is a non-invasive medical treatment used to treat jaundice in newborns. Jaundice is a common condition in newborns where the buildup of bilirubin in the bloodstream can cause yellowing of the skin and eyes. Bilicure LED phototherapy uses special blue LED lights to break down bilirubin in the baby's bloodstream, allowing it to be excreted from the body more easily. This type of treatment is safe and effective, and is commonly used in neonatal intensive care units (NICUs) to manage jaundice in premature or sick newborns. The use of Bilicure LED phototherapy, along with other medical interventions, can help prevent complications associated with jaundice and ensure the healthy development of newborns.

NEONATAL PULSE OXIMETER -NONIN-TECH USA
A neonatal pulse oximeter is a medical device used to measure the oxygen saturation level in the blood of newborn infants. This device uses a non-invasive technique that involves attaching a small sensor to the baby's skin, usually on the foot or hand, which emits light and measures the amount of oxygen in the blood by analyzing the color of the blood vessels. The pulse oximeter can also measure the baby's heart rate.
The use of a neonatal pulse oximeter is important in neonatal intensive care units (NICUs) as newborns are more vulnerable to oxygen deprivation, which can lead to serious health complications. By measuring the oxygen saturation level, medical professionals can quickly identify any potential issues and intervene as needed to ensure the baby receives the appropriate oxygen support.
The neonatal pulse oximeter is a safe and non-invasive device that can provide valuable information to healthcare providers, allowing them to monitor the baby's oxygen saturation level and ensure that the baby is receiving the appropriate level of oxygen therapy.

NEONATAL VEIN FINDER VEIN SEE NEO
The Vein See Neo is a neonatal vein finder device used to help medical professionals locate veins in newborn infants. It is specifically designed for use in neonatal units and is a non-invasive tool that aids in identifying suitable veins for various medical procedures such as intravenous (IV) access, blood sampling, and medication administration.
The Vein See Neo works by utilizing near-infrared light technology. When the device is held over the baby's skin, the near-infrared light is absorbed by the hemoglobin in the blood, while the surrounding tissues reflect the light. This creates a contrast between the veins and the surrounding tissue, making it easier for healthcare providers to identify and locate the veins.
The device provides real-time imaging, allowing medical professionals to visualize the veins beneath the baby's skin and determine the best site for vein puncture or catheter insertion. This reduces the need for multiple attempts and helps minimize discomfort for the baby.
The Vein See Neo is a valuable tool in neonatal care, particularly for infants with difficult-to-locate veins or those requiring frequent medical interventions. By improving the accuracy and efficiency of vein identification, the device can contribute to better patient care and outcomes in neonatal units.
