#em draws stuff #the terror #harry goodsir #franklin expedition #a ponderment on fucked up polar bears heavily inspired by the 'nanoq: flat out and bluesome' art exhibition by snæbjörnsdóttir/wilson #short explanation of which is that it was a photographic survey of all 34 taxidermied polar bears in the uk #including the one the only blair atholl polar bear. yes it really looks like that.#(they fixed it up some in 2016 but it's still narsty. highly recommend googling this particular beast.)#this is what happens when you put a polar bear on display in 1786 (at the least) and you Keep It There for twohundredsome years #ANYWAY. hey mr goodsir why'd you go to nunavut to see a very bad polar bear when you had a very bad polar bear at home #<- JOKE. i am allowed to do big ponderment art and also have myself a little jonk in the same post. farewell now.

What line "against Japan's marriage laws" do you mean? I'm genuinely curious because I don't really remember anything like that (but it's been a while since I read that event)

this section from chapter 3 of An's wedding event. they're doing a wedding photoshoot but accidentally hire two models for the bride and no model for the groom, but they decide to go ahead anyway in spite of the gender. it doesn't seem like much on the surface but with the context of gay marriage not being legal in japan there's a little bit extra to that "gender has nothing to do with it" comment.

#marriage rates are going down please #make them go back up #asks #the theme of the photo exhibit is happiness so the photographer chose to do a wedding for her shoot #and she ends up showing a type of wedding that is not legal within the country #there's a definite message there #(also it's really funny to compare with minori wedding which has the underlying message of 'please get married our marriage rates are going #down' told through a play where a woman gets christmas carol'ed by an angel idol so she will spend money on a wedding to her bf)

I SEE YOU – 14 ARTISTS IN A DIALOGUE IN COLLABORATION WITH HARPER’S BAZAAR NL @bildhalle Amsterdam Friday, 13 September, 18 - 21h

Special thanks to @mirjamcavegn & @miluskavantlam who have curated this exhibition.

"I SEE YOU" is a reﬂection on a dialogue that references appreciation and true connection. It’s a direct acknowledgment of the “other”.

We’re honoured to be in this exibition "in dialogue" with one artist that we highly admire: Richard Caldicott @richardcaldicott He’s one of the main representatives of constructed photography. A key set of his work is a series of still lifes created using ordinary plastic containers.

By playing with the interaction of light and colour, Caldicott no only makes the viewer forget about the quotidian use of these objects, but also emphasizes the qualities of the photographic medium itself, producing objects independent of any antecedent reality.

His innovative approach to photography opened our eyes to the medium's potential for creative expression. This style of work suggests that photography, through its interplay with light, time and chance, can create images that challenge conventional perceptions and interpretations. . In our "Polarized" series, which is part of our "Opticks" project, we continue using photography to explore the 'structure of reality' and 'the why of things,' echoing Berenice Abbott's vision of photography as “the friendly interpreter of science.” Unlike previous series, this one investigates natural components that are normally invisible, except through experiments that make them visible.

Transparent objects, especially plastics, subtly alter how light passes through them, changes that are invisible to the naked eye. However, when exposed to polarized light and observed through a second polarizer, hidden internal differences reveal vibrant colors and shades of gray. . As Duane Michals states: "Photography deals with appearances, but nothing is ever as it seems."
