"Do you think we're doing the right thing?"
Clay and Kimiko looked at Omi in confusion. He sat with a worried expression, looking over his shoulder, as if he expected someone to attack them in the air.
"With looking for a new Wu?" Clay asked carefully.
"I think Omi is worried about Raimundo." Kimiko closed the scroll and put it in her backpack. The boy nodded. "I'm not sure about the idea of leaving him with Jack, but his cousin is right. Raimundo had been through too much trauma, and if he woke up in the temple without them, he might have a panic attack again. Remember when he woke up the first time and refused to believe that we were all alive?"
"He was scared and nervous, like a cat with a long tail in a room full of rocking chairs." Clay adjusted his hat. "Spicer has proven to us more than once that he is as trustworthy if it is about Raimundo."
"You are right." Omi smiled broadly and supported his hips with his hands. "Jack Spicer has proven himself to be a worthy companion to our friend, and, if it weren't for his desire to do evil, he would also be a good Xiaolin Dragon!"
"Let's not jump that far into the future..." Kimiko grimaced in disgust.
Kimiko couldn't imagine Spicer as the Xiaolin Dragon at all. Of course, Omi once tried to convince him to abandon Heylin and join Xiaolin, but he was laughed at, although Jack suggested going out for ice cream every Sunday.

My ass, after getting grievously injured saving one of the heroes:
“I hate being a good person, being a good person fucking sucks! Empathy and choosing kindness is the worst! I hate this! I fucking hate this!”
My favorite form of redemption arc is “I hate that I have morals now”

30 years ago, during Ford and Bill's fallout; instead of threatening to steal Ford's eyeballs, Bill just goes ahead and steals Fiddleford's! Which then further leads to Fiddleford parting ways with Ford as his research assistant.
In my perfect world, where my AU is a 40-episode fully animated show; this episode would reveal the seemingly unsuspecting Old Man Mcgucket as the leader of a powerful secret cult of memory erasure. Mcgucket, believing Ford to still be under the influence of "the demon that stares," kidnaps him and attempts to "exorcise"/erase the so-called demon out of Ford's brain.
However, with the metal plate bolted into Ford's skull not only keeping out demons such as Bill, but also keeping them in; Bill is forced to instead take over Ford's body with nowhere else to go. Together with the twins who've come to rescue their Grunkle Ford, they frantically run from a hoard of cultists and their terrifying leader.
The twins discover that their Grunkle Ford's past goes much deeper than they had originally anticipated, and that their Uncle Bill isn't who they think he is....

It was easy to lure the newest Titan away from the rest, back the boy into a corner. He was the weakest link, the newest hero, the easiest to manipulate-
Then, the ghost child transformed, glowing rings passing over his body to reveal a familiar black-haired boy. "Uncle Slade, what the fuck are you doing?"

forever thinking about royal’s bad ending. my thing with it is that maruki doesn’t necessarily give anyone what they want most, he gives them what’s most appropriate for them to want within a maruki-approved framework. iirc there’s a really interesting text sequence in the game where he just straight up changes someone’s career because they’re not “good” at it, regardless of whether that’s what they actually want. why struggle at all? ever? right?
and so ultimately i don’t think goro akechi’s greatest wish is necessarily ren. i think it’s a wish for sure, but his greatest wish is his own agency. despite any regrets he has and the fact that shido and yaldabaoth treated him like a pawn, he's generally pretty adamant about owning his choices and their consequences. he doesn't want that erased. and instead, you end up with pleasant boy™ if you take maruki’s deal. maybe maruki (incorrectly) thinks sanding off all of akechi’s rough edges will make him easier for ren to love. but the crux of it is really that maruki has to essentially lobotomize him to preserve the illusion of his perfect reality, because their ideologies are so diametrically opposed that akechi would spend every waking moment fighting back.
this isn’t to undermine ren’s importance to akechi btw — he explicitly acknowledges that he wishes they had met earlier, and there are countless moments throughout their confidant that underscore how much it means to him that they mirror each other so well. he absolutely does want more time with ren, just not under these circumstances.
and that’s also what makes ren’s choice on 2/2 doubly devastating. he knows that either way he loses akechi. and if he takes maruki’s deal, he loses him knowing that his last moments with the real akechi involved the two of them being unforgivably out of sync.

Chapter two of a draft of a story “Memories of an Ex-Villain
                                                   Chapter 2
                                                        Lost
Life made itself known by the dull pain in his head. It throbbed stronger and weaker in turns but never went away.
At some point, Gavin thought he heard Atticus Vinch the III weeping and calling his name. Why was he weeping? What was wrong?
The darkness shifted at one point when he felt a warmth in his head that spread to his shoulders. He heard indistinct voices, but as the warmth faded so did they.
He felt the warmth in intervals blanketing the pain while it lasted but always the throbbing returned. At last after one final one the pain faded completely and he fell into blessed nothingness.
Eventually he began dreaming. Meaningless dreams of faceless people and places he didn’t recognize, anger came, then despair. Atticus would call his name and he would run through the fog of people and indistinct places, calling back, trying to find him. He had to find him!
Eventually the dreams dispersed and he knew Atticus was calling him for real.
“Please wake up! Master please… wake up!”
Gavin stirred groggily.
“Master?”
“..Mmm. A… A…?” he weakly tried to reply, but he was so tired, exhausted, and could barely think.
“He’s awake! Healer! Healer..!”
The kitten’s voice faded.
“W..wait… Atticus…?” Gavin mumbled, confused. Healer? He tried to piece together what must have happened, but his mind was fuzzy and it was as if his head were stuffed with cotton. He could barely open his eyes.
An unfamiliar person, an old man, leaned over him, asking questions he didn’t understand, feeling his forehead, forcing an eye open to examine. Gavin tried to mumble replies but his tongue got all tied up.
The man looked away over his shoulder and addressed someone, “He’s coming around but slowly. Princess, you need to leave. He’ll only be distressed to see you and it will be bad for his recovery.”
“My recovery… Princess?” His head was a little less fuzzy, but nothing these people said made any sense. Was he hurt? Who were they?
“Master!” Atticus shoved his face into the sorcerer’s view, “You’re going to be okay! Take it easy, okay. You hit your head bad!”
“What happened? I can’t… can’t remember…”
The old man turned back to him, “It’ll come in time, don’t force it. Here, you have to drink this, it will help.”
Gavin felt his head and shoulders rise. Something cold and sour was poured into his mouth. He managed not to cough, swallowing it down. He didn’t feel any better. Laid back down, he tried to make out where he was. This… he didn’t know why but he knew it wasn’t his bed, his room. It was too small, there should be a canopy over him. Instead there was a wood ceiling. And the windows were wrong, there were curtains gently waving in a breeze, he couldn’t see much past but he thought it must be sunny out.
The old man said not to force the memories, so he closed his eyes and focused on breathing. His breaths were shallow, but grew stronger over time. Opening his eyes again the world came more into focus. Atticus was beside him, holding his master’s hand in his paws.
“Atticus… what happened?” Gavin asked, “I can’t remember anything…” Nothing at all, when he tried his mind was fogged.
“You fell down the stairs! Oh Master I’m so sorry!’ Atticus whimpered, “I was trying to save you from her but I tripped!”
“Stairs?” Gavin queried. “Who were you saving me from?”
“The lady! The Princess!”
Gavin gazed at his familiar blankly, “What princess?”
Atticus stared back with disbelief, “She came through the balcony and chased us down the hall!”
When Gavin gave no indication of understanding, Atticus asked, “She had winged boots? Her army broke through the outer wall and were fighting your troops in the courtyard? She killed Avante?”
“Avan..tay…” Gavin replied, “Avante… Avante is someone big… and red right?”
“Might be short term memory loss. Do you remember your name?” The healer asked.
Gavin blinked, “Of course I do. I’m Gavin. Gavin Vanderville. And you’re Atticus Vinch the 3rd.” he added, just to make sure he remembered, “My familiar.” He tilted his head to look at the healer, “I don’t know you.”
“You wouldn’t. This is our first meeting with you fully conscious,” he said kindly, “I’m Nathwin.” “Oh…” “Nothing else?” Nathwin asked, “Where you’re from?”
He thought on that, “A… I… a high place. I think.”
“The tower,” Atticus prompted.
A tower? Gavin gave it some thought, “Sounds right… Blue I think…”
“Blue?” Atticus raised an eyebrow in surprise.
“Maybe not…” He could picture cool colored stone walls out a window as the sun set in the west casting a shadow on that side but… maybe he was wrong…? Blue stone and red cliffs  just sounded right, but maybe not.
“Alright but… where are we, then?” He realized, remembering some of those first thoughts, that this was unfamiliar, that he remembered a different room.”
Atticus took a long breath, frustration on his face and Gavin immediately felt horrible for not knowing anything. Something serious clearly happened.
“We were captured, Master,” Atticus replied, “Do you remember you’re a sorcerer? The three Kingdoms? Evellia, Upora, Trevantus? You were the scourge of the three kingdoms!”
“Scourge?” That didn’t sound good, “Sorcerer? Wait…” he paused, “Sorcerer… yes… I’m a sorcerer. But… they…” he shifted his left hand, held in Atticus Vinch’s paws, he saw his pinky finger, examining the steel piece “The ring… it… it took them away… and there was… we thought someone had done it, but they hadn’t… and I can’t do magic… I remember… I was upset last… Were we arguing?”
Atticus relaxed, a relief in his eyes, “It’s coming back a little. I guess you could say we were fighting.” He described the scene leading up to the stumble and fall, “And now we’re here in Castle Flamelle of the Kingdom of Haiweth. I never even heard of them.”
“Doesn’t… I don’t remember… I don’t remember any princess, or Lalia… was she the princess?”
“No Master.” Atticus replied exasperatedly.
“Do you seriously not remember or are you just being stubborn?” came a woman’s voice.
A tall lady dressed in men’s apparel entered the already small room, frowning deeply at him. The healer turned to raise a hand, “M’lady please don’t disturb the patient.” he requested.
“I’m sorry?” Gavin blinked.
“Leave him alone!” Atticus Vinch the III hissed.
Gavin gazed hazily up. The lady glared back. The green eyes, the red hair. Now in two braids pulled forward over her shoulders, a circlet on her head. She was tall.
“You… you fly… eyes… eye are… green…” he felt stupid as he stumbled, not sure if he was remembering her eyes or just struck by them, they seemed to burn as she glowered down.
“I’m sorry.” he ended lamely, looking away, “Am… am I in some kind of trouble?
“Understatement of the year,” she replied sarcastically, “You don’t remember pillaging and ransacking villages? Towns?” “I-” Gavin began but was cut off. “Murdering people? Making war on one or the other of the kingdoms? Keeping them from aiding each other or rebuilding?” the woman’s voice increased in hostility as she stalked closer until she was leaning over him, a hand slamming on the side table next to his head. Atticus was crouched down low, fur raised as he growled deep in his throat.
“I… I…” more and more upset at these lies, accusations… truths? He didn’t know what they were, but Gavin shook his head.
“I don’t! I’m sorry! Please stop!” he covered his eyes, beginning to cry, afraid of this woman looming over him and so confused as nothing came back to him.
“Princess please,” the healer demanded, “Your distressing him isn’t helping!”
“As he should be! The wretch-!”
“Get. Out.” The Healer hadn’t raised his voice particularly but it held such command that it halted the princess. She turned her head towards him and the two glared at each other.
“This is a house of healing. You have no right to raise your voice or frighten my patients. You can leave with dignity or be dragged out.”
“I’ll help!” Atticus snapped.
Despite how upset he was, Gavin was impressed the old man could stand up to such a frightening person. And at Atticus Vinch’s bravery. This Princess lady looked like she could snap anyone in half with her bare hands.
But she sneered and left, stalking out, head high.
Gavin gasped and swallowed, “Th-thank you.” he whispered.
“Of course,” Nathwin replied gently, “It’s alright. Here your past doesn’t mean anything. Until you’re healed you're just a sick man who needs help.”
Trembling, Gavin shrank down into the blankets, “Thank you.” he said again.
“It’s okay Master,” Atticus rubbed against Gavin’s shoulder, “It’s okay.”
Trying to take his mind off of the encounter, another question came to him.
“Atticus… if… we’re in another kingdom… it took a while to get there-here.”
“Yes?” Atticus queried, confused.
Gavin swallowed again, sniffling, “How long was I unconscious?”
“Errrrr…” Atticus looked to the healer.
Nathwin put a hand on Gavin’s shoulder, “Two months. You’ve been here in the healing house for almost three weeks.”
“G-goodness.” he tried to be bemused,  to shake off the upsetting experience just now, “That’s a… a long time.”
“And I know you just woke up, but I think you should sleep again for a few hours after this upsetting and confusing experience.” Nathwin suggested.
The patient did not care for that.
“I… I think I’d prefer to be awake… just… let’s not talk about anything more.”
Atticus rubbed against him again and slipped into his arms, “It’s okay, Master.”
He wasn’t sure what he thought about being called “Master.” It didn’t feel right. But Gavin didn’t want to talk anymore. He gratefully held his familiar, stroking the soft black fur, finding some comfort. For now at least, he could have quiet while he mulled things over and tried to remember.
“Scourge of the three kingdoms” ran through his head over and over. Atticus said it like it was a good thing. But then the princess told him all those other things  “Scourge” entailed.
Her raised,  accusatory voice rang through his head, and despite himself, Gavin cried quietly, afraid and lost.

Yandere Batman Stories:
Seed of Doubt
Yandere Two Face/ Harvey Dent x Fem Singer Reader
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sweaty palms grasped the cold metal of the microphone. (Your name) swore she could feel her heart slam its fists into her ribcage in an attempt to flee from its prison. There was not a doubt in her mind that she was filled to the brim with anxiety. It’s not often a singer of her stature is to perform in front of so many criminals.
(Your name) thanked the stars that the bright lights blinded her so she wouldn’t have to see the lecherous gazes they sent her way. She felt like a lamb to the slaughter. A helpless creature that now lay in the maws of a starving pack of wolves, ready to be torn apart at any moment…
And although she wished for nothing more than to melt in a puddle right there and then, she must perform… because he was watching.
Deep breath in… and exhale. She could do this… she had to.
(Your name) gave a flirtatious smile to the crowd before she began to sing. Her voice was hauntingly sweet like the lure of a siren. The melody easily enraptured the crooks who all sat on the edges of their seats to listen to her.
And from the balcony above, a certain mafia boss smiled. He was so happy his songbird had begun to sing once more. It’s been so many years since he had heard that bewitching voice… but now he had the power to protect her.
Two Face had the resources to keep her by his side for all of eternity now. And he hoped she would love her gilded cage. It’s where a pretty bird like her belonged anyways.
He ran the pad of his thumb over the scratched up side of his signature coin. He was so happy fate had easily agreed to allow his beloved to return to his side once more…
.
.
.
(Your name)’s hands gripped the edge of her vanity to the point her knuckles turned white. She swore she felt her heart beat in her ears from the adrenaline that coursed through her. The cheers and whistles made her even more eager to flee and she was thankful another performer quickly ushered her away.
(Your name) glanced at her direction, her wild eyes studied the disheveled young woman before her. (Your name)’s face was still flushed a shade of cherry red and her hair was in disarray. She was the definition of a hot mess and it didn’t help that she knew her old beau had been the one to book her at this sordid venue. Her beloved Harvey Dent… no. He went by Two Face now. Her gentle lover was no more… and it would be best for her to accept that.
(Your name) traced her fingers over her lips in thought. How many years had it been since she’s last seen him? Three? Maybe even four? She couldn’t remember since the days have all melted together from how busy she’s been ever since her career had taken off…
“You still look as beautiful as the day I last saw you, my sonnet.” (Your name) jumped at the raspy voice that echoed in her dressing room. Her eyes filled with fear as she turned to see the very man that haunted her nightmares.
“H-Harvey-“ (your name) gasped when the man pinned her against the dresser. She quickly tried to turn away from him, but he wasn’t having any of it.
(Your name) felt fear consume her when he grabbed her chin and tilted her head up to look at him. Those grotesque scars now in close view as the singular, bloodshot eye scanned her face.
“Ah, it seems this appearance of mine frightens even you, my dear.” He clicked his tongue before he pressed his nose against hers. Their breaths mingled while his eyes became half lidded. “Of course you can’t love a freak like me-“
Harvey was shocked when (your name) closed the distance between their lips with a gentle kiss. She… she wasn’t afraid? Could it be that she still loved him?
(Your name) rested her forehead on his right shoulder to try to hide how terrified she was. She was hopeful that he wouldn’t harm her… that she could reason with him to just pay her her dues-
(Your name) gasped when she was suddenly pulled into a tight hug that could rival the coils of an anaconda.
“I knew you still loved me… that you love us.” (Your name) felt her blood run cold at the sudden voice change. Us? Had Harvey actually gone insane like the papers had stated? “Now you can stay with us, just like you promised all those years ago.”
“Harvey? Please let me g-“ (your name) was suddenly jerked to now be in front of him once more. His face now twisted in a scowl.
“Harvey? I’m not Harvey, dollface. And like hell I’ll let you leave again. Tell you what, how about we flip a coin for it?” Harvey reached into his breast pocket and held up a coin. “Heads, I’ll pay you and let you carry on with your idyllic life. But if it’s tails, you become my fiancée once more and marry me.”
(Your name) bit her lip. It’s not like she had much of a choice…
“Okay.” (Your name) gulped at the wicked gleam in his eyes. Her fate had been sealed the moment that coin flipped in the air… how was she to know that the scratched side had been on a spree today? That her chances of escape had been slim to none? A hopeful fool she was…
(Your name) felt her heart drop when Harvey showed her the scratched up side of the coin. His eyes lit up in delight as his lips peppered her face with featherlight kisses.
“Ah… there wasn’t a seed of doubt that fate would have us reunite. I’m sure you’ll love your new home, it’s taken me years to build the perfect gilded cage for you, my songbird.”

Badger the Thief
Danny x Cass
Bruce x Selina
It all started as Vlad, out of spite, named Danny as he stole something from him:" The Badger Thief!"
As his parents found out, he was a "thief." The first thing was that they were proud that he was a villain, just like they were before they retired.
And he got a suit to go and have fun... Well, they are the Fenton family.
And if his parents don't get angry! Well, he wanted that moonstone he saw in the museum.
It had been a matter of time before he met the heroes of the world.
And he got his own animal-themed hero in Black Bat, who tries to capture him all the time.
Bruce had a talk with his daughter about dating. And that led once again to him and Catwoman.
Cass:" At least mine steals only space-related stuff!"
Bruce:" He stole the GLOBE ON THE DAILY PLANET!"
Cass:" Not his fault. That they use a "Globe"!! "

Here's another short dpxdc prompt
"Daddy!" Dick instictively caught the kid before she kissed the floor despite knowing she can fly and-- wait a damned minute. That is not Mar'i.
Meanwhile...
"Papa!" Danny smiled as he braced himself for the flying missile of a child that raced to him. He swirled them around when he caught her making her giggle as her legs swing. Hold the fuck up-- This is not Ellie.

He pushed open the massive door, and his dead friends watched his every move. The air was thick, warm, and unpleasant. Wuya sat on a large stone throne surrounded by green flames. As soon as she saw the boy, she smiled broadly.
"Mistress." He bowed slightly.
"Raimundo, finally!" She called. "I was slowly starting to wither from boredom without you!"
"The mission was complicated by several rebels." He said. "According to your orders, I eliminated them."
"And the Wu?"
Raimundo pulled out from his gray sweatshirt a statuette of a golden cow with a Ying-Yang sign in the middle. The cow looked as if it were deep in meditation. Wuya immediately appeared a step away from him and took Shen Gong Wu away with fascination. The green flames completely disappeared.
"Ohhh, she's more beautiful than I thought!" She sighed with fascination and hugged Raimundo tenderly. "I knew I could count on you, Raimundo. You're the best!"

Ex-Villain angst
Exactly what it says on the tin.
Ex-Villain from a crime family that has to watch and participate as their family is taken away by the heroes
Ex-Villain who spent their villain years chasing the approval of their mentor/villainous idol/villainous loved one, only to find themselves 'redeemed', now chasing the approval of the heroes
Ex-Villain changing their behavior, but never getting better. In fact, they're not sure they've ever felt worse
Ex-Villain only ever being seen as that, an Ex-Villain
Guilt tripping, so much guilt tripping. They don't even argue anymore, they just give in.
Nobody wants a villain, Ex-Villain is rejected almost everywhere, which can make it easier for hero organizations to keep them under control because they have nowhere else to go.
Ex-Villain losing sleep over their past, unable to think of anything other than what they've done wrong
Ex-Villains dyeing or cutting their hair and changing their appearance until they're unrecognizable, because maybe then they can at least pretend they're a different person now
Ex-Villain who still suffers with violent impulses, unable to ever get help for them because admitting they have them would make everyone distrust them
Ex-Villain who learns the hard way that that 'power of friendship' thing only applies to people the heroes like
Ex-Villain who's trying, they really are, but find it increasingly difficult to believe it'll ever actually make a difference

Worst fandom mischaracterisation/headcanon of each bat-associated character, in my opinion (these are in no particular order) :
1. Duke Thomas is the sane, rational, "normal" one.
Have you ever read the We Are Robin arc? Duke is fucking unhinged, his introduction was him jumping off a bridge to escape cops. This is a kid whose father is immortal and is the first metahuman in the batfam. He lost his parents in the most horrendous way possible (joker venom. They're still alive, but it's horrifying) and organised a whole gang as a child. He threw down with a green lantern and 2 shot his ass. Hopefully, this headcanon is just a product of people not really knowing the character and goes away soon once people find out more about him, when he isn't just the token black guy in a fic or a background character in batfam drama.
2. Stephanie Brown is quirky and sassy, and ONLY quirky and sassy. She's over her trauma with Black Mask and Cluemaster!!
Stephanie Brown is a very interesting character, with an origin story that is very similar to jason todd. She's been through hell, yet she constantly gets infantalised by the fandom, which gets kind of ignored in favour of talking shit about how people infantilse tim (super valid and I'll come back to it later on in this post). You most commonly see this in timsteph stories where they show her as the immature first love, and how as tim grows up, he needs to date more "serious" people, as if tim wasn't the main reason their relationship never worked. This is also common in stephcass fics, although on a smaller level. Writers tend to make stephanie the bubbly outgoing girl that balances out all of cass' angst (some of those fics are really good, but they mould steph in a specific shape so she can be a prop for cass to heal). On an even smaller scale, I've seen both romantic and platonic jaysteph stories where stephanie appears as the "good" victim who let go of her animosity to black mask and cluemaster, and so now, she can help jason let go of what happened with the joker, and bruce's abuse. Obviously, this is a disservice to both of these characters, but people tend to focus on how it's more of a disservice to jason instead of steph. Let my girl express her trauma and heal, and stop using her as a prop for other characters! She wasn't just cutesy as robin, she threw the fuck down. Her introduction included hitting tim in the head with a brick!
3. Slut/himbo Dick Grayson is reductive of his abilities as a leader, and is not only offensive to real survivors of SA, but incredibly racist towards Romani people.
Do I really need to explain this one? Dick Grayson is a symbol of hope that bruce wishes batman could be. This man is a natural born leader and has stepped up to the plate multiple times, both during his time with the titans and as batman. He's charismatic and lovable and a genuinely intelligent man, but for some reason, he gets depicted as a dumbass who has to deffer to bruce or tim or babs any time he has an issue with detective work. Yes, you can delegate. Of course, you can delegate, but going straight to tim and rattling off the case you JUST accepted doesn't make sense, ESPECIALLY if you're on seperate cases and tim or bruce have to postpone their work just to solve it for you. As for the other part, Dick has been heavily implied to be demisexual, given that he only has sex with people he has genuine feelings for. He wouldn't just sleep with any random woman who compliments his ass enough. Also, having an SA victim be characterised as a slut is both reductive of their trauma and a weird way that some authors justify how he's "over it." Really doesn't help that he was slut shamed (canonically!! why is this canon??) by the rest of the titans after sleeping with mirage, who pretended to be kori. Additionally, it's really weird if the first thing you think of when you see an attractive romani man just sleeps around. People don't say that about other conventionally attractive characters, even ones who HAVE slept around. The only character i can think of that gets characterised like this is bruce, but that's an image that he cultivated to keep batman hidden.
4. Jason Todd was always doomed by the narrative. He would have died if bruce hadn't intervened. Also, pit rage.
The tragedy of jason todd was, and always has been, that he was doomed by the AUDIENCE. He wasn't just an angry, reckless child, and calling him the angry robin is stupid and reductive. Was he angry? of course he was, but so was dick, and so was damian. Using a single word to describe a person is never going to be enough. Jason was notoriously compassionate to victims, especially women and children, and sex abuse victims. He got pissed when the system he was asked to believe in was shown to be ineffective, to the point where bruce believed he killed a man over it. The kid had a bright future ahead and loved school, modt of robin!jason's shitty qualities came from bruce and alfred compartmentaling his image and shitting on him to ease their guilt over his death. Pit rage is also a cheap way to take away his autonomy, an easy pass to explain the shitty things he's done. I like it when the pit has side effects like glowing eyes or increased healing or something, but pit rage is stupid. It's either used to force characters to forgive jason since he wasn't himself or as an angst prompt for jason, another testament to how he came back wrong, or a way to have him hurt a character to further up THEIR angst (*cough* titans tower AU fics*cough*). Yes, he did shitty things. Let him do shitty things without giving him an easy out. Otherwise, your story isn't compelling at all.
5. Feral Damian Wayne is just straight-up racist, no?
I love damian. I think that, for the most part, he's been written pretty well. However, damian suffers from the fact that he's an arab character in a post 9/11 comic, and thus there is bound to be some casual racism, both in comics (like when tim assumed he was too uncivilised to know what a handshake is) and fandom. Has damian wayne done a lot of shitty things, especially to tim? Yes, absolutely. But that doesn't make him feral. He was raised by assassins as the heir to the throne and to the greatest hero in the world, raised to think that blood relations are the only ones that matter, so of course he's dismissive of tim. He's also a prince who was raised in luxury, who was born as royalty and has experienced more opulence during his birth thsn most peoole do in a lifetime, although this opulence is extremely conditional, with horrifying requirements (the story with damian having a metal spine as a child is insane). Does it make what he did to tim right? Definitely not. Does it excuse his actions? Also no. But it does explain them, it tells us where it came from. Being traumatised and having extremely high expectations of both sides of your family doesn't make you feral.
6. Tim Drake is just a small little baby who can't function without his coffee.
Let me preface this by saying that i don't like tim drake. At all. As a huge fan of the al ghuls it was a real kick in the balls having Ra's be reduced to a creepy pedophile who wanted tim as an heir, and sent a woman to rape tim in order to carry his child. Also, I hate how DC decided to prop him up by shitting on jason todd. However, this doesn't mean that I don't enjoy his YJ run and that I don't enjoy some of his comics/fics. That being said, nothing on this earth pisses me off more than tim stans. You know the ones, the people who want damian hanged, who want dick and jason and bruce to fall to their knees and beg for forgiveness. Tim has been through an insane amount of trauma, and that's understandable, but please, for the love of god, don't create more whump for tim at the cost of other characters. You can hate damian, I wouldn't blame you, but remember that he's like 10 and tim put him on a hit list. Dick never wanted to put tim in arkham, and he didn't have time to support tim when it came to an honestly insane (although ultimately correct) conclusion. Also damian as robin was alfred's idea, and damian was the one that put on the costume preemptively, dick got pissed at damian for that. When it comes to jason, I'd say it's complicated. While titans tower was fucked up, it wasn't as bad as people made it out to be. My first introduction to the fandom was through jason todd since he was my favourite robin, and then i learned they brought him back to life when i played injustice. The number of fics and posts that mention that jason went to the tower specifically to kill tim is insane. When i got into comics, it was like whiplash; it wasn't a one-sided beatdown, tim was conscious until the end, the goofy ass robin suit jason had on, jason never slitting tim's throat (that happens in hush, and even then i don't think he really slit his throat, since the art shows that the skin was kinda nicked), all of that was wild to me. BftC is one of the shittiest comjc book runs when it comes to characterisation in general, and I've already discussed dick and tim, so it's only fair to talk about jason and tim. There's no justification here, honestly, other than shitty writing i guess. The other side of the coin is enemies to caretaker jason and tim, which is so fucking wild?? they're like 2 years apart, and tim is extremely competent, he wouldn't pass out mid patrol because he forgot his coffee.
7. Bruce Wayne doesn't believe people can change and doesn't care about Crime Alley.
For the first one, please fucking read a single comic book. Just one. Better yet, maybe research why batman doesn't kill. You know, the most popular thing about him? As for the second, it's mostly just a way to show how jason is better than bruce and how he's right to take over the alley since no one cares about it. Now I LOVE jason todd. He's my favourite comic book character of all time tied with gambit and Dr. Strange. But I hate it when you create angst or comeuppance by blatantly ignoring the chatacter and their motives. Bruce became batman so that what happened to his parents can never happen again, and this includes helping the poor people in crime alley either through patrolling there or by setting up countless charities to improve life there. You can make the case that batman avoided crime alley after jason died. It's not canon, but it would make sense. However, I dont see him ever giving up on the alley, both to prevent what happened to his parents, and to help people like his dead son. I fucking hate bruce, he's done a lot of shitty things, but making shit up just to make him worse is getting old.
8. Misc
There aren't really enough mischaracterisations about cass and babs to warrant separate paragraphs, so I'll just reiterate the infantalisation of cass and babs having no qualities outside of oracle, master hacker, and dick grayson's on and off lover.
