hey in ur peri animatic: (https://youtu.be/OCqlRuDaXYU?si=K52WDu_vw9rg7chz) that I have been permanently obsessed over since today and have watched about 20 times by now so much that I have drawn & posted stuff based on it what was that partial bug form peri had?
Tumblr media
I haven’t watched either of the show btw so if it’s explained in the show please tell me plsssss
OK, SO the bug thing is not technically canon to the series. It's based on my own headcanons for fairy biology, but i do have justifications for it!! Fairies have very strong shape-shifting abilities, so it would make sense that the form they show to humans isn't necessarily their true form(not to mention extreme that mimicry is very common in insects). And you want to know the visible traits almost every fairy has in common? Being very small with Insect-like wings.
The fact that their humanoid form isn't their true form in actually confirmed in the show! Cosmo and Wanda are revealed to look like biblically accurate pseudo-angels in the museum episode. (I say pseudo angels because the Flaming Sword of Eden is only debatably sentient and I don't think is considered an angel. Ophanim are also debatably not angels because they don't have wings (sorry for the angel tangent I like angels))
Tumblr media
So wouldn't their true forms be angelic then? Well, yes. But I like bugs so. Also I have more headcanons to justify myself. I like to think that they have both a true-true form (incomprehensible to the human brain, probably exists mostly in a dimension invisible to us, that looks how we imagine biblically accurate angels), and a fairy form (which is visible to humans but is naturally very insect like and tends to scare people). So, in order to interact with humans, they have to learn to shapeshift into a humanoid form but will occasionally slip if they get too relaxed/aren't careful, hence the mandibles coming out when he yawns!
The reason they struggle so much more with human forms than the animals or objects they typically turn into is that, well, they aren't trying to convince those animals or objects. The more human they try to look, the harder it is to keep up convincingly. If you turn into a really uncanny squirrel, only other squirrels will notice. If you turn into a really uncanny human, they form a lynch mob and burn you at the stake.

I want Buck to be his most unhinged self and reject every house Eddie considers for the most deranged reasons possible...until Eddie sees a house and gets that warm, happy look on his face imagining him and Chris living there and Buck just...can't say anything negative about it (even as he feels Eddie slipping through his fingers more than ever).

𝔄𝔯𝔠𝔥𝔦𝔳𝔢𝔯 𝔬𝔣 𝔱𝔥𝔢 𝔰𝔞𝔠𝔯𝔢𝔡 𝔰𝔠𝔯𝔦𝔭𝔱𝔲𝔯𝔢𝔰, 𝔞𝔫𝔰𝔴𝔢𝔯𝔢𝔯 𝔬𝔣 𝔪𝔶𝔯𝔦𝔞𝔡 𝔮𝔲𝔢𝔰𝔱𝔦𝔬𝔫𝔰; ℑ 𝔟𝔢𝔤 𝔱𝔥𝔢𝔢 𝔣𝔬𝔯 𝔱𝔥𝔶 𝔴𝔦𝔰𝔡𝔬𝔪!
I come bearing not just one, but TWO whole questions! I've been pondering this for a long while, but I decided I might as well run it by you, just to be absolutely sure.
Y'see, I've been writing criminal backgrounds for some canary OCs, and while a grand majority are not that wild, one of them is definitely out there, to say the least. As I'm trying to keep things as accurate to canon as possible, I wanted to stop by and make sure what I've written makes sense, and whether or not it'd be feasible within the world of Dungeon Meshi. I might be confident in my knowlegde on the story, given I have read all available official Dungeon Meshi content as far as I'm aware, but it wouldn't be the first time I get logical tunnel vision and overlook an important detail.
Alright, so, ghosts! We all love the restless buggers, don't we? Hah, their haunting is the whole reason it's common practice in most of the world (if I'm remembering this correctly; could be spouting total nonsense for all I know) to ensure there isn't anything binding the soul to the body that'd cause a bad case of the haunties! However, the residents of the Northern Continent — at least the ones we get to see in the story — display a particular adversity to magic to the point where they viciously bullied a young girl for the horrible crime of laying a poor soul to rest, and they seemed pretty cool (ironic pun not intended; but in restrospect, absolutely intended) with orphanizing another. Safe to say, there is room for shenanigans here!
I've been wondering for a while now whether it is possible for ghosts in the overworld to repossess their own bodies shortly after they bite the dust. I know they have a preference for living fleshbags, but if they only recently perished — and given they're not chained to their body until it is too broken to hold on to their soul ala man-made dungeon — the body oughta be at least warm enough for a ghost to pick it, aye? It's... well, it's not alive, but it seems like a viable option to me. No use being picky.
"Okay Agion — you highly intelligent, handsome and exceedingly humble rogue; what're you getting at?"
Well, I'm glad you asked!
1. What information do we have on binding a soul to a body?
2. When done in a town that does not practice proppa anti-haunting procedures and enough people die in quick succession (with a little help if necessary), could you start a zombie outbreak by kind of nudging the ghosts a little to just reanimate their own bodies instead of looking for a hapless victim to possess?
Sure, the ghosts alone are spooky enough, and there's plenty of things I could do with ancient magic, but the idea of a small zombie plague stuck with me, and I wanted to make sure it is feasible before doing anything with it. I'd be very, very grateful if you could help me out!
Oh, and as always: thank you sincerely for running this blog. It's saved my bacon countless times, and I simply cannot thank you enough for maintaining such a handy resource for everyone to use!
Sorry I took a bit to answer this week has been tough! Thanks for the kind words! I'll do my best to lay out what I remember from canon but I wouldn't worry so much about following the canon closely, it's not really that clear when it comes to ghosts and souls tbh.
Tansu talks about the souls being shackled to the body as something exclusive from the dungeon, I guess in this sense the person is not dead since the soul hasn't left? Which is different from the ghost where there's no way to resurrect them?
Tumblr media
But in the backstory Falin says the ring is binding the soul so maybe the soul is bound to the ring and not the body? I think that's what would make more sense since they say a few times resurrections aren't possible in the surface it would be strange if just a magical ring could keep a soul shackled to the body
Tumblr media
Here's what the AB speaks about ghosts (and ghouls)
Tumblr media
And here's the monster tidbits
Tumblr media
The description says they have "lost their bodies" and bodies and soul in Dungeon Meshi seem very linked together so I'm not sure if they could re-possess their own bodies after that link is undone? As in if the connection to a soul is no longer there could it still be viable? There might be a reason why they take living people.... it shows them removing the soul of the body as if they're taking it's place but we see that people who are possessed can still be resurrected so that's not really accurate right?
Tumblr media
I wonder! It's not really explained! I said all that speculation but there's still the fact Marcille does a magic to stop Kabru and his party from becoming zombies/ghouls, I assumed she did it to avoid ghosts from going inside them but at this point they think they're dead, so there is a concern about dead people becoming zombies, either other ghosts might enter their recently dead body or maybe their own spirits might get cursed?
Tumblr media
Tbh I think just this is enough canon backing for that situation, it could be that it's a concern even with them being dead is because their souls are still attached to their bodies in the dungeon but idk, like I said I don't think the canon itself it's very clear... If you want to be conservative maybe rather than repossessing their own bodies it could be that the dead are possessing the people that are still dying? Anyway, this is all speculation, I'm in favor of having fun and making up alternative explanations!

I've been wondering what was up with the dog statue in the crypt since I first played this game, and it turns out there's like actually a unmistakable reason he's in this place that I completely missed the first time lol.
This might've been obvious to other people but I'm just gonna put everything here so it doesn't keep knocking around my brain.
Tumblr media
At the start of the rabbit hole I noticed this artifact looked identical to the model for the dog statue - I ended up dismissing it because didn't see any further connection until I noticed T.A.D had this to say about it:
Tumblr media
Let's pull back a little. What we know about the dog statue is that he is trying to find his way to his former master.
Tumblr media
This wasn't new information to me, but it did remind me to think about the relationship between dog-master, master-subordinate etc. Seeking a companion out in the afterlife.
Anyways who put this unassuming corpse with a very distinct model that is unlike any other corpse in the game here.
Tumblr media
Laying this stuff out makes me laugh that I missed it. While playing it through, I interracted with the corpse, thinking I could loot him, and then when you don't get anything from him at all it felt very out of place.
This isn't an enemy model, obviously. In fact, it matches a certain subordinate we saw at the start of the crypt.
Tumblr media
The male bodyguard has an identical voice to the dog statue, which wasn't an immediate tell to me because sometimes voice notes are reused in this game (even gabriella uses robyns pained voice at one point) but the female bodyguard does has the same voice note but tuned differently - the voices are definitely meant to be personal and identifiable to the characters.
The time when we see the dead body also matches up with the time that the male bodyguard is no longer in gabriella's flashbacks, and the female bodyguard is the only one left.
In the final section, we see the dog statue as nothing more than a regular dog statue - he has nothing more to say.
He's found his place by a coffin.
Tumblr media
I would wager that this was meant to be the final resting place of Gabriella before she broke into the crypt to make her own tomb that suited her much more extravagant tastes.
Gabriella's entire motivation is to feel like she's worth more than her parents by belittling and discarding what they had. Her obsession with having the perfect pedestal to spend her everlasting life was that she wanted to feel more powerful, more beautiful, and more perfect than them. To show them, in her life aswell as her death, that she has surpassed them.
This coffin, in a small, dinky corner shoved off to the side like an afterthought, much less private than her parents' coffins, is probably another reflection of how little they truly valued her as a daughter. She doesn't get a room she gets an alcove, so gabriella gives herself an entire two-story basement instead.
My guy Nameless Male Bodyguard really did find his old masters final resting place in his afterlife. And he chose to rest next to her old one, rather than gabriella's post-duchess power fantasy coffin.

Something I've been thinking a lot about lately is how everyone thought Egon had gone insane. What Happened that made them think that. They've fought a gigantic Stay Puft Marshmellow Man TWICE (counting the 2009 video game because iirc it's canon? Correct me if I'm wrong), fought an interdimensional god, fought a blood thirsty ruler that killed thousands and was hated by all that was trapped in a painting (and managed to get in to beat him by making THE STATUE OF LIBERTY start walking down the street with slime that reacted purely based on vibes), found an underground abandoned transit system full of the moodslime, had a bathtub try to eat Dana and her baby, fought a giant murderous black widow lady, fought the fisherman ghost who turned an entire hotel floor into the bottom of a ocean, and that's not even mentioning them getting trapped on an island that randomly raised up from underwater that had been abandoned for decades created by Ivor Shandor who worshipped Gozer. So what did he do or say that made everyone else think he'd gone insane?? All I can think is maybe he was acting strange / eratic before, but he's always been like that to some degree.
I don't know. It's something that I've been thinking about. The correct answer is 'it's not that deep and they needed a reason that the others weren't together anymore and weren't aware of Egons death or know what was going on,' but also. What Was He Saying that prompted everyone, including Ray, to think he lost his mind when he'd been right almost every time before that.
I'm genuinely so curious as to what he was up to before this. What was he doing. What insane idea was working on prior to this or was he even working on anything at all??
Also want to clarify this post isn't negative 😭 I really love the newer movies and their lore / the newer storyline / characters, I just like thinking about small stupid things like this. Gives me something to think about / speculate about / figure out an answer to.
#ghostbusters#egon spengler#nikolas posts#I have so many thoughts on it because I've just been rewatching the two movies on loop for the past few days.#All we got was Ray saying that he'd started talking about the end of the world (IIRC) and that he went insane and took everything#when he eventually left to deal with it on his own#which for the record it's extremely impressive that he would've stopped Gozer from returning BY HIMSELF. The only reason it hadn't worked#was because of the electricity issue#Hiding all the traps and setting up the proton packs to fire at the hell pit?? Insanity. He's just on a complete different level of existin#Like they were aware of Ivor Shandor and his plans long before??? They found his ISLAND DEDICATED TO GOZER who had full intention of#BRINGING THEM BACK#it's really Really REALLY not this deep but I have thoughts and I wanted to share them. Maybe someone else might have an idea I#couldn't think of or might have something to add.#I guess it could be a 'they beat Gozer once and assumed they were gone' but that wasn't the first time Gozer 'died' so??#if I missed something Please tell me. I haven't watched the newer movies as much as the older ones (I grew up watching them / playing#the game so I'm more familiar with the older lore and haven't had the chance to rewatch the newer ones 1000 times over unfortunately)#so it's entirely possible I missed something#I'd think maybe it was just because they were older but I really don't think thats the case. I have reasoning for it but I need to do#the math to make sure I'm getting the ages right by the time AfterLife happens.#really need to make a chart / timeline of all the events that happened and what year / month / day they happened. That's a project#for tomorrow perhaps.#anyways if anyones reading this sorry for the insane rambling and congrats for making it to the end#also this post isn't negative I adore the newer movies so much. I love them a lot and I genuinely don't really care about this at all#just a thing to think / ponder / speculate about if that makes sense#I enjoy thinking about stupid irrelevant stuff like this#so so so many thoughts

Buck moving into Eddie's house seems like a veeeeery convenient way to deal with the loft set being gone and what seems like Eddie being away for a while or RG potentially moving on from the show. Saves money for production, creates a dramatic story for Eddie and Buck's friendship. But also I'm thinking with the possibility of Tommy returning once Buck has gone through a bit more self discovery, it seems like the perfect environment to reconcile and pick up the conversation of moving in together, all without building or finding a new set.

hi he said this in june 2023 rolling stone interview podcast:
"In the lockdown I wrote about the best part of 40 songs," he told Rolling Stone. "So this album was a cross-section of all the different styles that I'd done to that point, which is what I liked about the album. Pretty Boy was a bit like the electronic thing and then there was the Ballad thing and then there was the '60s thing and hen there was like a bit of a jazz thing with Council Skies. So I pick the best things that brought me to this place so far. But there is an acoustic album, as well, which is very stripped back – which I started recording actually recently before I came away [for his current US tour with the High Flying Birds]. And then those years are very heavily guitar bass stadium rock album.
“There is an acoustic album as well, which is very, very stripped back, and which I started recording recently,” he revealed to Rolling Stone: “And then there’s, a very heavily guitar-based, stadium-rock album.”
Rolling Stone then asked the obvious question – why didn't he release that one first?
"I don't know," replied Noel in a rare public display of uncertainty. "I've been proved right anyway in this decision because the album's [Council Skies] been received amazingly well. And better than any album I've ever had so far, so I've been proved right in that respect. But why didn't I go with that? I don't know. I guess because I didn't really know if stadium rock was going to be allowed anymore because of COVID and all that. I didn't know if there was going to be a tour or any of that s*** – things have changed drastically.
"But the guitar album, I'm looking forward to recording," Noel added. "But it's time I did an acoustic album, because I've got a lot of songs that are quite harrowing – they've obviously written in the time of the breakup [Noel is going through a divorce from his wife Sarah MacDonald after 22 years together]. So I want to get that out and then do a euphoric guitar record."

Who's awesome swapped with?
I just realized there isnt really a character to go with his role swap.. but he seems pretty chill, so what if it was Jeff?
I think it'd make sense!! Jeff and Wander are friends and Hater and Awesome are enemies, so it'd work to swap their relationships
Awesome could even encourage Wander to live a little just like how Jeff encouraged Hater to be less well. hateful
nobody specific, yet! jeff did in fact cross my mind several times, because i love him, he's just... such a Major Threat (lol), such a Powerful Dude, that i'm like well if i make him remain evil forever he'd be Fairly dangerous.
this is also one of those reasons i'm real frustrated that wander over yonder didn't get to really round out its stories, because if there was a better springboard for how the dynamic between major threat and wander was before he caved in, i'd have a better idea of how he'd act as a nuisance as opposed to a galaxy-crumbling force to reckon with? like clearly he was vulnerable enough (not unlike hater, worlds squishiest collection of bones) to fall out of evil on account of wander's unrelenting kindness and sweetieness, but like... they're not the same? unless they totally are the same and i'm making it too hard on myself in which case swapping awesome and threat would result in a supportive gym bro and. lord hater II. and i'd just call him minor threat or something

I will say that the one thing I do like about Tim Minear's constant "get them off this hamster wheel" talk, is that it heavily implies that Tommy and Marisol are likely to be Buck and Eddie's last "revolving door" love interests, which says to me that after these relationships break off (which I am absolutely confident they will at some point between now and the end of season 8) that the next relationship Buck and Eddie have will be with each other because everyone knows that those two were always only going to be it for each other once they finally figured it out.

Thank you for being one of the few semi-popular rw creators that doesn't take the lore at face value...
I'm seeing so many people or popular creators misinterpreting things and they make these rumors that propogate thought the fandom despite being a poorly constucted theory at best.
While you also have headcanons I think you make it quite clear when you have one and when you're considering what's "canon"
def one of the best people I follow here.
Weird being called semi-popular, I still feel like one of those accounts that throws confetti when a post gets past 50 notes.
Thanks for the compliment, I suppose. I definitely do try to make that clear after one or two misunderstanding accidents I had in past.
When it comes to misinterpreting though, I don't think that means it's on purpose or deserves having shade thrown at. Especially now, a week after a game with encrypted visual-coded lore came out. It starts being stupid only when they (the creator or their fans) start pushing at it being the only absolute canonical case. That stinks, yeah.
