I hate politics, but my life literally hangs on this; we can't do better if Trump gets back in office. If he gets back in it's Game Over for anyone who isn't a straight white cisgendered Christian man. Women, Queer People, POC, Non-Christian- we won't stand a chance-
I have to vote for Biden not because I like him or what he's doing, but because the alternative will either kill me or make me wish I was dead, along with so many people I know.
We can't fix anything if he wins. Go and vote.
Okay in the midst of this I do wanna say that this absolutely WILL get Trump even MORE support.
So, here's what you're gonna do, okay:
GO. FUCKING. VOTE.
#gremlin noises#reblob#politics#Guys- this is a choice between the lesser of two evils. Small Evils we can replace with Good; Big Evils will start destroying everything#Go and vote if you want to turn your country into something better#I want better for me- for my spouse- for our kiddo-#Everyone in America and the world deserves better than this- other countries look to us to see what they can get away with#Enough is enough

regarding the âthe american education system didnât teach ___ so i never learned itâ posts, some of you are veryyyy much missing whatâs wrong w/ those statements when you give the blanket retort that the american education system actually did teach ___. newsflash: public school curriculums arenât the same in every school/district/county/state. but to take it a step further, the quality of public education depends on state laws and the funding available to schools, which funding depends largely on local property taxes, which means low-income communities end up with low-quality schooling, fewer extracurricular programs, fewer resources for disabled students, more corrupt administration. the system is not about problems with curriculum, itâs much more and much worse than that.
besides the property tax funding, standardized tests also play a huge shitty role in this mess. schools that donât have high test scores, i.e. underfunded schools often with majority low-income black and brown students, are considered âlow-performingâ and actually get less funding from the government as a result, like needed funds can get cut, and their teachers get paid less (and donât even get me started on how programs like teach for america are sending young, white, fully inexperienced teachers to the poorest schools).
standardized tests are chosen at the state level, so states with huge wealth disparities and obviously segregated districts (like CT where iâm from) are measuring the performance of poor kids and rich kids using the same content and scoring system to arbitrarily determine whoâs smart enough to deserve a better funded education. so the tests, i.e. the government, clearly favor the success of rich, white students. and the problem isnât so much which content gets taught and how, as it is how little the american government actually cares about kids learning and having promising futures. like, education truly isnât the point of american public schools. what they care about is deciding who gets to thrive in the world once they become adults.
since schools with majority white and wealthy populations essentially set the bar for what kind of performance is âstandard,â everyone else whose circumstances (academic or otherwise) donât allow them to reach that level are set up by the system to fail. being a âlow-performingâ school means kids are forced to repeat grades, and graduation becomes something out of reach. the schools donât care about their studentsâ needs (especially when the teachers and administrators are mostly white), and real-life factors beyond studentsâ control cause them to struggle in school and they end up getting punished/suspended/expelled at horrifying rates, and yeah thereâs a whooooole host of reasons why school can fucking suck and iâm barely scratching the surface.
anyway, what iâm trying to say here is YES the american education system sucksânot just because certain topics related to racism and imperialism and american history and other countries are glanced over or fully left out of curriculum, but also because success is being gatekept by the white and wealthy. itâs actively a racist system. not being taught important things about the world, or not being taught in a way that is actually engaging, is a problem that anyone anywhere can face, but itâs particularly insidious when you realize that the school system is TRYING to harm poor, black, brown, and immigrant communities.
so just to circle back to the real problem on display in those ignorant posts, it really makes me sick that white liberals can develop such a whiny complex around their own insular lack of curiosity when they donât even know what âamerican education systemâ theyâre talking about. and trying to look better than them by saying they just werenât paying attention in school is completely completely beside the point.
#how did this end up being mostly about standardized tests đ i wanted to get into state laws but it was already way too long#SORRY if this is all obvious or common knowledge. itâs reallyyyy hard to tell how much my fellow white americans know abt our own schools#public school#american education system#systemic racism#education

What did Adam change? (Part 1)
To follow up on my recent reblog about the baby swap, I'm going to take a closer look at Adam where we leave him at the end of S1. Because, by the end of S1, Adam had changed quite a few things... and I'm going to use both the TV show and the book to provide evidence.
To become the Young's real son, I don't think Adam really needed to change all that much. He just says the words to Satan, Satan disappears, and that should be it, right? But no, because Adam goes much further, and I think he does it because he can.
Because Adam has opinions, you see. Opinions on how the world should be and what he wants to happen. Except, unlike Agnes, who needs to write a prophecy and then wait 300 years for her descendant to enact it, Adam can just make it so.
The Other Two Babies
I originally thought about putting all the things Adam changes into a single post, but instead I'm going to make this a short series of posts, because he changes a fair bit. Let's start with where we left off with the baby swap, crack open a copy of the book and discuss the changes for Warlock and Greasy first.
Warlock
Here's some excerpts of Warlock flying home from Megiddo to America (my bolds for emphasis):
It was Sunday afternoon. High over England a 747 droned westwards. In the first-class cabin a boy called Warlock put down his comic and stared out of the window.
...
And now he was going back to the States. There had been some sort of problem with tickets or flights or airport destination-boards or something. It was weird; he was pretty sure his father had meant to go back to England. Warlock liked England. It was a nice country to be an American in.
...
And Warlock flew on to America. He deserved something (after all, you never forget the first friends you ever had, even if you were all a few hours old at the time) and the power that was controlling the fate of all mankind at that precise time was thinking: Well, he's going to America, isn't he? Don't see how you could have anythin' better than going to America. They've got thirty-nine flavors of ice cream there. Maybe even more.
So it's Adam who has sent Warlock back to America, despite Warlock wanting (even, expecting) to be on his way to England. And he's controlling the fate of all mankind.
Greasy
Likewise, he has changes for Greasy Johnson too (the discarded baby who grows up to win prizes for his tropical fish).
The plane was at that point passing right above the Lower Tadfield bedroom of Greasy Johnson, who was aimlessly leafing through a photography magazine that he'd bought merely because it had a rather good picture of a tropical fish on the cover. A few pages below Greasy's listless finger was a spread on American football, and how it was really catching on in Europe. Which was odd⌠because when the magazine had been printed, those pages had been about photography in desert conditions. It was about to change his life.
Adam is deciding here how to alter Warlock and Greasy's paths. Warlock wants to be back in the UK, but Adam thinks America is better, while Greasy's magazine is changed to American football, which I guess is implying he's going to become an American footballer.
Now, not everyone may be aware, but these parts weren't in the first release of the novel. It only came about later, in the American edition. Apparently the changes were in response to prompting from the American editor, but they got "carried away" making those changes (source).
Season 3 (warning: speculation)
So, do you think this could be relevant for S3? For me personally, the fact that these bits were added later makes me wonder if this was helping to set up for a potential sequel. It's certainly poetic - just like the baby swap that originally involved all three, we are now implying a potential adolescent swap of Greasy, who is interested in American football, and Warlock, who is interested to return to the U.K.
If you've read at all about the hypothetical plot of the proposed written sequel, you'll know that it involved a trip to America, ostensibly to look for a lost Jesus. So, if the next book was originally meant to be about going and finding someone (Jesus?) in America, then Greasy or Warlock could make sense. It would be a switcheroo all over again if Warlock had left for the UK and Greasy for America.
Another alternative is that all three could end up converging in America, since Warlock already lives there and both Adam and Greasy have interests in going there. But if that's the intention, why mention that Warlock wants to be back "home" in the U.K.?
So, those are my possible takes on how this passage can be interpreted. I know there are some theories that either Greasy or Warlock may be the Second Coming. I've also seen a theory now that Adam himself could be a contender (both spawn of Satan and spawn of God - it'd certainly be interesting!). I'm not placing bets on any of these outcomes just yet.
In addition to this passage in the book, we also see some interesting changes made by Adam which are featured more prominently in the show - one's that have implications for the ineffable husbands.
Part 2 coming soon!

Gonna be so real rn.
I barely care about the election rn and my frustrations are focused on the people of minority groups who decided to vote for The parody version of the Annoying Orange, People who voted 3rd Party, and People who didnt vote at all and people who voted for Kamala wishing death upon people who dont deserve it to make the other voters feel guilty. etc. etc.
I have empathy for the people who just didnt want to support genocide and even the killer of their families but at the end of the day. No matter who you picked, America nor any other problem in the world is gonna change if you decide to let worst of all options win. We have to be smart about destroying the system and rebuilding bc guess what? No matter who you voted for or didnt vote at all, its all complicit which aint something we can control if youre living in this country.
Every single President INCLUDING Obama have supported all genocides going on. INCLUDING the silent ones going on here in America. Trump winning simply made the fire to those genocides much stronger bc now? The average citizens who support these disgusting actions are PROUDER THAN EVER.
No politician in this world is good, that was everyones first mistake. No politician in this world is good. Its just like all cops are pigs. There may be SOME good ones but that literally never matters because they're the people those systems will throw out of their gangs or they simply silence them until they become complicit or brainwashed.
Voting may not be an act of defiance but absolutely is a tactic to make it EASIER for us to defy and even riot.
My whole life, I was never given proper autonomy and I refuse to give up the autonomy ive gained through out my time in college. I refuse to be fucking scared. If I die, I die. but if I live, Im gonna fucking live.
I cant transition due to not only my psychotic diagnosis but because I will NEVER trust a medical professional when it comes to putting things in my body. My blackness was stripped away from me my whole life by my BLACK family who made me insecure about everything I couldnt control and forced the start to having so much internalized Anti-Blackness towards myself. Abortion has been illegal where I am for a WHILE before Trump became President and even than family have shown that they wouldnt support it if it seemed unjustifiable to them.
All the things ive seen people worry about has already been taken away from me so nothing has really changed for me, things ive had to worry about my whole life. So I cant imagine the fear that all of you may be having but this is why we need access to information and community.
Learn the things you refused to look at. Observe and learn the complexity of not only the people you love but the people whom you hate as well. Understand community, understand love. Stop seperating. Stop excluding the people who NEED community. CREATE COMMUNITY.
(Ive been hoping that we recreate ballrooms again cause like, I need that shit tbh. Need me a real mother fr.)
There are many things weve been through throughout history and we survived. Things were always hard and it shouldnt be but it wont get better if we become divisive. (Which is what ive been seeing for a long time from almost every minorty group. which sucks.)
I hope yall read this with not only love but with sterness. Not only empathy but with disappointment. Not only support but with warning.
Every person who simply wants to exist as a person should be given just that and I not only want that for me. But everybody in this world.

+ TOPIC : // the dismissal of aged superman phrases + brief touches on superman belongs to the world ( and a mention of identity ...)
notes: this meta sprung out of no where, i do think the focus of it gets lost at some point as i express more points about superman in relation to the main topic. i wish to make a more specific meta on clarks identity issues + how superman belongs to the world...there is also a brief talk of how clarks parents affected the man he is that deserves so much more brushing on. the panels i use need a shout out to jonathan kent as he is a big influence on clark's person. with that being said, i still hope you all can understand me clearing up superman's misunderstood character and what he represents regardless of how this is written.
the obsolete superman phrase " truth, justice, and the american way " has done so much damage to him. it gives the idea that he champions america and american ideals, giving him a biased opinion on one way of life and that he belongs to one nation. originally this was a phrase given to him for propaganda reasons back in the Olden past. clark is not the first comic character to be a victim of propaganda. there are many covers of him with eagles, or holding the american flag all in out of date fashion. i am very against superman ever having bias to any nation in the world over another. most of the time, when American identity is put on clark its always in old fashioned obsolete writing.
though, there is a proper way to put american identity on clark, and thats how it was a form of assimilation him ... before clark ever knew he was adopted and an alien he would be every identity that made sense of him. then comes a day he is aware he is no of this world nor human. when he finds this out he realizes all the identities ( american and human ) he has known are false then he enters a intense identity searching mission to find his true origins similar to how many adopted children of other countries feel. ( i do not fault the kents for anything, they did the best they could. )
as clark ages he comes to realize he is more than what he ever thought he was. he becomes a man of the people seeing that there is oppression, evil, and crime throughout the globe. superman becomes an icon for the entire world, a beacon of hope to inspire anyone who need to look to something believe in. it would be selfish for a man who heralds hope to align himself with a country or natio when the things he stands for belong to everyone. truth, justice, and hope.
his care lies within the entire world, every beating heart. i highly doubt clark considers himself american, merely american on paper but not by heart. clarks identity will always be a very complex topic, but i did want to touch upon how americaness seems so unfair to his character and to the people in the world who look up to him as a symbol of hope.
ultimately, the new and improved phrase will always have it right: â truth, justice, and a better tomorrow. â
clarks love for the people can be found from not just seeing first hand that others need something to be loved by, but his parents. the lessons from his mother and values of his father created a person that has a UNCONDITIONAL amount of love for the world. his mother cared for him. his father calling him special. his parents helping him take his first steps. being told nothing that he is loved. the man that grew out of these lessons only says the same to those that live on every corner of earth. everyone is special to superman.

I canât picture a scenario where I hate someone so much Iâd sell my country down the River. I canât picture a situation where Iâd relinquish all my principles to spite someone. Thereâs no circumstance where , just to get at somebody, I would forego my values. Thereâs nothing you could offer me for my self respect.
Thatâs what the Republican Party and MAGA have done. MAGA, and their hatred of anyone who does better in life than themselves, which is pretty much everyone who isnât MAGA, have sold our nation out. They have handed the keys to the car to the drunkest person at the bar. They have pushed the cart over the edge it once balanced, and off in to the a watery grave below it goes. Goodbye America, thanks for everything.
I suppose Woke deserved it. Fuckin pricks and their want for equality. Damn Woke and their wanting justice. Justice for the climate, justice for the middle class, justice for everyone, like that damn allegiance we used to take. I got an idea! Letâs put the worlds dumbest fake billionaire, you know the guy who says âyouâre fired, yea that feller with the yeller hair implants. Thatâs the guy we should have for president.
Itâs hard to imagine being that stupid. Itâs by design. Why do you think the majority of red states have the lowest rankings in education. To manufacture a bunch of idiots as a reliable voting block.
Maybe we should put that feller with the big forehead, that guy from Florida, if wrap around shades were a person, Matt Gaytes. That there guy would make a good attorney general, whatevet that is. How bout that other guy, with the voice sounds like here been gargling broken glass. Definitely department of Health. Perdy much, if they ainât qualified to run it, put em in. Itâll make for one hell of a season of the prentiseâŚ
Then you got these cowards like Lindsey Graham. Thereâs been times I almost feel bad for the damn guy. Trumps got him so tightly wrapped around his finger I canât breathe. His counterpart, Tim Scott, heâs almost worse. Itâs all he can do to not call TrumpâŚ. Anyway⌠Heâs pathetic. Got snubbed again by Trump for a cabinet position.
Rick Scott! No one has ever looked the part of Nosferatue better. Hollywood couldnât have made a better batboy from the National enquirer. Guess we do know what happened to him now. Him and Ron Sanctimonious are in Florida circle jerking to a piece of trumps suit he pretended to almost get assasinated in.
What a joke!
Iâm not a deeply religious man but. The end of days may be near. I should find some cardboard to write on so I can warn everyone!

Why Iâm Voting For Donald Trump In The 2024 Election
If you said 3 years ago that Iâd be voting for Donald Trump,Iâd say that you were crazy.I was a Democrat since I was a kid when it was Bill Clinton vs. George H.W. Bush where I was convinced that Bill Clinton was the better choice to where I was rooting for him,Al Gore and John Kerry. Then I voted for Barack Obama,Hillary Clinton and Joe Biden although Obama was the only one I voted for on my own since I really wanted Bernie Sanders instead of Clinton & Biden. After Joe Biden won and everything that my friends warned me about would happen if Biden won did happen,I regretted my vote and wished that I voted for Trump. This caused me to look at the conservative side and started watching people like Arielle Scarcella,Gothix,Jericho Greem,Officer Tatum, and Ruined Leon that caused me to see the world in a different way.I then wished I voted for Trump after finding out that Biden was everything that Trump was accused of.He said to someone that you ainât black if you donât vote for him, that poor kids are just as bright & intelligent as white kids, doesnât think that not all black people know how to get online, didnât want his kids to grow up in a racial jungle and much other racist stuff.Since Biden has been our President, prices have gone up,crime has gone up,and our country has become more divided.Drag queens are now in schools, kids are reading porn, men can be allowed to compete in womenâs sports along with showering with women in their locker rooms as long as they refer to themselves as women without the consent of the biological women, there really is no boarder since illegal immigrants continue to come our country, and homeless veterans are being kicked out of hotels to make room for the illegal immigrants. This is going on and yet there are people who still plan on voting for Biden just because heâs not Trump. Why?Trump put America first while Biden has put America last.Biden sent our money to help continue supporting a war instead of trying to end it.He even asked if having lower gas prices here in America is more important than having Putinâs iron fist in Europe.Thatâs like you could be on a better budget, but someone youâre living with would rather help pay your neighborâs bills instead of you spending all of your money to where you have to starve just to pay your own bills. If youâre saying that youâre voting for Joe Biden because of all the charges against Trump are making you think that heâs not fit to be president or think heâs going to jail, then youâre falling for everything the media is making you believe what they want you to believe since theyâre the ones who control the people who just use the media as their sources when it turns out that the media has been bias all of this time.Especially with the negative ads towards people like Donald Trump,Ron DeSantis, and Tudor Dixon while trying to make people like Joe Biden & Gretchen Whitmer look good.Plus imagine if Mitt Romney won in 2012 and this all happened to Obama when he planned on running for president again in 2016.Romney having the FBI raid his place for documents, being charged for stuff that he didnât do.Democrats would be saying the attacks on Obama were election interference. So to everyone who is all âvote blue no matter whoâ,âorange man badâ,and everything else that cause the election results to backfire,I just want you to remember that if you complain about how things are and yet vote for Joe Biden again just because heâs not Trump, then you deserve this.Sometimes you have to believe that you have to swallow your pride and vote for the person based on how they run the country instead of how you feel about them.Vote Trump in 2024 to save America because itâs a disaster right now and Biden will become a dictator if you let him stay president. Please put your country before your personal feelings.

I'm curious, why do you think 'illegals' as you said, should be removed from the united states? they're taking the jobs no one wants to do; the manual labor. As well as that, if people didn't emigrate from other places, the united states wouldn't be what it is today.
as well as that, don't you think those people deserve to have a place where they can live and thrive? they're people just like us who most came from bad situations. I'm curious to hear your thoughts on it
They are illegals, they break into the country. Unless illegally entering a place is not a crime, they are illegals. They are raping, murdering, sex trafficking, child trafficking, human trafficking, human smuggling, drug trafficking, etc. They are bringing their gangs, and terrorizing our cities. They are robbing warehouses, they are not working, they do not speak english. They are draining our taxpayer dollars... how are they helping the economy? We are paying for their education, housing, healthcare. News flash, we can't afford that for ourselves!?
El Tren de Aragua, they are for sure doing the jobs no one wants to do. Kicking people out of their homes, shooting up Aurora, sex trafficking... tough work right there. Countries are emptying their prisons and dumping the criminals here, that's why their crime is so low, the criminals are here.
Where are you in America because they are being sent to poor black and hispanic neighborhoods, the projects, the bronx, etc. They aren't being sent to rich areas, that's for sure. They are stealing from citizens. Look at the states that take them, California and New York are a joke. Colorado is more dangerous than 3rd world countries and Ohio's animals are in danger!
What about the American people? Do we not deserve a place to live and thrive? Where our pets aren't being stolen and eaten? Where homelessness isn't taking over? Where we can get stable jobs? Why is unemployment so high in America, if they are only taking jobs no one wants to do? Why are Americans on the street while they are getting free housing and free money? Our veterans are out on the street, not receiving half the help these illegals are.
The truth is, the ones that aren't taking our jobs, they are not working at all. Or they're criminals. The government is paying them to be here, they were poor at home for a reason: they don't want to work, and that has not changed.
My mom is an immigrant, I believe in LEGAL immigration. We are a country of settlers, but immigration is very common today. Diversity is dangerous when done at mass, I can't go to public school here because it's all "No ingles." We use live subtitles to teach classes. If I want to meet other english speakers, they told me I have to join an after school club.
I feel like a foreigner in my own country. How is that fair for me? Why do they deserve better if they aren't even willing to do it legally? Look at Europe, taking muslims in at mass. Crime is at an all time high. Rape, murder, Shariah Law. Enough is enough. Send them home, put Americans first. This is America, not Russia, not China, not Mexico, not Venezuela. They are not better humans than us, they don't deserve anything special.
The they are stealing our jobs and not are working are not contradictory statements, by the way. America is big, it depends on where these illegals are sent and who they are. Some come just to bring their crimes here.
Look, I live in California. Everyone comes here. I've met Koreans, Chinese, Russians, Mexicans, Germans, Filipinos (woo,) Vietnamese, British, French, and more. We don't hate them, they are some very smart people. But they are here legally, how if it fair to them that it is easier for illegals? Crime-committers that they came here to get away from.

Our enemy is the ivory tower, the know-it-all credentialed expert worldview, indulging in abstract theories, luxury beliefs, social engineering, disconnected from the real world, delusional, unelected, and unaccountable â playing God with everyone elseâs lives, with total insulation from the consequences.
Someone stayed up way too late reading the works of Ayn Rand and in a ketamine driven manic state started writing.
Clearly Andreessen has been smoking his own supply and is so privileged and ultra wealthy he has no clue what real life is like any longer.
I chose to share the paragraph above because heâs basically describing himself and his fellow libertarian tech bros looking to build a perfect society on the backs of a servant class. Us.
One day this piece will be part of some psychological study on the harms of the early 21st century wrought by a class of technology oligarchs.

In the coming weeks, the majority of Americans will engage in a bizarre, mildly terrifying, distinctly American seasonal ritual. I refer, of course, to open enrollment â the time when you sign up for your health insurance plan.
As far as I know weâre still the only major country in the world with a second rate sense of healthcare.
Healthcare for all is just what the doctor ordered. A healthy America is a better American, just as an educated America is a better America. So, while weâre getting healthcare for all taken care of letâs make all state universities free of charge.

If I had a dime for every âAppleâs going to release a low-end product to compete with other low-end devicesâ rumor, Iâd have a hefty bank account by now. The C++ library has long been organized around stream classes, at least when it comes to reading and parsing strings. But streams can be surprisingly slow.
Call me crazy but I still love C++ as a development language. I never really dove into streams, I used std::string, std::vector, and std::map a ton but not with streams.
The language has morphed so much since 2014 I hardly recognize it. Thatâs not a bad thing, theyâre just trying to make it easier to use and safer for developers.
Anywho, interesting read if youâre into C++ or languages and performance in general.

I can understand businesses doing this if the gaggle of influencers are forcing regulars and paying customers to avoid their favorite haunt. It doesnât seem unreasonable at all.

Carson Hocevar has been formally announced as Spire Motorsportsâ third driver for the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series season, replacing Ty Dillon.
Iâm happy for Carson Hocevar and bummed for Ty Dillon.
Hocevar has driven a few Cup races this season and has proven himself a fast, talented, racer. He has a lot to learn about rubbing elbows with the big boys but heâll learn.
As for Dillion I wonder where heâll land? As far as I know there arenât any Cup Series seats open. Maybe Xfinity or Truck Series? Regardless, I wish him well.

After several years of baking in North House Folk Schoolâs wood-fired brick oven, I decided to build an oven of my own. This is an amazing story! How in the world can someone game the system so hard theyâre able to sell urine bottled as an energy drink? It also exposes Amazon, yet again, as a sweat shop. This time with drivers.

Okay first off-
-Jewish people are not white. That's factually just not true. They do not originate from Europe, which is the region where the group of 'white people' come from. They literally come from Israel. So if people native to Israel are not white then the Jewish people as an ethnicity as not white. And in fact, have been discriminated against in 'white' circles for decades if not centuries. I mean, remember all those jokes about rich white clubs that had the rule of 'No Blacks or Jews'? Yeah, that actually rings true.
-The argument for the Jewish people being native to Israel not 'helping' '''indigenous struggles''' should not affect you. You are arguing a moral standard, you must apply said moral standard in all applicable situations regardless of if it benefits you. The entire point of arguing a moral standard is that it helps makes things better for everyone- basically going 'this doesn't apply here because it fucks me over' is surrendering the moral argument. You just want an uneven playing field, not to be moral and principled.
All of this ignoring that if you can just strip the Jewish People of their 'native' card- Well...what's stopping other countries of stripping their natives of their own status? What's stopping the USA from looking at the Natives and saying 'Since no one alive in your communities actually lived during the time that they owned the land, it's ours now' and then just killing them? The whole argument for natives is that other cultures got the chance to build up their own histories so they should too. If said histories no long matter because *insert bullshit here* then anyone can make anything up to justify it.
-I think that if you were to apply that standard to everyone- You would quickly find the world screeching to a halt. Native tribes murdered and conquered each other too. Same with African tribes, who then sold their prisoners in the slave trade. We can't focus on every single atrocities committed because the number of atrocities exceed human comprehension.
-What's even the point here? That you would get sunburned from living in Israel thus it means you have changed so much that you no longer count? You do know that if I dropped you in the middle of Africa, you'd likely die of exposure right? Does that mean all African Americans have no rights to live in Africa?
This is such a dumb argument. Especially if we take the simplified version of 'This happened so long ago that it no longer counts' because to a human, 2000 years and 158 years aren't that different. You basically made the argument 'The US and Europe are off the hook for slavery'.
-And that's the problem isn't it? This isn't about 'what is indigenous?' It's 'what is beneficial for me?' You side only with the people who are a part of your argument. You care only for advancing your own privilege and ensuring everyone else is below you. The same mindset that caused the evils of imperialism.
The African Jews, ironically, have even less of a right to Israel than the 'White' Jews. Because the 'White' Jews have an actual ethnic history there, the African Jews don't. If you actually believed in the standard of 'Ethnic people deserve to have their ancestral home' then you would care more for the Jewish people you disregard than the religious Jews you support. Again, you only care about them because you see it as increasing your own privilege.
-It's literally more of a claim that the sub groups you support by your own logic but okay.
-Gonna be honest here-
You are native to America.
The only reason I accept this conflict in the slightest is because both groups have lived and grown up in that area. They accept that area and it's ideals, culture and beliefs. They are actually native to that area. Your hypothetical does not apply because you did not grow up in England. You did not accept that culture as your own. You do not have a right to it because you never earned it.
The Arabs and the Jewish People in Israel did.
-'still black ppl enslaved in the US-'
Literally been illegal for 158 years, dumbass. To such a point it's not even a part of fringe political discourse. And no, the prison system doesn't count- that isn't slavery.
-'And the discourse around Jewish Indigineity to Isareal won't change anything for other indigenous groups nomatter which way the wind blows.'
Well if the argument that 'being separated from country of origin for X years means you no longer count' is accepted- You're gonna quickly find yourself up shit creek without a paddle.
Gentile leftists, this is a PSA, and I am begging you to listen. Sharing claims that Jews arenât indigenous to the land of Israel, that Jews donât come from the Middle East, and/or that the Zionist movement wasnât created in response to centuries of antisemitism & genocide is fringe revisionist history with a long antisemitic history. These arenât anti-imperialist or anti-colonial stances. They are just antisemitic conspiracy theories.
And on the flip side, acknowledging the simple fact that Jews are indigenous to the region currently occupied by Israel & Palestine does not imply any opinion about the modern states of Israel & Palestine, their governments, or the conflict in the region. This post is not voicing support for Zionism or the state of Israel. This is literally just historical fact: both Jews and Palestinians are indigenous to the region where modern day Israel & Palestine are.
If you make this about the politics or conflicts of the modern states of Israel or Palestineâif you comment or send me asks to that effectâyou will be blocked.
#there needs to be a better way to refer to refer to religious jewish people#calling a jewish person#ethnic or religious a 'jew'#feels so dirty

Calibrating Thoughts
Offering amnesty to all those who got all of it wrong has to come with a time limit. Qualified forgiveness canât resemble pretending another couple months of printing currency will beat inflation. This country could use a reset to fix everything alleged brilliance caused.
Tired new thinking sure doesnât seem to be generating awesome results, what with crime being the only flourishing enterprise and endless acrimony under a regime that promised amity. Saying something doesnât make it happen for the daft.
Decide thereâs racism everywhere if youâd like to find it. Thereâs as much evidence behind the plan to get rich by compiling more debt. America in 2023 might not be Jim Crow Junior. Anyone nothing such is naturally accused of perpetuating inequality for not thinking everyone liberals have decided is disadvantaged.
Youâre going to find what you seek. It just might not be what you were really looking for. That brings us to liberals. Distorting results is the only option when ideas donât pan out. What are they supposed to do: come up with better thoughts? Thatâs impossible.
Listen to experiment details from the very scientific as they proclaim their admiration for what never happened. Everyone can actually afford everything they desire and itâs greedy corporations keeping you from buying anything, anyway.
Learning history is a drag. Itâs not like all that stuff will happen again. But it may be possible that the past offers clues about what doesnât work. Patterns are like experiments that have already been conducted, which is why Democrats get it wrong, too. Â
Enemies of the military and law enforcement think itâs possible for government to protect them from a virus. The autocratically frightened gave up liberty because they wanted security and got neither, which sounds unnervingly familiar. Liberals should heed Ben Franklinâs advice even though he was an old white guy who founded an icky nation with lots of guns and no insurance mandate. He was talking about tyrants ordering you about, not getting a respiratory infection. Everyone got sick while giving away their rights.
Examples of why messianic morons who possess no skill other than suckering a majority of voters into thinking life requires elected guidance should be denied power are reassuringly consistent. Itâs less comforting how enough eligible participants continue to fall for it. Having too many failures to process is the only excuse.
Asking when government has ever been useful either takes an eternity or an instant to answer. While results are as clear as anything can be in this rather cloudy world, the tricky part for some takes the form of acknowledging them. Keep pursuing the precise opposite of what conclusions clearly indicate to flaunt a true dedication to stubbornness. The refusal to yield to reality is particularly baffling for those who obnoxiously profess unwavering devotion to science. Presumptions based in pretending to help for a cheap and hollow emotional lift donât quite seem to benefit those the government pretend to help.
Opining thereâs no way to fund something without an elected twitâs consent is wrong financially, too. Lack of trust is a personal issue spread to politics. Humans might just be able to choose what projects deserve how much cash and even receive an item or service in return.
Investors using their own money fund as if they have a stake in the game for mysterious reasons this White House cannot determine. Liberals despise the sensation because it feels like personal responsibility. Spending whatâs seized from the productive creates just the results youâd expect from government unless you think removing the accountability that naturally follows the interaction between buyers and sellers creates efficiency.
Weâll have to accept inadvertent assistance during these modern unenlightened times. The only useful part of Joe Bidenâs presidency is seeing how useless it is. Deciding whatâs best starts with choosing someone who respects the same. Everyone is just about tired of being told what to do, especially by someone who does everything wrong.
Americans starved for mercy wish heâd stop showing why everyone who doubted him was right all along. Every Biden administration flub, flop, or colossal screwup shows why itâs in their benefit to stop doing anything. Even better, itâd be in Americaâs. But they disregard that obvious evidence, too.
This executive branch isnât going to stop rotting our roots just because itâs clearly happening. Itâs not like heâll stop because he keeps doing everything wrong. Putting socks on his hands isnât for a puppet show despite what the White House press secretary claims. Bidenâs been a deleterious oaf for as long as heâs been in public disservice. In a republic, blame people who keep voting in such people. Americans are free to stop voting to hand over rights to options who canât be trusted to correctly identify their limbs.

What Eurovision 2021 taught us
1. That a nice, enjoyable show was possible (even if 4 presenters are still too much)
Of course nothing can beat Love Love Peace Peace (even if Ja Ja Ding Dong does its best), but this year's intermissions were very enjoyable.
We expected something flashy and over the top because hey, The Netherlands. Sex, drugs, gays and all that jazz.
But instead Covid surprised us. And then The Netherlands surprised us even more, by making a very enjoyable show, despite the restrictions. My personal favourites were:
The water intermission of the first semi-final. I loved the mixed feelings, how water is both scary and respected, for being such a powerful, unstoppable force.
The rooftop concerts during the final. Social distancing? Sure, no problem, let's make the past winners sing on top of some roofs all over Rotterdam. That was pure genius, I loved it so much.
On the other hand, the presenters were basically all useless. We could've had just two of them instead of four. But hey, at least they weren't as cringy as the three scary ukranians from 2017 or the useless four ladies from Portugal. The true highlights of the show were the intermissions, the guests and especially the songs themselves and this is perfectly good for me.
________________________
2. That we can live in a world without boring ass ballads
Iâve never been so proud of the Eurovision public, especially during the second semifinal: that evening was PACKED with ballads. Boring ballad after boring ballad, with just a couple more funny songs in between.
The ballads were all left behind. Even the two Amen. And I love the irony we chose El Diablo and the finnish band for the final, but no Amen. No saints allowed, only the norwegian angel. As it always should be.
And so we had the best final I've seen since I started following Eurovision in 2014. Catchy songs, dance songs, upbeat songs. And power ballads. Yes, ballads can still have a place, but only if they're good.
Because yes, Switzerland and France were good. Very good. Just not as good as the ones the public wanted.
________________________
3. That we want Eurovision, not Englishvision
Every year, the same message blasts from all Europeans: send a song in your native language. This show is supposed to make other people from Europe (and the rest of the world) to know more about your own country, to enjoy its rhythm and to listen to something we don't usually hear. So why waste this huge opportunity, to bring a generic song in English?
Because the English song wins. Because we all understand English, so English has more chances.
Flash news: GUESS WHO WON THIS YEAR. No, itâs not the generic English song.
The public has been crystal clear, the final poll is even clearer: the top five includes an italian song, an ukraine song, two french songs and only one english song. We want different styles and rhythms, we want to listen to Europe.
So I want to give my full thank you to:
Albania: amazing song, great voice, wonderful language. Do it again.
Serbia: these ladies are fantastic, their song is great and they sang it in their language so I love them
Switzerland: thank you for leaving English to the side to give us some good french
Spain: the song wasn't as good as Universo, but it was in sexy spanish, so thank you for using it almost every year
Danemark: the song was terrible, but it was in your language and this alone deserves everything
France: I know we all make fun of you for being France, but your language is perfect for songs, so thank you for always using it
Ukraine: take note, Ukraine, because Europe is madly in love with your language and your rhythm
Italy: our language is beautiful, so thank you for delivering every year
While my biggest biases go to:
Greece: a generic pop song with no balkan rhythm and no greek either? An absolute shame, greek should always be used for songs.
Russia: russian language is very melodious and yes, we got something this year, but what about bringing a full russian song? We want it!
Germany: I may sound crazy, but I honestly think german language is good for songs. It's not like the mediterranean languages, but it still works. So please, do not be scared and show what you can do with it!
Scandinavian countries: why do you never want to bring your own language? Do it, don't be scared! Yes, Sweden, I'm talking with you: you still never tried to bring something in swedish, so do it.

4. That we don't want Americans to play with us
For reasons we still have to understand, Flo Rida was competing this year. And he was competing for San Marino, the smallest European country.
I'm pretty sure they took some time to explain to him what was going on, where he was, where San Marino is, wtf was happening, why there were sexy italians and ukranian witches and a norwegian angel and loads of beautiful women everywhere.
And I loved how we all send memes about this, about ahahah why is Flo Rida here, what if San Marino wins where would they host Eurovision, all while enjoying an actual catchy song.
And then, in the end, Flo Rida basically disappeared. Who remembers Flo Rida, when we got Ukraine, Italy, Finland, Iceland, and the UK? And Germany being wholesome? And the love story between Norway and Azerbaijan? We collectively forgot about him and I think it's very sexy from Europe to just say "nope" and push America away, even if for just one week.
And this isn't the first time: we basically showed Madonna in a corner in 2019, thanks to Mans, Eleni, Verka and Conchita. Once again, Europeans knows what they want: we don't want Americans. Australia can because they're like that little brother we took under our wing for no reason and now it's part of us. But not Americans.
The rest of the year is all yours, but one week is ours.
________________________
5. That we can lose like bosses
This year, the voting results have been absolutely insane and FOUR COUNTRIES got zero points from the public, while the UK got both zero points from the public AND the jury.
Don't get me wrong, the song was bad. And yes, Brexit played a role in this. And yes, hating England is Europeâs favourite sport.
But can we please all take a moment and appreciate how James Newman reacted? The public gave him a round of applause and he celebrated this achievement like a boss.
And he had all the reasons! He achieved something incredible, he unlocked something that this new voting system was supposed to never lead to. But he did it. So hats off to you, my boy: My Last Breath was better.
Germany is also used to the bottom of the chart, but this year I really thought Jendrik could have a chance to achieve a higher position. The song was funny, carefree, lively, the hand costume was the kind of trash we need and the message was nice as well. But he still got 3 points.
Despite that, Jendrik celebrated like a maniac and seeing his this happy made me happy as well. I really wish him the best.
________________________
6. That FUCK YOU JURY
Again, same message every year: the jury vote should be eliminated. It's a fucking farce and their votes have nothing to do with what the public want.
The jury focuses on the voices, except when they don't, and clearly giving points to your neighbours is because you like the song, not because they're your neighbours.
I usually make fun of Greece and Cyprus showing eternal love to each other, by giving 12 points to each other every year, but this time, it sounded even more stupid than usual. It really looked like a farce. Why should we see this farce? Why can't we just choose what the public wants? So at least we would blame ourselves for our shitty musical tastes.
Even if I'm pretty sure we all have great musical tastes. Let's not forget that in 2019 the public's winner was Norway, with a song that mixed english, a catchy rhythm and an amazing part in yoik language. Arcade is good as well, but we cannot deny the norwegian entry was a lot more interesting.
And this year, the public's taste was flawless:
Look at this beauty: italian glam rock, ukranian techno folk, french powerful ballad, finnish hard rock and whatever that thing was with Iceland.
There's variety, there's everything for everyone. And there are native languages. Italian, Ukranian, and French on top three, followed by English.
Moral of the story: the public is great and the jury should be abolished forever.
________________________
7. That Ukranian technofolk is all we needed in our lives
I didnât see enough love for Go_A, so as italian, I think it's my sworn duty to give my appreciation to them and their amazing entry, because this band is awesome and Shum is currently on top of the Spotify top 50 - as it should be, because everyone should listen to it and join this slavic rave party.
I already liked their entry for 2020, Solovey. But I also liked My Last Breath from the UK and Universo from Spain. And this year they brought two of the worst songs. So I was very wary of Go_A.
But Shum is an absolute blast. Katerina Pavlenko's voice is unique and the song is even more, because based on ukranian folklore and traditional dances to summon the spirit of spring. They managed to teach something to all Europe in a three minute song and I think thatâs incredibly sexy of them.
And so, I searched for other songs and OMG, I donât know how itâs possible, but they are all great. Rano-Ranenko, Zhalmenina, Tanula, they all are perfect and Iâm in love with this band.
And if all of this is not enough, THEY DID A COVER OF DANCING LASHA TUMBAI. The most iconic Eurovision song, sang by our god Verka. And this is the coolest, most badass cover ever in the whole universe. Please listen to it HERE everyone needs to hear this.
So thank you, Ukraine, for giving us Go_A. We all had a small empty place in our hearts and this place has ben perfectly filled by them.
And yif you think you donât need ukranian technofolk, is only because you still havenât listened to it. Please listen and enjoy Shum. Youâre welcome.

8. That rock and roll never dies (and Italyâs well deserved victory)
The last time Italy won was in 19-fucking-90. 31 years ago. I was just born.
And now, they finally won again. And what a song! Despite being italian, I've never listened to Maneskin before, but oh damn, this song is good. Not all their songs are, but this one is. And also Morirò da re.
Their show was perfect as well. This post is really eye-opening about how well they put on their show. The use of the stage, the movements, everything has been part of a great performance, even their clothes. Damiano's voice never faltered, despite having an entire continent watching him. They handled the stage like bosses, despite being only in their twenties. And they gave us some good fucking rock.
And so the public said a loud "FUCK YOU" to the jury and chose its winners. The sassy, sexy italians.
And yes, I know that there has been a lot of petty polemics because those youngsters are having drugs!1!! as if they were a bunch of idiots who used drugs on international TV, with their manager sitting next to them.
Of course it was a pointless accusation and honestly I don't care if some people are sore losers. The drug results were negative anyway, what a shocker.
What we should truly think about is how strong the Maneskin's bladders are, because they spent the whole evening of the final drinking the entire alcohol supply of the Eurovision and, at the end, they were still happy and cool. Hats off to you, you sexy people.
This man is just iconic, why did I miss him before.
Also, have some more Maneskin. You know, as a treat.

9. That solidarity and wholesomeness are the biggest winners
It's just beautiful to see these nice people, from all over Europe, bonding, having fun, taking photos together and being friends.
The true winner of this, is probably Norway: Tix wanted to have a good time and he had a good time. The video of him vibing with Ukraine and Germany while listening Hard Rock Hallelujah is the best (HERE). His love story with Efendi from Azerbaijan is even better (please, check the video on his youtube channel, it's hilarious). I don't like his song, but he's a great guy and deserves everything.
The italian and finnish rock relationship is also great. Maneskin and Dark Sides found each other, considering they were the only two rock bands in the competition, so mutual appreciation was inevitable.
But Damiano is also a man of culture and he appreciates Ukraine's entry. And Ukraine appreciates both Finland and Italy. Is this what world peace looks like? Because I love it.
________________________
10. That Italians will be Europe's clowns again (and you're all allowed to make fun of us)
Beware, Europe: we Italians are messy and chaotic, our presenters donât know a single word in English, we are homoerotic AND homophobic at the same time, our musical competitions are so fucking sloooow... letâs say next yearâs Eurovision is going to be interesting.
And yes, youâre allowed to make fun of us. We donât care, we won, so we deserve to be Europeâs clowns once again.
And I donât know who the presenters will be (my bets are on everyoneâs favourites: Fiorello, Amadeus and Malgioglio), I donât know how we will ridicule ourselves once again, I donât know where will we find the money to put on the show, I donât know how ungodly long it will be... but I know that Mans Zelmerlow will be part of it. This man loves Eurovision just like all of us, so I can already see him packing his suitcase and planning his flight to Italy. Come to us, Mans, we will wait for you. We actually need an English presenter, so if you have nothing else to do...

ALSO that look, that mf look. I'd die.
-:-
America is nothing like Germany or any other country you've visited in the past. Aside from economic differences and views in politics, you find that everyone here is generally accepting, a bit aggressive, but kind enough to overshare their thoughts. There is a jovial atmosphere that you find yourself attesting to and then there's also the glaring culture shock that assaults you left right and center. It has definitely been a happy adjustment.
"Becky Jane price check to cash five! Becky Jane price check to cash five." A woman hollers over the intercom as you and your good friend, Mia giggle down the aisles. You are in America visiting her for the first time after a long time. She's well settled, attending UMass, living her best life and you couldn't be any happier for her.
"So what should we make for dinner?" She turns to ask you.
"Anything is fine with me, I mean it's getting kind of late now and I'd be okay with cereal." You point to a box of Cocopuffs and your friend shakes her head.
"That's not the first meal you're having in America Y/N." She chides you before coming up with one of her better ideas. "C'mon let's go over to the produce section, we can grab some ingredients for my world famous spinach and feta lasagna!"
You laugh but a part of you is tempted to stay, still enticed by the large array of sugary breakfast cereals. "Actually you go on ahead I wanna look around here for a bit."
Your friend rolls her eyes. "Fine if you're really hellbent then we can have cereal for dessert. How does that sound?"
"Perfect." You smile at her as she shakes her head and trolleys down the narrow aisle way.
There are so many options and while standing in the middle of the aisle you can't help but take in the rows of corrugated and colorful boxes, all brandishing a character or mascot of some sort. You finally settle on one box, reach over to grab it but then come up short when another hand does the same. You gasp and unsubtly retreat in unison, there's that assurgency that parallels your feelings of embarrassment and awkwardness.
"Oh I'm sorry!" You say before getting a better look at the man standing right next to you.
"No that's alright." He chuckles as your eyes shamelessly widen. It's him. The all American ass man himself, Chris Evans. He seems unreal. A simulation almost as he's idling around in a fitted red plaid flannel, dark blue jeans and a NASA cap that has seen better days.
"You can have it."
"Er, um, are you sure?" You ask and he nods, playfully bouncing his brows at you with an immobilizing grin.
"Yeah I can settle for something else." He eyes the shelf and then picks out a box of Special K, fibrous and healthy.
"Oh no don't, here take it." You joust him with the box and his head drops, laughing softly.
"It's fine. I'm better off with this stuff anyways." He says while sticking around, edging for some more conversation as his eyes inconspicuously drinks you up. You bob your head up and down and purse your lips, flustered to even properly smile at the actor who looks proportionally the same in person, if not even more breathtaking.
"I'm Chris by the way. But I'm sure you already knew that." He states out loud and you nod slightly while closely holding onto the last box of Captain Crunch. "And you must be?"
"Y/N." You say softly and his face turns up with appreciation. A beautiful name for a beautiful girl he thinks to himself.
"Nice to meet you Y/N. I'm guessing you're not from around here." You both walk the back aisles, perusing through at a snails pace.
"How'd you..." You falter.
"You have a slight accent." Chris admits, pointing to his mouth to gesture the lilt he's been carefully in tune with. Your mouth forms into an 'o.' "But it's cute though."
"Oh!" Your voice goes up a register and then back down again when you laugh at his double sidedness. "Yeah I'm not."
"That's cool, where are ya from? If you don't mind me asking, that is." Chris holds to himself, making sure that he wasn't overstepping any boundaries by making casual conversation.
"Germany." You state without any pressing objections.
"Ahh best known for Stollen and beer and not to mention, muesli." Chris comes off a worldly man as he factualizes this statement to you as if you weren't aware of the lifestyle itself. "Which makes you very deserving of that box of Cap'n Crunch."
"Oh yeah?" You quirk a brow in questioning.
"For sure. It's an American delicacy and right, have at it." You giggle upon hearing this and Chris finds it scintillating to hear. Wow.
"Well thank you for being so thoughtful Mr. Evans." You sweetly add.
"Of course, always a gentleman." He says with a large hand pressed against his chest, proving to be an honorable man.
"Have you ever been to Germany?" You set forth with another ask and he shakes his head no.
"No I haven't really travelled around Europe like that but I would love to." Chris pipes for you to mentally take note.
"You should go when you get the chance, it's lovely."
"Like yourself?" Chris flirtatiously rebuts.
"At most."
"So what brings you to America?" He ponders.
"My friend lives here and I thought I'd come down visit her for the holidays before going back to college." You tell him and he understandably nods, feeling a pang of disappointment course through him when he realizes that you're probably young if he'd gotten his vague calculations correct.
"That's great. And is that her?" You both approach the front of the store where it's wide open and there are no shelves keeping you two hidden away. You notice your friend Mia giving you a quizzical look of disbelief, as her eyes dance between you and Chris who's used to fan behavior at different paradigms.
"It is and now I'm not going to hear the end of it." You face him with an apologetic look, cueing to Chris that you had to go. He took this in good stride while nodding with solemnness. "I should get going."
"Okay, sure, yeah."
"It was very nice meeting you, Chris." You lightly touch his arm as your thankful way of departure.
"Likewise." He answers with his eyes looking down at you and holding you in place for a split second. First goodbyes were just as ungiving as last goodbyes, especially when there's a sense of unknowingness in being reunited again. There's that chance you forcible take in hopes that the universe will have a timely plan and alignment.
"Y/N?" Mia impatiently calls for you from across the threshold and there is some shared awkwardness in letting go.
"You should..." Chris starts, eyes closing slightly as you back away.
"Right, okay well bye!" You yelp before spinning around, tight on your heels and trudging towards your friend who is now looking at Chris with big, bulbous eyes. Mia's mind races, pieces and panders like any inquisitively gossipy best friend that could've been plucked straight from a 2000's rom-com. She sputters right as you appear in front of her.
"What just happened? How'd you... Y/N, that's Chris Evans!" Mia profanely surmises just as you drop the box of cereal into the cart. "You were talking and smiling and being all cute with Chris Evans!"
"I know. Don't ask."
"I have to because he's eyeing like a hawk Y/N!"
"Oh shit, he is?"
"See for yourself m'dear." She snickers.
You turn around and notice that Chris is waiting in line but his eyes are fully on you as the smile on his lips broadens. There's a substandard twinkle in his blue irises that thanks you for your time - surely an impactful encounter that has him slightly enamored by you in clear focus. And that is enough for you to be contented, knowing that you had an unconventional meet cute with Chris Evans.
Imagine that.

Okay, so after last nightâs episode I would just like to say that Supercorp IS Endgame. Iâd also like to point out the various reasons as to why Kara and Lena are not only soulmates but true twin flames.
For those reading this post who have never heard of the term twin flame: âA twin flame is your own soul, shared across what appears to be two physical beings. Itâs one soul, split into two bodies.â -Googleâs definition.
For those who are spiritually inclined and have a proclivity for indulging esoteric philosophies; Lena and Kara are ABSOLUTELY twin FUCKING flames đĽđĽđĽ!!
Here are the reasons why:
1. Their drastically different childhoods that resulted in remarkably similar trauma.
Both Kara and Lena have experienced great loss throughout their life. Both mourned the death of their parents, and life as they knew it, at a very early age. Both were shipped off to a foreign land, forced to leave behind everything they knew, in hopes for a brighter/safer future.
Albeit, Lena got the shorter end of the stick in regards to unconditional love, but both were given a second chance and a new start...and yet, they still never fit in, or felt like they truly belonged.
Although they individually have dealt with said trauma in different ways (Lena by pushing away those who try to get too close, and Kara by holding on tightly to those she holds dear) both of their actions are motivated by the same subconscious fear that they HAVE never and WILL never TRULY belong. All while yearning for a sense of âhomeâ.
2. They are opposite reflections of each other; true âmirror soulsâ, if you will.
Physically, aesthetically, economically, and emotionallyâthey are complete âmirrorsâ of one another.
Kara is strong, physically powerful, cut from marble, all hard edges and sharp linesâexcept for her face. Lena is clearly not as physically powerful, she is soft, all curves, and exudes the grace of the Devine feminine energyâexcept for her face, which is hard edges and sharp jaw lines. You see what Iâm saying?
Aesthetically and economically go hand in hand of course. Lenaâs exorbitant wealth is evident in her high-end designer appearance; whereas Karaâs aesthetic is more humble and grounded, and prioritizes comfort over âfashionâ. (Letâs admit it. Some of Karaâs fashion choices have been questionable. She clearly rocks the chinos and button-downs better than anything else in that eclectic closet of hers she refuses to come out of đ)
Emotionally...oh honey. Do I need to say more? I wonât say much but I will say this: Kara is the sun and Lena is the moon. They compliment each other in a way that ensures the world keeps turning.
3. Their individual strengths are the otherâs individual weakness and vice versa.
Goes along with the aforementioned âopposite reflectionâ point above but Iâll expand a bit further in regards to their specific personality traits.
Lena is predominately analytically driven, whereas Kara is emotionally driven. Lena is good in crowds, Kara is not (overwhelmed). Lena is introverted, Kara is extroverted. Lena is detail oriented and has the memory of an elephant, Kara is clumsy and as forgetful as a Pisces (but hey, she has a lot on her plate and barely any free time to balance it). Lena eats like a rabbit-bird-hybrid and Kara eats like a garbage disposal. Kara loves giving and receiving hugs and other forms of physical affection whereas Lena does not (UNLESS itâs from Kara, of course). Etc. Etc. you get the picture.
4. Now this one is the DEAD GIVEAWAY. Undeniable, irrefutable PROOF that Lena and Kara are twin flames.
They are LITERALLY completing what is know as the Twin Flame Journey or the Twin Flame Union.
The stages of Twin Flame Union are roughly as follows:
1. Yearning for âthe oneâ. I think every human being that believes in love experiences this whether itâs throughout their entire life, or only their adult life until they meet this person but yeah. You get it. Kara has always wanted that âWapow!â moment.
2. Glimpsing/meeting âthe oneâ. Whether itâs only for a short moment, an extended meeting, or perhaps merely locking eyes with them as you pass each other by...you feel immediately connected. There is an instant soul recognition when meeting them, so much so that you could have sworn youâve met them before or that itâs as if youâve known each other your whole lives.
Remember when Kara met Lena? And she was gaga-eyed over Lena? Or when Lena felt so comfortable around a new acquaintance that she granted an almost stranger unbridled access to her office? Or how about when Red Daughter flew to America (the country she was taught to hate), with no recollection/memories of Karaâs relationship with Lena (again, the woman she was taught to hate), all because she felt PULLED to do so. And then when she did meet Lena she looked at her and practically drooled over her as if Lena was a double XL cheeseburger with extra special sauce from Big Belly Burger? Like, biiiitch đ
3. Falling in love. Need I say more? Fine, again, I will. You CANNOT tell me that there is no way in hell that these two morons are anything BUT in love with each other. Thatâs a lot of double negatives and I appplogize so let me reiterate for clarification: THEY ARE IN LOVE AND YOU CANâT CHANGE MY MIND!
And at this point is it so freaking BEYOND platonic love, the show cannot explain it away or sweep it under the âjust close friendsâ rug. No. Kara used her Fifth Dimensional Wish (she literally could have wished her entire planet didnât explode) and she said âmake Lena not mad at me, Iâm sad đâ đ. Mmmkay. Not to mention Lena picking Supergirl over Jack, her former lover. Or the plethora of other times Lena chose Kara/Supergirl over everyone else she knew. Mmkay.
4. The fairytale relationship/friendship. Lena has finally found someone she can depend on, be vulnerable with, support her without judgement, trust with her life etc. and Kara has finally found a true best friend, not her sister, not Kenny who she didnât realize was her best friend till after he passed? And now heâs not dead?? But her one true best friend that she felt she didnât need to be neither Supergirl, nor Kara Danvers, but rather Kara Zor-El around (despite Lena not knowing that little tidbit of information).
They were each otherâs best friend. Each otherâs person. They were happy.
5. Outer Turmoil and Inner PurgingâSupergirl and Lena fight. Lena still does not know that Kara is indeed Supergirl and does not pick up on the brewing tension between herself and Kara.
Kara of course is riddled with guilt and her relationship with Lena becomes strained. This outer turmoil creates inner purging by bringing out negative traits in each other. I.E. Lena hiding kryptonite and also Kara asking James to spy on her. Shit gets messy but they still try to make it work.
6. The Runner and the Chaser/Separation StageâTensions mount between the two and Lena FINALLY learns about Karaâs secret. And she has a choice to make. So what does she do? She runs. Not physically but emotionally. She completely withdraws from not only Kara and their friends but also withdraws from herself.
She literally experiences cognitive dissonance and becomes someone she is not. Someone other people made her believe she was on the inside, even though Kara knows that it isnât. And so, Kara chases her.
Lena becomes the runner and Kara becomes the chaser as they navigate this separation stage.
Continuously running and continuously chasing.
7. The Surrender and dissolution stageâtheyâre fucking done. Theyâre tired. Theyâre exhausted physically, mentally, and emotionally after all the bullshit they put each other through as well as all the bullshit Lex and the Phantom Zone put them through.
They come to an impasse in regards to Lex and realize the only way to defeat him is to work together, as a team. (El Mayarah anyone?)
They surrender to their emotions and to each other as their egos dissolve and their souls expand after having learned invaluable life lessons. The major one being: THEY CANNOT LIVE HAPPILY WITHOUT EACH OTHER!
8. The last stage that we have yet to see but we fucking better or else Iâm gonna January 6 the CW studio buildingââOnenessâ.
This time, Iâm not gonna say more.
So, in conclusion: Supercorp is Endgame because Lena Luthor and Kara Zor-El Danvers are the literal definition of a twin flame, soulmate connection. They are the same soul, manifested in two physical forms, for the sole purpose of expanding their soulâs consciousness.
They deserve to be happy, they deserve to be together. Not only does their union parallel some of the greatest love stories throughout history, i.e. Romeo and Juliet, Darcy and Bennet, Superman and Lois (duh) it would also break the curse of generational karma and illustrate to anybody who watches the show that the only person who defines who you are is YOU. Not a name, not a legacy, not societyâs expectations, YOU. And most importantly of ALL...it would showcase that love truly does conquer all.
I rest my case.
TPTB, make Supercorp Endgame or kick rocks âď¸đ
Sincerely,
An empassioned fan with way too much time on her hands.

Female characters in retro shojo [70s edition, part 1]
Ah, the 1970s (and early 80s), where a majority of the shojo manga stories took place in a distant European country or in America, surrounding either orphan girls from the 19th or early 20th century, who remain cheerful and have adventures, trying to find out who they are, making friends and falling in love, or epic historical stories filled with war, scandals and larger than life characters. If the manga was taking place in Japan, the plot was somehow more down to earth -though most of the time it restrained the same amount of unrealism- and it was either about following the journey of a girl who pursues the career of her dreams and evolves into a notable person, or a high school story filled either with melodrama and angst or a more heartwarming romantic comedy. But in this two-part article I wonât talk about plot tropes of the shojo manga of that era -as this topic deserves an exclusive article-, but about the female characters (I will dedicate an article on male characters some other time). Those characters are very important, as they set the standards of todayâs manga and anime. But it should be noted that back then the formula of their design and characteristics are different from todayâs. Those are the categories that Iâve noticed, regarding the appearance and personality.
The âaverageâ protagonists
They are the most common category. Usually, they come from middle class and they are presented either as cheerful and a little dense schoolgirls, or plain looking and unrefined, as oppose to their antagonists or rivals who are well educated, beautiful and more talented, but this may serve as a determination for them to improve. Other times they are presented as headstrong heroines, ahead of their time, who refuse to compromise and for this they are a pain to their old-fashion society. Either way, they are kind, good, well-intentioned and want to help the others, thatâs why they make friends easily. The thing that really works with these characters and makes them much more interesting than they may seem, is that they are independent and built their future on their own and they never give up, no matter what happens and what someone might say about them. Even when they are not sure of themselves, they always keep trying, until they reach to their dream. They use their obstacles as strength and determination to go on, proving that they are not average at all.
Maya, the protagonist of âGlass Maskâ is a great example of this. She starts as a good-for-nothing daughter of a poor family, who isnât particularly accomplished, but has a hidden passion for acting which she hadnât realise it herself at that point. But when she is discovered by Tsukigake, a former legendary actress, she realises how much she wants to be an actress to a point that she lied saying that her mother allowed her to study to senseiâs acting school and ran away from home. Not even when her mother told her that she doesnât consider her as her daughter anymore, she didnât gave up, in spite of being very hurt by this. Her path towards acting wasnât easy. Many times she has to face many who say that she doesnât belong to that industry, or who are jealous of her talent and means her harm, but with her faith in herself, she always overcomes those obstacles. An admirable thing about her is that she dislikes fame, being shy, as she just wants to act and that she does not gives up, no matter what and even when she does, she quickly stands up. The most interesting dynamic of the story is her worthy rivalry with Ayumi, that is clearly a case of the trope âtechnician vs performerâ, with Maya as the performer, as her standard method to learn how to play a character is to become that character. As the story progresses, Maya evolves from a girl with a hidden talent, to a young actress who portraits an original take to classic characters, but who still had much to learn, to one of the greatest actresses of her generation.
In âYokohama Monogatariâ, Uno starts as a plain, poor, orphan girl, who is ignorant about the world, as she hasnât even seen the sea before and she believed that westerners were vampires who could drink peopleâs blood, thatâs why they had blonde hair and blue eyes. She starts to work as a companion in a rich family to their daughter Mariko, who is the same age as her. Besides their differences, they become quickly best friends. While Mariko is a little spoiled, Uno, despite of her ignorance of world, can be more considerate and responsible in some matters. She also has a lust for learning and soon her and Mariko pursuade her family to go to school. There, she meets many people, among them there are a few foreigners too, she makes a lot of friends, and she excels at all of her studies, being hardworking. As the years passed by, Japan changes and allows exchange of ideas from many cultures -itâs Meiji era we are taking about, that means the last quarter of the 19th century- and Uno evolves from a poor, -many would say- hopeless for her situation, clueless of the world girl, to an open minded, educated and refined woman, surrounded by many people she loves.
In âTokimeki Tonightâ, Ranze -well except of being the daughter of Dracula and warewolf and having her own vampire powers as well- is an average girl who is friendly, sweet and little quirky girl who goes to school and falls in love with Shuun. Some may say that she is pretty basic, but in fact, she knows her self worth well, so even when her parents were disappointed with her not having any power yet, at the beginning of the story, she wasnât particularly bothered by it. Also she is very headstrong that she falls in love with a human boy, while she knows well that a creature from the demon world and a human cannot be together. But in spite of all of that, she decides to stay true to her own feelings and even though sheâs not so sure about Shuunâs feelings for her either, she doesnât give up and waits for him, because she hopes and deep down knows that he likes her too and she is right. And even when her parents want her to marry prince Aaron of the demon world and even the king- learn that she likes a human, in spite of that being against the rules, she isnât afraid to stand up for her beliefs. Later though, we learn that Shuun is the lost prince of the demon world, so he is not a human after all, but thatâs another story.
In âAim For The Aceâ, Hiromi is a typical schoolgirl who struggles to get better in tennis, when she gets selected as one of the clubâs main players in school by the new coach, as he saw potential in her. Some of her seniors are jealous of her because of that and at first she thinks that she is not worth such a discrimination, but soon she improves and realises how much she loves tennis. Thereâs also a very similar rivalry dynamic with âglass maskâ between Hiromi and Reika who grow to be worthy opponents.
In âHaikara San Ga Toruâ, Benio is a headstrong young woman who studies Kendo, drinks sake and prefers reading literature and feminist ideas, rather than being interested in housework. She also likes to dress in western clothes, rather than the traditional kimono and strongly believes that women should have the right to decide for their future on their own and they should marry for love. But her world turns upside down when her father announces that he has arranged a marriage for her. The one that he indends for her is someone she knew before, very briefly and accidentally, a lieutenant named Shinobu. Of course, she refuses, being loyal to her ideals and she goes out of her way to avoid him, just to satisfy her pride, in spite of actually starting developing feelings for him. When she moves to his grandparentsâ house to get prepared as his wife, she purposely fails in all of her duties as a housewife and constantly argues with his grandparents, but all of that only makes Shinobu fall for her even more. Itâs only when he leaves to go to the war, when she realises her feelings for him and during at that time when everyone thought that he was dead, she matured and became even stronger, remaining loyal to him and determined to work as a journalist to support his family, but also tracking him down, hoping that heâs still alive. Of course, at the very end, they live happily ever after together. Benioâs character development is admirable; starting as a clever, but headstrong girl, to an independent and wise woman, proving that you donât have to disagree with everyone in order to prove that you are the one who chooses how to live your own life.
The villains
Their extreme pride and vain is their common nature. Most of the times they come from a wealthy family, so they are either oujo-sans who are always dressed elegantly, are seemingly refined and they tend to have curly, blonde hair -as blonde hair seem to be associated with wealth and sophistication in Japan-, or they are just spoiled brats that demand that everyone will do as they say. They are the main antagonist of the story for different reasons. The most common one is that they are jealous of the heroine, either because they are their love rivals and they are jealous of the heroineâs relationship with the love interest of the story, or because they are just pathologically jealous of the heroine because of her looks, her happiness, her luck and her loving nature. Another reason they act the way they do is because they want power and success, or they just want to secure all of that. The worse and least complex reason of all is that they are just mean for no particular reason.
Eliza, from âCandy Candyâ is the typical alpha b*tch who is pathologically jealous of Candy. At first, she along with her brother, makes her life miserable, by blaming her for the bad things they do, such as hurting the horses in the stables, provoking her and then telling to their mother that sheâs wild and leaving her alone in a town she doesnât know and locking her in dark rooms. After that, during their time in London, Eliza says to everyone that Candy is an orphan who made her life miserable, even blaming her for Antonyâs death. Later, having the habit of falling in love with the one that Candy likes too, school, she falls for Terry and constantly tries to turn him against her, failing miserably. She also writes a fake letter to her that it was supposedly from Terry and to Terry too, to meet each other in the stables at night and with this, she blabs them to the teachers and Candy, having no choice, leaves school. Later, when Candy was pursuing a career as a nurse, she continues her cruel ways and her mother also threats the director of the hospital where she was working, that if they wonât fire her, the Leagan family will withdraw their funds for the hospital and she also made sure that no hospital from Chicago will hire her, leaving Candy in a difficult situation. Those are only of few of the things that Leagan family did to Candy. The worst part is that they donât pay for what they did at the end.
Fukiko from âOniisama eâ fits well this image; She is a refined lady from a rich family, the president of the sorority and very educated, thatâs why she is admired by everyone. However, in reality she is manipulative, proud and very possessive. She wants to control everyone and sheâs even willing to go out of her way to achieve what she wants. For instanse, sheâs jealous of Nanako because she is close to Henmi Takehito, the one that she (Fukiko) is in love with, so to control her, she chooses her to be a member of the sorority and demands that she will stay away from him, even by pulling her into the lake and attempt to drown her . She also makes Reiâs life miserable, by stepping into her weakness, refuse to accept her as a member of their family and constantly manipulating her with the cruelest of ways. Also, itâs revealed that her friends from the sorority are feeling pressured because of her. Later, with the death of Rei, along with her realisation that Henmi and Kaoru No Kimi are truly in love, surprisingly, she regrets, gives up on her cruel ways and matures, growing even more beautiful for all of that.
Yoko from âTokimeki Tonightâ is a different case. She is the love rival of the story and the have loved Shuun ever since they were little. Being the only daughter of a rich businessman, she is spoiled and when something doesnât go as she wants, she is is angry and demands that everything will go the way she wants. She envies Ranze for her close relationship with Makabe and ever since she accidentally saw her transforming, she tried desperately to prove others that she (Ranze) is a vampire. Her character is less dramatic and more comedic, as she is often grumpy and clumsy. But she isnât really a bad person and she doesnât really cause an awful lot of trouble.
In âThe Rose of Versaillesâ, Madam Du Barry, the kingâs mistress, wants to sustain her place in the court and demands that Marie Antoinette, who was at that time the dauphine, will speak to her. She also have tried to poison one of the court ladies. Countess De polignag becomes the queenâs best friend, for her own benefits and manipulates her without her (Marie Antoinette) knowing, like telling her to lie about being pregnant and also persuade her to start gambling in the court, which was illegal. Sheâs also Rosalieâs biological mother and accidentally kills the woman which raised her daughter and sheâs the reason that her other daughter suicides, because she cannot handle the marriage the she arranged for her. Besides of her daughterâs death, she doesnât seem to regret for any of her actions as she tries to make Rosalie merry the same man. Luckily Rosalie escapes. Also, she tried to sabotage Oscar many times and all this was just for the sake of power and money.
In âGlass Maskâ, Norie Otobe, befriends Maya and she is supposedly her assistant, but in reality she just waits for the right moment to strike and steal Mayaâs role and career. Unfortunately, she succeeds and it costs a lot for Maya, for a while. Luckily Ayumi discovers this and punishes her with the best way ever.
The tomboys
They are either mysterious, or lively, but one thing is for sure; they are dressed in clothes that are considered to be âmanlyâ, they are handsome and they are constantly mistaken for a boy. They are also very elegant and educated and their image is that of a prince. Thatâs why they are admired by both women and men. Some may say that even though they are trying to be like a man, they are still weak, but they point out that just because they dress more âtomboyishâ, doesnât mean that it makes them less of a woman. After all, when they want to, they can transform into the most feminine girl of all. They also prove that their sexuality is not associated with their looks, as a âmasculineâ girl has the same possibilities of being heterosexual or homosexual, with a more âfeminineâ one. So, they break all the stereotypes regarding women. Many times, they are portrayed as headstrong heroines who stand up for their beliefs and their friends.
The most famous character that supports this image is Oscar from âthe Rose of Versaillesâ. Oscar is one of the daughters of the Jerjeyes household. Not having any son, her father decided to raise her as a boy so that one day she will succeed him. Oscar dresses in boysâ clothes and learns activities like fencing and archery. When she was fourteen, she was tasked to serve as Marie Antoinetteâs bodyguard. The manga often pointed out how different those two were regarding appearance and character, even if they were in the same age. Oscar has a strong sense of justice and she always protects the weak and is not afraid to challenge someone that she believes that isnât right. Of course, she is admired by men and women alike and she is also a great and loyal friend. At one point she falls in love with Fersen, who loves Marie Antoinette. But because of her respect for the queen and her love of Fersen, she helps them, despite being heartbroken. At the end, she realises that she loves her childhood friend, Andre. She loves medieval combat, drinking heavy drinks, talking about politics and playing violin. Many pointed out that being a woman she was weaker but she always proved them wrong, pointing out that women can do anything and that it doesnât matter if you are a man or a woman, only how skilful you are. She was hiding her femininity not because she wanted to be a man, but because that if she acted like a woman, the society might think that she was weak and she wouldnât be able to have the access and the freedom to do what women normally wouldnât do back then, because women were alowed to limited things. In the early 1970s, by the time this manga was ongoing, the second wave of feminism had already started and women started fighting for equal legal and social rights, so Oscarâs character was influenced by all this.
Rei from âOniisama eâ, is admired by her fellow classmates and is also called âsaint Justeâ, named after one of the leaders from French Revolution, due to her physical resemblance to him. She is very charismatic, excelling to sports, piano, guitar and theatre, she is very elegant and dresses often in a black suit. Unfortunately she is drug-addict, she smokes and can be suicidal, carrying always pills and a sharp object with her. She is also obsessed with Fukiko, the sororityâs president, for many reasons, causing her to be controlled and abused by her. She also lives alone in a depressing house filled with mirrors and this also causes to be depressed. Her best friend is Kaoru no Kimi, whoâs also a tomboy, but they are entirely different and she befriends Nanako and her friends. In the end she suicides, taking too many sleeping pills, having everyone, especially Nanako, left devastated.
Also from âOniisama eâ, Kaoru, is a tomboy who is strong and energetic. She is athletic and excels at basketball, but she is also very cool and doesnât seem to care that she is the best at something that sheâs doing, thatâs why she is admired by her fellow classmates who gave her the nickname âKaoru no Kimiâ, from a Japanese classical novel; âthe tale of Genjiâ. She also has a great sense of justice, as when she sees classmates being bullied, she defends them and put the bullies on their place. She is also very loyal and supportive and cares deeply about her friends, helping them when they are in need, especially her best friend, Rei, for whom she is very concerned. But in spite of her energetic appearance, she suffers from breast cancer and tries to keep it a secret, pretending that she is healthy and that everything is under control. But in fact, she pushes away her beloved, Henmi Takehito, concealing her true feelings, in order for him to be happy without her and not suffer anymore, showing how selfless she is and how much she loves him to a point of sacrificing her own feelings. At the end, it pays off and they end up together, living happily.
Another honourable mention is Rei, from âGlass Maskâ. Rei is the older student of Tsukikage senseiâs company and one of Mayaâs best friends. She is a tomboy who wears those characteristic 70s jeans and for some reason is mistaken by a boy -much to her dislike-, despite of being obvious that she is a girl. Being an actress, she can transform into a beautiful princess in no time, but she also portraits very well a prince. In the first volumes, she portrayed Jo, from âlittle womenâ which was a role very suited for her. As a sister figure for Maya, she is loyal, friendly and the responsible one who helps the theatre company stay organised and is a very strict teacher to Maya, helping her because she knows her potential. Also from âGlass Maskâ, Keiko from the âIkkakuju groupâ is also mistaken as boy, but she can transform into a pretty princess in no time.
Note: At the first half of the 20th century âLittle Womenâ were very popular in Japan, particularly Jo, who was tomboyish and outspoken and her character had inspired the first female mangakas of the 60s for their stories and characters.

The Greatest Gift of All
youtube
(Inspired by^ for the people who asked :D hope it was worth the wait!)
*
Long before the war, before Captain America or the Winter Soldier, there was simply Bucky and Steve. At least, that's what history says. But they missed out one very important person, a girl called Y/N.
Women in those times often found themselves with little opportunity, and only two easily attainable pathways in life: wife and mother. But Y/N carved out a life for herself that defied all expectations, and it all started in Brooklyn.
She dived headlong into scuffles, usually next to Bucky in defence of Steve. Regardless of the opponent, Y/N stood by them both, and often held her own quite impressively.
Her dress style borrowed from more masculine cuts, and Y/N was never seen without her cap. A lot of people had a problem with this, but she shut them up fairly swiftly.
Everything about this girl drew Bucky in, a battle he fought with little effort. They reveled in each other, flaunting their love at every opportunity. More than a few were jealous that the rough and tumble girl got the best looking boy in town.Â
In a way, before even coming of age, they started an adult life together. The three of them moved into a flat. Y/N and Bucky took hard labour jobs, or anything they could get. They had little room to be picky.Â
Both managed to hook steady summer jobs at the local docks. They used most of their money to keep a roof over their heads, buy food, and pay for Steve's medical needs. He attended art school, and sold his work every now and then; but physically, he was in no condition to work.
The war appeared on the horizon, just as they started to pull themselves an inch above the poverty line. Y/N saw it coming, the inevitable. She treasured every second they spent together, and dreaded the day when the draft came.
A lot of the older women she worked with were disrespectful, looking down on her pre-marital relationship with Bucky. They claimed she couldn't possibly understand their grief, despite the fact Y/N had seen Bucky off at the docks that very morning.Â
In truth, they already planned on being married, but at the time, they simply didn't have the funds. Bucky promised, once the war ended, that ring would be on her finger.
Except, he never came home. Not properly. The person Hydra gave back to Y/N was damaged and jaded, angry at the world, angrier than she ever saw. But still, they loved each other. Though she never forgave them for stealing away his innocence, for trying to snuff out the light in his soul. A part of him would always belong to them, and she hated it.
Refusing to stay home while they risked their lives, never knowing, Y/N trained as an army nurse, working specially with the Howling Commandos unit.
Then one day, she went out to welcome them back from a mission. Every face looked devastated, but none more so than Steve. His eyes, red-raw and streaming, seemed incapable of rising from the ground. At first, the realisation didn't process, the idea simply incomprehensible. He promised.
Dugan was the one to finally break through and catch Y/N as she fell, holding her as the tears poured. Once he shook off his daze, Steve took his place, sharing in her grief.
Her world fell apart so quickly, with no warning and no mercy. Their commanders celebrated the capture of Arnim Zola, while Y/N and Steve sat, staring at an empty place at their side.
Everyone mourned Bucky, and swiftly after, began to mourn Y/N, too. The loss took a part of her...the sparkle, the happiness, the laugh that lit up her face. It all vanished. She worked hard, looked after them all, but only Steve was able to make her smile. Even then, it looked pained.
So when Steve went down with the plane, the very last shred of Y/N died with him. No tears left her eyes, no screams ripped up her throat. A cold numbness took over, freezing the woman from the inside out.Â
V-Day came and went. The Commandos stood and drank to their lost comrades, and Dugan silently drank another...for the loss of a bright, fiery girl who had virtually nothing to lose, and still lost everything.
She spent her days as a robot, doing nothing but going through the motions of badly imitating life. The flat was empty and quiet, yet somehow, bursting with the ghosts of her loved ones. Nightmares plagued her, terrible images of Bucky's body, forever trapped in a freezing hell, nothing but food for the birds. And Steve, his body...was it cast adrift in the ocean? Or destroyed, burnt to ash in the belly of a metal beast.Â
They were simple folk before the war turned them into soldiers, into weapons. Before symbols and flags stole away their names, driving them to sacrifice their lives for a greater cause.
Y/N knew their fight against Hydra was important...knew the honour behind their sacrifice. But when it's you left sitting at an empty dinner table, it's much easier to be angry and bitter.
She never married, never settled, bouncing around countries working as an army nurse. The Commandos slowly died around her, each one fading to grey as the curtain drew the show to a close. Each death, each funeral ripped open her wounds, bigger and deeper each time. Until eventually, Y/N let the blood flow freely.
Or at least, that's what would have happened. But one choice, one decision, made by a boy she thought dead in the far future, changed it all.

Bucky Barnes struggled to find himself again. His memories were mostly all returned, if a bit hazy and fragmented. He had Steve there to right any wrong recollections, and connect with on their shared experiences. But something always seemed to be missing, a piece of the jigsaw that hadn't been found.
He remembered Y/N. He remembered her clearer than anything. She was glowing like honey in the sun when Bucky closed his eyes and brought her back to mind.
Face covered in muck, hair tousled and streaked with grease from the boats, soot on the very tip of her nose and a cap perched jauntily on her head; wearing the deepest expression of concentration as she aimed a hanful of rotten fish guts at the sleezy Connell boy from Fifth, who decided his opinion on her backside mattered. The image shone crystal clear. Her laughter, rolling out from between curved lips, beautiful and full of mischief.Â
It never failed to make him smile. Or cry. Or sometimes, both. He missed Y/N than he thought possible for a human being.Â
Bucky often wondered about her life, whether she went on to marry, or maybe even have children. Was she happy? Did she bury him and move on? If they met today, would Y/N even recognise the man he was now?Â
More importantly, in his mind, something he both feared and longed to know: would she still love him?
Unbeknownst to Bucky, Steve saw all this. Understood, to a degree, his pain. But he and Peggy never got the chance to bond so strongly. He knew Bucky needed him, but Steve also knew he needed Y/N more.
So once his goodbyes were said, he looked one last time at Bucky, and smiled beneath his suit as he vanished into time.
*
The living room looked exactly the same as he remembered. Bucky's coat, slung over the back of the chair, his sketchbooks strewn around the desk. Every rip and chip. His heart swelled with nostalgia, and pain, thinking of the life they were supposed to have.
What must have been in their heads...running off to fight, so eager to throw everything away. And who was left to stare at empty beds and eat breakfast alone every morning? Y/N.
His chest constricted, hearing the keys in the door, the lock rattling three times before letting her in. His nerve faltered for the briefest second, wondering if he was ready to see her again.
"Who the hell are you?!"
Time's up.
Slowly, he turned, and watched as Y/N's eyes widened, all the bags in her hands falling to the floor with a crash.
"...Stevie?" The name came out as a whisper, nearly inaudible.
He grinned, laughing as tears stung his eyes. "Hey, spitfire. Long time no see."
"Steve!" She launched herself at him, arms wrapping around his neck and clinging on for dear life.Â
Catching her by the waist, he swung Y/N around, burying his face in her hair. They held onto one another as if they might vanish if they let go. But after a minute, Steve gently pushed her back.
"How? How are you here? What are you wearing? I don't understand, Steve, they said you died! Your plane went down in the ocean," she stammered, hand on his forearm with a grip like a vice.
"I survived. The serum kept me alive in the ice for seventy years," he said, questioning his own sanity momentarily; standing in the flat again made everything that happened seem like a distant dream.
Y/N frowned, brows knitting together. "What? Did you hit your head? Steve, this is 1945."
"I know, I came from 2023. I'm alive," he said, and saw her mentally backing away, so added, "I'm alive, and so is Bucky."
Her head snapped up, eyes immediately filling with tears. A dozen emotions whizzed through them in a second; disbelief, pain, hope. It shone clearly in her face as she stepped closer.
What did you say?" She asked, voice choked as she brought her shaking hands up to her mouth.
"Bucky's alive," he repeated softly, "and I can send you to him, in the future. But we don't have a lot of time. You need to listen to me, carefully, and do what I say."
She spluttered, struggling for words. "I, but...what about you?"
"I've made my decision," Steve said, and gently took her hands in his, "now, please, listen."

Bucky watched the machine, feeling a wave of numbness wash over his insides. Nothing was a better deal than the pain, the cruel sting of betrayal fighting to be felt. But he beat it back, unable to allow those thoughts validation.
Steve gave up so much for him, he fought for years to get him here. Steve deserved this. And no matter how wrong those words sounded in his head, he resolutely stood by them.Â
The seconds ticked by, noted by Bruce's countdown. A flash of guilt almost made Bucky explain what was going to happen, explain that Steve left them. Left him. But he possessed no energy to speak, they'd see in a second, when no one appeared-
Zap. A blinding flash of light.
There's someone there.
Bucky frowned, hands falling from his pockets. Did Steve change his mind? Did he...
All the thoughts in his head stopped as the figure stepped down. Too small, too lithe for it to be Steve. Bucky's heart rate quickened, something in his unconscious already registering his recognition.Â
The suit fell away, and if he weren't frozen in place, Bucky wouldn't have been standing. A quiver shot through him, nearly buckling his knees. Shock, fear and pure disbelief all delayed his reaction.
Y/N looked around, amazed, but turned to stone as she set eyes on him. Her face went utterly blank, a strangled sound leaving her lips.
Wearing her yard slacks, with a small bag on her shoulder, her face covered in dirt, hair streaked with grease, cap perched on-top, slanted to one side...she was everything he remembered, and his heart tried to leave his chest to go to her. To be whole again.
But fear held him back. She didn't know the things he'd done, the person he became after the train accident. What if-
"Who is she?" Sam asked, glaring as he stalked towards her, an accusation rising on his lips.
Bucky answered without hesitation, or thinking; the question had been asked countless times over the years. It always recieved the same reply. "My doll."
Sam stopped short, glancing between them, the way neither took their eyes off the other. He nodded, brows still closely knit, and backed off.
Slowly, Y/N approached, encouraged by the sound of his voice. She reached out carefully, when she got close enough. Trembling fingers brushed his cheek, and a shudder ran through her.Â
"My Bucky..." She said quietly, eyes roaming over his face, a small smile tugging at her lips, "...you're here, in front of me. Alive."
He swallowed dryly, heart thundering away beneath his skin. "I'm different...you don't know..."
No sooner had the words left his mouth that her eyes found the cold metal where his flesh used to be. In reaching to hold it, she'd been taken by surprise.
Gently, Y/N took the hand in her own, examing the limb with a careful gaze. Moments passed, and she met his eyes again. Bucky steeled himself for rejection, for the disgust and horror.
Her hand went back to his cheek, and he involuntairly leaned into it. The warmth seeped into his blood. She stood on her tip toes, the smile on her lips blossoming into a bright beam of sunlight. "You've always been my Bucky, and always will be. Metal appendages and all."
He fell apart and dove down to capture her lips, clutching her to him with the hunger of a starving man. She pulled herself in, hands tangling in his brown locks, and both tasted salt on the others' lips.
So filled with joy his heart could burst, Bucky revelled in the feeling of holding his girl again. Laughing through the tears, he buried his face in her neck.
Thank you, Steve, for the greatest gift of all.
