I attended a Sunday School class where the topic of discussion was Dieter F. Uchtdorf's October 2017 Conference address "Yearning for Home". The following stood out to me: "The Savior extends His hand to you. And, as He did to those fishermen who stood long ago on the banks of the Sea of Galilee, with infinite love He speaks to you: 'Come, follow me.' ...Since the beginning of time, God’s prophets have urged the people of their day to 'hearken unto the voice of the Lord thy God, … keep his commandments and his statutes … , [and] turn unto [Him] with all thine heart, and with all thy soul.'"

"The scriptures teach us a thousand reasons why we should do this. Today, let me offer two reasons why we should turn to the Lord. First, your life will be better. Second, God will use you to make the lives of others better."

Those are very nice promises. I love that these sentiments focus on the Lord and discipleship rather than the church. I believe as we draw in and draw closer to Light and Goodness, we can change ourselves and the world around us. I love the core messages, the chief commandments and statutes, of the Gospel. To love God and our neighbor, to minister and serve, by both word and action, those in need. I love some of our unique doctrine as a church. I love our belief in both a Heavenly Father and Heavenly Mother who love each of us and want us to succeed. I love the companion doctrine that eternal exaltation is the birthright of each of us, that every single one of us is glorious and eternally unique and of infinite worth. Priceless. Precious. We are fallen, but also capable of redemption and perfection.

And if we could al hold that in our hearts, then the world would be a very different place, immediately and forever.

Don't you think that the VIP tables in fine dining establishments should be, ideally, every table or better yet, be the table with the people who saved for years to experience a fine dining meal with all the bells and whistles. Why are they limited to the rich and famous people who can be treated like this daily? I just don't understand that. To me, if I had a restaurant, every table would be considered a VIP table, but I'd pay special attention to those diners who are experiencing something as wonderful as this for the first and maybe last time so I could give them a story they could tell for the rest of their lives. You know what I love about Tumblr it's that we are one of the three posting website's but undoubtedly the most silly of the three we are the kids at a party playing the made up board game other then treads who are playing on their phones bragging about how cool they are (I think) and Twitter who are talking about adult thingys. And we don't brag about who's the coolest or oldest and just be ourselfs and except each other.

My biggest tip for fanfic writers is this: if you get a character's mannerisms and speech pattern down, you can make them do pretty much whatever you want and it'll feel in character.

Logic: Characters, just like real people, are mallable. There is typically very little that's so truly, heinously out of character that you absolutely cannot make it work under any circumstance. In addition, most fans are also willing to accept characterization stretches if it makes the fic work. Yeah, we all know the villain and the hero wouldn't cuddle for warmth in canon. But if they did do that, how would they do it?

What counts is often not so much 'would the character do this?' and more 'if the character did do this, how would they do it?' If you get 'how' part right, your readers will probably be willing to buy the rest, because it will still feel like their favourite character. But if it doesn't feel like the character anymore, why are they even reading the fic?

Worry less about whether a character would do something, and more about how they'd sound while doing it.

(yes she gets Slashered soon afterward, but so does the boyfriend so honestly, gender equality.) yes the Final Girl is the only one not having sex, but she's not bullied for that, nor are her friends slut shamed except possibly by being murdered by the narrative

actually the only character who is shown being morally condemned on-screen is michael myers. specifically FOR his violent overreaction to other people's sex lives. (people he is spying on). metaphorically, the villain is American Puritanism sticking its judgy nose into other people's business.
