It was Maid Day today yesterday a week ago so I got struck by inspiration to draw the worsties, and it ran away from me into a whole AU where they’re coworkers at a maid cafe. She’s a med student & this is just a part time job, and this is his depression job while he gets his life back together. He needs something he can be workaholic about to forget what it’s like having a personal life and personal issues. He’s actually the accountant, but the new hire janitor (Izutsumi) doesn’t show up for half her shifts and is a sloppy worker, so he gets the extra work of doing her job on top of his because he’s undervalued and overworked. Of course, janitors also have an uniform to keep the aesthetic cohesion as they go about cleaning the place, of course.

Senshi’s the part time cook you only see slivers off, he’s kind and warm when you do see him and have a chat but most shifts he’s in and out the kitchen without a trace. Laios and Falin are regulars because Falin and Marcille are besties & in the same med school, Laios accompanies Falin as she visits her friend at work and gets hooked on the food. Chilchuck has to remind Marcille to work instead of chatting with Falin for an hour, and next thing he knows she’s distracting him from work too. That’s it that’s the AU. Inspired by this idol AU fanart a bit <3

anyway john's case numbering system sucks so i made a new one, not really that good but it acts better as a call number system. In real life there would be albums and catalogue numbers but thank god the magnus institute archive does NOT exist so that's not an issue

Republican Rep. Andy Ogles of Tennessee was already one of Congress’ more controversial members when things took a torn for the worse in the fall of 2023.

WTVF, the CBS affiliate in Nashville, reported that the congressman’s finance reports showed he had made a $320,000 personal loan to his campaign. That might not have been especially problematic — candidates often make these kinds of loans — were it not for the fact that Ogles’ financial disclosures suggested he didn’t have $320,000.

Months later, the GOP lawmaker effectively conceded that his earlier claims weren’t true — he said he’d actually loaned his campaign $20,000, not $320,000 — though it remained an open question from whom Ogles received the rest of the money.

I think about The Seige of AR-558 all the time. It's probably one of my absolute favourite ds9 episodes (along with In Purgatory's Shadow and By Inferno's Light which can not be topped) that one part where Julian is treating the wounds of one of the star fleet officers who've been essentially abandoned in this war zone and the officer is clearly so deeply traumatised by his experiences there is one of the most poignant moments in the entire show to me. The dialogue is so good and it really reminds you that this is an actual war theyre having, not just some flashy space battle where the good guys win and then everything is fine- it's had lasting impacts on these people who star fleet is meant to protect but really they send out a group of officers to a planet and then leave them there for months longer than they were supposed to be and so utterly do not care about these people because they see them as disposable. Even after Sisko and the ds9 crew realised how awful the conditions were everyone was expected to stay there - a position too important to the federation for them to let these people go home but not important enough for them to send backup or replacement officers (I though Quarks presence in the episode was really good as well for providing a perspective of someone not in StarFleet and a lot of the things he said about human nature and the actions of the federation really reflected how I was feeling about it as well haha)

Also the music was really good

Been thinking a lot of Loustat thoughts today so here's a snippet from a Practical Ethics spin off oneshot I've been planning for a while

Lestat’s eyes pass over the Keurig machine a little disdainfully.

“No, thank you,” he answers. “How you can drink that swill is beyond me.”

“It’s easy and it’s quiet,” Louis shrugs. “Not everything has to be so… extravagant, the way you like it.”

“There is nothing extravagant about freshly ground coffee beans, mon cher,” Lestat argues. “And it is more environmentally friendly.”

“At least I’m not taking a life every time I want a meal,” Louis defends himself, stabbing his fork in the direction of Lestat’s leftover coq au vin.

“Oh yes, for every ten sea turtles he chokes, he saves one chicken,” Lestat shoots back, rolling his eyes at Louis’ hypocrisy. “Louis de Pointe du Lac, the vegan saint of San Francisco.”

The look Louis gives him in return is supremely unimpressed.

Can I be like. A personal assistant for someone who still gives a shit about masking? I can do that. I can copy and file and shred for you. I can figure out the scanner. I can even make the occasional delivery, provided that is not my main job.

I did it with dad, and I know that's nepotism, but honestly that's the most surefire way to get a job. I wasn't terrible at it and I got to choose my own schedule. I'm an adult now and I know more.

Working with paper and documents and machines is relaxing, it's the people I'm concerned about. If someone cares even halfway about things like deadly fucking viruses, I can definitely do that. Some things are difficult because of ADHD, but they're going to be difficult whether I'm working or not.

Surely there's someone who pays well and actively wants someone who takes covid precautions. pls. I'm strugglin here

i haven't been able to read the full article yet, but i have been wondering if they included details about his son in hopes that that would make it harder for either of his parents to just quietly win custody and move on with no public outry about his safety.

but. yeah. either way i hate that that kid is going to grow up knowing his childhood abuse was publicized. horrifying.

Yeah, I know they must have worked with a legal team to get it published in the first place and you can tell the goal was to impart severity rather than be titillating, but also no matter how much it reads like a police report it's hard for me to weigh that intent against a kid's name* now being a basic Google search and one click away from extremely explicit documentation of their abuse in the format of a magazine cover story, like, forever.

*re: being confident there was a legal team they're careful not to name him, which, again, appreciated! but his name is public knowledge
