#Ethical concerns of surrogacy

Surrogacy has been used as a means of acquiring a child for the sole purpose of sexual abuse.
A gay couple adopted a child by paying $8000 to a surrogate. The abuse began shortly after the child's birth and over the course of six years the couple travelled the world and offered the child up for sex with at least 8 men. This sexual abuse was recorded and the footage was uploaded to the Boy Lovers Network (pedophile syndicate). When the police began investigating the abuse, the couple claimed they were being targeted because they are homosexual.

The poll
I don't think it's just that; I think more and more people are realizing that every child deserves a mother and a father and legalizing gay marriage deliberately deprives a kid of one of them. Orphans and children of single parents always long for their missing parents.
While there are unfortunate circumstances like death of a parent or divorcing an abusive spouse that makes it inevitable, ultimately since children are made through the biological union of a man and woman, their spiritual relationship with them should be preserved.
Since we're not just a material being, we're also of both body and soul. Not Cartesian dualism but Hylomorphism where the union of body and soul makes one nature.
The only two ways a gay couple can have a baby is either through surrogacy and/or adoption. Along with its ethical concerns with buying a baby, a gay couple taking a newly born baby from his/her mother is depriving that child with the much needed bonding time with the mother (i.e. breastfeeding, cuddling, etc). It's illegal to sell a puppy within 8 weeks of birth because it would be too cruel to separate it from its mother,* then how much more devastating would it be when it comes to a human child? And a child's need for a mother doesn't stop when he/she no longer needs to be breastfed, the mother is essential for the child's emotional maturity as well.
Here is a video of Ryan T. Anderson back in 2014. I'll highlight some important points but the whole video is really good.
youtube
Marriage exists to unite a man and a woman as husband and wife to then be equipped to be mother and father to any children that that union produces. It's based on the biological fact that men and women are distinct and complementary, it's based on the anthropological truth that reproduction requires a man and a woman, it's based on the social reality that children deserve a mother and a father. ... Marriage is the institution that different cultures and societies, across time and place, developed to maximize the likelihood that that man commits to that woman, and then the two of them take responsibility to raise that child. Part of this is based on the reality: there's no such thing as parenting in the abstract; there's mothering and there's fathering. Men and women bring different gifts to the parenting enterprise. Rutgers sociologist professor David Popenoe writes, "The burden of social science evidence supports the idea that gender differentiating parenting is important for human development and the contribution of fathers to childrearing is unique and irreplaceable." He then concludes, "we should disavow the notion that mommies can make good daddies, just as we should disavow the popular notion that daddies can make good mommies. The two sexes are different to the core and each is necessary, culturally and biologically for the optimal development of a human being." ... The impact of marriage. So why does marriage matter for public policy? Perhaps there's no better way to analyze this than looking to our own president, President Barrack Obama: "We know the statistics that children who grow up without a father are five times more likely to live in poverty and commit crime, nine times more likely to drop out of schools, and 20 times more likely to end up in prison. They're more likely to have behavioral problems or run away from home, or become teenage parents themselves. And the foundation of our community are weaker because of it." ... President Obama sums it up very well: what we've seen in the past 50 years since the War on Poverty began, is that the family has collapsed. At one point in America virtually every child was given the gift of a married mother and father, those numbers right now: it's more than 50% of Hispanics children are born outside of wedlock, more than 70% of African Americans are born outside of wedlock. And the consequences for those children are really serious. The State's interest in marriage is not that it cares about my love life, or your love life, or anyone's love life just for the sake of romance. The State's interest in marriage is ensuring that those kids have fathers who are involved in their lives. ... If the biggest social problem we face right now in the United States is absentee dads, how will we insist that fathers are essential when the law redefines marriage to make fathers optional? ... Think about the social consequences if that's the direction the slippery slope in which marriage redefinition would go. For every additional sexual partner I have, and for the shorter lived those relationships are, the greater the chances that I create children with multiple women, without commitment with either to those mothers or to those kids. It increases the likelihood of creating fragmented families and then big government will step in to pick up the pieces with a host of welfare programs that truly drain the economic prospects of all of our states. ... So for all those reasons this is why the State and all states have an interest in preserving the definition of marriage as a union, permanent and exclusive of a man and a woman.
Also an article supporting some of Ryan T. Anderson's points:
It’s worse to be raised by a single mother, even if you’re not poor.
The reason for this is that fathers tend to be the disciplinarian in the family. They provide the moral framework in his children's lives.
Reminder that even though the Catholic Church does not support gay marriage, it doesn't mean that she hates gay people. There is a ministry called Courage International where people with same-sex attractions are encourage to live chaste and holy lives.

In my recent post about the surrogacy law change in Italy, I got a lot of responses along the lines of “if gay men want kids they should just adopt them” .
Besides the fact that some of y’all need to learn to read (it literally says in the screenshots I posted that they aren’t allowed to adopt in Italy), I’m concerned with how adoption is considered a solution for people who can’t have kids.
Adopted kids don’t come from the aether. And the adoption industry, especially in my country (usa), is very exploitative of low income or otherwise disadvantaged women and children. This, in combination with our terrible criminal justice system, puts a lot of kids with living parents up for adoption when it is possible for them to remain with their birth families, which is almost always best for the mother and child. All of this, and I haven’t even touched on the ethical nightmare of international adoption.
I understand the need for adoption if the kid has literally no living family, but then the adoption would happen for the sake of the kid, not to complete some stranger’s family.
All of this to say, if you consider adoption to be the “solution” to infertility, please do some research.

“Some view the practice as a means of gaining financial autonomy and draw parallels with sex work, arguing that women should have the right — and freedom — to so-called commodify their bodies if they choose. Yet others have drawn comparisons with practices like the sale of organs, and ask, if the option of becoming a surrogate is presented to vulnerable women who are desperate to lift their families out of poverty, how much can their decision ever really be construed as an active choice?
…
The transnational element to commercial surrogacy agreements — which overwhelmingly involve those from affluent countries traveling to poorer nations to source a surrogate — is another reason many are uncomfortable with the practice, leading some bioethicists to brand it a form of biological colonialism. Before the practice was outlawed in India — first for foreign couples in 2015 before being entirely banned in 2021 — stories in the country’s press abounded of women recruited from deprived, rural regions, being pushed into signing surrogacy contracts they were unable to read and, once pregnant, crammed together in dormitories. Surrogacy in Nepal generated headlines after the 2015 earthquake, when the Israeli government swept in to airlift a small group of Nepalese women carrying the babies of Israeli nationals out of the disaster zone, while other earthquake victims were left behind, bringing stark global inequalities into sharp relief. Commercial surrogacy flourished in Thailand until 2015 when the country banned it for foreigners after a series of high-profile cases, including an Australian couple who were accused of abandoning their “Baby Gammy,” who was born with Down syndrome.”

Yes some of the remarks were sadly homophobic. But dismissing all backlash as homophobia instead of the concerns over the ethics of surrogacy is just a way to shut down critics concerned about the exploitation of women and babies being created just to be torn away from their mothers

what do you think about gallavich having kids
well they both seem to really like kids so i ignore my automatic flinch reaction to the corniness of "tv couple has kids" because its not out of character. you know, it's a stated goal of a nice man. i think it'd be nice for them. certainly not til they're in their 30s at least though Sorry Ian one apartment does not a family ready man make
like obviously the whole yevgeny thing would have to be reckoned with like mickey as a man who likes kids + did not want that child but grew fond of him anyway + was forcibly separated for years by incarceration* and not a single aspect of that is conductive to a good emotional response to just having another one. i don't know necessarily that reconnecting is necessary (as opposed to just, noticing and dealing with how it feels) though i think it'd be nice, maybe to have mickey a sort of more distant family figure for yevgeny - i don't think svetlana would allow yevgeny to live in a way that his needs weren't being met AND i think jumping back into being fully involved would probably freak mickey out
as much as i enjoyed their new apartment i think it's a little sad that they don't live with a couple family members anymore (for now) because i think being able to be close with siblings' kids would be really good for ^^ all that - also it's just safer for kids to have a larger support system than just their parents
there are unfortunately also not a lot of ethical ways for a gay couple to GET a kid... i don't have all the sources, i'd have to ask to get a better explanation, but adoption and surrogacy are both highly flawed systems that often mislead and exploit birth parents. annoyingly enough the most ethical idea presented was probably the "you want me banging your sister??" (IVF exists btw mickey. no you do not have to bang his sister in this scenario) exchange because they know debbie and she'd be able and definitely determined to be involved in the life of any hypothetical child. BUT STILL - even beyond that they'd need to be sure she wanted to be involved, id say it'd be important to know she already wanted another kid. like BEFORE saying anything. pregnancy is a potentially dangerous and traumatic process that it's really not fair to ask of someone!
shameless itself within the show briefly referenced the problems with adoption and surrogacy both - in how objectively horrifying some of the people karen talked to were, in how horribly unfair it would've been to separate v's mom from her child with kevin, in those men who wanted to adopt liam and carl with no concern for their existing family who loved them.
thinking about ian and mickey having kids inevitably leads me also into the philosophy of the "nuclear family" which is just in general not a great setup anyway... having more support and more regular contact with trustworthy loving adults is always healthier for a child. having only 2 people be in control of your whole life + whom you rely on for everything carries more potential for abuse or just flat-out overwhelming the parents. so being in a wider family network is probably not what ian is picturing but if i could email him i'd recommend it wholeheartedly
*and probably not knowing where svetlana is. i assume she gave up hope that mickey would care because they're both such "show by doing" ass bitches which is IMPOSSIBLE to do from inside prison. so he can't express his care for a child he's grown attached to and she can't see him care for her son -> she feels heartbroken and doesn't want her son to grow up around a man who "doesn't care" -> she cuts off contact, leaves the area, refuses to discuss mickey. all speculative

Which comes first: The Science or The Fiction?
You gotta love when fiction ignites innovation. Doesn't The Original Star Trek Series get credit for several technological advances inspired by the show?
It's just as exciting when modern day scientific breakthroughs send your brain reeling with more creative juice than a bunny farm in the spring time.
BRING ON THE PLOT BUNNIES!
Prompt time: Look what I came across today.
That's right. Let's look at the scientific breakthrough where plastic artificial wombs are saving premature lambs. Using this to help premature human babies is an exciting hope and dream that's not as far off today as it was yesterday. Wow! Right?
NOW LET'S IMAGINE FURTHER.
Spring will be coming soon for the Northern Hemisphere, so let's get hopping and talk about making babies!
Then Autumn is just around the corner in the Southern Hemisphere, right? Are ya ready to start harvesting all those seeds and wild oats sowed several months ago?
I love the way Kaila Hale-Stern's brain works when presented with scientific news as this. Quoting the article I linked to above:
"The possibilities and ramifications therein are endless in terms of reproductive rights battles, infertility, surrogacy, maternal death rates, adoption—I could go on pretty much forever. If you could grow your baby in an artificial environment under ideal circumstances, would women choose to give birth naturally anymore? Would this become another province of the wealthy, already a concern in countries where surrogacy “farms” are the rise and childbirth is being “outsourced”? Would there come to be a cultural divide and battles between “old-fashioned” vs. “artificial” births? So many questions. BRB I’m pitching this TV show to Syfy."
Fun, right? This could be fascinating! NOW...
KEEP GOING. MORE BUNNIES!
I would LOVE to know what any of y'all might come up with. In fact I dare you to read this article and NOT have at least a couple baby plot bunnies start thumping around in your head begging for attention.
Dramatic, heartwarming, tear-jerking, sad, stressful, infuriating, inspiring, exciting, stimulating, arousing, kinky, scary, cheery, funny, dark, soft dark, suspenseful, thriller, terrifying, horrific, encouraging, adorable, fluffy.... ANY genre! ANY trope! ANY tone. ANY mood. ANY flavor.
Yep, one of the hops my plot bunnies did was wondering about an adult size womb. This sent my mind in the direction of sensory deprivation chambers with nutrient exchange for long term stasis. For Short-term or Long-term confinement. Latex and rubber kinks come to mind, of course. There are always plenty of full bodysuit images on the internet in a full range of colors. But don't mind me. Hope this didn't lose people. I'm just trying to illustrate possible extremes of the many many ideas some of y'all might come up with. There are wild kinks out there.
But also consider life support systems for space travel, storage, shipping, cloning, boy-in-a-bubble scenarios. Maybe an alternative to cryogenic storage. Matrix type of tropes. Genetic wars. A/B/O political conflicts or extinction prevention solutions. Medical drama, mad max, apocalyptic ramifications, utopian, dystopian, alien, modern day, futuristic, victorian medical steampunk innovations, mad scientist experimentations, fantastic fantasy witchcraft mixed with modern medicine, collector preservation specimens, genetic experimentations or manipulation. Political issues, religious issues, ethical issues, moral issues, big picture discussions, individual POV stories. Fertility problems. Society norms. Societal evolution. Breeding kink. Family starting. Genetic survival.
I think I'm starting to repeat myself. Oops.

There have been lots of talks and debates regarding the legality of surrogacy in Cambodia in the past. Still, if we talk about the current situation, the government of Cambodia had banned commercial surrogacy few years back. Moreover, this decision was made due to growing concerns over exploitation and human rights abuses. That said, you may come across many surrogacy agency in Cambodia offering low cost surrogacy options to the international intended parents. While this may create some ethical and legal issues, we would advise you to read the following parts of the blog before reaching to a conclusion.

Okay wait genuinely wondering what that anon meant in regards to surrogacy being human trafficking? Maybe it’s a cultural difference because I’m from the US but I’ve heard plenty of people say that exact opposite (in the sense that they view adoption as human trafficking and surrogacy as the more morally correct option, especially if it’s altruistic surrogacy). You absolutely don’t have to answer this if you don’t want to start a dialogue about this stuff on your blog btw I’m just curious
no there's defo cultural difference in attitudes and norms. i mean, i think there's some ethical concerns around surrogacy in that it might be used to exploit vulnerable women desperate for money, and also the potential that surrogates' health and wellbeing might be neglected by parents who only really care about the baby they get at the end of it. in the uk, i believe the surrogate mother is also considered the legal mother until she signs away parental rights or some such to the biological parents, which has its own set of issues in terms of what happens should she decide she wants to keep the baby she's just grown and birthed or whatever. the human trafficking statement is probably to do with the fact that it's someone's body being used for another's biological gain, and that consent around this could be very dubious - again, more vulnerable women are likely to be put at risk from this. i know that in the u.s. you have companies specifically designed to match surrogates and would-be parents, like it's a whole paid process, whereas it's not a thing to that extent in europe - i think there's a lot less security and more risk involved with surrogacy, so a lot of people are rightfully wary. also, in the uk, the nhs don't have anything to do with surrogacy, so it would mean going private for healthcare and a lot of people aren't prepared to do that - obviously in the u.s. there's no real alternative to paid treatments.
but that's not to say that there aren't issues with foster care and adoption either - children of colour are more likely to be disadvantaged by the systems, which are overwhelmed. in the uk, unlike the u.s., third-party and private agency adoptions are illegal - you have to go through the social care system to adopt legally - and there's statistically less international adoption (i looked it up) in the uk than there is in the u.s.; as such, there's less potential for adoptions to be instances of human trafficking. that said, though, there's definitely a lot of fear of child abuse regarding kids in the care system here.
i don't mind keeping the dialogue open, but i'd ask we keep it all respectful if we do, please <3

Causes of Infertility
Infertility can be caused by various factors, affecting both men and women. In women, common causes include irregular ovulation, blocked fallopian tubes, endometriosis, and age-related decline in fertility. For men, infertility often arises from issues with sperm quality, low sperm count, or motility problems. Other contributing factors include hormonal imbalances, lifestyle choices, and environmental factors.
Infertility Treatment Options in Jaipur
Jaipur is home to some of the most advanced fertility clinics and centers, offering a variety of treatments tailored to individual needs. Here are some of the primary infertility treatments available:
In Vitro Fertilization (IVF): IVF is one of the most popular and effective treatments for infertility, particularly in cases of blocked fallopian tubes, male infertility, and unexplained infertility. In IVF, eggs are extracted from the woman’s ovaries, fertilized with sperm in a laboratory, and then the embryo is implanted in the uterus. Leading clinics in Jaipur offer state-of-the-art IVF services with high success rates.
Intrauterine Insemination (IUI): IUI is a less invasive option for couples facing fertility issues. During the procedure, sperm is directly injected into the woman’s uterus at the time of ovulation. IUI is often recommended for cases of mild male infertility, cervical issues, or unexplained infertility.
ICSI (Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection): ICSI is a variation of IVF and is typically used in cases of male infertility where sperm quality is compromised. In ICSI, a single sperm is injected directly into an egg to facilitate fertilization, ensuring higher chances of success when sperm count or motility is low.
Egg and Sperm Donation: For couples who are unable to conceive with their own eggs or sperm, egg and sperm donation is a viable option. Donated eggs or sperm can be used in IVF or IUI procedures, allowing couples to experience parenthood even if they cannot conceive with their own reproductive cells.
Surrogacy: Surrogacy is a solution for couples where the woman cannot carry a pregnancy to term. In this procedure, a surrogate mother is implanted with the couple’s embryo and carries the pregnancy to full term. Jaipur has some highly reputable surrogacy centers with stringent legal and ethical guidelines.
Fertility Preservation: Many women and men choose to preserve their fertility for various reasons, including career, health, or age. Fertility preservation involves freezing eggs, sperm, or embryos for future use. Clinics in Jaipur provide this service, enabling individuals to preserve their reproductive options.
Why Choose Jaipur for Infertility Treatment?

What is Altruistic Surrogacy?
Surrogacy is a process where a woman (the surrogate) carries and delivers a child for another individual or couple. Among the various types of surrogacies, altruistic surrogacy stands out for its ethical and selfless nature. It is an arrangement where the surrogate mother does not receive any financial compensation beyond medical and pregnancy-related expenses. This type of surrogacy is becoming increasingly common, especially in countries like India, where the legal framework supports it.
What is Altruistic Surrogacy?
Altruistic surrogacy involves a surrogate mother agreeing to carry a child without monetary gain. The surrogate may be a close relative, friend, or someone willing to help a couple struggling with infertility. In India, altruistic surrogacy is the only legally allowed form of surrogacy under the Surrogacy (Regulation) Act, 2021.
The intended parents cover the surrogate's medical, legal, and pregnancy-related expenses, but no other compensation is provided. This ensures that the process remains ethical and free from commercial exploitation.

Ladies in the UK, if you are opposed to surrogacy and want to connect with other ladies addressing the ethical concerns Che k out Surrogacy Concern.
We are a group of women and men in the UK, who have come together to oppose liberalisation of the law on surrogacy . We do not believe it is right to separate mothers and their children, nor do we believe the law should be relaxed to make this process easier in Britain.
Our founder and volunteers hail from left wing backgrounds; we campaign against surrogacy from a feminist perspective, which fundamentally centres the right of children to remain with their mothers, and against the commodification of women’s bodies and the commercialization of pregnancy.

Egg Donor Bank USA: Making Parenthood Dreams a Reality for All
In the journey to parenthood, egg donor banks have become a powerful resource for families seeking assistance. At Indian Egg Donors, we understand the significance of each step in this journey and have dedicated ourselves to helping intended parents achieve their dreams of a healthy and happy family. Our Egg Donor Bank USA program offers intended parents an array of exceptional egg donor options to ensure the best possible outcome, guided by expertise, compassion, and a commitment to ethical care.
Why Choose an Egg Donor Bank?
Egg donation has become a preferred choice for many couples and individuals facing fertility challenges. It allows intended parents to conceive and experience the joys of parenthood, even if they may be unable to have a child biologically. Through our Egg Donor Bank in the USA, we connect parents with a diverse pool of healthy, carefully screened donors who meet stringent criteria to ensure high-quality care.
Indian Egg Donors provide access to both fresh and frozen donor eggs, giving intended parents the flexibility to choose what best suits their needs and timelines. Our Frozen Embryo Transfer (FET) program is especially popular for its convenience and success rates. Frozen eggs are collected, preserved, and stored using advanced cryopreservation techniques, which maintain their quality until they are ready for use. This approach not only streamlines the process but also allows intended parents to start the transfer procedure when they’re most prepared.
The Frozen Embryo Transfer (FET) Process
Frozen Embryo Transfer is a critical step that enables intended parents to bring their plans to life. Once a successful embryo has been created, either through a fresh or frozen donor egg, the FET process begins. This involves thawing the selected embryos and carefully transferring them into the uterus of the intended mother or a gestational carrier.
FET has gained immense popularity due to its flexibility. Intended parents can coordinate the transfer according to their schedule, allowing for better planning and emotional preparedness. At Indian Egg Donors, we follow a meticulous protocol to ensure that each step of the transfer process is performed with precision and care. We provide our clients with detailed guidance and support, helping them understand what to expect and addressing any concerns along the way.
