I have to rant about the Key Guardians of Doodle World. You could say it's some Food for Mind. Usually when it comes to the architype of test for the player to see if they are strong enough to progress or if they've made progress. This architype for this test is most well known as something called a 'Gym Leader' For Doodle World, their 'Gym Leader' are the Key Guardians. Just like a gym leader, you are there to defeat them and obtain something as proof of your strength. But the special thing about the Key Guardians. Unlike Gym Leaders, who do it as a job and have multiple badges. Key Guardians only have one key. Whoever beats them first that wants the key, gets it. And being a Key Guardian is something that's passed down to them through family, it's more like a duty rather than a job. The Key Guardians are the main focus of the game in many ways, I love how the game incorporates the 'badges' of the game. It's important lore and gameplay wise. You have to be the first to get the keys. Which is why Quincy and TJ are more rivals than other rivals since there is only one key for each Key Guardian. Meaning if they can't get this one key, they don't have a key. Another thing. Every Key Guardian has some kind of twist them that makes them different from even Gym Leaders. A gym challenge before you face the Gym Leader themselves. Nimbus has you go through a traditional puzzle to prove yourself worthy to fight him. The closest to a traditional gym challenge. Von Sweets... is dealing with problems and locked himself away, so you need to get him out. By beating the shit out of a bear. Erika is seemingly this strong tamer that's a typical excellent student, but only after getting to know her and you are put in danger that it's revealed she's a Key Guardian. Then she faces you once you deal with the danger. You hear that Zane is the supposed Key Guardian, after the last three being revealed directly to you, with a guy like him and so much pointing to him being the Key Guardian, the twist is that he ISN'T the Key Guardian. It's actually Victor Solis, the guy that told you to go after Zane just so he wouldn't get his hands dirty. That's the twist there. And the last twist is Anna Where instead of trying to find out the next key guardian, its outright revealed to you. And instead of trying to defeat her, you must instead protect her. All of the Key Guardians have a different twist, all that flow with their characters so well. Oh yeah, Key Guardians actually have personality. Sure, with Nimbus and Von Sweets, it's a bit hard to say. But with Erika, Zane, Victor Solis and Anna. All of them are memorable due to their respective arcs that surrounds them. I mean Erika is so loved that she's often drawn with the main cast. I love the Key Guardians and the roles they play.

I've been feeling very Ghostwire: Tokyo-y lately but I'm also having a massive art block so I can't draw anything. Even though I miss doodling KK so much. But I still have the power to talk about it, so I'm going to make a list of some GW:T AUs I have so far! Just so my head won't explode from containing it.

Oh and don't forget to check the alt texts for the image, it has more informations :)

First of all, of course we have the Everybody Lives AU. No explanation needed, except maybe that my version of this has KK, Erika, Akito, and Mari all with the final stage of affinity unlocked (in other words, powers!) and they're all working together with Rinko, Ed and Dale. I also wrote a fic with this AU, posted here.

I call this one Core AU. It's where post-game everything is the same except KK stayed inside Akito's body as his core. (There's a lot of explanation needed on this. I'm leaving that part to Ed.) The full name of this AU is It's all about learning to live together, inspired by KK's line during the final boss fight in the game. So the story is mostly about, well, actually learning to live together.

Soujutsuki!KK AU. Post-game, KK got his body back but it has some... modifications. He got... umm... onificated... and could turn into the Soujutsuki form when in another world (just like Yaseotoko.) KK has full control of everything, though.

Next one is Purifier!Akito AU. (I don't have any drawings of this AU yet, sorry.) This one is basically an actual post-game where Akito is trying to go back into living normally but he just can't ignore the things happening around him and is still trying to resolve it any way he can (he doesn't have powers, but still have access to things like the bow/arrow and kifuda.) Until one day he meet again with the Tatari, who keeps calling him Purifier, which make him mad because "KK is dead, I'm not him." But the Tatari responded calmly with "aren't you the new Purifier?" (Akito will end up unlocking his powers later because he keeps involving himself in underworldy stuff.)

Now, I know I'm really focused on Canon Compliant and Canon Divergent AUs but I have something that isn't that. Megitsune!Akito AU. Where KK is just trying to live his life as a detective, ignoring his 'sixth sense' he knows he has (it's actually really bothering him.) But one day, he saw someone that he knows isn't a human, so he followed them. They turned out to be a Kitsune. (Chaos ensues. Or something like that.)

I have more, obviously, but I think five is enough to put in this post. Also, a lot of this is inspired by other people in this fandom!! (Though mostly the JP side on Twitter because I'm basically just lurking between them.) It's so lovely!

UMINEKO: FUN COLOURED TRUTH WEAPONS

Made some weapons inspired by the conceptual ones.

Rainbow Sword: no clue what this would do but I have the phrases "Love Coloured Truth" and "Sword of Truths Sevenfold" in my head now so do with that what you will.

Green and Magenta Axes: While Green Truths have been fashioned in opposition to the Red Truth before, this executioner's axe possesses a Truth specifically meant to destroy the Red. If it's used by someone without enough power, it won't do anything, but in the hands of a powerful Witch who can simply ignore the truths of lesser ones, it can annihilate a story. This is similar to what Erika Furudo did during End of the Golden Witch, and what the army of goats did to Rokkenjima during Twilight, but deliberately worked on and fashioned into an axe that can behead any story, burning away all meaning.

So long as someone with the Red Truth still lives, this Truth can only serve to deny and cancel it out. Nothing is left in the aftermath. If a Game Master is to die, however, this changes, and the full power of this Green is unlocked. The axe burns so deeply that the Green cannot be perceived, only its absence: Magenta. This Truth can burn away the previous one, and then supplant it with its own. This has applied to stories where the author has died, and new stories have appeared to reshape them, but it also applies to events in more real worlds. Original events have been written over so well that none can find what the truth used to be. This can be used for the worse but also for the better. After all, even the Red can be a subjective and misleading Truth.

(Also yeah, this makes for the 3rd Green Truth made by someone in this readthrough. I'm sorry. I actually might try and make a lil doodle comic about that in future if I remember.)

Like... I have this image of the five key guardians together having a tea party, like Dulcis recommended they all get to know one another. Then Anna is like the type of person to ask "I didn't know tea tastes differently if you put it in hot water" she's way too used to drinking everything cold. Erika is the type to put her mug in the microwave since she's impatient, and she's a student. Zane's the type to put his mug directly on top of the stove to heat up his tea. Then there's Dulcis, just cringing in seeing these children, the new generation, heat up water like this. Nimbus is like "Don't you own a fucking kettle", since I imagine Dulcis taught him and gave him one as a gift.

5) It's cold and wet outside, your OC has just come in the front door. What do they do to get warm?

First off, Selen is shaking himself down like a drenched dog (regardless of if he’s in an animal form or not). The man probably always forgets to carry a jacket or umbrella and thus is cursed to always get soaked on a rainy day.

Once he’s shaken himself down, he’s grabbing himself a towel (or two), stripping down, and drying up the remaining water. Once that’s done, Selen takes his wrapped up self to the nearest cushion and just blacking out. He’ll do enough work to get out of wet clothes but he’s just lazy enough not to put on new clothes or start a fire.

6) What's your OC's idea of a cozy night in?

A night in for Selen is kinda also a night out? He goes outside, to the roof of whatever house he lives in, to sleep under the stars. The cool night air and the faint light from above is comforting to Selen.

20) Do they hog the blankets?

Not really. Selen’s body runs warm so he’s usually kicking blankets off of him. He’s a pillow hogger though. He likes wrapping himself around other stuff for whatever reason. (Btw, I can imagine that when Cynthia was little and slept beside Selen, he'd end up squeezing her in his sleep because she's small and the perfect size hugging size. Just a little father-daughter bonding...)

22) How would they solve the one bed and two people scenario? Could they share a bed?

Selen is a little cheater. He’d transform into an animal and just curl up on the floor (yes, Selen can maintain a transformation while asleep). He’s perfectly content like that since the animal body is built for that. He’s only really ever shared a bed with his family, Magna, and Vanessa and gets awkward about it with anyone else.

5) It's cold and wet outside, your OC has just come in the front door. What do they do to get warm?

Hot shower is the first thing on her mind. She doesn't mind being wet, it's really the cold factor of being cold and wet that gets to her. So she'll rinse off with a hot shower. She'll then dress warm and finish drying off in front of a fire. It's a process for Cynthia.

6) What's your OC's idea of a cozy night in?

Cynthia would construct herself a blanket and pillow fort and get comfy in there. She'd have a mug of tea to drink and a notebook to write or doodle in. She could also bring along her arts and crafts kit if she really wants to get creative in her fort. For Cynthia, being cozy is being hidden away from the world, tucked in a warm space where she can let her thoughts wander and maybe create something.

20) Do they hog the blankets?

Unlike her dad, Cynthia runs cold. So she will in fact hog the blankets on the couch or bed when she's settling down, just to sit or to nap or sleep. Even when she's sound asleep, she'll find a way to drag blankets to her and securely wrap them around her body like she's a burrito.

Cynthia has joked that "it's not my fault that all the fabric gets drawn to me. That's my magic, y'know?" Very silly but that's what she's said in the past.

22) How would they solve the one bed and two people scenario? Could they share a bed?

Cynthia is fine with sharing a bed with another person. She's done it with her parents as a child and when she babysits Jesse, they cuddle up too. With someone she's friends with or at least knows well, she's perfectly fine sharing a bed. She'll just be careful not to sleep too close, depending on their person's boundaries. Cynthia would, understandably, be hesitant to do it with a complete stranger.

If needed, Cynthia would use a bit of her Fabric Magic to create a curtain barrier of some kind with some kind of ability that will keep her and the bed partner from getting too close. But that would only be possible once Cynthia is older and stronger and able to cast spells that remain in effect even while she's sleeping.

Potential full body outfit for Suvi (one for ceremonies & conclaves and one for every day) I'm still messing around with it b/c I'm still playing around with idea of her being apprentice witch of the wind & stars and its like do we do full winter fit or "the cold doesn't bother anyway"

For Suvi I'm thinking about her relation to the citadel as a witch cause like imagine she's still raised by citadel wizard steel who's constantly traveling so Suvi grows up on the outskirts of the citadel and as she like develops her magic her casting is too different from the rigidity of spellcasting in the citadel so she has to turn to apprenticing under a witch

In my head Ame is a mix of a dragon, stoat, and fox. I think her magic allows her to change how big or small she is but her wayshadow taboo is that her glamor doesn't really work all the time so to have a full human glamor takes up a lot of energy so she has ears and tail out most of the time to offset the energy. So most of the time when she's out people assume she's fey touched like Kalaya's family or ghost. I haven't thought about mechanically what class Ame would be since she's a wild one but I'll think about it more as I draw this role swap <3
