A few reminders from our team as you submit your feedback:

Playtest feedback is most useful when it identifies specific issues, pain points, and areas of confusion—or things that are working well. If you think something is bad/not fun/unbalanced/not as good as the previous version, please be specific and tell us why! And finally, please don't backseat design—it's most helpful to know what you think of the existing design, not what you think it should be, so we can best identify the core issues to address.

The designers (Hannah, Mazey, Brandes, Dan, and Brennan) are the ones reading the feedback, so please keep things polite and respectful. We know the class isn't perfect yet—that's why we're playtesting!—but we've put a lot of time, blood, sweat, tears, difficult-to-obtain ritual components, hearts, and souls into this design process.

I’ve been binging the Worlds Beyond Number podcast with Aabriya Iyengar, Brennan Lee Mulligan, Erika Ishii, and Lou Wilson. And I gotta say, it’s quickly becoming one of my favorite actual plays out there, but not for the reasons you’d think.

Yes, the characters are fantastic. The acting is top-tier. The world building is exemplary. But the thing that makes the podcast really stand out is the sound design. In a purely auditory medium such as a podcast, the sound is so important to paint the scene with color. And between the musical motifs for factions and characters, the masterwork that is the magic sound design, and the creature sound effects… y’all, this podcast has utterly enraptured me. I’m charmed, gobsmacked, and thoroughly enjoying the show so far.

Worlds Beyond Number listeners. I'm on episode 18, fully hooked, but I have to know something if someone doesn't care to spoil me slightly. Also, spoiler warning for everything up to episode 18.

Do we ever get straight up confirmation that the wizards of the citadel are bad guys? It has this really weird feeling to me. Like, making living spells that exist solely to essentially be kamikazes, if you have unused spell energy at the end of your day, you're supposed to donate it to the Army. It has a WWII victory garden aura. Only we've not seen anyone from the opposing side (as of where I'm at), so we can't even say that they're fighting evil.

Also, Morrow in Port Talon may have been working towards incurring Steel's wrath, but who knows what would have come of it. I feel like he either would have been, or still might be, Project Paperclipped into a higher position like he wanted, possibly under the radar, but maybe not, because he figured out how to trap and harness the power of a great spirit. This empire, this dynasty, they always seem to be at war, or at least in skirmishes with other nations. You're telling me they won't harness this power to give themselves an edge?

The citadel itself is weird, too. This gigantic structure built in the middle of a desert with illusory fauna so you can pretend to hear the birds chirp without there actually being birds. You can lay in the grass with food and bugs won't get your food because there aren't any bugs. They keep using the word "Imperial" which means they're an empire, which means they've conquered other nations and brought them into said empire.

It just all reeks of this "Look at the shinies while we commit atrocities," ploy to me. It also makes for a really awesome choice for Suvi. Does she stay in the citadel knowing what they're up to? Does she rationalize it away as being "For the greater good," or does she confront it?

Can anyone confirm? I just need to know if I'm picking up on the vibes correctly. Also, feel free to add anything I might have missed that might back me up, or even contradict me. @quiddie I would love to hear your take as well.

Convinced my brother to play the WBN Witch class in his current campaign when he needed to switch up his PC. I think the retaliatory curses were what convinced him. His witch is a Coven of the Green Sea Elf, with a beachy bar sanctum and a human familiar named Bob.

They are level 12.

In their first session, when everyone was meeting up and getting ready to travel, someone asked if he had a horse. He's like, "I don't have a HORSE".

Which led them to ask why he said it like that. (Because they've met him.)

So he showed them the 5th Level spell, Animate Hut. My brother is out there living his best Baba Yaga life.

Later the hut will be able to fly.

They needed to be sneaky at some point. Someone wondered if they'd be able to use Pass Without a Trace while in an ambulatory hut. My brother pointed to the wording of both spells and then they had to figure out what the hut's stealth modifier was.

I'm really enjoying hearing about his witchy adventures.

you can't make a problem go away just by pretending it doesn't exist. you have to call it out.

misfits and magic calls out that book series in every way possible, from the general discrimination to the lack of diversity to the specific idea that kids are evil from age 11.

should that book series get more publicity? no. but if the bullshit that author does is ignored, it will only fester and become a bigger problem. call out the issue without giving the issue any money. call out the issue in an effective manner. and in this case, call out the issue in a fun way that supports actual queer people.
