What do you think about the costumes on the gilded age?

I haven't started S2, but I was pretty impressed! There's so many gowns that are just straight up recreations of historical garments. Kasia Walicka-Maimone is very talented and I'm so happy she's getting a big budget show like this.

There was a couple clunkers on Carrie as Bertha Russell, but I can let that go seeing as 1) she was a last minute casting change, and 2) she was 8 months pregnant when filming on S1 wrapped! Seriously, kudos to the costume team because there was only one moment where I was like 'yeah she's pregnant'. The red gown makes up for everything though lol.

Blair Waldorf

a waxing and waning sense of self

The image of Blair's playlist presented itself to me pretty early on. It needed plenty of songs from the 40s, 50s, and 60s. It needed to be sung entirely by women (nobody else has a gender restriction.) It needed to be partially in French (she's the only bilingual playlist.)

A whopping 5 of the 8 songs in this section came from a playlist of all the songs featured in The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. Thank you to Eric Gorfain and Sam Phillips for giving me that starting point.

This section is the only one in the project that features songs by both Leighton Meester and Taylor Momsen (ie The Pretty Reckless.) I considered losing The Pretty Reckless song but the layers of Jenny's voice singing "You don't want me like I want you" was too good to pass up.

The lyrics for You're in Paris from Ben Franklin in Paris don't actually exist anywhere on the internet, and transcribing them was almost annoying enough for me to replace the song.

I had a rule for myself that Dan's playlist wouldn't have any Taylor Swift (he needed a more pretentious indie sound.) But she has a few songs here because I have to admit she has some Dair Songs.

three ships: I am a random, casual shipper. But I love Lenore/H.G. Wells from Poe Party, and I have been devouring/rereading these three fics about Vincent/Eric from Entourage, of all things. Never watched the show, but the fics are so good! And Lenny/Miriam from Mrs. Maisel, based purely on chemistry and .gifs.

first ship: Probably Wendy/Peter Pan. Bb!Freloux did not know what was going on with them in the 2004 version of that movie, but was Intrigued.

last song: "A More Perfect Union" by Titus Andronicus. I like to periodically revisit songs I liked years ago and see if they hold up. This one does.

last film: Apocalypse Now, which I finished last night. (Had to split it into two nights.) So. Good.

currently reading: Rereading some romance novels because work is in a crunch season and I'm tired when I get home.
