Over 22 years late, development plan still misses latest target
Chief Office Eric Bush answers questions at the PAC meeting (CNS): The chief officer in the planning ministry has said the target to get the National Development Plan completed by the end of last year was “over-ambitious”, even though this project is now more than 22 years late. Eric Bush reeled off a long list of meetings, consultations, reviews and redrafts involving civil servants,…

Psyched On U: A Big Impression
Tumblr media
Chapter summary: We’re officially in Smutsville, population: 2. Not a lot of plot here but there are a couple of nods to Eric’s heavily eyelinered role in GCB. See if you can spot them. If you’re under 18, I kindly ask that you skip this chapter and the next one. Story summary: Dr. Lucy Chen is a 37-year-old psychology professor with secrets that could change everything. Her life takes an unexpected turn when LAPD Sergeant Tim Bradford enrolls in her class, using the GI Bill as a cover to surveil her. As Lucy and Tim navigate their intertwined roles, they begin to challenge their beliefs about each other and confront some difficult truths.

Road changes may not be enough to make Spotts safe
(CNS): One of Cayman’s most notoriously dangerous stretches of road is finally receiving some attention from government which has said it plans to make Spotts Straight safer. Since January, this 1.5-mile stretch of road has seen six fatalities, emphasizing the urgent need for proactive and sustainable safety measures. But campaigners who have pressed government for years about reducing the speed…

Former Alan Parsons Project Guitarist Ian Bairnson Dies at 69
- Musician also played with Pilot, Kate Bush and others
Ian Bairnson, the longtime Alan Parsons Project guitarist and in-demand session musician, died April 7.
Bairnson was 69 and had had a “long battle with dementia,” his wife, Leila, said.
“Although Ian has left us, his musical legacy stays with us and will continue to delight and brighten our lives, as it did his, forever,” Leila Bairnson said in a statement.
Bairnson, whom Parsons called “a musical genius,” played on all of APP’s 11 LPs from 1976 and 1990 and also toured with the Live Project.
“He was a true master of the guitar - he knew every possible playable guitar chord and how to describe it … but amazingly, he never took the time to learn conventional musical notation,” Parsons said in a statement.
“Ian will be greatly missed, but never forgotten,” Parsons added.
Bairnson was a member of the Scottish band Pilot and toured and recorded with, among others, Mick Fleetwood, Eric Clapton and Kate Bush, performing the guitar solo on the latter’s “Wuthering Heights.”
“Ian was the finest guitar player I have ever worked with and also a long-time friend,” Pilot’s David Paton said in a statement. “We shared many happy and successful times together. We lived the dream of many aspiring musicians.”
