The domestic electronics hardware manufacturing sector faces a lack of a level playing field vis-a-vis competing nations. Today, 'Make in India' is quite the buzzword. Initiatives like Make in India, Digital India and Startup India have given the much-needed thrust to the Electronics System Design and Manufacturing (ESDM) sector in India. ESD CONTROL IN AUTOMOTIVE MANUFACTURING

With the automotive industry quickly and increasingly adapting to more and more advanced electronic technology, the need for proper ESD protection grows more critical.
Electrostatic (ESD) damage is one of the biggest threats to safety and productivity for automotive manufacturers. Every piece of electrical/electronic equipment has the potential to contribute to the occurrence of ESD. It is also most susceptible to the damage caused by ESD.
Why ESD control is important for electronics-related industries
Today vehicles of all types are packed with electrical/electronic parts and systems. Studies of damage to components in electronic devices, related to ESD events, estimate the cost of damage according to when the event is detected. If the damage is discovered at the point of assembly, the cost is one times the cost of assembly and labour. But if damage is discovered during QC testing, the cost is ten times that of assembly and labour. TACKLING ESD PROBLEMS IN SEMICONDUCTOR MANUFACTURING

Semiconductors or chips/ICs (integrated circuits) are the heart and soul of alldigital products. Semiconductors were required by a large number of industries, including telecommunications, information technology, industrial machinery and automation, medical electronics, automobile, engineering, power and solar photovoltaic, defence and aerospace, consumer electronics, and appliances.
Semiconductors have been a key enabler in the advancement of electronics for the past 50 years and will continue to play an even greater role with the introduction of new technologies and applications, such as internet of things (IoT), artificial intelligence, 5G, smart cars, smart factories, date centres, robotics, etc.
