Interview at Korean Consulate

What to Expect at the Korean Consulate During your Interview The role of this interview is to eliminate any candidates who are considered unsuitable to teach in Korea by the Korean consulate. Please remember that this is a job interview. It is important to act and dress professionally. Try to arrive early for your interview. Dress in business casual attire, but suit jackets and ties are not required. Be kind and patient and speak slowly and clearly. During your interview, you will be asked a series of questions regarding your background, experience, and goals for teaching in Korea.

Some of the concerns of the Korean Government are: drug use, criminal record, education and employment history, mental health, and your intentions for going to Korea to teach.

Be aware that Korean society has zero tolerance for drugs. Why would you be a good teacher to children? Why do you want to go to Korea to teach? It is a good idea to think about how you will answer these, and other questions they may ask you beforehand.

Receiving Your Visa Most of the time, you will be able pick up your visa the business day AFTER your interview. If you do not want to pick up your visa in person, then it will be issued and mailed within 2 business days of your interview in a self-addressed envelope you provide. NO FedEx RETURN ENVELOPES!! Once the interview has been conducted and the work visa approved, the consulate will stamp the visa in the teacher’s passport. The visa usually takes between three and five business days to process after the interview, though as little as one hour has been heard of. Section 10: Place of Issue- Your home country (or the country where you are getting your E-2 Visa)

Section 16, 17, 18: Current occupation in your home country

Section 19: English Teacher

Section 21: Desired length of stay – 1 year

Section 23: Address in Korea – Write the school’s address

Section 27: Who will pay for your trip – Employer

Section 31: Guarantor in Korea – The director of your school

i really want a master's degree in japanese language or translation or something. problem is that it's expensive and useless and there's too much on my plate for that right now. how do i talk myself out of this

cultural perspective being indispensible in media consumption but looking back i find it so funny that for years and years before teaching in japan i thought it was another suspension-of-disbelief surrealist kagepro thing that haruka and takane spent all their time in a homeroom class for just the two of them and now the maximum number of kids we've ever had in my special needs class is 3

congrats on making it through grad school twice! understand if you’d rather keep it vague, but what did you study?

I got an M.Ed which is essentially a teaching degree & required for teachers (within the first 5 years of teaching I believe in Massachusetts?) and I got my Masters in English with a certificate in Digital Humanities!!

the little kid i work with escaped the ukraine two years ago. my family immigrated in the 50s/60s to escape the turkish occupation in my papou’s village in greece. and it is both immensely heartbreaking and also insanely healing to help someone the way my grandparents weren’t helped when they got to this country.

So i got some bad news last week re my living situation (my landlord got fed up with a palestinian on his property), and my new potential apartments all have higher rent.

i'm looking for a second job, and considering a loan, but i also just wanted to set up a ko-fi page for a bit more help

Essential Skills for Teaching English to Korean Students

poets as summer jobs I did since I was 11

Pitts - walking the dogs of the neighbours, little  pay but definetly the most enjoyable of all works, because who doesn’t love puppies 

Todd - working in an ice cream shop, got panic attacks sometimes because of too many people, but at least good pay 

Charlie - some bar, didn’t really care about the job, it was just something to do durring summer 

Cameron - teaching  younger kids (probably maths or chemistry) pretty enjoyed it but annoying sometimes lmao

Knox - working in a gift shop by the sea, so he got job and holidays in one (also could watch pretty guys and girls) 

Meeks - another gift shop but this time at the museum, not to much people, good free coffee and could give random facts for customers 10/10

Neil - babysitting! he actually loved this job, he’s very good with kids, and the kids love him <3
