"Map out the question"
John "Soap" MacTavish(2022) x GN! Reader
Warnings: none just fluff, never wrote for a Scottish accent before
Johnny goes a bit extra when popping the question. Use of prompt 12!
For @glitterypirateduck Soap It Up challenge.
Tumblr media
"I'm going to marry ye'"
That was what Johnny said one year into your relationship, you talked about it before and agreed you both liked to get married someday. But you thought he wasn't being totally serious about it considering his friend, Kyle, recently proposed to his partner. But then he couldn't stop mentioning it at least once every month and said he had it all planned out. Again you thought he wasn't being serious...
Another 6 months pass, and he's been quiet about the topic for the last few months. Summer was when he normally went on his yearly biking trip across Scotland (when he wasn't on deployment), and this year was no different. Unfortunately, you couldn't go though you weren't too hung up on it, considering the last time you tried biking with the guy, you almost "died" as you put it.
"So over dramatic," he muses.
You did promise to meet him on the last day of his journey which he seemed to prefer since he said he had a surprise. Claiming it was going to 'knock your socks off.'
"What would that be, you all sweaty and out of breath? Not much of a surprise Johnny," you snickered, deciding to give him a hard time.
"Har har, I guess ye' will just have tae wait and find out," he grinned and wiggled his eyebrows.
"You better take lots of photos and videos," you playfully threatened.
"Aye, I will... I definitely will."
That was a month ago, it was the last day of his journey as he was set to meet you in Glasgow today. You were waiting by the waterside, a bit anxious for his arrival when you heard someone call your name. You turned around and saw him in all his glory, he looked triumphantly at you as you ran over and brought him into a bear hug.
"Miss ye' too," he mumbled into your shoulder, hugging you tightly in one arm while holding his bike with the other.
"How was it? I can see you got a few scrapes..." You pulled back and examined him, grimacing slightly at his legs.
"I'm fine, I'm fine, it was great! Loved seeing the scenery again" he grinned before kissing your cheek. He placed his bike on the railing.
"So, what's that surprise you mentioned before you left? You were hyping it up before your trip," you chirped.
"I'm getting there, I'm getting there..." He paused before speaking again.
"I took some photos like ye' asked, wanna see them now?" He started fishing out his phone from his backpack. You nodded your head, smiling as he brought the phone into your hand. You started scrolling through the album. It was mostly pictures of the scenery he saw and the occasional selfie, but one particular photo caught your eye. It was a screenshot of what looked like a map of Scotland, but that's not what caught your eye. It was the words that were drawn on it.
'Marry me ❤️'
The next photo was of Johnny holding an engagement ring. You slowly brought the phone down and saw Johnny on one knee, holding out the same engagement ring that was in the photo.
"I wasn't joking y'know? I can't imagine my life with anyone else but ye'... yer so beautiful and I find myself lucky every day to have ye' in my life" he expressed, his cheeks turning a soft shade of pink. He seemed shy all of a sudden, fidgeting slightly out of nervousness. Despite this, his eyes were looking at you with so much love and hope.
You were quite speechless yourself, words escaped you for a moment. Your heart felt like it was going to burst from the overwhelming amount of love Johnny was pouring on you. You stared into his eyes before gathering your voice.
"Yes, I'll marry you! Is that even a question??" You beamed, feeling some tears fall but you had the biggest smile on your face. He had the biggest smile on his face as he stood up and delicately placed the ring on your finger, wiping the tears that continued to fall from your eyes.
"Wait... there's no way you went biking across the country just to spell that... right?" You asked.
"Of course I did! I took this very seriously besides I needed to make it memorable and if you still don't believe me I have a video," he explained, going back to the boyish grin he loved giving you.
"Oh, a video you say?" You smiled playfully but brought him closer to you, planting a few kisses on his face before finally kissing him on the lips.
"Well, I needed to one-up Kyle's proposal somehow..." he mumbled into the kiss.
Oh, you gotta be kidding me, MacTavish...
Tumblr media
A/n: So this is my first official long fic on here! I really appreciate any feedback. I was inspired by this story I read about this dude who traveled across Japan and proposed to his partner via drawing out 'Marry me' with a GPS tracker and thought, hey Soap would totally be that extra lmao hope you enjoyed it!

ok so going off of earlier blurb about office!matty sneakily going off to a jewelers and potentially having babies.. what are the thoughts on engaged/married life with him??
the engagement happens at home, after dinner, when you're doing the dishes together and listening to kacey musgraves - the title track from golden hour comes on, and you turn to talk to matty and find him down on one knee with the ring box open and the little scrap of paper from the time copy almost forgot to put your last name in the byline so it looked like you shared matty's. he's like "i love you. i love our life together. i love thinking about our bylines actually looking like this one. will you marry me, darling?", and of COURSE you cry and say yes and crumble to the floor to kiss him and put your new ring on. it's a quick engagement, i think; neither of you want a massive wedding, so it doesn't take too long to plan, and i think you get married somewhere relating to music (whatever the london equivalent of saint luke's in glasgow is) and just have a lovely day with your family and friends, although matty's a sap so there are a lot of happy tears lmfao. but married life is idyllic! just waking up together every morning knowing that he's officially yours and you're officially his... it's dreamy. nothing really changes after you get married, to be honest, other than matty referring to you as his wife whenever he gets the chance - you still work together, and travel a lot, and for the time being you're happy just having the dogs and being cool aunt and uncle to your friends' kids, although i don't think either you nor matty would be particularly against it if you got pregnant. but right now, you're happy with the way things are. he's perfect. life's perfect. adorable <3

Prologue
Letter
To my dearest Lucifer, There are no words that I can say to you, other than "I'm sorry." I have grown to hate myself to a degree that I fear would cause you endless suffering. Ever since my "death," I have slipped further and further from my humanity to become an cruel existence driven only by my own desire. It is a selfish thing. A terribly, irrevocably selfish thing. But, after all, I think Elizabeth was correct, both in the past as well as now. I have never been selfless once in my life. Maybe this was expected from the moment I entered the Devildom. Maybe you've been putting on an elaborate act, as much as I don't want to believe it. I have done too many things I regret. I ask with every fibre of my being that you do not look for me. I ask with every ounce of my soul that you forget about my existence. This is our parting. Te amo. Annelie Glasgow
[ 6 weeks earlier ]
Annelie: Lucifer, you really are unbelievable... I can't believe you asked for my parents' blessing right under my nose.
Lucifer: If you knew about it, it wouldn't be a surprise.
Annelie: Still though!
Satan: God, just shut up and be happy, you idiot.
Belphie: Yeah, I think we're all tired of hearing about how carefully Lucifer orchestrated that whole thing so that no one knew about it.
Mammon scratches the back of his neck, looking sheepish. Levi notices.
Levi: No freaking way... how did you of all people know about it?!
Asmo: Oh...
Levi: What? Oh?
Asmo: You remember how Lucifer took some time away from Ellie after Mammon burned dinner the one night?
Mammon: Hey, I didn't ruin all of it!
Levi: What? Are you saying-
Lucifer: Yes, I had Mammon give me a second opinion on the engagement ring I was buying for Annelie.
Levi: But why Mammon?
Mammon: Hehe, obviously because I have good taste.
Lucifer: No. I used your suggestions as things I should avoid.
Mammon: ...you could've let me dream a little...
Lucifer: I think Annelie has already made it clear that she doesn't like flashy or gaudy things.
Annelie: I mean... I would have been fine with a piece of string, honestly; you didn't have to go through this much trouble... I mean it's very beautiful, don't get me wrong-
Lucifer: Oh, hush and let me give you something nice.
Lucifer pats her back.
Annelie: Then... I'll buy the rings!
Lucifer: No, Diavolo's already insisted that he's the one who will do that.
Annelie: What? Why?
Lucifer: ...he was very excited and insisted on taking care of all the details. I have a feeling he's going to make our wedding a much larger affair than I want it to be...
Annelie: This coming from the man who proposed to me in one of the most flashy ways possible.
Lucifer blushes.
Lucifer: I- Look! I was planning to do it here! But then I found out people seem to think that you're seducing me for political power!
Belphie: Well, not entirely incorrect, given the shit I've heard...
Asmo: Yeah, I never would have imagined our Lucifer was a switch <3
Satan: Please. Stop. Talking.
Levi: Your room isn't even close to theirs, Satan. I have to go to sleep with headphones on.
Asmo: Aw, but Ellie's so cute when she screams~
Lucifer: ...Annelie.
Annelie: Please no.
Lucifer: Do you remember the Quiet Game?
Annelie: Please don't do this just because you're jealous.
Lucifer: I'm not jealous. Although I will be sure to see Asmo later about this.
Asmo: Eh? Lucifer? Why? My room's right across from yours, so it's not like I can help it. Lucifer?
Lucifer smiles.
Asmo: ;;;;;
Annelie: ;;;;;;;;;

So SC hide the bulk of their children and come out having had an only son so fans don’t realise they were duped the entire production. Not sure that’s about putting your little ones first. More about fretting over your own image, navel gazing and over thinking.
odessa-2
Image is everything in Hollywood. Optics are important to SC. They obviously have tried to project a certain image of themselves over this past decade which has no room for their children. I don't think it's an a image Sam initially accepted but nonetheless he ran with it as did Cait. The toast can't be untoasted. The lies, fake marriage and baby McGill have already happened. Their repeated denial of their children has already happened. Sam denying he is a father has already happened and is highlighted in his memoir where he attempts to offer an explanation as to why such a handsome accomplished gentlemen such as himself who is as close as can be with his costar has remained chronically single. They ain't ever coming out with children imo. They can't. It's too late. They shat where they slept.
haniawarchol
Well after the season 7 interviews & successful interaction by S&C with the public & then seeing the men in blue, & the CEO making a point to show his presence and how everything changes when they are being watched. I think S&C have been controlled by them & many of us have been blind to this. That is why their lives & boos have been hushed up.
monimarim
IMO there’s more going on than what we think. Our scenario is too precise, considering how little we actually know. It’s clear SC are lying and hiding the kids and I don’t doubt tptb and certain perks they got have a lot to do with it, but I also think SC’s protective instincts as parents, especially Cait’s, are a reason for the narrative. IMO they also fear the kids could not have a normal, or even a safe life if the wackos in the fandom knew they’re Sam’s. They’ll never admit the truth.
poughkeepsielass
Yes, the safety of their kids has to come first, hence, the decoy property outside Glasgow. Of course, it will be the first explanation they trot out to explain the farce they live, but it’s always nice to get a “twofer” and no wife and no kids for Sam allows for the image of the 43 year old f*uckboy and that is the image that sells 3 packs of gin to his best fans.
margareth-lv
That's the bitter truth, there are no good options here. Long ago they lost their dignity and integrity. "Baby B was the real icing on the cake.
LMFAO
Bedlam was packed with rational conversations compared to these posts.
This is why no one can take any of them seriously. Their arguments lack any sense.
There was never need for C to fake a wedding or a marriage. Sure there have been fake engagements... between celebs. For attention. To hide any relationship a ring was enough. Nevermind the wedding actually happened and the marriage was actually officially registered.
Now the kids. If she had hidden 4 or 5 kids over the years it makes no sense at all that she will "out" one of them. One public the rest hidden. Even crazy shippers can't come up with a single valid reason for this.
It's nuts, like the lot of them.

Tumblr media
Your wedding day is one of the most special and memorable moments in your life. Every detail, from the dress to the decor, contributes to making the occasion unforgettable. One of the most significant elements of a bride's attire is the bridal jewellery. The right pieces can add elegance, sparkle, and sophistication, completing your bridal look. If you're getting married in Glasgow, you're in luck – the city is home to a range of talented jewellers offering exquisite bridal jewellery options that will leave you breathless. In this blog post, we’ll explore some of the best bridal jewellery Glasgow has to offer and help you find the perfect pieces for your big day.
The Importance of Bridal Jewellery
When it comes to your wedding ensemble, your jewellery isn’t just an accessory – it’s an expression of your style, personality, and love story. Bridal jewellery serves not only to enhance your bridal gown but also to reflect your unique tastes and celebrate the occasion. Whether you're seeking traditional elegance or a more modern and unique look, the right jewellery can complete your wedding day aesthetic.
From sparkling diamond necklaces and shimmering earrings to delicate bracelets and stunning tiaras, bridal jewellery adds an extra layer of glamour to your bridal look. It’s important to choose pieces that complement your dress, makeup, and hairstyle. A well-selected piece can draw attention to your face, enhance your gown’s design, and tie everything together seamlessly.
Bridal Jewellery Glasgow – A Hub for Beauty and Craftsmanship
Glasgow is one of the most vibrant cities in Scotland, known for its rich cultural heritage and thriving arts scene. This creative environment extends to the jewellery industry, where Glasgow-based jewellers have gained a reputation for creating stunning, high-quality bridal jewellery that makes every bride feel like royalty.
Whether you’re looking for custom-designed jewellery or timeless pieces from renowned designers, Glasgow offers a wide variety of bridal jewellery options. The city is home to a number of jewellery stores that specialize in wedding jewellery, with collections that range from classic to contemporary. In this section, we’ll dive into the types of bridal jewellery you can find in Glasgow and how to choose pieces that will make your wedding day unforgettable.
Classic and Timeless Bridal Jewellery
For many brides, a classic and timeless look is the way to go. If you love the idea of traditional elegance, Glasgow has an array of jewellery stores offering stunning diamond-studded necklaces, vintage-inspired earrings, and intricate bracelets that never go out of style. Whether you prefer white gold, platinum, or silver, these precious metals are often paired with diamonds, pearls, and other gemstones to create pieces that exude sophistication and grace.
Modern and Unique Designs
On the other hand, some brides may seek something a little more modern and unique. Glasgow’s jewellery designers are incredibly creative, offering innovative designs that push the boundaries of traditional bridal jewellery. From statement necklaces with bold gemstones to art-deco-inspired earrings, there are countless pieces for brides who want to make a statement.
Additionally, many jewellery stores in Glasgow offer bespoke services, allowing you to work with a jeweller to design your perfect bridal jewellery. This personal touch ensures that your jewellery will be one-of-a-kind, reflecting your individuality and style. Whether you're after a custom-made engagement ring or a necklace that perfectly complements your dress, there’s no shortage of opportunities to get exactly what you envision.
Sustainable and Ethical Bridal Jewellery
In today’s world, many brides are increasingly concerned about the ethical implications of their jewellery purchases. If sustainability and ethics are important to you, Glasgow offers a variety of jewellers who prioritize eco-friendly and ethically sourced materials. Many jewellery stores in the city specialize in creating pieces with ethically mined diamonds, recycled metals, and conflict-free gemstones.
Choosing sustainable bridal jewellery doesn’t mean you have to compromise on beauty or quality. In fact, many sustainable pieces are just as stunning as their traditional counterparts, and they come with the added satisfaction of knowing that your wedding jewellery was made with care for both people and the planet.
How to Choose the Right Bridal Jewellery in Glasgow ?
Choosing the right bridal jewellery is a personal and sometimes overwhelming decision. There are several factors to consider, and the options in Glasgow are endless. Here are some helpful tips to guide you in selecting the perfect pieces for your wedding day:
1. Match Your Jewellery to Your Dress
Your bridal gown plays a significant role in determining the jewellery you should wear. If you have a simple, minimalist dress, you may want to choose statement jewellery to add some drama and sparkle. On the other hand, if your dress is heavily embellished or features intricate detailing, it may be best to opt for more delicate, understated jewellery that won’t compete with your gown.
2. Consider Your Bridal Style
Your overall bridal style should influence your jewellery choices. If you're going for a classic look, diamonds, pearls, and simple gold or platinum settings will work beautifully. If you're after a boho-chic vibe, consider layering necklaces, stacking rings, and adding some unconventional gemstone colours. For a modern, edgy style, you can experiment with bold shapes, mixed metals, and alternative gemstones.
3. Think About Your Hairstyle
Your hairstyle can also affect the type of jewellery that will suit you best. If you’re wearing your hair up in an elegant updo, consider wearing drop earrings or a delicate tiara that will complement your hairstyle. For a loose, flowing hairstyle, you might want to opt for smaller, simpler earrings to avoid overwhelming your look.
4. Set a Budget
Bridal jewellery comes in a wide range of prices, from affordable pieces to high-end designer creations. Setting a budget is crucial to narrowing down your options and ensuring that you don’t overspend. Luckily, Glasgow offers bridal jewellery at various price points, so you’re sure to find beautiful pieces that fit your budget.
Conclusion – Make Your Wedding Day Shine with Bridal Jewellery Glasgow
Your wedding day is a once-in-a-lifetime event, and the jewellery you wear should be as special as the occasion itself. Whether you're drawn to classic elegance, modern flair, or eco-conscious designs, Glasgow offers an abundance of options for bridal jewellery that will make you feel beautiful, confident, and radiant on your big day.
By choosing pieces that reflect your personality and complement your wedding attire, you can create a look that is truly your own. So, take your time, explore the many jewellery stores in Glasgow, and find the perfect bridal jewellery that will make your wedding day shine.

What Are Lab-Grown Diamonds? A Comprehensive Guide
Tumblr media
Lab-grown diamonds, also known as synthetic or cultured diamonds, are gemstones created in controlled environments using advanced technological processes. These diamonds are chemically, physically, and optically identical to natural diamonds but differ in origin and often in price.
How Lab-Grown Diamonds Are Made
Lab-grown diamonds are produced using two primary methods:
High-Pressure High-Temperature (HPHT)
A small diamond seed is placed in carbon and subjected to extreme pressure (over 1.5 million psi) and high temperatures (up to 2,600°F or 1,427°C).
The carbon melts around the seed, crystallizing to form a diamond.
This method closely mimics the natural diamond formation process in the Earth's mantle.
Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD)
A diamond seed is placed in a chamber filled with carbon-rich gas (like methane).
The chamber is heated to about 800°C (1,472°F), causing the gas to break down and carbon atoms to deposit onto the seed, forming a diamond layer by layer.
CVD diamonds often undergo post-growth treatments to enhance clarity or color.
Properties of Lab-Grown Diamonds
Lab-grown diamonds share the same:
Chemical Composition: Pure carbon arranged in a crystalline structure.
Hardness: 10 on the Mohs scale, making them equally durable.
Optical Properties: They exhibit the same brilliance, fire, and scintillation.
Certification: Lab-grown diamonds can be graded by reputable organizations like GIA or IGI.
How Lab-Grown Diamonds Differ from Natural Diamonds
Origin:
Natural diamonds are mined from the Earth and take billions of years to form.
Lab-grown diamonds are produced in weeks or months.
Price:
Lab-grown diamonds are typically 30-50% less expensive than natural diamonds due to lower production and supply chain costs.
Environmental Impact:
Lab-grown diamonds are considered more sustainable as they don't require mining, which can have significant environmental and social implications.
Inclusions:
Both types may have inclusions, but lab-grown diamonds sometimes show unique patterns (like metallic inclusions from the HPHT process) detectable with specialized equipment.
Lab-Grown Diamonds: A Luxurious Choice in Glasgow
For those seeking Luxury diamonds Glasgow, lab-grown diamonds offer a modern and ethical alternative without compromising on quality or aesthetics. Perfect for engagement rings or fine jewelry, they cater to a discerning clientele who value both sustainability and affordability.
Lab-grown diamonds have revolutionized the diamond industry, combining cutting-edge technology with timeless beauty, making them an excellent choice for today’s luxury market.

‘The Tartan Tornado’ and ‘El Gato’ look to settle the score at the First Direct Arena in Leeds.  Taylor-Catterall II will stream live and exclusively on ESPN+ in the U.S.
LEEDS, England — After more than two years of waiting, bitter rivals Josh Taylor and Jack Catterall will finally meet in a hugely anticipated rematch at the First Direct Arena in Leeds on Saturday, April 27, shown live on DAZN in the UK and around the world and exclusively on ESPN+ in the U.S.   The enemies have been embroiled in a heated war of words since February 2022, when they met on an unforgettable night at The OVO Hydro Arena in Glasgow for Taylor’s undisputed junior welterweight world title. Intense debate has raged in the aftermath of their first fight, when Scotland’s Taylor (19-1, 13 KOs) protected his unbeaten record with a hugely controversial split decision win to retain his crown.   During a pulsating battle, Taylor was cut twice by the left eye and was put down by Catterall in the 8th round before he was deducted one point in the 11th for punching after the bell. Catterall, meanwhile, was deducted one point for holding in the 10th.   Chorley’s ‘El Gato’ (28-1, 13 KOs) appeared to outbox Taylor for long periods but ultimately tasted defeat for the first time in his career after Taylor clung onto his titles. The decision caused outrage among some boxing fans and the two have been at loggerheads ever since.   Following his clash with Catterall, ‘The Tartan Tornado’ relinquished his WBC, IBF and WBA world titles due to pending mandatory orders – and then lost his WBO crown to a resurgent Teofimo Lopez in New York City last June.   Catterall ended a 15-month ring absence by widely outpointing Irishman Darragh Foley over ten-rounds at the Manchester’s AO Arena in May 2023 before sending multi-weight world champion Jorge Linares into retirement after dominating the Venezuelan legend over 12 rounds in Liverpool last October.   In what is one of the most eagerly anticipated rematches in modern British boxing history, the fierce rivals will go head-to-head once more in a 12-round junior welterweight contest on neutral territory - with plenty of bad blood and animosity guaranteed in a blockbuster build-up.   “I’ve never run from anyone in my life, especially not Jack Catterall,” Taylor said. “He has spent the last two years running from promoter to promoter while living off my name. Jack should be careful what he wishes for because he’s getting battered on April 27. I am going to enjoy every second of this. See you soon, Jack.” “I’ve wanted this fight since the moment the scorecards got read out in Glasgow,” Catterall said . “A few people say ‘move on Jack’, and that’s easy to say to when you’re not in my position. I get asked every day of my life multiple times a day, ‘when are you fighting Taylor again?’. This isn’t about belts, this is personal to me, and I can’t wait to get my hands on him. I don’t like him, I don’t respect him and on April 27 I’m going to end him.”  "I’m so happy to get this fight made," said Matchroom Sport Chairman Eddie Hearn. "British boxing has been crying out for a big fight and now we look to settling the score of one of the most bitter rivalries in the sport. It will be nearly 2 years to the day since their controversial ndisputed fight and not a day has past where opinion and debate has not ensued. The pair have engaged in a back and forth full of hatred and now the time has come to finally meet again in Leeds on April 27. Despite the offers to stage this fight on PPV, I am proud that Matchroom and DAZN have stepped up make this fight available to subscribers as part of their subscription and I can’t wait for the intense build up and a huge event on April 27." “This is the ultimate grudge match between two of the world’s top 140-pounders,” said Top Rank Chairman Bob Arum. “These two warriors will settle the score in front of what I’m sure will be an incredible crowd in Leeds. If you look at Josh Taylor’s career, he has never, ever backed down from a challenge, and he will be in peak form on April 27.”

scar
When it happens, Benji is fresh off his twentieth birthday. When it happens, Benji tries to crawl away. He’s shaking and terrified and loose at the seams, gone from it but so fucking present that there’s no feasible escape. Physical or otherwise.
His ears are ringing. He’s dragged back, hands fisting his ankles, fingers tight in his torn fatigues — no, no, captain’s gonna be pissed, they’ll need to req more, they hate little boring shit like that — and someone laughs at his cowardice, his sobs. Upright again, in the dark, in a room that smells of his compatriot’s blood, his friend’s blood. Sharp and coppery. Reeks like piss too, because that’s what happened when bodies were made. When people are killed.
His ears are ringing.
They might hurt us. They might hurt me. Benji’d been thinking. They might kill me, too, he’s thinking now. They might do worse.
And then — then that fucking knife against his cheek. Cold and cruel, just as icy as the laughter. Just as inhuman.
Mum’s gonna hate that. Scar’ll be bad, huh? She’ll hate that. She’ll cry.
That settles in him, the realization. Spreads frigid from the digging kiss of the blade into his skull, washes his tear-streaked face clean of warm panic. Benji stills in his struggles, tied hands behind his back going slack.
It’s not peace or acceptance. It’s anger. The sort of anger that feels like being crushed between two sweaty fists, molded in the creases, unable to catch breath. Unable to do anything but be shaped. Made worse.
His ears are ringing.
Benji makes it worse, himself.
*
The medic that treats him isn’t a stranger. He is a man that Benji recognizes, that he knows, and that, given a few more conversations, he might call a friend. He’s from Glasgow. Has two sisters. He can’t remember their names. Can’t remember the medic’s name.
Can barely remember his.
He’s given Benji an ice pack for a bruised rib, pressed a butterfly closure bandage over a cut above his eyebrow, and engaged in small talk about the great Manchester versus Liverpool debate.
Keeping him calm. Being soft. Because Benji’s been tortured, because he’s fragile, because he needs a soft soothe and a familiar face.
While he talks, a flap of skin hangs from the spot on his cheek where the knife had dug in. Where Benji had dug in the knife, rather. Stared right up at his captor, eyes dull dull dull, and leaned in. Split the flesh himself.
He can see it now, that fissure. Can see right down to the sinew of muscle. Never again will that spot rise correctly when he smiles.
The cut is on the wrong side of his face. It’s mirrored in the sleek, clean glass of a cabinet across the room. Benji is staring at himself in it. Blood drips down his face, collects in the corner of his mouth. Tastes sharp. Tastes coppery.
Benji reaches up to touch the wound. Check if it’s real, maybe. It is. He presses his fingertips to it —  magic it away. But it’s there. It’s permanent, just as the change he feels bubbling in his chest is permanent.
The medic makes a disapproving, reprimanding noise. He steps in front of Benji. Cuts off that reflection. And he, this man who Benji knows but doesn’t, closes his fingers around Benji’s wrist.
Maybe to pull his hand away, maybe to comfort. Maybe he’s seen the hint of something wrong in Benji’s distant, dark glazed eyes and thinks he needs to stop him from tearing the rest of himself apart.
Whatever the reason, the second those fingers close around his wrist, Benji’s vision whites. He pulls away from the moment like he hadn’t been able to pull away from the last.
He’s seething cold, brutal refrains of “I don’t like being touched that way” when the other medics pull him off. His knuckles are bloody, feel sore, will bruise. One, his left ring finger, will forever bother him in the cold. Go stiff, need flexed before it’s useful. He’d broken it on the man’s orbital bone.
Not the worst injury in the room. The jagged tear down his face isn’t, either.
He gets a glimpse of the man on the ground as they pull him away somewhere else for treatment. What’s left of him, anyway. He's haloed by a red smear against the tile. It is the third life Benji has ever taken. It won’t be the last.
Huh. He thinks as a different, more nervous medic gently pats the skin back into place and goes about stitching. I killed him. His name was James. We’ve fucked before. I've just killed him. His sisters names’ are Sarah and Grace. I just killed him.
He defects the next week.
*
Fucking and killing.
There is a body beneath him.
Benji straddles it, leans closer to find its face. With carefully cupped hands, he slides his fingers around the back of a neck. Tips petting down the rounded edge of the skull. Presses a sweaty, firm touch to the soft and vulnerable and warm flesh where bone curves inwards. He brings their foreheads together, panting breath melding, and gazes into eyes an assortment of colors. Until recently, he hasn’t much cared for specifics in that regard.
What he likes best about this, pinning a gaze with his own, is watching that flickering spark. He likes seeing the light build bright, fearful pleasure and pleasurable fear alike. He likes watching eyes roll back, whites flashing, a mouth parted wide and gaping, gasping.
Benji will drop a palm, trace it down a firm flat chest, calloused fingers rough and catching on fabric and buckles or skin and muscle. He’ll use his free hand to guide it in.
Knife or cock. Doesn’t matter. Fuck or kill. Doesn’t matter. People tend not to enjoy thinking about how similar those are, but Benji does.
Benji enjoys thinking about it quite a lot.

Epilogue
Diavolo: Ah, ah? Testing. There we are. To our dear students attending the Royal Academy of Diavolo, we have called you together today to make an important announcement.
Students that had been talking to each other in hushed and occasionally loud tones grow quiet. They look up at Diavolo on his podium.
Diavolo: It has come to our attention that many rumors are circulating about the demon that was known as Corde Lia, a vampire from the distinguished Erimav family that offers this academy, as well as myself, their very souls. Their brother, Hter Ric, has since been spreading a false rumor about Lia's confrontation with another student.
Hter: I daresay it wasn't false. My sibling is dead, are they not?
Diavolo raises one hand, and Hter reluctantly backs down.
Diavolo: I am getting to that. We will begin with what is correct. Corde Lia was killed by Annelie Glasgow after a confrontation. However, this confrontation was not instigated by her, nor was this killing intentional. Lia sexually harassed Ms. Glasgow and actively practiced species-related discrimination, despite knowing that Ms. Glasgow is in a committed relationship with our Vice-President, Lucifer.
Diavolo's brows furrow.
Diavolo: As such, Ms. Glasgow will be suspended from all academy activities for one week. I, as prince of the Devildom and as president of the academy, formally apologize to the family of Corde Lia, who grieves for their lost child.
Diavolo: However, I also believe I have made it very clear that I will protect those whose voices otherwise go unheard. There are 5 succubi, including Ms. Glasgow, in this entire academy. The number of incubi is even less. We as the student council, and I personally, not as a prince or a president but as a proud member of the demonic race, beg you not to indulge in familiar assumptions. Thank you.
Clapping slowly resounds in scattered areas of the crowd, then spreads to its majority as Lucifer and Annelie step forward from the crowd. Hter is noticeably restraining his anger, begging to tear Annelie to bits.
Diavolo: Lucifer, I now hand things off to you.
Diavolo covers the mic.
Diavolo: And please, seriously, do not threaten anyone else with death while you're speaking. That is not a surprise I want today.
Lucifer: I wasn't going to; rest assured.
Diavolo's hand leaves the mic, and he steps backward to allow Lucifer into the light. Annelie fidgets behind him nervously.
Why am I even here? I'm not going to speak, right?
Lucifer: Diavolo has already covered all student conduct topics that I had wished to address. However, because there still seems to be some kind of misconception regarding my relationship with Annelie Glasgow, let me make it perfectly clear for all of you now.
Lucifer drags Annelie away from the podium, well within view of hostile, neutral and friendly demons. She keeps looking at the crowd uneasily, then at Lucifer.
Annelie: (Softly) What are you doing?
Lucifer gets down on one knee, and a collective, excited gasp from everyone present makes the room feel as if a giant had inhaled. Lucifer pulls out a small, velvet box, popping it open for Annelie to reveal a stunning marquise-cut engagement ring. Several girls in the crowd scream. Annelie gapes stupidly at it like a fish out of water.
Lucifer: Annelie, you came into my life without me even wanting it. I thought you were an impudent girl that just liked stealing my bed. I was foolish. You have the gall to lecture me, insult me, and even baby me. You have the libido that drives me to borderline madness. And, even though your heart is fragile... you placed it in my hands and trusted me with your everything. You made me believe that I could do the same.
Annelie raises her hands to her smiling mouth and starts to cry, trying not to laugh out of joy (and his cheesiness).
Lucifer: You've made my family feel at ease, and for once in my life, the moniker "The Morning Star" seems to feel as if it describes me. So, Annelie... Will you, for the rest of your life, choose to marry me and officially become my wife?
Annelie: Yes. Yes, you silly demon, I love you. Hurry up and put that ring on so I can hug you.
Lucifer chuckles to himself as he slides the ring onto her finger.
Lucifer: Impatient as always, aren't we?
Annelie: Oh stop it and c'mere. Let me kiss you.
The great majority of the crowd loudly cheers, several demons whistling and screaming as Annelie and Lucifer share a long, sweet kiss, enjoying each other's embrace.
Lucifer: I'm never going to lose you again.
Annelie: Likewise. No more cursed grimoires. No more brotherly secrets. No more magic diseases. We'll just have a peaceful life together...
I'll make sure of it.
