1, 3, 5, 9, 10, 12, 13, 18, 19, 20, 22, 25, 31, 36, 44, 46, 49 SABRI BLAST!! SABRI ATTACK!!
SABRI BLAST! SABRI ATTACK! [ask game]
1. How old is Rook?
Sabri is 28!
3. What was Rook’s life before their faction?
didn't have one SHOUTOUT CRYPT BABY! no i guess she's always just... been in the Mourn Watch. She was raised with them and doesn't remember anything prior to it.
5. What was life like for Rook before joining the Veilguard?
Pretty... tame? She spent a lot of her time just. Researching. She definitely cleansed the occasional haunting and restless undead, which is WHY she became a warrior. A lot of studying and reading mostly. She spent a lot of time researching necromancy in theory, even though she could never actually perform the magic herself. Also she likes studying insects. SHE GOT THAT WHIMSY IN HER !!!!
9. What is Rook like on the battlefield?
She's strong and pretty good at anticipating where and when an enemy would strike. She's spent a lot of time observing how different armies, factions, types of people fight. Of course that can't give you everything, but she's pretty good at thinking ahead like cornering an enemy to the edge of a cliff/rooftop/etc and kicking them off. SHE WANTS TO PLAN EVERYTHING OUT SO BAD
10. Does Rook know their history? Do they know of the HoF, Hawke, the Inquisitor?
SABRI HEARTS THE HERO OF FERELDEN EMIRA TABRIS!!!!!! no but seriously she knows of them. She thinks Chloe also rocks because like "Woagh a blood mage became the champion of kirkwall? That's cool I wonder if the public knew" then asks varric and varric lies bc he's protecting hawke 5ever.
She knows of the Inquisitor too but. Less. Mostly heard about his alliance with Cassandra because OooOoOoh did you know a PENTAGHAST is helping the inquisition? Crazy
12. Does Rook have any family? Do they keep in touch?
Not that Sabri knows of. No family ties by blood she's ever met
13. Did Rook bring any trinkets/sentimental items to The Lighthouse?
She has an emblem in the shape of a beetle. Beetles are prized in Nevarra and allegedly brings good luck. She always keeps it on her
18. Their fondest childhood memory:
When Sabri was around 7 or 8 years old she tried talking with wisps for the first time. She was too shy at first, having been told that dwarves can't do magic so it might be more difficult to summon or communicate with them. One night she was feeling very brave and asked one of her mage friends to help her find and connect with wisps.
After a long trek to find them in a room, Sabri sat down on the floor and started talking to them. She spent that whole night talking the (metaphorical) ears of those wisps who very eagerly flew about around her while she rambled.
19. What is Rook’s love language? What love languages do they respond best to?
I'd say quality time and physical touch definitely. she's a cuddle bug that wants to spend time with those she loves damn it! in terms of reacting i would also words of affirmation. she goes real well on that
20. What’s it like to see them smile? Their laugh?
Sabri's smile is very warm, always genuine. If she doesn't have a reason to smile she doesn't, every time she smiles or laughs she gets a crinkle in her nose. Her laugh is loud and shameless, she isn't afraid to let you know she is happy, and it's definitely infectious.
22. Most embarrassing memory as a teenager:
Oh man trying to invent some kind of mechanical entrapment that would give dwarves the ability to mimic necromancy when she was 17. She spent months, almost a full year, trying to build a skeletal set of armour that would have necrotic magic infused in the palms of it's hands so it would deal necrotic damage, and hopefully be able to raise and speak with the dead because of the magic.
Loooong story short, after the help of a professor to mimic the spellcasting, the necrotic powers in the palms overloaded and exploded. Her hands hurt like hell for weeks and she was too embarrassed to walk out of her quarters for two weeks straight.
25. How does Rook like to spend their free time?
Reading! Researching! She loves learning things and reading stories!!! SHE WANTS IN ON THE VEILGUARD BOOK CLUB NEOW!!!!!!
31. What specialization does Rook pursue? What called them to it?
Reaper! Because MOURN WATCH FOREVER AND ALWAYS!!!!! RAGHHH. No but seriously she was kind of already training for this as an apprentice in the necropolis anyway, it just seemed... right.
36. What would Rook say are their flaws?
Sabri believes she is too soft. Not as willing to fight or kill as she should be. She would also feel herself too... dwarf-y. She loves being a dwarf, the traditions and cultures from Orzammar, definitely believes in the Stone. But she feels so inadequate to be part of the Mourn Watch. Even the non-mages at least can dream, she can't even do that. No connection to the Fade. What good is a Mourn Watcher with no connection to the Fade?
44. What is Rook really good at?
Sketching! It's mostly mechanical sketches, studies, that she usually does. She keeps a journal where sketches everything that catches her eye, and if she's lucky she can take it with her and study it up close.
46. What does it take to earn Rook’s trust?
Helping people, honouring the deceased in ways appropriate to the deceased person (respecting different costumes from different cultures in that front), being nice to insects and animals.
49. What will always make them laugh?
Assan. Also dad jokes and puns (That whole segment with the giant stone hand.)

WHEN: several hours into the ball WHO:  @fxerily
Tumblr media
time seemed to move slower than usual, perhaps simply because asril would have preferred to have been anywhere but at the ball. had his father bothered to make a lasting appearance, then he would have tried to escape hours ago, but unsurprisingly he'd been nowhere to be found. and it left the high lord to fulfill a commitment that was not truly his own.
he grabbed a filled glass of fairy wine off a tray as it passed him and eagerly took a gulp. it was sweet and refreshing as it went down his throat and the liquid warmed his belly. his eyes scanned the room as they had so many other times that evening, however, this time his gaze settled on a face they'd been praying to the gods he could avoid. lucky enough for him, up until that very moment, asril hadn't crossed paths with any of emira's remaining family members. but there theodoros was and it pained him to know it was the closest he'd ever be again to seeing her. her features had been so similar, the eyes and the jawline were incomparable and it only brought back an unwelcome flood of memories. times he'd found himself getting lost in her sparkling eyes or the way her soft skin felt beneath his fingers.
it took everything within him to avert his gaze from him and push the unwanted recollections from his mind. it pained asril to remember her but believed to forget her would be even worse. the high lord took another large gulp feeling a panic begin to take hold of his mind.

Krota returns to the Muzaori Village.
Tumblr media
Krota made it back to the Muzaori Village safely with all limbs still attached, she was welcomed back into the village eagerly by Emira, the youngest daughter of the clan's head mistress, who was most excited to see what Krota brought back from the hunt... rabbit stew is definitely on the menu for lunch tomorrow!
Krota's master, Mazu just happen to be nearby, calmly fishing in the lake, from the balcony, Emira got fed up with warning him not to fish from the balcony past the railing and decided to ignore him as there are more important matters to attend to.

location: silent auction night history: currently emira is in attendance with ben blackwood who she is dating. though her friendship with baelon has grown as a result and she considered him a close friend.
@firemadeflxsh
the silent auction night was unfolding smoothly, a resounding success for the school. the air buzzed with excitement as people eagerly threw their money around, bidding on everything in sight. some items struck her as utter junk, but who was she to judge? she was certain there were things she had recently purchased that would make others roll their eyes.
emira gave ben’s hand a gentle squeeze before slipping away, needing a brief respite from the frenzy of bidding. as she scanned the crowded room, her gaze landed on baelon, who was casually browsing through the items on display. she gracefully made her way through the throng of people, her presence commanding attention as she let others move aside to let her pass, some doing it instinctually for her.
reaching baelon’s side, she greeted him with a warm smile. since she started dating ben, she had spent more and more time with baelon, discovering a genuine friendship beyond their shared passion for music as they had even collaborated on a few music projects.
"listen," she began, her voice light with amusement, "i'm 99% sure ben is going to try to buy up half of this auction tonight. we’re going to need ten more suitcases just to haul back everything he gets." she chuckled, taking a sip of her wine, her eyes sparkling with humor. "what about you? anything catching your eye?"

"Boscha would still kill you," Emira joked. "She'd be so mad. You know she always expects everyone to get up and dance at least once at her parties."
For the time being, she was going to actively avoid the topic of kids and hopefully it would blow over. It was a difficult subject for her; she knew that it was something they'd have to discuss eventually. "I get that, it's just different. It changed after my parents split but I'm still not super good at all the domestic stuff," she noted.
When he returned with the bowls, she smiled and accepted one eagerly before taking a sip from her spoon. "Oh, that's good."
"I would still go. I would just have to go in a cast." He teases, playfully sticking out his tongue. "Though that doesn't mean I want to injure myself." He would state. He was going to do all that he could to stay as healthy as possible.
Her reaction at the mention of kids wasn't what he expected, and he felt bad about it. He knew that she would be a much better mom than her mother was to her, but he wasn't going to push the subject.
"Having someone else assigned to do it makes it feels that it's being done to maintain an appearance. Just how I feel about it. We clean it because it is our home and we're proud of it and we don't want to get sick. You work harder for the most part, so you shouldn't have to do much work when you get home." He would move and sit down beside the couch on the side of the couch closest to Emira's head.
As he was going to rest his left hand in her right hand, the timer goes off. "Dinner's ready." He would go up to serve it in two bowls and sets each bowl on a plate with a spoon in each bowl before bringing both bowls over.

Young Blight pranks
In past when little Amity and Emira were helping the abomination servant screw in the light in their manor Emira decided to play a little game and tell “Mittens” a little story to distract her from her mischief. Emira begins telling all the siblings while Ed is getting into position.
“So I had this really strange dream last night that I'm at a fancy restaurant, but everybody's eating desert, and I turn around and Edric is there, and he's with a date, and that date is a purple turkey. And then we all started laughing, and then I woke up.”  Amity nods not really paying her sister much mind handing her the light. Both speak. “Here.” Emira smiles proud of herself. “Jinx! We said it at the same time! Hahaha!” Amity’s little face scrunches up at her. “Huh?” Then her sister pinches and pokes her tummy.   “Pinch, poke. You owe me a soft drink!” Amity fell over on the floor then stood up to complain to her. “Emmy! Why did you do that! I was doing something!” Her sister just shushes her and holds her hand out waving it.
"Uh-Uh! Mittens, you can't talk until I say your name. Don't you know the rules of Jinx?” This left the younger witch in a pout crossing her arms grumbling at her sister turning away from her. Emira smirked and waited for her eagerly! Both spoke right on cue.
“I don’t wanna play!” at the same time. “Double jinx!” Amity started to complain even more-”You can’t just-” She was interrupted by her big sis doing the same action again  “Pinch, poke. You owe me another trademarked Soft drink.” and this time Edric came into the room leaning his hand up against the wall comfortably sipping a juice box.
“Aww! Come on-!”
“Stop it!”   All three siblings at the same time as “Ah, triple jinx!” Em shouted laughter Ed stopped sipping to help his twin out both laughing at Amity having their fun. “Too easy!” Edric bragged and Emira nodded they both high-fived one another. Poor Mittens opened her mouth to speak but both her sister and brother made a pinching motion with their fingers Em the pinching and Ed the poking!  She had no choice but to cover her mouth fearful that they would pinch and poke her again. She was getting tired from this back and forth her toes pointed together while Ed patted her brown hair brotherly.
“Okay, okay. I'll say your name.” Em promised her little sister then proceeded to do so as slow as possible. Annoying the younger girl further while she keep making faces at her and Amity making “Sped it up” gestures since she couldn’t talk. Edric trying not to burst out in laughter at the whole thing.
“Ah... Am... im... it...”
Angered red face all over Amity!  Aaam...mitt...Amity!”
Amity shouted loudly at the top of her little lungs.
“FINALLY!”
Ed & EM fell to the floor laughing at their little joke then they grabbed her and hugged her sweetly. “Aww don’t be mad little sister.” They both said together as twins often do She had to give a smile when they did this she took a breath and her face returned to normal and she hugged them back.
“Jinx!” Amity pointed at her two twin siblings smiling all cute.

Yandere!Golden Guard x Reader x Yandere! Edric Blight- Golden Psychopathic Lovers
Request by @fLoweRcaSe00 on Wattpad It was a new year at Hexside. Another year of school for Y/N. Clutching her books tightly, her nervous mind fluttered to all the terrible things that could happen on her first day back. She jumped as she felt a hand tap her shoulder. “Hey kitten. Been a while, hasn’t it?” A smooth voice whispered into her ear. Turning around, Y/N lets out a sigh of relief when she realised who it was. “Oh, hi Edric! Has been a while, hasn’t it? About two weeks?” Edric smiled at the H/C girl in front of him, humming in response. As the two chatted, a certain human walked up behind Y/N, covering her eyes. “Guess who?” She giggled. Y/N gasped. “The Grim Reaper! You’ve finally come for me!” The two girls giggled, as Luz removed her hands from her eyes. “Close!” While they interacted, Luz glanced over her shoulder to see Edric glaring darkly at her. A little unnerved, she waves as she gave an awkward smile. “Hey Edric! How’ve you been? C’mon, give me a high-five!” Holding up her hand, she chuckled nervously when Edric refused, simply staring at her with an evil glare. “Don’t leave me hanging??” Y/N took it upon herself to high-five the human. “Ok! Luz and I gotta be getting to class Edric. See you after school?” The green-haired witch finally smiled, his dark attitude disappearing for a moment as he talked to Y/N. “Of course kitten! See you then!” Y/N waved goodbye, grabbing Luz’s hand as they headed to class. Luz felt her face heat up when her witch crush did so. Yes, Y/N was Luz’s crush. She tried covering her face as they walked. This didn’t go unnoticed by the Blight twin, though. Watching them go, he growled to himself. “You won’t get a chance to be with Y/N, Luz. I’ll make sure of that.” Luz and Y/N had just finished their first two classes, and were making their way to the cafeteria. Edric watched them enter, observing how Luz blushed whenever Y/N smiled, or laughed aloud. Eyes narrowing, he felt his sister place a hand on his shoulder. “Hey Ed, you ok? You’re spacing out again.” Smiling at his sister, he replied that he was fine, probably just sick. Emira didn’t really believe him, but let him be. Back with Luz and Y/N, they had sat down with Willow, Gus and Amity. As the gang laughed and chatted, Y/N felt something land in her hair. Another table erupted into laughter as Boscha threw more of her lunch, this time hitting Willow. “Oops, sorry weirdos! Just practising for Grudgby! And you happen to be my target!” Throwing another part of her lunch, Luz huffed angrily. “Didn’t she learn her lesson last time?!” The bell went off, signifying the end of lunch. Sighing, Y/N got up. “I’m just gonna go clean myself up. You guys can just go ahead to class. Willow, do you wanna come with?” Willow nodded shyly, still glancing over to the pink-haired demon witchling. Boscha glared back at her, smirking. Luz stood up as well. “I’ll come too! I can help!” She yelled eagerly. Laughing, Y/N and Willow let her come. After leaving the bathroom, Y/N let Luz and Willow head back to class while she went for her lockers. Upon arriving, Boscha was leaning against it, throwing a rock up and down in one hand. “Heya nerd, thought you needed some company.” She smirked, throwing the rock at the H/C-coloured witch. Y/N lifted her arms for protection, dropping her belongings. Boscha let out a laugh. “Here, let me help you with that-“ “Boscha, Principal Bump wants to talk to you immediately.” The two female witched looked up to see Edric. Y/N was relieved. Boscha scoffed. “What does he want me for? What did I do?” Edric only smiled. “He says it’s important. Now, would you please follow me?” He says kindly, walking away. Boscha shrugs, following the Blight. Y/N picked up the rest of her books, rushing away to her class. “So, what does Bump want me for? And where are we going?” Boscha says. Edric smirked. All was going according to plan. “Just in this room right here.” He says, stopping as he held open a door. Boscha looked inside, scrunching her nose at the smell. “Why this room? And where’s-“ She was cut off as Edric pushed her in. She let out a yelp as she stumbled, catching herself in time as she turned angrily towards the Blight twin. “What the hell?! Who do you thi-“ “Just someone who’s gonna make you pay for hurting my kitten.” Edric smirked darkly, producing a flame in one hand. Boscha gasped, backing up. “Th-that’s not real! You’re an illusionist! It can’t hurt me!” She shrieked. Edric’s smirk didn’t falter, advancing on the witchling he brought it closer to her face. Boscha’s face paled as she felt the heat come closer and closer. “Does it feel like an illusion to you?~” After school was finished, Y/N was on her way back home. She glanced around nervously. Boscha was no where to be seen, but seeing as she’d pretty much harassed her a few hours before…it kinda put her on edge. Watching all the students walk by, she waited patiently for Edric. After seeing he wasn’t coming, she let out a sigh. Maybe he was busy? It didn’t matter. I’ll just head home by myself. Walking along the streets of Bones Marrow, she glanced around at the residents. Busy marketers yelled out their products to passerby’s, while demon and bounty hunters wondered the streets, glaring at anyone stupid enough to get in their way. As she walked by a dark alley way, Y/N felt someone grab her arm roughly, pulling her into the darkness. She tried to scream, but a hand covering her mouth prevented her from doing that. Kicking and screaming into the hand, the monster hauled her away to an unknown location. She tried making a circle in the dirt underneath her, but failed miserably. “Hey!” Someone shouted off to the side, and Y/N only saw a golden mask before the monster holding her let out a grunt of pain, dropping her. Falling on her knees, Y/N scrambled to her feet, facing the monster and her saviour. The monster was lying on the ground, and her saviour was walking over to her. “Are you ok ma’am?” He asked kindly. Y/N immediately knew who he was, bowing down on one knee. “Th-thank you, Golden guard! How can I repay you?” She stuttered. The Golden guard was silent for a while, looking down curiously at the witchling at his feet. Smirking under his mask, he held out his hand. “Well, you can start by calling me Hunter Darl.” He said. Y/N took his hand shakily, blushing a bit at the nickname. “And may I know your name, m’lady?” “I-i’m Y/N. Y/N L/N.” She replied back, feeling a little more comfortable in the mans presence. Hunter looked around for a bit. “You on your way back home? Maybe I could assist you? Make sure you get back safe and sound.” He offered. Y/N nodded her head eagerly, not wanting to be left alone again. The two headed off, leaving the dead body behind them. “Thank you for walking back, Hunter.” Y/N said shyly. The two had just arrived back at the L/N manor, and were about to part ways. Hunter waved his hand about. “No problem. Anything for a cutie like you.” Y/N felt a flush on her cheeks, and she smiled. Leaning forward, she placed a hand on Hunter’s mask. “May I?” After a moment of hesitation, he nodded. Taking off the mask, Y/N gave him a quick kiss on the cheek. “Nice to finally see my saviour’s face.” She giggled, running off up the steps and inside the house. Hunter felt his heart flutter, his eyes widening in adoration as he watched the female witchling run up the steps and out of view. “So, you helped my kitten get home safely. Well done. You can go now.” Hunter turned to see a green-haired male witch walk out of the shadows, glaring daggers into him. A little taken aback, Hunter smirked at the newcomer. “And you’d be?” “Edric Blight. Now run along Golden guard. You wouldn’t want to become a part of my list.” He smiled maliciously. Hunter wasn’t scared so easily. Walking away, he smirked at the Blight. “See you tomorrow Blight.” Watching the guard go, Edric scowled. Guess there’ll be another body to bury later. The next morning… Y/N walked out of the her home, smiling widely at the boy waiting out front for her. “Edric! I’m so glad you’re here! Where were you last night? I waited outside Hexside for you, but you didn’t show!” Edric placed an arm around the female witchling’s waist. “Sorry kitten, I was…busy.” He said. Y/N blushed a little at the nickname, but kept her composure. “Oh, it’s fine! Just tell me next time, please?” Edric smiled. “Alright kitten." They finally reached school, and Y/N noticed a familiar blonde-haired witchling walking around Hexside, wearing a yellow uniform. He seemed to be glancing around for someone. She started frantically waving her arms, causing Edric to glance at her in concern. “HUNTER! HI!” The blonde witchling looked up, his face brightening as he spotted Y/N. Jogging over, he almost tripped as Y/N hugged him. “I can’t believe you’re here! I didn’t know you went to Hexside!” She exclaimed excitedly. Hunter blushed, scratching his neck for a minute. “Yeah uh, I just transferred from Glandus. So how are you this fine day, m’lady?” He questioned, as the H/C pulled away. Hunter glanced up to see Edric glaring at him. Edric leaned forward. “Well, sorry to interrupt kitten, but we gotta head to class-“ he said in the most innocent voice he could muster. Y/N shrugged, looking at the clock in front of the school. “Well, we still have 10 minutes. There’s no need to rush Edric! We have plenty of time!” She said. Before Edric could say anything else, Luz came up to the group. “Hey guys! Y/N! You’ll never guess what I found on my way to school!” She shrieked, jumping up and down in excitement. Y/N tilted her head curiously, walking over to the human. “What is it? A new demon? Ooh! Another hide-out?!” Luz blushed, grinning widely. “It’s a surprise! I’ll show you tonight after school! Meet me here after last period?” She asked. Y/N nodded her head excitedly. “Of course!” The bell went off, and Y/N gasped. “Oh shoot! We gotta go! See you after school Edric! See ya Hunter!” Y/N rushed, grabbing onto Luz’s hand as they ran off to class together. The two boys watched them go, filled with jealousy and hatred. “I see that there’s another rival.” Hunter muttered, and Edric hummed in agreement. Turning to the guard, he eyed him down. “Well, I guess I won’t be able to get rid of you. But maybe together, we can get rid of the human. That way, she won’t get in between us.” Hunter smirked. “Are you proposing we work together to win Y/N’s affection? Instead of against each other?” “Exactly. So?” “You’ve got yourself a deal, friend.” At lunch, Y/N, Luz, Gus, Willow and Amity were sitting together. Hunter came up to their table, glancing around nervously as he carried a notepad and pen. Reaching the table, he tapped Luz on the shoulder. “E-excuse me.” The human turned to him, smiling brightly. “Oh, hi! What can I do for you?” She asked. Hunter almost smiled at her innocent aura, but kept himself under control. “I-uh, I’m doing an assignment on heroic figures, and since you’re the one who saved Eda the Owl lady at the petrification ceremony, i wanted to ask if I could interview you?” He asked nervously, giving a small, hopeful smile to Luz. Luz was thrilled with the idea. “Of course! When would you like to do it!” “W-would right now be too much?” “Of course not!” Standing up, Luz announced that she’d be back soon. Walking out of the cafeteria with Hunter, Edric followed a few minutes later, making sure no one saw as he left.
Y/N was waiting outside of Hexside once again. She sighed, watching all the students once again walk by. Yet, there was no human amongst them. Where was Luz? She said she’d be here! Two pairs of hands landed on Y/N’s shoulders. “What’s wrong kitten?” “You look upset Darl.” Y/N turned to the male witches. “Luz said she was going to show me something, but I guess she forgot all about me.” She said, hurt filling her voice. Edric wrapped a comforting arm around her. “Hey, it’s ok Kitten. If you want, we can show you our special place!” He said. Hunter looped his arm through hers. “Yeah! We found it together! How does that sound?” Y/N smiled gratefully at the two male witches. “Thank you Hunter. Thank you Edric. I would love to see it.” Walking along a forest path, Hunter and Edric kept the directions in mind as they made their way to “their” secret place. “Not far to go kitten.” Edric said. Entering a clearing, Y/N gasped at the sight of a small creek running through a cove. “It’s beautiful! Thank you guys!” She exclaimed, giving both boys a kiss on the cheek. Sitting by the creek, they peered up at the night sky. Edric and Hunter smirked to each other. Luz the human was very helpful. Getting the information out of the human was easy. Disposing of the body was the hard part.

Bake From The Heart | Anter
sommer-girl:
Hunter was an interesting guy. Anna assumed it mostly had to do with the fact that he was from the Boiling Isles, which was very different from Swynlake, even if they were both Magick-friendly places. But he was even different from Edric and Emira, who were also from there… maybe it was just his personality.
Still, Anna tried not to laugh. Hunter also was very nice, and it wasn’t right to make fun of him.
“Uh, yeah, for cookies, you’re gonna want all-purpose. Unless you’re trying to make them gluten free. But you can hold onto the other flour if you want to make stuff in the future!” Anna said encouragingly. “I’m not really doing anything, if you want some help with making them? I love cookies. Anything with chocolate, really.”
“Oh! I would love help!” Hunter hoped that didn’t come out too eagerly — but, well, he was kind of desperate. He was in over his head. Of course, he’d read a dozen online articles about cookie making before he’d even begun, but that somehow did not prepare him for the mortifying ordeal of trying to measure out a cup of flour in the shared dorm kitchen.
“I got a few types of chocolate chips too.” He skirted over to his reusable grocery bags and pulled out various chocolate chips. “Though I’m less stressed about that — I figure it’s up to personal preference and I was just going to try a little bit of each one to see which I liked. Do you have a preference? I’m intrigued by this caramel chip option.”

How about a beach day adventure with Skarlow?
Ooooh! Now this is a cute idea! Sadly one we won’t see cause we don’t have 20 more adventures, but, well, it’s still worth exploring.
Normally, the sea surrounding the Boiling Isles is… well, boiling. As such, beavers are not exactly a romantic hotspot for Witches. But, during an exceptionally low tide, an event called a ‘low boil’ happens, where the Isles oceans don’t burn on contact, and certain couples like, say, Willow and Skara, like to go and have fun get together.
Skara eagerly asks Willow to go to the beach during the next low boil, which Willow is more then happy to accept. Luz and Amity plan to go as well, specifically to a small private piece that the Blight family owns, so they make it a double date. So when the perfect weekend roles around where a low boil occurs, both pairs of couples grab their cutest swimwear, hop on their Palismen, and fly off to Blight Beach for some low boil fun.
The four decide to start their date with a fun game Luz shows them: Chicken. Luz takes Amity on her shoulders, Willow does the same to Skara, and they spend a half hour playfully trying to push one another around. Skara eventually stumbles off, but they’re deep enough that she’s fine, and it’s a good excuse for Willow to carry her in her arms back to the beach, so she doesn’t complain.
After the game, Amity and Willow decide to chill on their beach blankets, while Luz and Skara attempt to build the worlds biggest sand castle, because of course they do. Amity and Willow provide some assistance, such as using Abomination goo to make the castle more sturdy and Willow summoning a flower wall to keep any troublesome beach creatures from messing with it. Eventually, Skara and Luz proudly unveil their little castle: a lumpy, misshapen wreckage of a castle that Luz said USED to be the worlds biggest, until an intense battle. Still, the pair are proud of their creation, and their respective partners reward them with a kiss (Amity on Luz’s cheek, Willow on the tip of Skara’s nose).
The pair of couples decide to split up for a bit, with Luz and Amity deciding to go for a walk while Willow and Skara stay where they are. As their friends leave, Skara spots a big conch shell and decides if Gus’s weird idea about humans hearing the ocean in them was true. Unfortunetly, she didn’t take into account the idea of a SpiderCrab inside, and is met with a pinched ear. It’s not enough to draw blood thankfully, but it still stings. Lucky for Skara, Amity planned for such a catastrophe and brought a Healers kit Emira gave her (or was it Em’s girlfriend? She’s not sure). Willow quickly rushes to apply a soothing cream to it, not realizing how sensitive Skara’s ears actually are. When Willow touches them, Skara squeaks and try’s to pull them down on instinct. The Plant witch quickly realizes her mistake and rushes to apologize, but Skara tells her she was just surprised, and she doesn’t mind Willow touching her ears if she asks. Willow asks this time, and Skara nods, and Willow applies the ointment carefully while Skara sinks into it, happy and content to be so close to Willow. When the ointments fully applied, Skara asks Willow to carry her to the blanket to cuddle, and Willow gladly does. It feels so nice and soothing to Skara that she falls asleep within five minutes, while Willow just lays next to her partner and wonders what she did to be lucky enough to get a girlfriend who’s so wonderful and cute.
After an hour or so, Skara wakes up groggily to Luz excitedly rushing over: Apparently Eda sent over Owlbert with some stuff for human smore’s and a bonfire (she sent maybe a little too much lighter fluid, but Luz was able to measure it out). And now that the suns getting low, the four decide to have one! After it’s all set, Luz shows her friends how to cook a marshmallow for a smore, which instantly becomes a massive hit with all the Witches (Willow has to stop Skara from pouring the entire marshmallow bag into her mouth). The four girls chat, cook smore’s, laugh, brag about their partners. It’s a fun, easygoing end to the night.
Sadly, all the girls have to make it back home soon, and Luz and Amity take off to the Owl House, holding hands on the way. Skara and Willow both have to fly separately back to their own homes, though, so they sadly can’t leave holding hands. Instead, Willow gives Skara shell that had pinched her earlier, now SpiderCrab free and holding a bottle of ointment for her ear. Removing it, Skara confirms that she CAN, in fact, hear the ocean in the shell. Giggling, Willow asks if Skara needs a little more ointment, to which Skara lies yes. Willow then asks Skara if she’s ok with her applying it, to which Skara truthfully responds yes. Willow does, and in Skara’s delighted haze, she asks if she can kiss Willow. To which Willow has the only reaction the Plant witch could have: a solid, all consuming blush, followed by a swift shake of her head, and an enthused nod. And Skara does, in fact, kiss her. And the two girls smile, promise to message each other when they’re home, and wave goodbye on their Palismen, giddy and happy and grateful for their magical day on the beach.

I've vaguely mentioned her in a previous post but here's my Welcome Home OC/ Self-C. Her name is Emira. Emira Eagerly. Emi for short. Alike me, she uses all pronouns, (she/he/they), and is genderfluid. Oh! And after realizing her design was alike the Joyfuls, i decided she'd be related to them somehow. Like, first cousin once removed, maybe?.
Anygay, this is just an art/info dump to get her out there, i didn't feel like curating a post to get likes, so yuh.
I'll be using she/her pronouns for Emi only so it doesn't get confusing xd // the green text is kinda like the words i exaggerated while theoretically talking
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Here's my first real sketches of her <33
Tumblr media
Ignore the crappy Julie drawing lmao. I made a poopy mini comic about Emi getting a haircut.
I do heavily multiship WH characters. Mostly me multishipping Wally x Julie, Julie x Sally, and Wally having a crush on Eddie (the other characters i ship aren't multiships, just regular ones like Poppy x Howdy and Frank x Eddie). This is all to say that i also multiship Wally alot. And so, i both hc him as pan and ship him with my own OC (and some other peoples' OCs that are really cute). I also hc Wally as having a bit of a preference to guys, sooo, when Emi cut her hair, Wals was like awooga.
And yea, that's basically what the mini comic was. Emi cut her hair and this caused Wally to start crushing a little.
Tumblr media
Colored!!
I think atp i did figure out that i wanted Emi to be a fashion designer/ seamstress.
Tumblr media
Other outfits!! Yippie!! - I really love the party outfit. The shoes, ahhg! I wish they really existed.
Tumblr media
Hehe, lil (crappy) sktech :·)
Oh yeah, i kind of had the idea of Wally drawing out the patterns for Emira when she was overwhelmed with ideas and didn't know where to start on an outfit. She'd just waffle about her ideas with Wally. Probably assumed he was drawing an apple or something, but oh? What's this? You drew a whole template for the dress i was rambling on and on about!! Thank you, Wally!
Tumblr media
Her house :·)
Tumblr media
AHHHH i love this drawing!!! Em and Emi, Emira and Emira, she and he, they and they, idc how to describe it, just.. genderfluidness!? And also, the outfits!! I just loved drawing them, I'd hella wear them irl. Especially the belt. I wish i had that 1970s belt irl!! I also loveee how she has longer hair and shorter at some point, meaning i can basically give her any hairstyle i want in my art!! It doesn't have to be consistent (unless it's a comic) - :·)) // this took me about 3hrs. And i barely took any breaks, that's how much i enjoyed drawing her!! Ahhh!!!
Tumblr media
I was just looking through Pinterest and got the inspiration!! Well no, not just that. I failed to mention b4 that I'd like to think in the WH Halloween special, Emi attempted to dress up as a biblically accurate angle.. but it scared the kids tm (not actually, it mostly scared Frank) so she changed!! Her alternative costume was a clown!!. - And while, no, i didn't draw her as a biblically accurate angle, i did still make her an angle!! :·)
I do like this drawing, butttt my original sketch was way more expressive than this one. My second sketch was definitely more stiff, however i still went with it bc the first sketch was kinda wonky when flipped. Whoopies!!
//
Now i can ramble about Emi wayyyy more. I have so many more headcannons, comics, and crappy little drawing not shown here but this post is getting to long!! Buh bye, now loves <33!!!

Fever
Author Note: I was working on an outline for a longer Emira/Viney piece when this idea came to me. Writing from Luz’s pov in this one, trying to get a feel for her voice still.
__________________________________________________
Luz wasn’t completely dense; she could tell that something was going on with Amity lately.
They’d been friends for a few weeks now, so Luz had gotten pretty good at reading Amity. She noticed the way Amity’s eyes lit up while talking about Azura, the way her eyebrows scrunched together while she worked through a problem, and the way her whole form seemed to shrink when she had to leave the Owl House to go home.
Recently though, Amity’s face often held a bright pink flush. The first few times Luz saw it, she didn’t think anything of it. It could be normal to sometimes turn bright red. But after multiple days she started to worry.
What if Amity was sick? A red face like that could come from a high fever, Luz had seen it before when she had the flu. A fever like that could be really serious too, even deadly in humans.
This led Luz to worry during school, staring into space and wondering if witches could even get sick. Luz hadn’t seen any sign of sickness in her classmates yet, so she wasn’t sure. Perhaps witches had far more advanced diseases than humans, ones that could magically wipe out whole cities in just days.
Willow had lost her memories to fire burning the photos, were there witch diseases that worked the same way? It would explain the red face, but would mean Amity could be burning from the inside out.
That was a terrifying thought that did not in any way alleviate Luz’s worries.
After school that day, Luz told Gus and Willow that she would spend time with them tomorrow and went looking for Amity. She knew where her friend’s locker was, so it wasn’t hard to find her.
“Amity!” Luz called out as she approached her locker. She walked slightly faster than she normally would to close the gap. Amity was putting books into her locker, but tensed when Luz called to her.
“Oh, hi Luz.” Amity still had a book in her hand as she turned to Luz, that worrisome pink present on her cheeks. Her eyes looked up and down over Luz, expression shifting to a slight frown. “Is something wrong?” She asked in a lower tone.
Why was she asking that when she was sick? There was clearly something wrong. “Yeah,” Luz nodded, which drew Amity a step closer. “I’m worried about you.”
Now Amity just looked confused. “Why’s that?” She asked, another question Luz thought she should already know the answer to. Behind Amity, her locker closed its mouth.
“Because your face has been all red this week.” Luz started to explain, moving her hands for emphasis as she did. “And I know being red like that can come from a fever, so I thought you might be sick.” She stopped her hands near her chest, not wanting to mention the different witch diseases she thought of earlier. “Are you sick?”
“No, I’m not sick.” Amity said, but the red on her cheeks told a different story. Luz didn’t believe it. Amity was totally the type to lie so that others wouldn’t worry about her, so it was possible she was doing it here too.
“Are you sure?” Luz stepped towards Amity, reaching out to place the back of her hand against her forehead. “Let me check.” This was how her mother used to check Luz for a fever. Yup, she was warm, far too warm. The redness had only spread in the last few seconds and was now covering Amity’s neck and ears too.
After a moment, in which Luz reached up to put her other hand against her own forehead to try and see what a normal temperature should feel like, Amity lurched back away from her touch. Unluckily, she bashed right into her locker, staggering to regain her balance.
“Amity!” Luz reached out to steady her with a firm hand on one shoulder. “Are you okay?”
Amity looked even less well now, with wide eyes and quick breaths. “I’m fine.” She insisted quietly, but didn’t shake off Luz’s support.
“You should see the nurse.” Luz said, and despite phrasing it as a suggestion she took the book out of Amity’s hands and gave her arm a gentle tug in the direction of the nurse’s office.
Amity shook her head. “There’s nothing wrong Luz.” Her breathing had almost returned to normal.
“Then why is your face so warm?” Luz wasn’t going to take no for an answer. When someone had a fever, they needed to see the doctor. The nurse would do as a substitute in this case.
“I-it’s nothing.” Amity stuttered, her shade of red darkening.
“The nurse will know for sure.”
Amity muttered another protest, but Luz was persistent. Within a minute and with a promise that it wouldn’t be that bad, they were walking towards the office. To get her to move, Luz had to take Amity’s hand in her own. She wasn’t dragging her friend, but instead was guiding her to seek needed medical attention.
It wasn’t a far walk and they soon arrived. Luz let go of Amity’s hand, but kept an eye on her so she couldn’t escape.
The nurse usually stayed for an hour or so after school, so they were able to get right in and see her. Well, Amity was. Luz was told to sit in the chairs outside the office while Amity was looked at.
That was fine, Luz could handle sitting and waiting for a while. She still had one of Amity’s textbooks, which she had stowed in her bag while they walked. Maybe she could read that while she waited. That lasted all of two minutes, since the book was about complex abomination summoning that was way beyond what Luz could do or understand.
She couldn’t help but think about Amity, in there with the nurse. She hoped Amity was okay, that she really was fine and would recover from this. Luz wasn’t sure what life in the Boiling Isles would be like without her, and she didn’t want to find out.
About ten minutes later, the nurse’s door opened, snapping Luz out of her thoughts. Amity came out alone and Luz jumped up out of her seat, dropping the book on the chair.
“What did she say?” Luz asked eagerly, unable to contain her nerves.
“I don’t have a fever.” Amity replied evenly.
Well, that proved Luz wrong. Maybe witchlings had higher regular temperatures than humans. “That’s great.” Luz couldn’t help but smile in relief.
Amity didn’t look so thrilled. She took a deep breath, glancing down at her hands. “There’s more.” She said lowly, reaching forward to take Luz’s left hand with both of hers. This sent a jolt through Luz’s body, like a shock straight to her brain. “She said I’m suffering… from love.” Amity’s golden eyes drifted up slowly after the last word, making direct eye contact with Luz.
Luz felt like her mouth had been hanging open forever. That made so much sense. Sure, being flushed was a symptom of being sick, but it was also a symptom of having a crush.
Luz smiled and placed her other hand on top of Amity’s. “That’s totally manageable! I’ll help, just tell me what you need. You don’t have to deal with it alone, that’s what friends are for!”
Amity nodded and returned a soft smile. “Thanks Luz.”
They remained like that for a moment before Amity cleared her throat and stepped back, pulling their hands apart. Luz’s hand felt cold without hers.
Amity picked her book up off the chair, then suggested they go back to the lockers.
As Luz followed Amity back, she couldn’t help but say. “I was so worried, I thought it might be some magic disease that burns you from the inside out. There isn’t anything like that, is there?”
Amity chuckled darkly, “You don’t want to know.”

Alright, lay it down on me. How do think we're going to be introduced to blight manner? And what are some fun speculations you can make about the place and the character's interactions in it? I've got a sneaking suspicion that Luz is going to end up there by total accident, and the whole time she's going to be thinking "I shouldn't be here, I really shouldn't BE HERE!"
Do you have any speculations on how we're going to be introduced to blight manor?
-
          Answering both of these asks;
I’m going to be honest Anon, I have no clue, it could go ANY way, it’s really up to the writers and I eagerly await to see what they do. But what you suggested makes a LOT of sense for Luz, she’s already a cryptid as-is and a disaster magnet in her own right… No doubt, the Blight Manor would be luxurious and massive inside, but also kind of cold and empty as a result, a lot like Belos’ castle. Perhaps it’d be too brightly lit, or the architecture itself would feel distant, while its size makes visitors feel small and insignificant. These would be obvious, yet sensible, design qualities from a meta perspective- And maybe from an in-universe one as well, Odalia and Alador seem like they could be intense enough, to insist that their own home is threatening and intimidating to the ‘lower classes’ and ‘weaker witches’!
It’d also be fascinating to see Luz navigate Blight Manor in a way where she’s not supposed to be there… Possibly by accident, maybe Amity or the Twins invited her without permission of their parents. I’d love to see King along for the ride there… And it’d be interesting to have Luz witness what goes on behind closed doors, and see firsthand how abusive Odalia and Alador can be, when under the impression that only family is present. Maybe Luz could even stumble upon a few dirty secrets, a skeleton in the closet or two… Knowing this show’s humor, it’d be a missed opportunity to not have a literal skeleton! Though while this could just be a morbid joke involving a potentially talking skeleton, there’s always the chance of the implication of murder by Odalia and Alador as well… So never mind. Not that I wouldn’t put it past them, either.
Regardless, that kind of situation lends itself to hilarity, to the audience exploring with Luz the sensation that we really shouldn’t be here, that we’re trespassing… And it could instill a feeling of alertness and intrusion, maybe hinting at how uncomfortable the Blight kids are in their own home! It’d be interesting to see Emira and Edric happily show Luz around while Amity tries to be professional, with Luz getting into fun and antics… But then Amity snaps and is VERY serious about not messing around, and Luz stops because she can tell that this is very important to her, that Amity really does fear her parents. Maybe we could get a scene where the Blight kids find Luz and are surprised, and they awkwardkly work to smuggle her out of the Blight Manor…
And maybe even Luz learning of Amity’s crush on her, and/or becoming aware of her own crush on Amity! I’ve got thoughts about Luz meeting Odalia and Alador on a potential visit to Blight Manor all dressed-up with slicked-back hair, and a less androgynous outfit (because you know Odalia and Alador are the kind of prejudiced people to look down on Luz’s unorthodox tastes and form of expression). I think it’s safe to say that whatever happens, shenanigans will ensue… And there’s an unfortunately HIGH chance of some very uncomfortable stuff happening/being revealed as well.

Bring It Home - Chapter 6
To her right, Emira was hopping in place, before winking at her while shaking her arms out.
They were ready and poised and wouldn’t leave any of this in one piece.
Growling in anticipation, Amity looked ahead to see Willow holding up the flag.
Another chapter???? I'm spoiling you guys
But I already wanna start on my big fanfiction!! And for that I promised myself to finish all open fanfics first, before starting the megaproject not to lose my motivation with too many options again. So bear with me, please xD
Ah right, warnings:

Cracking her knuckles, Amity huffed, before focusing on the backyard full of things.
The eighteen-year-old had managed to convince her siblings to empty the attic of any and all furniture her parents didn’t and wouldn’t need anymore, most of it probably treasured family heirlooms that were left up there to rot.
Straightening her back and rolling her head, Amity breathed through, before looking ahead again.
They had assembled some furniture to the best of their ability after transporting them down here, but they had also just thrown some off the roof, for the fun of it. The backyard was littered with boards, glass shards, and assembled furniture, which looked kind of funny, actually.
Their parents were still on a business trip, for at least another week, so the twins had readily accepted Amity’s offer to clean up the attic. Especially if that meant smashing stuff.
Grinning, she looked to her left where Edric was rolling his shoulders and showed her a thumb up, grinning deviously. He had gloated about some new powerful spell he had been working on and had impatiently waited all day to try this out.
To her right, Emira was hopping in place, before winking at her while shaking her arms out.
They were ready and poised and wouldn’t leave any of this in one piece.
Growling in anticipation, Amity looked ahead to see Willow holding up the flag.
They had roped her in on this, mostly by worrying her about any injuries they could possibly get from punching glass, so Willow had proclaimed herself the judge of the race the siblings were planning and had positioned herself on the other end of their backyard.
Their goal was to race to the other side and leave as much destruction to the furniture as they possibly could. Leaving anything whole or causing damage to the lawn in any way would result in fewer points for the score since they didn’t want to have Willow repair their backyard for their parents not to notice what their children were up to.
Smirking to herself, Amity readied her fingers by flexing them, already planning on using her abominations to leave nothing but destruction and chipped wood.
Willow’s hand with the flag fell and Amity pounced.
Immediately, she conjured an abomination to crush the first piece of furniture beneath it, while she took off its arm to slice through the nearest chair. She worked quickly and effectively, using all her training with Eda and Lilith to be as fast and deadly as she could. She had learned to utilize her abominations as basically anything by now, to crush, slice, envelop and even impale if she wanted to.
After half the way, sweat already started running down her forehead and temples but she couldn’t deny how amazing it felt to smash up all the furniture the Blight family had hoarded over the years, probably hundreds of them, for her to smash up. The rotting boards were flying all around and she fell into a sort of trance while continuing to hack everything up to the best of her abilities.
Emira was mostly using magically enhanced martial art, which allowed her to move quicker but left less destruction than Amity or Edric.
Edric, on the other hand, was using fire magic and highly directive explosions, almost like fireworks and flamethrowers combined. She’d have to ask him for that spell after this was over.
Coming in as second, Amity finally held herself up on her knees and chuckled, before straightening up and high-fiving both her siblings. The sweat was running down her face and a flying glass shard had left a small cut on her forehead, making a small trail of blood run down her tumble as well. One of her lower arms had also gotten a cut, but she didn’t even feel the pain, she was too ecstatic for that. Neither did her siblings because they also had minor injuries but didn’t speak up about any of them.
Grinning, the Blight siblings approached Willow who was already waiting for them with her eyebrows quirking up.
“You look like you just fought for your lives.”, she remarked, before joining into their laughter and high-fiving them as well.
The youngest Blight straightened her back and glanced back to their warpaths. Edric’s furniture was still burning, Amity had stayed true to her promise only to leave chipped wood, and Emira’s side showed a similar state of destruction.
Unsurprisingly, Amity got the highest score for destruction, while Emira had won the time and Edric the most impressive spell. She suspected Willow had just given him the reward not to make him feel bad, though, even if his spell was really impressive.
“Hey, we still have a bit of furniture left. Edric, wanna show us that spell?”, Amity finally asked after regaining her breath, and her brother eagerly nodded, showing his sisters and Willow the spell on an old piano they had found. Imitating him, the girls giggled and laughed while blowing up all scrap furniture they found, before sitting down in the grass with some cool drinks and a few towels to dry the sweat on their skin.
Humming, Amity touched glasses with everyone, before taking a deep gulp of her beverage, already feeling the alcohol pleasantly numbing her nerves after such a workout. Willow and Edric shared a harder drink while Emira and her had gone for a lighter cocktail because they had physically worked harder and didn’t want to lose their minds immediately.
Their backyard was still partially burning, but the siblings and Willow were all relaxed about it. They were probably going to burn all the scrap they had produced later, and they were positive about nothing else catching fire, so they opted to lie down for now and relax.
Amity removed her arms from beneath herself and lied down on the grass, closing her eyes when she enjoyed the evening sun. Smiling to herself, she finally indulged in her memories again.
Luz would’ve had so much fun today. Amity knew how much her late friend loved to use her glyphs in new and exciting ways and she would’ve given everything to graduate with a blow like this.
She briefly wondered how Luz would look like now. Maybe her face would be sharper like Amity’s had become, and she’d lose her chubby baby cheeks that made Amity smile every time she looked at the pictures of her and the human.
Maybe she’d be taller than her now, but she imagined her laugh would still be the same. It had to be. Amity imagined it as cheerful as back then, even if she could never know what it would sound like now.
And her eyes wouldn’t change she was sure. They would still be the same wonderful brown she remembered, and they would still shine with everything that she enjoyed. She would still probably fangirl about Azura ever since their favorite ship got together at the end of the last book almost four years ago. Smiling to herself, Amity daydreamed a bit but flinched when her sister punched her arm.
“Hey mittens, what’re you thinking about.”, she playfully asked and Amity growled.
“None of your business.”, she snapped and Willow chuckled.
“I know what she’s thinking about.”
Without further prompting, Amity felt something fluttering on her stomach and opened her eyes to see the old piece of paper, almost falling apart from the usage, that Willow had thrown there.
When she sat up, her old friend already gave her a pen and softly smiled.
“It’s time for another check off the list, isn’t it?”
With her breath hitching, Amity opened the bucket list and looked over the tasks she had completed.
The Azura book had three checks behind it by now, and she had given up on counting Skiing. She had also skipped school about five times, resulting in five checks.
Next was to smash something.
Grinning, Amity clicked the pen and drew a satisfying check behind the task, before looking up to their backyard with the chipped wood and burning furniture.
“She would’ve enjoyed this.”, Amity mumbled and Edric nodded.
“I’ll drink to that.”, he slurred and downed his drink, making his sisters giggle.
“Slow down Edric, we don’t wanna clean up your bedroom from your vomit again.”, Emira chastised him and smacked his shoulder, making him scowl.
“That never happened!”, he retorted but Amity just shook her head.
“Sure, that happened!”, Emira bit back and lifted her chin at him, “At the graduation party we threw!”
Willow laughed and nodded.
“Oh yeah, I remember that party. That was fun.”
Emira pushed Amity’s shoulder.
“Mittens’ first blackout!”, she giggled and Amity rolled her eyes, taking another gulp from her drink. Rolling her eyes, she finally replied.
“Only because you gave me the drink. I didn’t know it was way harder than you let on.”, she grumbled but Emira merely laughed, along with Edric and Willow. Thinking back to the party, Amity shook her head over her blazing blush. She was just glad Luz hadn’t been there to see her throwing off her shirt and jumping on the table in a bra before proceeding to breathe fire. It had been funny, admittedly, and she had enjoyed living it up like this for once, but she was still glad her crush hadn’t witnessed that.
Smiling to herself, she looked out to the backyard again, drinking a gulp from her bottle.
What she would’ve given to share this moment with Luz, though.
Sitting in the grass with people she loved, looking out to the destruction they had caused, completely powered out and holding a drink, feeling like an adult. Smiling to herself, she finished the drink before getting up.
“Come on, let’s put out the fires before the grass starts burning.”, she called and Edric groaned.
“I need more alcohol for that!”
“No, you need less alcohol for that. That stuff burns, you idiot.”
“Who said I wanna pour it on the flames?!”
Willow and Amity laughed at her siblings’ bickering, shaking their heads as they went to start collecting the pieces of wood.

Luz’s mother really doesn’t want to send Luz to camp. She knows once she leaves, there is no going back. But Luz has a knack for getting into trouble, and one day she stumbles into the same type of people her mother would have preferred she avoided. After helping Luz dissolve her high school bully into dust, Eda and Lilith know right away that this kid is just like them - a child of the gods. So Luz hops on a Pegasus and heads to Camp Half-blood, where she embarks on a dangerous quest that makes her both friends and enemies... and she might even save Olympus along the way.
Chapter Nine: I Kill the National Bird for a Flower Crown
Luz thought Antheia’s flower shop was lovely. It reminded her of those cottages her Mami had always wanted to buy in Vermont. The walls were made of stone and wood planks, all the décor was set in earthy neutrals, and there was a roaring fire stirring some kind of delicious stew.
Luz and her friends were instructed delicately by Antheia to sit in her living room on the soft plush couches. It was behind the cash register and check out, which Luz thought was an odd layout but knew better than to comment on it. Antheia waved her hand around the coffee table and a cup of tea and a tray of cookies appeared out of thin air. Once Luz got over her shock, she helped herself to them eagerly. The tea was perfect: and it was chamomile just like Antheia had said she’d needed. Antheia sat with them, watching them eat and drink with that same easy-going smile on her face.
The place was covered with flowers from head to toe. Some of them Luz recognized, like the pansies in the open window or the tulips (she was pretty sure it wasn’t tulip season) in the hanging basket in the living room. But there were other flowers she had never seen before, and quite frankly, she would have noticed if they did exist. There was an array of what looked like gold roses, a bucket of bronze hawthoria, and on the windowsill… it looked like a group of silver sprouts.
“Is that moonlace?” Willow awed, peeking over Luz’s shoulder for a better look.
Antheia smiled at Willow. “Always nice to meet a demigod with an interest in the beauty of flowers. Yes, before Ogygia was abandoned I went there myself to bring a few samples of moonlace back here. It’s incredibly rare.”
“It’s incredibly beautiful…” Willow sighed, clasping her hands together.
“Are you a child of Aphrodite, dear?” She asked Willow, who shook her head.
“Demeter.”
“Ah, just as lovely,” Antheia said eagerly. “Her children have always been fond of my gifts.”
“This is a lovely shop, my lady,” Gus started, but Antheia tisked gently and waved her hand.
“No need for formalities, Augustus. I am in your debt. You are here to do me a great service.”
Luz looked at Willow and Gus uncertainly, and Gus seemed taken aback. He gently set his tea down on the table.
“Pardon me, Antheia,” he said slowly, “what do you mean by a ‘great service’?”
The goddess looked momentarily taken aback before the smile quickly returned to her face. “Oh, of course, you wouldn’t have been told the full details, after all, I only heard this morning that you would be coming, so there was always a chance you were too preoccupied to put the pieces together.”
Luz looked at her friends again, but before she could open her mouth to comment that perhaps Antheia was mistaken, she had kept going.“My lady always did put her faith in the best kind of demigods, you know. After all, this problem has been going on for so long, and without my sisters to help me, I fear I would be too outmatched on my own.”
Luz was a little dense, but she realized what was happening the moment Antheia spun her hand and her cup of tea refilled.
“Aphrodite offered out services in exchange for the ride,” she said, and Antheia placed a gentle hand on Luz’s shoulders. The gesture immediately filled her with a feeling of warmth she hadn’t felt in so long. Her Mami’s trust, the love of her new friendships at camp, the home she now came to love. There was something else there too, but she couldn’t quite place it. The gesture immediately put her at ease, and she sunk into the couch cushions.
“You need not feign surprise to appease me, child.” She said soothingly, and Luz’s ear tickled as she spoke into it. “I am one of the Graces, an attendant to the goddess of love. I stand for the love and growth of humanity, both flowers and human love itself. I know that a group of kind and compassionate adventurers like yourselves would help me regardless of if you owe my lady. My lady knows this too, or she would not have answered the prayers of her children.”
Luz knew that she and her friends were on a tight schedule, and Antheia knew that too, because now she turned to Gus and Willow, placing a hand on each of their shoulders. Like Luz, they seemed to lean right into the touch, enamored.
“I know you are heroes on a noble quest. Lady Hestia is the fire of Olympus, and without her everything, we know dear will crumble. But my lady has bought you some time, so surely one side stop on your way won’t be too troublesome? In exchange, I will give you something to help with your adventure.”
Luz didn’t like the sound of everything she knew crumbling, but when she looked and her friends she knew their hands were tied. This was the deal the Blight twins had made with their mother, whether they had known it at the time or not. Luz and her friends would have to deal with the consequences.“Alright,” she said, though it wasn’t as confident as she would have liked it to be. “What can we do for you, Lady Antheia?”
She walked to the window, and Luz and her friends hesitantly looked up out it.
“I have stationed myself here, in Mt. Airy Forest,” she said, gesturing to the deep wood. “It is peaceful, but it is not without its pests. I cannot leave my cabin for long as long as the eagle roams the forest.”
“You want us to kill an eagle?” Luz blinked, shuffling nervously. “I’m pretty sure that’s against the law.”
“This is no ordinary eagle,” Antheia said seriously. “This eagle has plagued legends for centuries, and my sisters and I fear it deeply. I would like them to come to visit, but they will not unless this beast is destroyed.”
“The Caucasian Eagle,” Gus said, and Luz spun around to look at him. His voice had risen in pitch, and he looked very nervous. “But it hasn’t been seen in thousands of years!”
“It has returned, and I fear why,” Antheia confirmed. “It was not by the will of Zeus, and therefore it must be destroyed.”
“You want us to kill a white eagle?” Now Luz was really confused.
Willow nudged her shoulder seriously, and Luz quieted. Antheia opened the door for them, and the three demigods headed towards it, drawing their weapons. Aletheia shifted into its sword form, shimmering in the light of the shop.
“The eagle is likely up now, if you destroy it soon, you will be on your way long before the evening hits. If you return, I will have a reward ready for your great service.”
She all but slammed the door behind the three half-bloods, and now that Luz wasn’t all doved up with love magic, she scowled.
“I’m going to kill Edric and Emira when we get back.”
“If the eagle doesn’t tear us to shreds first,” Willow said slowly, gripping her sword tightly.
“It’s not going to be an easy kill,” Gus said quietly, fiddling with his spear. “The Caucasian Eagle was the one sent by Zeus to torture Prometheus. Hercules killed it with a volley of arrows. We’re short on those, so we’ll have to find some other way to get it to come close to us.”
The three of them paced around the forest outside the flower shop, keeping their eyes open for an eagle. But it was quiet on the forest floor, and after almost twenty-minute had passed, Luz was about ready to give up.
“I don’t see this stupid bird anywhere!” Luz groaned, lying down on the grass.
“Luz, be ready,” Gus hissed, looking around nervously. “We don’t know when it’s going to show itself.”
“Well, it hasn’t yet,” Luz shrugged. “Are we sure it’s even around here?”A deafening screech quieted her immediately, and Luz shot up, clenching her sword in her hand in terror. Out of the trees shot a massive bronze eagle, easily with a wingspan of at least ten feet wide. It came soaring down towards Luz, and out of pure instinct she swung, and the bird shrieked, spinning back up towards the sky.
“Holy Zeus that’s a big bird!” Gus yelped, and he reached over to his watch and clicked it. Out expanded a bronze shield almost identical to the one he’d used during capture the flag. When the bird came rearing back towards him with its massive talons, he deflected them off his shield and Willow stabbed with her sword, and the beast spun, narrowly dodging.
“What do we do?” Willow yelled, and Luz ran to regroup with her friends. The bird soared above them, cawing in fury, and Luz quickly began to feel overwhelmed. It could easily carry off one of them in its talons, and they were sharp enough to cut one of them open right there.
“We need to damage its wings so it can’t fly!” Gus said, just before the beast lunged again. Luz rolled right, slashing up with her sword towards it right as its talons snatched right where she had just been standing. She yelped in pain as the edge of one talon scrapped over her shoulder as she rolled, drawing blood. Once again, the bird managed to dodge both Gus’s stab and Willow’s slash, soaring back into the sky.
They tried, but every time the bird lunged, it would spin and dodge their strikes to its wings. Over and over again, the bird would dive, and they would barely manage to clip feathers. Gus kept insisting they had to hit the wings, but there was no way to do it with the bird getting the height on them. It was starting to feel hopeless.
Then, on one tough lunge, the talon had managed to scrape by Willow’s leg, and knock her off her feet. Willow cried out in pain, holding her leg as it bled profusely, and Luz and Gus slashed angrily to get the eagle away as it soared back into the sky.
They ran to Willow, trying to give her cover. She was trembling next to Gus, clearly trying hard not to cry. The slash was long and deep, and Luz knew just by looking at it she would need stitches.
The bird was circling again, waiting to try and pick them off one by one. Luz felt her despair quickly turn to rage. It might have been the pain in her shoulder or the overall frustration with the way their mission had gotten sidetracked, but Luz was getting angry, and when she got angry, she got loud.
“Hey, you stupid bird brain!” She yelled, putting a little distance between herself and Willow. “Over here!”
The eagle cawed angrily, and suddenly, Luz had a plan. She turned her body so she was facing Gus, and waved her sword up at the bird.
“Come and get me!”
“Luz, what are you doing?” Gus hissed, clutching his spear uncertainly.“Trust me!” She just said, pointing her sword back up at the bird.
The eagle spun in the air, it’s sharp eyes pointing toward her furiously. It tucked back its wings, ready to dive.
“Get ready!” She yelled to Gus, and right as the bird was about to make contact with her, she screamed, “Now!”
There was a clang and a crash as the talons of the bird connected against Luz’s sword, and she pushed desperately to keep the bird steady. Then, the bird screamed, rearing back in agony as Gus stabbed right into its back with his spear, and it let go of Luz’s sword in an effort the fly away. But Luz was quicker, and she lunged, cutting right across the bird’s neck with Aletheia, and the bird quieted, dissolving into dust around her feet.
Luz collapsed onto the ground, panting heavily. Gus stumbled backward and sheathed his spear, walking over to Luz and helping her up. Luz winced, remembering the pain in her shoulder, but a cry from behind Gus quickly halted all her own pain at that moment.
“Willow!”
Luz and Gus kneeled around their injured friend, who was clutching her leg. When she looked up at their faces, she feigned a confident smile. “I’ll be fine, it’s not even broken…”
“Willow this is a deep cut,” Luz said seriously. She knew that her Mami would recommend a hospital. It was deep and still bleeding, and Willow’s hands were now covered in blood.
“It’s nothing nectar can’t fix,” Willow said certainly, and Gus walked around and reached into her backpack and pulled out a canteen from it, uncapping it and pouring some of the contents over the wound.
Luz had no idea what they were talking about and definitely didn’t think Gus should be putting that much water on an open wound. “Gus what are you-”
She closed her mouth at Willow’s happy sigh and watched in amazement as the wound began to close until all that remained was a white scar.
“Nectar,” Gus said to Luz with a smile, letting Willow drink a little from the canteen. She immediately perked up and stood, brushing the dirt off her pants. “Drink of the gods. It cures the wounds and illnesses of demigod’s but you can’t have too much or you’ll burn up.”
Luz didn’t like the sound of that, but Gus didn’t give her a choice. He walked over and poured some over the wound on her shoulder, and Luz felt a warmth flow through her body before he let her drink some. It tasted just like her Mami’s Sopa de Lima, which was strange since it looked just like apple juice.
All at once, Luz’s strength returned, and sure enough, when she looked the wound on her shoulder had disappeared. There wasn’t a scar left behind or anything. Even the scar from her game of capture the flag had disappeared.
“Lighter wounds tend to vanish a lot faster,” Willow explained.
Gus closed the canteen and walked over to the remaining pile of eagle dust. Left behind was a pile of bronze feathers, and Gus scoped them up.
“One for each of us. Plus, we can give one to Antheia as proof of our kill.”
Each of them took a bronze feather, and Luz put hers carefully in her backpack, excited to add it to her slowly growing collection of war spoils.
The three of them headed back to the flower shop in much better spirits than when they left. Nobody had gotten hurt, and they still had plenty of time to get on a train or bus west.
“Mt. Airy is just outside Cincinnati,” Gus said with an excited smile. “We’ll be able to find a way west with no problems at all.”
“I don’t know, we’re pretty deep in the Midwest…” Willow said with a frown. “There won’t be many trains.”
“Whatever we have to do, we’ll make it work!” Luz said with a smile. “We just killed the white eagle-”
“Caucasian Eagle,” Gus corrected.
“Caucasian Eagle!” Luz repeated. “We can do anything.”
Sure enough, as they walked into the flower shop with the extra feather, Antheia greeted them with an enthusiastic welcome. She walked up and kissed each of them on the cheek, causing Gus and Luz to blush.
“Thank you, my heroes!” She said enthusiastically. “Now my sisters can visit me without being scared away by that hideous bird. My lady was right to favor you. Now, onto your reward…”
She waved her hand, and on their heads, they each received a flower crown, Willow’s adorned with green flowers, Gus with blue, and Luz with purple. They all cooed in excitement, reaching up to touch them.
“The crowns will wilt over time, but while you wear them you will have my blessing. In Ancient times, the Greeks worshiped me for my gentleness and kindness. You will find that people will treat you the same.”
“Lady Antheia, we are honored,” Willow said, and even Luz was shocked, reaching up to gently touch the flowers with her hand.
“Nonsense, I owe you, children, a great debt,” she said, and then like she was just remembering something, she snapped her finger.
“There is a man approaching in a car ready to take you to downtown Cincinnati,” she said with a smile. “He will do this free of charge, but you must not keep him waiting. I understand the seriousness of your quest, and though he is mortal, he will too.”
Luz and her friends all thanked Antheia, and they left her shop with her smiling from the door, waving a gentle hand.
“Good luck heroes, and oh, Luz?”
Luz turned her head while her friends kept walking, and Antheia shot her a knowing smile.
“Aphrodite has favored you above all others, especially on your quest, but your father has not forgotten you. Remember this on your journey.”
Luz blinked, wondering if Antheia could see through her more than she originally thought. Nodding she turned her head and followed Willow and Gus to the rocky dirt path where a yellow taxi was waiting for them.

HC: I was thinking about Amity being 6-years-old and Edric and Emira playfully fighting about where she was going to sit, because they both wanted her sweetheart attitude in their lives. Maybe some time after Amity made those abominations of Em.
Both of them probably arguing about their good siblings so they bicker about who’s lap she could sit in. So they put her in the middle of them on the floor and try to see who she’ll go to.
Then she scampers off into the kitchen they look confused. She comes back with a pastry a cookie that she splits into two halves that she gives to each sibling. Then sits down in the middle smiling at both of them eagerly. Their both just left there confused but touched.
“I can’t do what that cookie can.” She says to them innocently smiling. Being the egghead that she is she thinks they will pull her apart.
